Review Rejoice Sushi Bar - Johannesburg

Shy's Alley
We come here almost once a month recently as a big group of anywhere from 5-20 people. The food is good but the sushi could use less rice. The buffet is good though and has an amazing and decent variety to it. The custard bao are worth it every time!

Rejoice is an absolute gem! This is 100% the place to go if you're in the mood for unpretentious sushi by the ton and at a steal of a price. The buffet is perfectly satisfying with a very good selection included (far more than average), and you can simply top it up with some signature items if the mood calls for it. The menu also offers a variety of other meals, including set menus. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, and the vibe is always relaxed. Two indicators of Rejoice being a good restaurant are that there are ALWAYS customers (most nights they are full) and that their staff have been around for years. Furthermore, this spot is well-frequented by the local Asian community, who come in groups with their families. What more is there to say then! šŸ˜… If I'm absolutely forced to give any constructive feedback, it is that there could perhaps be some background music to add to the atmosphere. Also, the toilets could do with some more attention and disposable hand towels. Otherwise, it's a great spot with food that delights.

Have always enjoyed the sushi from here. I havenā€™t eaten in, usually go in and order. Itā€™s not normally a long wait to get the food and I find it really affordable. The food is well presented and the sushi is well constructed (donā€™t fall apart when you pick it up or dunk it in soya sauce). We havenā€™t visited in the past 2 years but was so happy to see the food just as great as it has always been. The prawn spring rolls we got on the side were awesome too!
Ann James
Authentic and delicious Asian food. I went with Chinese friends who told me that other Chinese restaurant owners come here to eat, which is saying a lot!
Sibongile Ngonyama
Loved the service. Had their buffet and it was worth it! Owner very attentive and their buffet also includes dessert. They also serve cocktails
Jozi Girl
An unassuming restaurant- for some reason I underestimated this place and was rather surprised. They have quite a menu. Sushi belt with a vast choice thats really good. Prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Szymon Welgus
My goto place for all you can sushi. Sushi is decent and you get decent amount of fish. They're not that stingy. Service is up and down. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's bad. It happens and it seems random. But all round, it's good
Lovemore Mugova
The food tastes extremely good and the service from the waiters is out of this world Would greatly recommend Rejoice Sushi Bar with my eyes closed
Pragna Singh
Ordered takeout from here, to a dangerous gamble and ate it the next day for breakfast. Was absolutely okay and happy after that meal!šŸ˜… I didn't wait long to receive my order, and I appreciated the sanitized waiting area. I want to try the all-you-can-eat weekday deal at some stage. Overall, I was happy with my service and especially the taste of the sushi šŸ™‚.

Great find if you love great sushi at an affordable price

My husband and I are big sushi fans and we order from Rejoice consistently and are still yet to have a bad experience. Food is always great, staff are great, prep time is great. We love supporting you.
Jack Huang
Traditional Chinese, sushi, hotpot, BBQ, skewers, you name it they have it ! Everything at its finest quality.

Really loved the sushi here, and I've been to a lot of sushi places before. Love conveyor belt sushi restaurants. Great selection at a great price.

I love coming here. Food is amazing. First time we came we were shocked with service, but than we found common language with waitress and she serves us every time and we got used to her service)))) prices are excellent. Before finding this place I had to wait till I go back to my country for eating sushi, but not anymore. I recommend this place to people, who love sushi, but always mention not to expect super service or fancy decor. Just place to enjoy good food for good money

Been coming to this place for about two years always had bad service which I could deal with considering the quality of the food however come back here today and it was terrible - way too much rice on everything. They used some much rice that we had to cut of from the bottom of the pieces, the salmon roses were bigger than golf balls, the salmon around the ball of rice was so thin that it looked white and part of the rice. Highly disappointed, donā€™t think Iā€™ll be coming back or recommend this place to anyone again.

We dropped by on Thursday night the 29th March, as I have been dying to try it. Most of the tables were filthy and had not been cleared and we eventually found one near the bathrooms. We sat there for 20 minutes and even when we tried to get the waiters attention we were completely ignored. We eventually left hungry and disappointed.

Best sushi best prices food is always fresh love it
Zann Norton Rogers
Great sushi...fresh and place clean.no atmosphere or real service but the food was worth the visit.
Shelley Wilsnach

The sushi is wonderful and great value for money. The service unfortunately...terrible :(
Ineke Gietzman-Seket
The best sashimi and great sushi, but unfortunate sullen service
Geoff Tyrer
Awesome value - great food - on many years we had one bad food night but can't write them off for that
Gavin Kennedy
A local and nearby favourite for Chinese food and sushi
Gary Streek
Wonderful meal as always and very reasonably priced. Try work on the quality of waitresses.
Ryan Fos Labuschagne
The meals were really tasty and the sushi was awesome we will definitely be going back
Bee Zietsman
Excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the service and the food.

They have just put up their prices! !

Great Brothers and Sisters in Lord!
Dee-jay Nicole Zackey(Tigers Milk Manager)
Could have a slightly cleaner approach. Service is shocking, definitely needs attention .
Bontseng Keogotsitse
The sushi was better this time around compared to the last time where the chef would have more rice than fish. But the service was HORRIBLE. I literally sat for a good 20 minutes before anyone attended to me. And only as I was about to leave, did they give me attention. I read reviews and most complaints are about service. You need to actually DO something about it and STOP making excuses for it. Get more waiters please. I would love to visit again and give you 5 stars.

Enjoyed a few business lunches at Rejoice....great value for money on the sushi buffet. Fresh yummy sushi, ambiance is good, service is good. Will definitely be back.
Melissa Marengo
Iā€™ve never been disappointed, their sushi is always of amazing standard. Sashimi is generous and their takeaways turn around time is super quick. I eat from rejoice on average twice a week and I wouldnā€™t go anywhere else. They also beat most fancy sit down sushi restaurants in malls
Flora
Best Sushi Bar in town! Iā€™m glad I can finally find them from Zomato. I always recommend my friend to go there if they are also Sushi loves like me. As to me, the most important is if the salmon is fresh or not, and Rejoice will never disappoint you on that. That makes me and hubby driving all the way from Morningside to there very often. We even ordered two huge Sushi platers as starter from them for our wedding 3 years ago. Thatā€™s amazing! Plus with upper market restaurant quality you only pay a take-away price, you canā€™t ask more!
Spenser
The best rice I v eaten in JNB. Like their rice meal with beef or veg or others so much. Cheaper but much better than others. Sushi is fresh, my wife always takes it.
Jaime Lopes
On Monday nights they have a kick-ass half-price sushi special which I thought would be a great night out for my wife and I.
They were really busy understandably, but we were rushed to order before we had even sat down, which in retrospect we should have done because once we did order, the food took over an hour to come and the table wasnā€™t cleared from the previous people until just before our food came.
Look if we hadnā€™t been eating sushi, weā€™d have got our food quick, and I can totally understand how easy it is to get overwhelmed when there is load shedding everywhere else and 50% off on sushi so the place is packed!

The food was good and itā€™s a great deal. I hope they can iron out the kinks of their service...
Nina Randleff-Rasmussen
We love going to this place, they're reasonably priced and the sushi is good. However the last couple of times we've gone, there has been hardly any actual fish in the sushi, which is disappointing
Cait S
This is our go-to place for Chinese food and sushi.
Sometimes not enough chicken in the sweet and sour chicken, but then again I love chicken. Best dish hands down is the chicken Cantonese. Sometimes there's not enough food on the plate, depends on the chef on that night.

Sushi is usually good. Great spring rolls.

I still really like it though, one of my favourite places to go.
Tania Roberts
We ordered from the sushi menu as we were unsure how much we wanted to eat. The first order had a fair amount of fish in, but the later orders had barely a glimmer. I assume a different chef prepared the later plates but it was extremely disappointing. We ordered a handroll which came with tiny slivers of salmon so I asked them to please redo it. It came back looking like more but it was actually just pulled out of the roll and packed on top to look like more.
I was really excited to come here after reading the reviews but other than the friendly service from Privilege, the evening has been a total disappointment.
Kionna
Chicken chow faan and sizzling beef are wow. Extremely great value for money with large portions and decent pricing. However you need to check the expiry dates on the drinks before you consume.
Leigh Shenker
I am afraid I didnā€™t even get to look at a menu. Every table was filthy as they had not been cleared so we struggled to find a table and then proceeded to sit for 15 minutes waiting for service which was not forthcoming. I was really keen to try there Sushi, but after this I wonā€™t go back.
Dalton Blumenfeld
Excellent sushi at a great price to quality ratio.
They have a classic style sushi train in the middle where you can pick out a dish of pre-made sushi.

The chicken dishes are hit and miss and the same dish is sometimes excellent and other times a little dry and bland. Therefore consistency is sub par.

Sorry we have been trying to contact the staff at the zomato website to change our new price menu and have been unable to contact, so that we can not change the new price menu, and our business hours are from Monday to Saturday, 10:30 am To 22:00 Pm, Sunday is 10: 30Am to 21:00 Pm, for this to my dear customers inconvenience and misunderstanding, please forgive, thank you!
Jenni From The Block
Popped in for a quick family supper at this local sushi joint. They also have a Chinese menu. It's not the fanciest of places, but has a fun sushi conveyor belt which the kids loved, as well as booths and other seating

The service is not sparkling but it's what you expect from this type of quasi restaurant-takeaway spot.

We started with some tempura prawns and spring rolls. Crisp and fresh.

My son went for the 10 piece salmon plate, which he inhaled so fast I couldn't take a photo!

Other choices were chicken chow mein - a HUGE portion, and the beef chop suey. The flavours were quite heavily camouflage due to being over salted, and not particularly subtle, don't come here for delicate flavours, but the food was generally good.

Bow ties were a win.

Ok spot for a quick and cheap family meal.
Kris Barson
Today is my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to surprise him with a sushi cake.

I went to rejoice with my picture in mind and they assisted beyond expectation!

Thank you Rejoice for being so accommodating and helping me make my boyfriend's day special
Kholiswa Mqina
I'm always in the shopping centre where Rejoice is located, but never tried it until recently. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sushi & how fresh it was. The staff is very friendly, which always makes a meal that much better. Will definitely be coming here more often!
PixieVixie19
I love this sushi bar.
The decor is pretty and relaxed.
The ambiance is relaxed.
Prices are reasonable and the sushi is amazing!
If you go, do try the strawberry rainbow roll!

Parking is even secure and can guarantee a long visit.
Ursula Van Rooyen
I have driven past this restaurant for the last 6 months wondering how it was. It never seemed busy but I wanted to try it. So yesterday we did. I was so pleasantly impressed. It's really got good sushi. It's so well priced. And the nice thing is it does not have a big square conveyer belt it's a thin one so people can sit across from you and you can have a chat. I had the chicken corn soup it scrumptious I could have eaten 10 bowls so so good. The spring rolls are also really nice. But the sushi its fresh and well made. I really recommend you try it. The service is not great but I hope they will get better. But for a little local restaurant it worth the visit.
Crissy Van Zyl
What a lovely little sushi spot!! Great for takeaways! Their pricing is fantastic which suits me perfectly fine towards the end of the month šŸ˜‰

I LOVE their dumplings, hot & sour soup, spring rolls, and of course - ALL their sushi!! Even their Chinese food is amazing!šŸ˜ the Chicken Cashew with noodles is to die for!

I have heard they also do an all you can eat buffet that's not going to break my bank! So I am DEF trying that out as soon as possible! šŸ˜†
Dustyn Campbell
Quite dissapointed.
Stopped for dinner on the way home at rejoice sushi.

Decor and overall shop design is very nice from the usual poorly lit grubby chinese take away places we see so much of in johburg. Menus were abit off putting though with old sauce stains and a sticky mess on some of the pages.

Food was a different story, I understand it's a sunday night and things are slow but I expect my meals freshly prepared, rice was chewy and stodgy with the avo almost going brown inside the fashion sandwiches, very clear my order was pulled off the sushi bar and had been sitting on the conveyor belt for most of the day. We were sitting down at a table so to match our order from old plates on the sushi bar and bring it to us like it's just been prepared is not on. Beef chow Mein wasn't bad but very little meat and abit too salty

Not impressed won't be back.
Lynne Grubb
Good place to go for a quick no frills meal. Service was a little lacking this time around. Today was my third visit. The sushi was fresh and lots of selection, however I do find the sushi portions and pieces a little smaller than normal. The Chinese food I ordered was crispy beef , which I really enjoyed. It seems like take away is very popular.
Caron Whitfield
I delight in finding new sushi places to sate my sashimi cravings. The glass of sav blanc was cold, the sashimi fresh and the service fast. Got to try some new plates with crispy tuna, absolutely delicious!

I have been back twice since my first experience and each time has been superlative. I particularly enjoy this spot as I have found their prices to be the most reasonable out of all my favourite sushi restaurants.

If you have not sampled anything here before I suggest you do, and soon.
Emily Smith
Rejoice makes good moderately priced sushi and I have tried it both for takeaways and in the restaurant a few times. Last time I came by we had some dumplings, miso soup and sushi. I enjoyed everything except the miso soup which was unlike any miso soup I have ever tasted, the consistency was way too thick, the colour was off and the taste was really lacking. Stick to the sushi and Chinese takeout regulars when you come here.
Reynaert Dielwart
The food is genuinely excellent. It does take some time, but if you know and accept this, its worth waiting for.My personal favourite is the Rejoice Roses, they're epic!

Rejoice Sushi Bar has been recommended to me this year more times than I can remember for both its Chinese and its affordable sushi, and after a visit there this past week, I can see why.Ā

Rejoice is tucked away in the Bryanpark Shopping Centre and is often easy to overlook but the restaurant itself is always clean, their sushi is really good quality and more importantly it is one of the few sushi joints in Sandton that won't break the bank. With such reasonably priced food, I don't expect fine dining service standards so although I haven't experienced the best service here, it truly is worth a visit for a quick, healthy meal.Ā

Among their Chinese options: the chop suey, crispy duck and chili sauce, spare ribs, mushroom and bamboo roots with the ever popular oyster (or black bean) sauces are incredibly popular here!
Among their Japanese/sushi options: the salmon skin maki, and the spicy salmon battleships are really something different that I thoroughly enjoyed trying.Ā

My service with a smile go-to waitress is Fiona, who is always extremely helpful and attentive.Ā

*Recommendation: Definitely a little hidden gem in Bryanston and at those prices, I would definitely recommend Rejoice for the no-frills food.

For more, find me on Instagram & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

This place is a hidden gem. I absolutely love their sushi and their chicken soup is really addictive.

The service is fairly quickĀ (most of the time) and their prices are amazing.
Karin Eli Delport
The best ever! I would eat here everyday if I could. Best chow mein, sushi, dumplings, springrolls, great prices, good service, food is always great!
Thabie Lechesa
Best sushi in this part of Joburg. The place is relatively clean. Parking can be a challenge. Extremely rude management. Could do with learning a thing or two about stakehokder relations.
Zander Nevill Harding
Best Chow Mein and Chow Faan I've ever had in South Africa. I've also had the sushi bar with a friend and we both highly recommend it. Will be coming back for a fourth time and many more to follow in future.
Faye Darby
By far the worst place I have ever been to. No food on conveyer, no food brought out to us for over an hour. I eventually got up and left without having eaten anything.

How can you mess up a sushi bar ??? Absolutely unbelievably bad. ... I would not go back or recommend it.

The owner still had cheek to try charge me for two buffets yet we had had nothing.
Charmaine
Great little Chinese Restaurant in Bryan Park Centre. Great food, especially love the Chow-Mein. Staff are also very willing to accommodate special requests.
Daniella Lucy Selesnick
Best sushi in Johanneburg, I mean that honestly. I go monthly for a sushi buffet, and it's reasonable and delicious! Veg and fish always so fresh! The fried dumplings are also fabulous. My go-to sushi place ā¤ļøšŸ£
Sarah Weirich
Wow! My boyfriend and I have been battling to find a reasonably price quality sushi store... well, the search is now over! The sushi was delicious! Not to mention the qmazing variety and custom sushi on offer.... The staff was very attentive and had extra pickled ginger ready and waiting. (Obviously they knew my obession with pickled ginger) We will definitely be back.. @Matthew Hala
Amy Lara Baxter
Nice little sushi spot, really great for take aways. The shop is not big, but the food the produce is delicious.

The prices are reasonable, and it's a wonderful sushi take out.
Claudia McGregor
Nice little sushi spot for Bryanston offering the usual conveyor belt sushi, a chinese menu and smaller portions of sushi for takeaway so you can mix it up a little. Sushi was fresh and tasty.
Anandie
Near my house and central to meet my girl friends for our sushi fill.
The salmon roses can take some time. But the dumplings, spring rolls and wontons are great. The variety of options is great to choose from and makes it easy to either do the buffet or per plate option.
Staff can be a little off-ish but nice enough spot.
Greg De Chasteauneuf
Sushi was really good. I would not order anything from the kitchen though was not great at all. Sushi was fresh, service was ok. We had wontons , dumplings and fried bananas all were terrible.
Heather Hook
Staff were friendly and the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. I was really pleased that they weren't busy, as I really wanted to grab my takeaways and get home. There are very comfy boothes and also a large sushi belt in the middle. The menu is expansive and sushi and other typical Chinese dishes were on offer. I ordered some basic sushi and my order was out in about 5 minutes. Filling and relatively fresh - I will certainly visit again for a sit down meal.
Gareth Ramsey
Loved the sushi bar, well priced, and decent food, the place is nice and clean, staff are friendly, overall awesome place! Keen to go back soon

We've lived in Douglasdale for over 10 years but never tried Rejoice until I saw some rave reviews on the Jozi Restaurants Facebook page. No fancy decor, unassuming place. There are seats around the conveyor belt as well as booths were you can sit. Packed for 15:00 in the afternoon. We chose the sushi all you can eat buffet (as one does) for R139. Not many plates going around on the conveyor belt but the waitress suggested that we order fresh plates instead. Awesome! Sushi made fresh in front of us. Really delicious, neatly made portions. We were stuffed! They also offer Chinese food which we'll go back and try. Such a great find! And worth every cent! Great value for money!
Ross
Ordered take away and was very disappointed. We didn't have sushi which from the reviews seems good. We ordered the curry which was tasteless and just used cheap curry powder. The dried chilli chicken also had no taste and the rice was overcooked. Still trying to find a half decent Chinese restaurant in Johannesburg.
Rhian Doc
Rejoice isn't much to look at from the outside, hidden on the corner in Bryan Park and doesn't fair much better on the inside. However, the food more than makes up for it. My husband, a massive sushi fan said that the sushi was excellent and all you can eat for R139 is more than reasonable - especially as it also includes all appetizers (dumplings, spring rolls, soups etc). As I do not eat sushi, I went for the boiled dumplings and a chicken chow mein. Both were decent, big portions and again excellent value for money. We have been back and will continue to do so, a great Friday afternoon stop on the way home from work.
Michele Leuenberger
Awesome awesome sushi!! Always fresh and tasty no matter what time of the day!! Highly recommended!! This will become my once a week sushi fix!!
Brett Stevens
A one of a kind sushi and Chinese restaurant! brilliantly laid out interior invites you in to sit down rather than do take aways. It was surprisingly bright , friendly and busy. We had a lot of sushi and gave the spring rolls a taste. It was all incredibly tasty and best of all so affordable! One of the best sushi restaurants in joburg it must be said. So glad they're just down the road from my house!
Dagggers
Awesome sushi. Such value for money. Great service. This is definitely going to become my regular sushi stop. I've never seen such variety of sushi and Chinese dishes on a menu before.
Karina Liz Roy
Ordered a sushi platter as a take away. We underwhelmed by the salmon zest (meager portions) in the fashion sandwich. Soggy old rice and damp seaweed for the hand roll. However the ginger was sweet and fresh so that was great! Would I go again, unlikely.
Philip Van Der Walt
Friendly service when you walk in the door, clean and cosy. Sushi bar is constantly stocked up, and I grabbed some dim-sum for starters. Ordered Chow Faan Yang Zhou for mains, and portion was generous and tasty. I'll be back!
Davina Cronin
The sushi at rejoice is of a really good quality! The portion sizes are good and the food always tastes fresh and its reasonably priced. The only thing is the location, although close to where we stay, the centre is completely deserted at night so I would not feel comfortable sitting and having a meal there but for takeaways, it works. Also, at so many sushi places these days I always find some interesting sushi which is always fun to try and often tastes amazing, rejoice lacks this variety. But all in all, for a classic sushi take away, its a win :)
Jo-Ann Van Der Westhuizen
We had the sushi buffet it was lovely. We got there late afternoon and some of the sushi tasted as if it was going around a bit long. The new sushi was slow to come as they were busy else where and not making new ones. But the soup was stunning and the rolls great. The sushi wasnt bad at all maybe we were to early for an early supper.
Candice
I really enjoy this local sushi joint. The restaurant is clean and offers a variety of fresh sushi. For those hungry boyfriends or husbands their all you can eat special is perfect! As the only sushi lover in my family (they don't know what they are missing), I know their Chinese menu is delicious too.
Zoe Hawkins
Some of the best takeaway you can get in the northern suburbs. Extremely well priced, good quality Chinese food and sushi. Excellent phone manners and quick order fulfillment.
Ruan JHB
I frequent this sushi bar at least once a week, and for the price you pay I would really recommend this establishment.

The quality of sushi is on par with a lot more pricier establishments, so definitely for a quick bite/ take away I would suggest you go to Rejoice.

Service perspective, be advised that they will clear when you leave and get you a drink when you arrive, but don't expect anything special.
Dougholder01
Good sushi for a good price. Not excellent sushi or Chinese but pretty good. They have a rolling sushi bar which is fun and it is a popular place.
Lisa Botha Gibbon
This is a great little place to get my favorite take away - sushi! You can eat on the premises as well - they have a sushi bar with lots of delicious offerings. If Chinese is what you're after, the sweet and sour anything is good! Fast service, well priced. Limited wine list.
Thisisjassi
Sat at the sushi bar (conveyer belt). Good, decent sushi! Nice and fresh. Tried the boiled pork dumplings too and can definitely recommend them, very tasty. Staff are friendly, but service is slow when not taking items off the conveyer belt. All in all a good choice for a quick sushi dinner on a Thursday night.
Foodifancipants
This is my go to sushi spot in Bryanston. It's 700m from our front door and we love it! The sushi is fresh and priced perfectly. The ambiance could use a little work but for a take away after a busy day, it does the job well. I love their salmon roses and California rolls :) Yum!
Varushka Padayachi
Super affordable and delicious sushi with a twist.
I love sushi but eating the same old favourites can get boring, I mean sushi was designed to be innovate.
I tried Rejoice sushi and was not disappointed.
The old favourites are there and are fresh and constructed beautifully but there's also rock prawn (a tempura prawn with mayo and avo), duck nigiri and even fried chicken sushi.
For R130 you can have the sushi buffet and pretty much have anything on the sushi menu and well as a selection of springrolls, soups and steamed dumplings.
The service is fantastic. We were served by Liberty who was knowledgeable and friendly and was an absolute pleasure to have as a waiter.
Saiyuri
This sushi bar has fresh tasty sushi at reasonable prices. I once tried the all you can eat sushi special but my eyes are always bigger then my stomach and I never get my money's worth :-)
Doug Evans
Great sushi place in the heart of Bryanston! Good portion sizes and not going to break the bank. My girlfriend and I frequent many sushi bars in the area and this is by far my favourite. I would love more crispy salmon skin derivatives on the menu though as it is a favourite of mine!
Genevieve Meghan Van Staden
I have been struggling to find a great sushi place in Fourways. I love the sushi at Throbbing Strawberry- it's always been really delicious. My sister mentioned rejoice the other night so we grabbed some take away sushi. It was delicious! We shared a variety of salmon sushi and every piece was super tasty. I have yet to eat in there, which we will do at some stage. But I can't fault anything from my first experience there. Can't wait to go back for more!
Gabriela
Fish is always fresh, have fresh tuna 80% of the time.. Prep slightly long, but if you call ahead and collect works perfectly!
Luke Routier
One word: Incredible. I, as a fanatical sushi eater would rank Rejoice Sushi Bar as one of the best Sushi bars in Johannesburg. Their sushi is top quality and well priced. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a good vibe.
Mark Strathmore
This is my backup, backup, sushi place (#1 is Kong in Cedar square, followed by Yamazaki - also in Cedar square). It's the perfect place for takeaway sushi, and at Ā a push you could also dine in. To be honest, I would rather go to Yamazaki if I was going to make an evening of it, and Kong if I wanted a really top notch experience.
Simon Lee
Arrived to a very quiet restaurant, placed our 2 orders of sushi buffet. The menu definitely had some innovative different sushi. Most were really delicious.. Especially the black plate ( of which each sushi buffet order, one can order 2 plates) "rock prawns" and "Vegas roll".. Which was Actually a big sushi rice "bun" wrapped with tuna, faux crab sticks and omelette and then battered and deep fried!. Really yummy and different.

Down side was that the waitress was really quite silly in telling us we can't share one sushi plate between two of us. Totally irrelevant as we ordered TWO sushi buffet for me and hubby. Told her off and called the Chinese owners about it. The owners were very apologetic about it and was continually chiding the waitress till it actually ended quite unhappily with the owner telling the girl to leave.

We were given a peace offering of a pack of prawn crackers and more apologies on our way out.

Over all, would visit again as they really do have very innovative sushi more so than your other run if the mill sushi bars.
Jesscia
Im really disappointed with the service the front has given when i arrived there,i dont like the way managers talks so loud she doesnt have any manners, she dont know how to treat customers.....when i was there the lady was pressing her face,it had me discused...im never going back there again!i will also tell all of my friends not to go there..but i must say the sushi was very good there!for such a nice price
Andre Van Niekerk
Awesome sushi! But the way the manageress treats her staff is absolutely appalling! I will NEvER go back!
Lisa
Good sushi and well priced. The menu is great and had a hugw variety of pieces. There is a conveyer belt to sit at if you are in rush but its not very varied. Ordering is best. Good for a quick Sunday bite.
Zoe Lansdell
Update - August 2015
I was really upset when I returned to this restaurant with a bunch of my friends after bragging about the quality of the sushi here. We arrived and most of us ordered the all you can eat sushi special. Some of us waited for absolute ages for our food, and when it arrived there was SO much rice in the sushi that you could hardly taste anything else. I fully understand that california rolls and maki are meant to have rice, but this was ridiculous - the maki was the size of a california roll but with the filling of a measly maki. We all realised quite quickly what was going on - they seemed to overload the sushi with more rice if you order the special so that you can't get through as much. Very disappointing in comparison to my first experience at Rejoice. I won't be going backĀ

Previous Review:Ā
I was very impressed. I've driven past this place many times and keep saying I'll go in. I finally came here for dinner. As I walked in we were greeted and seated very quickly and offered a drink. We browsed the menu to discover they have an all you can eat sushi for R109 7 days a week... this doesn't just include the cheap sushi, which is why I don't choose this option at other restaurants, but they even have the prawn tempura california and some nigiri on the special menu. I was very pleased, and definitely got my money's worth. I was a little sceptical due to the affordability of a lot of the things on the menu, but absolutely happy when I got the food. They bring the sushi in waves which is good to help you pace yourself. However it did get a little bit too long of a wait after a while. The inside section is great, they have a proper conveyer system as well as little booths. Overall I may just come back here whenever I have a crazy sushi craving and am running low on cash. The fish is of great quality, the rice wasn't very sticky so did crumble a little bit when i dipped it in too much soya, but rather that that gloopy rice. May just become a new local.

My second 'go to' restaurant for great sushi at a good price is Rejoice Sushi Bar in Bryanpark. Their sushi is very fresh and healthy (e.g. they use raw tofu as opposed to the fried version). The service is slow as there is usually only one chef and the demand is quiet high. The food, however, is worth the wait. It's best to phone in an order and collect it as a take-away. Order set C and you'll get 15 vegetarian pieces for R60, including their yummy dragon rolls.
