You will not be disappointed when you go to the Larder Cafe
Delightful little spot near work... Love having breakfast here in their homely environment. Made to feel welcome by warm staff and owners...
Quaint cafe in Claremont. Spent my lunch break here with colleagues. Had the green cold pressed juice which was overly sweet for my liking, then the home made sausage roll with a salad. Now the meal I really enjoyed, salad was fresh and crunchy, and the sausage roll with their chutney was a perfect pairing. I have heard great reviews about their soups and will be sure to try that next.
While it's tricky to find parking nearby on a busy Saturday morning, I will say that the hunt was worth it. The cafe is cosy, brightly coloured and has a warm, homely feel. I adored the unique decor like the scatter cushions and cheese grater lamps. It really created a lovely atmosphere for the breakfast catch-up that I had with my friend here this morning. The food was good. My friend is vegan so she opted for the porridge (oats) minus the butter and asked for a vegan honey substitute and almond milk, which they happily accommodated. Turns out this place is vegetarian/vegan friendly which is great! I was on the mood to indulge so went straight for the eggs benedict (which I later learnt is named after Johnny Depp because the owner used to be his private chef!). The dish was really great - fresh ingredients, plump and juicy tomatoes, nice light hollandaise, perfectly soft poached eggs and a lot of yummy bacon. The flat white was decent and served in a very pretty pink cup with some quirky latte art. We both were satisfied with our meals. I found the service to be a bit slow in the beginning as my coffee took an unusually long while and our server was a bit absent at the beginning of our visit but after we ordered there were no problems. Would definitely recommend trying this place out. I'm already contemplating what to try for my next visit.
I love going to The Larder for breakfast with friends. I always order the Johnny Depp - it is great except they charge R20 to swap out the bacon with avo. However, the service is good and the setting is pleasant.
A hidden gem in Claremont, the Larder has the most delicious breakfasts and coffee! Be sure to check out the stand of baked (but still healthy) things near the till.

I've been here a couple times since its the best coffee shop in the vicinity of work and every time the food, drinks and service blows you away. The most recent visit (today) was simply flat white coffee done to perfection.
Great little place gotta coffee meeting. Loved that I could order paleo/banting friendly rooibos cappuccino with honey and almond milk. Didn't love so much the R22 slice of wheat free gluten free banana cake :-( would be back for a coffee.

Lindo lugar, buena atención y muy buena comida! Totalmente recomendable./Nice place, good attention and excelente food. Totally recomended..
I was hankering for poached eggs and hollandaise sauce this morning so after a quick Google search I decided to try out The Larder. I was slightly apprehensive about whether or not I would actually enjoy the meal as I can be quite a picky eater. I ordered the Paradis with smoked salmon trout (well-done eggs) and I didn't regret my decision, it was great. The ingredients were so perfectly seasoned that I didn't even have to add any salt or pepper to enhance the meal. The service was super friendly and attentive. Especially when I got the tea that I ordered and the lady who helped me spotted from a distance that I had no idea how to drink it - and came to show me. I will definitely suggest this place to people and will be back many more times.
We went to dinner on a Monday night for the roast chicken. It was absolutely delicious, but overpriced for what it was. The service was good, the ambiance was nice and we were given blankets to keep warm which was great! We had lovely chats with the chef, who is absolutely wonderful. Overall, a great experience.
