Review Pizza Vesuvio - Bellville

Kobykenoby
Took my wife here for a date night. They are on the Entertainer app, which makes it a nice affordable night out. It wasn’t very busy which was nice. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The background music was elegant and not too loud - the perfect volume so you can actually hear the other person when they speak. The decor is cool. There are no physical menu’s. There is a barcode you scan to access the menu on your phone which is quite different. The service was fine and the food really good. The pizzas are made in a wood fired oven. My wife and I both had the Vesuvio pizza (hers on a gluten free base) and it didn’t disappoint. The base is well cooked and the toppings delicious. Some of the pizza’s are fairly pricey, but if you have the entertainer it’s totally worth it. We’ll be back.

Our server was absolutely amazing, he remembered us from our first visit. The new management team was great and humble. Food was delicious, with the Italian touch and not a long waiting period. The bar had a great selection and we can't wait for the new menu.

Really really impressed. Decided to ditch Panarotis in the mall and see what pizza places are nearby, also used Entertainer app to find a spot. Smallish pizza place with a somewhat rustic feel. We were warmly welcomed and seated. We ordered 4 pizzas all of which had generous and fresh toppings and the pizza crust is just so good. Also its genuine wood fired pizza which I love. I love that they offer some toppings that you don't get in your regular pizza chains (salmon, wild mushrooms, pancetta etc). Also ordered a kiwi daiquiri which was made with fresh kiwi... so good. Finished the meal with some connolo.

This lovely Italian Restaurant is one of our ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE places. Their Pizzas 🍕 & Pastas are Devine!! Vesuvio is a family run business & they go more than the extra mile to make each dining experience as special as possible. Make sure you make a booking otherwise chances are slim that you will get a table. Some of my friends come just about every Monday for the 'Buy one, get one free' pizza 🍕 special. Vesuvio is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

It was an mazing experience, service was warm, friendly and welcoming. I have to say, the food was beyond words..the pizza base was crisp and crunchy yet fluffy while the center was beautifully soft.the flavors were definitely on point from start to finish.. it was mouth watering, and pastas to die for, its definitely worth a try if you have not yet. I would definitely make it a staple.

Delicious with great fresh ingredients. Would definitely come back again.

Went with a group of friends and we each had something different (pizza, pasta, and a panin). Each dish was delicious and the service was great! Further than that, we also tried their new takeaway branch in Long Street and the quality is equally as great and delicious.

Jay and the entire team were amazing from the first phone call to the time we left. The restaurant was busy and cosy, and the atmosphere was superb. We enjoyed the pizzas and the milkshakes as well, great food. The coffee to finish was also fantastic. All round a very worthwhile visit and a place we will return to again, I have no doubt. It was also great that the venue was wheelchair friendly for my Mom. That was very helpful. Thank you to the team for a memorable afternoon out.

We visited Pizza Vesuvio last night for the first time since it is under new ownership. The standard and quality of the food are still impeccable. The portions were much larger than previously. The wine list has been revamped, with additions of some good wines for every taste and budget. The waiters are well trained and efficient. I have to congratulate the new owners for keeping the ambiance and quality of Pizza Vesuvio, but especially for improving the service standards.

We went back as my boys said it's the best pizza they've had. Our second experience was even better than the first. Jay, the owner, is friendly and a great host. The attention to detail is so good. He remembered where we sat the first time we came! We felt like special guests and enjoyed the chat. The food was just as great, the atmosphere warm and welcoming. We highly recommend this restaurant as ours was a great night out. Grazie mille

If you’re looking for an authentic Italian meal then this is the place for you- the restaurant is owned by an italian family who employ their italian son as a waiter! Awesome atmosphere, very homey. Im definitely going back there

What a menu!!!! Food are out of this world, quality at its best. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will return in heartbeat, just go and see and taste for yourself 💥

Pizza Vesuvio - my absolute favourite Italian restaurant. Fantastic, authentic Italian pizzas, great desserts, and the best paella I have ever had. Great, cozy restaurant vibe as well with their wood-fired pizza oven and high ceiling. Perfect for a party, work event, or just lunch/dinner.

What a gem of a restaurant with the most attentive staff and amazing pizzas. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. I went once and have gone back after that first experience. I wasn't a pizza lover before trying theirs.. It's absolutely delicious. Also tried their house wines and even their craft beer. All the food is freshly made on site and the flavors are amazing. I'll definitely be going back to try everything on the menu.

The best Gluten Free pizza base is served here!!! We have only ordered takeaway so. Looking forward to dining in soon. The atmosphere is inviting and service friendly and great.

Disappointing food and service. Staff is very rude

My cousin had a work event at this establishment and advised me to NEVER go here - the service was apparently slow and half the orders never came by the end of the evening. Despite this, I tried going twice as they are conveniently close to where I stay. Bad idea! Poor service and the food just not measuring up to expectations, especially considering the great food available from any of the restaurants in the area.
Stephan
Been a few times to this establishment. Love the pizza. Love the rustic decor. Bonus points for having my favorite beer on tap.

Family run restaurant with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Great! Pizzas and large wine selection.
Desserts (Gelato with and chocolate sauce and chocolate mousse) were surprisingly yummy!
Johan Nortje
Food Portions are way to small for the price. It took a waiter 15min before he attended to us. I ask for rare fillet but got over cooked well done. Owner is not interested in his clients needs. Do not waste your time and money on a 1/2 star establishment.
The menu online is not the same anymore and much more expensive. False advertising just to get you there.
Carla
Absolutely love this place... intimate rustic feel and mouth watering pizzas!!!! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, felt like I was being welcomed to eat at someones home.
Melissa Joy Kube
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening celebrating a friends birthday!
The food was amazing! We had the seafood pappardelle and filled calamari gnocchi, which both had beautiful flavours and were cooked well. The only down side was the small portions for the price which did leave you wanting more. We didn’t have any other courses so did feel a bigger portion would have been better.
The ambiance was perfect to celebrate with friends - at no point was I distracted by other tables, the kitchen, noise etc. Our waiter was also great and looked after us well the entire evening!

Stopped for a bit to eat because the Copper Club was full. Definitely regret it. The place was really empty but still the service we received was below par. The waiter was not interested in helping us. We ordered a marinara pizza. It was soggy and didn’t taste like much.

Always loved the energy here and the Cauliflower pizza was real good and real quick to deliver.

Although when I went here in December the service I recieved was appalling. The waiter gave us so much attitude. He took the order of people who arrived after us and brought there drinks first. We ordered the same thing we always get which was a vegetarian pizza with a Cauliflower base. We then were finished with our drinks and the other people received there food before we did. We wanted to pay for our drinks and leave but then the food came and it was the wrong pizza base.

We ended up paying just for our drinks and leaving dissatisfied and without an apology from any staff.

Kelly
The waiter was very slow and took really long to attend to us. Though it was a busy evening, we did see him lounging around often and I had to wave my arm in the air to try and get his attention for a while. The pizza was good I guess. The chocolate milkshake was warm and not very pleasing. I thought that the price of the food was a bit too high for its quality.
Quinton Meades
Focaccia was crispy, and the dough recipe was beyond amazing. I’m definitely coming back to try the pizzas.

Could not find any fault with the Cannelloni or the Filled Calamari. Calamari was fresh, portions generous and freshly made pasta was to die for.

Tiramisu was light yet flavorful. Will definitely be back!

Avoid this restaurant!!! It is very expensive with mediocre food and shocking service, only surpassed by the unprofessional attitude from our waitress (the daughter of the owner), her boyfriend server(who unceremoniously told us that our qualms with the food "is how they make their food") and questionably qualified kitchen staff(except for the front of house manager who did his best and acted professionally to address our BAD experience).

Sadly, this restaurant has not lived up to its reputation when we had dinner there tonight. One person in our group ordered gnocchi was given the extra chicken which another person ordered for his pizza (which the waitress noticed after the food had been standing under the warmer for almost 10 minutes-which was quite evident when I tasted my almost luke warm soggy pizza). They had to prepare a new pizza with the chicken whilst we waited for the food still standing under the warmer. My wife's super expensive R 140 wild boar burger was also not hot anymore. I specifically asked for a pizza to be brought straight from the oven (thinking that, like any good restaurant, they would not simply pop it back in the oven but remake it fresh seeing that it costs R 120). My wife's burger, unsurprisingly, was also heated up in stead of being re-prepared fresh. It was a forgettable over seasoned patty. Fortunately the gnocchi with the gratuitously non-ordered added chicken was edible. The other pizza, now with its extra chicken (at R 140!) was up to the usual standard because it succeeded in escaping the extensive warmer treatment to which the other food was subjected. We ordered three cups of cappucino and one caffe latte. Two were cold when they arrived, one the right strength and the other just coloured milk and badly weak. Intent on not disappointing us with the the lack of professionalism, the two cold coffees were simply heated up in the frother (proudly proclaimed by our argumentative waitress when I questioned the reason for heating it up in the microwave-the point escaping her that the mechanism of heating it up not being the issue). I requested fresh cappucino to be prepared. The two cups of weak cappucino were whisked away and replaced by the bill (with the two whisked away cups of cappucino never seen again still added to the bill-admittedly removed when pointed out to the front of house manager).

Delicious pizza, it does justice to original Italian neapolitan pizza! Definitely come back, already been there twice now and still enjoying the crust and sauce of the marghareta pizza.

Btw, try to book before hand specially if you go in the evening coz you might end up going back home without a pizza, as they just have certain quantity of dough for the shift. Better book!

◾GOOD/AVERAGE SERVICE
◾GREAT PIZZA

Really had a great time the waiters . . .extremely friendly and like the atmosphere
Definatly a must for me not to mention the pizza's to die for

Nice little Italian restaurant hidden away at the tygerwaterfalls.

Was craving pizza so I went on zomato to look for great pizza places around the northern subs. I found the Pizza Vesuvio who was 1st on my list and was rated a 4.1. I decided to go there and the place looks like a very small intimate restaurant.

Overall experience the pizza was good I enjoyed it not the best pizza I have had but was nice having a pure Italian pizza without having too much stuff on like these take away pizza places. I’ve read a lot of the reviews about how great they pasta is. So I will definitely come back to try that and maybe then I will give them a higher score.

So if you want to enjoy a pure Italian night out try pizza Vesuvio the place screams Italian. Italian owners, Italian waiters, Italian food, and Italian wine.

PS make a booking before you go there. It gets booked out on weekends. Looks like it's a very popular place.
Wanderlust Coffee
Food 4
Service 3.5/4
Drinks 5
Environment 3.5

The best pizza I’ve had so far. I really suggest you give them a try. We had the margarita and we wanted to try more but the doh was sold out. The photo of the pizza doesn’t look amazing, but I promise it was.
Improve? A margarita needs basil. I really missed that.
The dessert, tiramisu, wasn’t good. They didn’t use espresso or cheese. But simply cream with a coffee liqueur. That was disappointing. I don’t recommend.

The service was friendly and helpful. (Second time the service wasn’t that friendly.)

The environment inside was way too noisy and full so we sat outside. It was way more quiet, and they do have things to block the wind.
Improve? Add more prettiness, like a candle or something. Maybe also a cushion.

Real family Italian cooking. Mom in the kitchen, dad in charge of the pizza oven and their two kids serve the tables. Real hearty cooking, food delicious and the vibe warm and cozy!
Monique
Such a nice atmosphere! And very tasty pizza’s and pasta! Always a pleasure to go there! And the staff is very nice and friendly! Definitely our favorite Italian restaurant 👌🏻👍🏻

What a delicious pasta! We had the calamari gnocchi and it was the best that we've had in a while. Supposedly the owner makes her own pasta. If that is the case, 2 thumbs up.

Best pizza ever! Love this place. A must visit! Lovely setting. Excellent service and really really excellent food. You will love it, authentic Italian food.

Stop reading this review right now. Get in your car, drive over to Pizza Vesuvio and taste the best pizza known to humankind.

I’m not kidding. I’ve never had pizza that’s as good as theirs, and I eat a lot of pizza.
This place is an Italian gem. The owner and staff are Italian, so you know you’re getting proper, authentic Italian food. The service is also very good.

The vibe is very relaxed and intimate during the week, but over the weekends it can get quite rowdy. You have been warned.

Now, I went there literally twice in one week I was so impressed. On the first visit I had the Pappardelle Pomodoro pasta. You can really taste the home-cooked love and the fact that everything is prepared from scratch.

Upon the second visit, I had the Pizza Napolitana and that is the pizza that changed my life. It’s a ‘simple’ pizza that showcases the classic flavour combination of (proper) mozzarella, tomato and basil. It’s my favourite pizza and their rendition is my favourite.

I will go back soon and try very hard not to just order my favourite, but rather some of the other amazing sounding dishes on their menu.

In conclusion, I hereby officially declare Pizza Vesuvio’s pizza the best in the Cape. Well done!
Michelle Bestbier
Best Pizza ever, so flavourful, not too heavy and just a great texture overall. (I recommend the a la carne, if you like meaty pizzas). The wild mushroom rissotto is my favourite lately and then the alfredo is always a winner dish! The vibe there is just amazing and the staff so friendly! I've been there several times and it never gets old. You have to try it.

We have been coming here for more than 6 years and it only gets better! We love Pizza Vesuvio. The food is awesome and the service is top knotch. Our regular waitress, Chanelle, treats us like family.
Analiza De Sao Martinho
This place is absolutely perfect. Run by authentic Italians and yes maybe they need and extra waiter on busy nights but maybe you just need to actually spend time with your loved ones in the super cosy restaurant. I have come back to this place countless times and referred all my friends because I have yet to taste such amazing Italian food (even after being to Rome).

Gone from my favourite local place to the worst italian place......... except for 2 servers the others are rude.... food is slipping, soggy pizzas (as its left on the hot plate for 15mins - we sat there staring it at) then when telling the waitress she threw a baby fit. Her boyfriend server came over and picked a fight with me then claiming “they make their pizzas soggy deal with it.” Coffee was terrible, sent it back and they simply reheated it, told them we expected to have a new cup and they refused saying they will charge us again. Asked to speak to the owner and then was simply handed a bill and refused to speak to us.... billed us for the coffee even though they took it away to reheat it. They have also significantly increased their prices..... if you pay 140 bucks for a pizza you expect it to be good not worse than a romans pizza. Sayonara and will never be back even if I am paid..... Save yourself the trip and go somewhere else they obviously don't need your business, especially they way they treat their customers who have legitimate complaints

I have never in my life eaten such amazing food, let alone Italian food! We have been 5 times to this place, everytime we sit down I ask them to bring me a meal, they must choose, and every single time my mind was blown! Love love love this place!
Joni Stoop
Finally a place that know how to make proper Italian pizza!! The pizza base was amazing, and the cheese was properly stringy; just like in Italy! Be warned - you need to book in advance! Went here with my family on a Friday night, the restaurant was very busy so quite loud. The music was also very pleasant adding to the Italian ambience. Service was slightly slow, but otherwise attentive. Only criticism was that we were placed at the table closest to the kitchen, so we overheard all the kitchen talk and banter. The waiters and waitresses were having some sort of argument right behind us and one of them lost his temper and was hitting tables and throwing things around - ruined the mood for us and made things rather awkward in the beginning. Other than that we will definitely be back again, perhaps on a more quiet evening.

Wonderful Italian fare. Good service and ambience. One of my regular stops when out in that part of Cape Town. Their pizzas are especially delicious.
Sonia
One of my fav places in the tygervalley area. Great pizza and pasta! Tried the gnocchi for the first time and was divine but quite a small portion. Pizza was delicious. Place gets quite rowdy and difficult to hear, good service and waiters. Outdoor heating perfect for winter nights.
Francovanvuuren
Great place with great atmosphere. Good food. Will definitely come again. Easy parking and well situated. Would recommend to all, young and old.
Francois Van Der Merwe
Top class pizza, good service and great ambience. A real jewel in the northern suburbs. They also have a long table for groups up to 20 people.

It's an interesting italian restaurant, owned by an italian family . Everybody is very kind. The food is close to original italian , with good pizzas and pastas. The worst are the desserts, like the tiramisu (not so tasty, fluffed up and not dense enough) or what they call gelato ( italian ice cream) that tastes a bit fake. So indulge in starters and mains and skip desserts. The area unfortunately doesn't help the experience. A bit dead and with no charm. They would do much better in town.

We found this lovely Italian style ristorante in the heart of Tygervalley, lovely decor, we were seated at a small table, bit uncomfortable, service was slow and not attentive, but we loved the food, starter, insulata caprese salad soft, delicious mozzarella cheese, my companion had the mushroom risotto, loved it, lamb shanks average, but pizza was simply delicious, mouthwatering, highly recommended, but booking essential if you want good seating...good experience all in all, will be back indeed...
@natsnotfazed
Loved this little gem in the Northern suburbs. Incredibly tasty wood fired, handmade pizzas. We had the delish artichoke salad too. Excellent service and charming setting.
Elain Mostert
What an amazing place!!! We went there on date night and my boyfriend who is a picky eater could not stop talking about the food really great for date nights and everything on the menu is amazing the staff is super friendly!!! Definitely worth the visit!!!
Anandmrk
We went here as we had no plans to cook for the night. The place was like a 1950s immigrated Italian style decor. We met this very pretty looking waiter who took our order of Calamari feta and a Margherita pizza with mushrooms toppings. The Calamari feta had more feta than the Calamari itself. But still it did taste nice. The fire oven made pizza was really nice and of course with the amazing mushrooms made our day with some tomato sauce, cheese and olive oil with garlic. We thanked the waiter for the food, passed on our compliments, paid our bill and left.
Michelle Hope
Amazing food and atmosphere. We were two people and sat at a tiny table but at no point did we feel closed in. The service was excellent and our waitron knew exactly when she was needed. Will definately go back.

Gabi
Been here a few times, and every time the pizza was great. Exactly like we had when we travelled through Naples.. Thin crispy base with softer centre. Today tried their home made gnocchi pomodoro. Wow, softest little potato pasta I've had in a while. Their ricotta cake is a treat too. Service is friendly and pricing good. Lovely family owned restaurant.
Franco Nieman
I really love this place. The food is amazing with generous portion sizes. The menu is also well thought out. The staff makes you feel part of the family with extremely friendly service. They will see me every time I am in the area.
Malcolm
Great food, some dishes are REALLY great. Pizza is off the chart.
Prices a little above average.
Great small venue, can get very busy.
Terrible service!
Jevonne-kay Bougard
My Fiance and I went out for a date night on Friday. The restaurant was completely packed and buzzing with an awesome vibe. We thought we would treat ourselves and went with the Lamb Shank which was out of this world! The waiter was excellent and his whole approach added to the vibe. We loved every moment and literally didn't want our night out to end nor our dish we ordered . By the way the portions were massive! The only thing that I could mention that went wrong was that our reservation was not put on the reservation list but this was quickly attended to and luckily they had one open table for us.
Tessie Faber
This place is AMAZING. For take out or eat in, it truly is remarkable. They treat you like you are part of the family and having been to Italy many of times, it gives you the perfect Italian experience. Highly recommended!
Stephanie Courtnage
I love the feel of this restaurant! The mismatched chairs and warm interior are very appealing.

I was craving good Italian food, so Tim and I went for lunch at Pizza Vesuvio after Tim picked me up from work.

At first I was slightly put off by the decrepit outside appearance of the restaurant. However due to the good reviews on Zomato we decided to try it anyways.

I ordered the Pizza Calzone. It was very cheesy and the crust nice and doughy.

The service was good. Our waiter was friendly and very chilled.

Overall the restaurant satisfied my craving for Italian food. It serves good hearty dishes and efficient service.
Tatiana Gonsalves
This hidden little gem was so cosy I didn't want to leave. Good Italian food with a glass of red...perfect. Could definitely become a favourite. Loved the decor!
Janelie Kruger
Absolutely LOVE this spot in the northern suburbs. It's cosy with delicious food... But the service... It's MANIC busy, with 2 waiters? Patience is a virtue but running out fast! Waited for ages for desert and the more ages for the bill. Feeling sad about this. Was looking forward to a fun night out. Going straight to bed. Tired of waiting 😒
Willo “qbitza” Van Der Merwe
Food is good and very tasty, but service was bad and only one unisex toilet for the entire restaurant. Perhaps this place has grown too quickly and need to employ more waitrons.
Elzalee De Beer
Have always heard very good reviews about this beautiful place. Went there, the decor is beautiful, the vibe is perfect, however i wasn't too happy with my pizza. Lacked taste, but my partner had pasta which tasted great!
Bryan Vally
I'm no expert on Italian cuisine, but I have enjoyed a number of Italian restaurants. Thus far. Pizza Vesuvio is probably my favourite. I really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere - a great mix of modern and eclectic. This seems like a great venue for a dinner with a good few friends. The food was good (I loved my risotto) and, as neither of us had pizza, a return to try them is guaranteed. I thought Bellville had no options for an intimate dinner for two, and I now realize that I'm wrong.
Reza Marvasti
Awesome Italian family-owned ristorante in the heart of the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. I 100% recommend their food, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays if you want to have fresh seafood pizza or pasta. The Lavazza coffee is top class. Do treat yourself to an amazing Italian experienced.
David Metelerkamp
This is the best winter spot in the greater durbaville area. The atmosphere is cosy and buzzing with diners, a really authentic looking restaurant. Makes you wanna drink a whole bottle of red wine while chowing down on some of the best pasta. Prefer the pastas over the pizzas, keen to still try the gnocchi. They have a cool menu with some stuff I'd like to try but can't justify paying so much for some of the items, a little pricey.
Mias Van Der Westhuyzen
Pizza vesuvio is an absolute gem. Very unexpected, it is traditional italian amily run, Silvana cooks amazing fresh italian food with only the freshest ingredients. Id suggest having something other than the izza. The pizza is good but the rest is amazing!!
Carla Rauch
Authentic Italian restaurant with good service.

The food is above average and light with fresh ingredients, it does not leave you feeling stuffed and they have good portion sizes (the way portions were in the past and the way it is supposed to be). Good wine selections and cocktails. My husband likes the spaghetti bolognese and the caprese salad is definitely on my list as it looks great. The pizzas are lovely, I would however recommend to make them thinner.

A Limoncello digestive after your meal goes down really well.
Zanel
Pizza and gelato, who couldn't be happy with that?? The interior and atmosphere is just lovely - especially the music, which my mom enjoyed and our waiter was rather entertaining. We had the Bolognese, Nonnino and Vesuvio pizza's, which were all appetizing. The highlight for me was definitely my dessert though, almond gelato mmm.
Johan Bronkhorst
This has to be the most authentic Italian restaurant in the Cape. What a vibe! Food is fantastic and the way it is prepared in Italy. Wines to die for. Absolutely fantastic!
Samuel
Best pizza in Western Cape!
I have been coming back to this place since 2011, and they never disappoint. The 40 min drive from CT is worth it. It is a weak 5, if only they had a better wine and beer menu, but their pizza is just so good they deserve a top score.
Nicola Kotze
My boyfriend and I went here for date night and we found the atmosphere really warm and cosy! (Perfect for a rainy night). We both ordered pizza which were cooked to perfection! We had the gallina and Almalfi pizza! We also had ice cream with chocolate sauce with roasted carmalized almonds for desert to top it off! Our waiter was very friendly and informative about good dished too. Will definitely go back!
Lizet Verwoerd
Vesuvio gets a thumbs up for ambience and decor, very homely, it gets another for fresh ingredients, but that is it. service was painfull! We felt trapped by hunger, boredome, insolence... Well, we finally got our order in after 40minutes of waiting. Finally got our half baked dougy pizzas and might i say, delicious risotto after another 50minutes. Thankfully we brought our own screw top wines, and at least we had wine glasses delivered, and at least i could fetch a jug of water from the bar. Wow! That is a place with jacked up prices... R135 a pizza... Really??! that definitely does not deserve the praise its got!
Jana Lorraine Pretorius
Finding an authentic Italian restaurant in the Northern Suburbs isn't all that easy. Pizza Vesuvio has really risen to the challenge of filling this niche, and have been incredibly successful in doing so. The restaurant is named after Mount Vesuvius in Naples, and is run by an Italian family originally from that area. Although it sounds a little cliched, their love for their culture and cuisine overflows into every aspect of the restaurant, and it is always a delightful experience to dine there. Their engagement with the diners is excellent, and they go out of their way to identify personal preferences and make recommendations for each individual. The general atmosphere is warm, joyful and lively, and the dishes are wonderfully tasty and fresh. Everything (including the pasta) is made entirely from scratch, and the open-plan layout of the restaurant allows diners to watch the kitchen staff as they prepare the meals, which is also lovely to see. I would recommend their seafood and meat pasta dishes in particular. I have never been disappointed. Bellissima!
Debi Malherbe
Love the decor and the vibe. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was good although some of the pizza bases were a bit soggy and for the price should really have more topping. The wild boar burger was very tasty. The wine selection is very limited.
Allan Moita
Absolutely brilliant food. The dishes we had were all very good. Really great quality.

I think we caught the place at that awkward time between lunch and dinner, so it seemed a little disorganised and overly laid back. I'm looking forward to going back again, at a more mainstream time.

Updated....

This is the ultimate Italian! Every time we come, it's better then the time before. Brilliant!
Carlétjie Van Eck
I might be biased as my 1st date with my amazing boyfriend was here, but the food was amazing! The combinations of pizza toppings and the whole ambiance and amazing service is refreshing. I love this little gem -I will be back as much as I can and will recommend it to anyone - #bellissimo
Nicole Barlow
Whenever I want to truly treat myself to pizza, this is my restaurant of choice... a pizza of true Italian authenticity! You won't find another pizza like it! I'm rather addicted to their salami, roast onion with a drizzle of chilli oil... Oh. My. Yummy. Goodness. Banting, shmanting I say :) It's pretty basic in design, service and menu, but I think that's part of its charm - no frills, just quality food and the lighting lends itself to a charming, rustic evening.
FoodieC
Authentic Italian dining right in the heart of Bellville, a dream come true to me! In this past week I've eaten here 3 times and each time was divine! Having travelled extensively in Italy, I was well surprised that these traditional flavors could be achieved in my home town! Their pizzas are made from traditionally Neapolitan bases ; ten out of ten for them!! The lamb shank is to die for, as well as the grilled fillet. I love their Involtini (rolled) seafood pasta, served with a Neapolitan sauce, so tasty! Dessert wise, their tiramisu is traditional and ticks all the flavor boxes for me! Service is excellent! And the owner family (Italians) is always around, which makes restaurant traditionally and beautifully run! Their wine list also combines local and Italian imported wines beautifully. I will keep returning to this gem of a restaurant!
Reed Connelly
Always enjoy the food at this authentic Italian joint and we usually get take out here during the week and sometimes sit in.
Pity the waiter seemed to go out of his way to make our lunch experience terrible today. I had to get up to get his attention to serve us and his attitude was that we were bothering him. He clearly needs coaching/training or needs to get out of the hospitality industry quickly.
Raymond Langa
Certainly one of the best pizzas that I have ever had. You just feel at home going to this place. It's a family run spot that make you feel like you really belong. Great service, amazing food and without a doubt one of the places to be in the cape area!
Christine Du Toit
This restaurant brings memories back of our holiday in Italy. We had the Ossobucco pasta, it was delicious. A bit too much carrots. The Mare Bosco was very tasty. The flourless chocolate cake for dessert is highly recommended.
Jenna Manthé
What a gorgeous authentic Italian gem! Serving up the most delicious dishes that will leave your tummy and heart begging for more, Pizza Vesuvio is undoubtedly one of the best spots for pizzas and pastas.

I don't head out to Belville often at all, but PV will most certainly change this. I was lucky enough to be invited to a Zomato Meetup and it was one of my favourites. I left with the happiest tummy and an even greater love for Italian food.

Our day started off with a limoncello based cocktail that got my party juices flowing and taste buds dancing. It was refreshing, delicious, and had an almighty kick to it. Next up, our table was covered with divine platters (seafood, vegetarian, and charcuterie) and baskets of focaccia bread. Oh my goodie goodness! Absolutely faultless! These platters are perfect for sharing (or devouring yourself if you're extremely hungry). While I'd like to pick out a favourite, they were so great combined.

We were then treated to huge bowls of pasta (prawn and calamari) and a couple of pizzas. AMAZING! The pastas in particular were divine - I often find seafood pastas to be so rich that finishing a bowl is a challenge. These pastas were the perfect level of richness and I could quite easily eat enough to feed a family of 5. The pizzas are just something else! I haven't had a pizza that great in a while and I'm crying that I can't eat one as I type this.

The day was finished off with some light but decadent cakes and a couple shots of limoncello (my new fave). The service was speedy and our waiter, who I assume is the son's owner, was super friendly. The shabby chic decor with mismatched furniture makes for a pretty and relaxed setting. Definitely a must if you're in Belville or up for a little trip out of the city.

Bellville Cape Town a land of wonders and delight.....okay no not really.....but its such a unique place in world where all cultures meet within our diverse nation. Its such a central point and more known for a place of business and transport than one of Tuscany hills and big mama's with meatballs....

Yes that's right.....Italy in Bellville......saying makes you question yourself doesn't it.....but if your a "when in Rome type of person" then this place is just for you.

Its so homely and comfy inside not once did I think I was sitting in a restaurant, more like a vision of my dream vacation....if only

The food was really traditional, which I thoroughly enjoyed, its really great to see and experience authentic italian food when one considers how all our views of italian food has been so skewed by all fast food outlets degrading the simplistic yet fulfilling italian classics.

The menu included the most beautiful anti-pasto platters served on rustic wooden boards, delicate pappardale with white wine creamed seafood excellence and the most decadent gym motivating italian cakes. Don't judge me I was carbo-loading.....

All in all a experience to remember and a meal that should definitely be made part of you........
I am a Zomato Foodie Meetup veteran by now yet I am constantly surprised by the quality of the food out there. Pizza Vesuvio touched my special place (my heart you perve) with their sumptuous authentic Italian dining. The atmosphere is rustic and homely which I really like. Its almost like eating at your fat Italian friends house. Eyes wide as his mom serves a hub cap sized plate of delicious pasta. Mama Mia!
The starters were great, the focaccia being my favourite. So simple yet delicious. The muscles are fresh from the sea and you can tell. The ham and smoked mozzarella was incredible. Ham and cheese will never be the same! Then came giant plates of pasta. Mama Falco would have been proud. The creamy sauce worthy of the perfectly cooked pasta it embraced. Now for the dish they proudly used in their name, the pizza! We were treated to a short display of a pizza being properly hand thrown and the thinking behind the technique. Very cool. I love authentic food. Things done properly get me going. I smashed the pizza with glee and as I sat waiting to descend into a food coma the highlight of my meetup came out. A dessert tray. It looked good you know but I wasn't that excited because I was pretty full. One dessert caught my eye though, the honey glazed ricotta cheesecake. Sweet baby cheesus. All my brain cells fired at once with one message, put more of that in your face hole NOW. Glorius cheesecake, where art though? I've got 73 quid in my back burner that I was saving for milky bars but I'm gonna wax the lot on this heavenly goodness. This stuff is Italian crack. How is it legal? I can't pay my rent now. My friends and family haven't heard from me in weeks. I don't even wash my face in fear of losing one crumb to the dreaded area that is not the inside of my mouth. Beware the cheese addled derelict i have become. Anyways please excuse me while I go deprave myself in a dark alley to get my next hit. I regret nothing.

I only give fives when the food is incredible. At Pizza Vesuvio, they knock it out the park. When I arrived, I didn't think much of the exterior, but once inside you are transported to an Italian ristorante - the decor, the homely service, and basically EVERYTHING reminds me of my trip to Florence. Dare I say it, but the food was even better than it was in Italy itself. I loved the al dente pasta, the fresh seafood platter and the feisty cocktail we were given upon arrival (made with homemade limoncello) and the pizza was by far the best I've ever tasted. BEST. EVER. I will never underestimate a "mall restaurant" again - Pizza Vesuvio is on another level of awesome! Favourite find of 2015 for sure.

To find a good Italian restaurant in the Northern Suburbs can be a challenge, but Pizza Vesuvio hits the spot with every aspect.
The decor and general feel of the interior is simply amazing. Lot's of classic old furniture, and you feel right at home when walking in there. The wood fire pizza oven is visible from almost anywhere you are seated. Service is personal and effective.

They have an extensive printed menu, with daily specials written against the wall inside the restaurant. During lunchtime, we were treated with various tapas style menu items to try out. One of them was their Seafood platter, with large mussels, prawns, calamari tubes and Langoustines. The quality of seafood on this plate was outstanding and you could taste the freshness.
The second platter was the Antipasto Italiano, with Parma ham, Salami, roasted butternut and Smoked Provola. Really outstanding and highly recommended.

I also had the opportunity to try out some of their home made pizza and pasta dishes. Again fresh and very authentic. I have been to Italy before, and this is as good as it gets.
Prices are reasonable too and they have items on their menu for pretty much every taste. Highly recommended and the perfect spot for a good Italian lunch. and I will be back to try my personal Italian favourite, Osso Bucco.

At first appearance, I was expecting this restaurant to be quite average. But wow I was blown away!! This is probably the best Italian restaurant I've been to in Cape Town!!!

Each and every single dish was delicious!! The flavors were so complementary and perfect- nothing was over powering or too rich!!

We had a few platters for starters. One was a seafood mix with langoustine and calamari. Another was a platter of perfectly cooked vegetables and then a basket of yummy bread and lastly a plate of meats and cheeses. Was so delicious!

The next meal was pasta. This was fabulous! I battle with too rich pastas and this was simply amazing! I could eat bowls of them! After that, we watched our pizza being made which was really interesting and a cool experience!

The pizza was wow! Very simple but so so good. Bases weren't too thick nor too thin.
I unfortunately had to leave before pudding was served, but apparently it was just as good as the rest f the meals!

The service was very good and our waitress explained everything so nicely to us.

I really really had a good time and will definitely be back again!

Thank you Zomato! Was a lovely meet up! Jenny Sarah Coulson

Honestly one of my favorite places to eat. A little on the pricy side but we'll worth it for the experience alone. A family owned and run restaurant and it's customers can feel that energy between them as soon as they step in through the door. Their pizzas are some of the best I've had, all fresh ingredients which makes all the difference. Definitely a place to try out.

Authentic Italian pizza - love that base and fresh toppings! From seafood risotto to Nutella cake - a must try! Very warm cozy and stylish vibe! Family owned restaurant who makes you feel part of the family! Instantly became one of our family's favourite weekend restaurants.

Have not eaten in the restaurant but got pizza take out which was for good. Quality ingredients and no cheap sauce like some places. Will go back again for more

Just a take out for 8 of us tonight.
The place really does have character and feels like a nice soulful spot to just relax with some friends, wood fired pizza and a little wine.

We went there after finding another pizza place in the area not to our liking and this was a lot better.
Still not my favorite pizza, but more authentic and much better flavor 😊

Amazing Authentic Italian. Well flavoured dishes, excellent ambiance and service. Great for a cosy, romantic night out. Brings back memories of my favourite Italian spot in London.

Authentic Neapolitan pizza in Cape Town. This is one of only 3 restaurants in CT where you can get it. Very very good pizza!! I would drive from Cape Town CBD to go here.

This is the type of place you'll drive all the way from Cape Town to visit. Pizza Vesuvio is owned by the Cozzolino family from Napoli - the place where pizza started - and they make their dough according to a 200 year old family recipe. I can honestly say this is some of the best pizza I've eaten, including the ones I tried in Italy. I also love the fact that the family still all speak Italian to one another, and they are clearly very passionate and proud of the food they make.

You have to try the Pizza Nonnino with chilli salami, cherry tomato, and a generous amount of Bufala Mozzarella, as well as the Pizza Vesuvio, topped with roast cherry tomato, feta, bacon, roast onion, rocket and olive oil. It's also worth sharing the Antipasto Italiano, a platter with Parma ham, Coppa, salami, smoked Provola, roast cherry tomato and roast butternut. Open a bottle of the Altydgedact Pinotage 2013 - it's a delicious wine and pairs well with the food.

Took the kids and fussy grandparents. Everyone found something to eat that they really enjoyed. Great atmosphere. Family run. Relaxed and efficient.
This is truly an amazing food experience! I am a Margherita pizza fiend and this was one of the best if not the best! An authentic feel with a glass of red...all resistance crumbled! A must for the Northern Suburbs!

Regularly visit Pizza Vesuvio. Excellent home made pappardelle sea food pasta with cream and fresh tomatoes! Great service from the owners.

We have been to Pizza Vesuvio twice, once had pizza and once pasta; both times really good. Relaxed atmosphere, good quality food! Definitely recommended, as northern suburbs have a lack of good quality eateries.

I came here yesterday and was very disappointed in the service and food. The food was cold when it arrived and my other friend was also unhappy with her pizza. The owner was very rude and basically told us not to come back again because we made one complaint about the food. Overall, we won't come back here again.

A Pizza Posillipo is supposed to have basil on it. My pizza had one meagre piece. A busy restaurant and haste can't be to blame as there was only one couple in the restaurant at the time.
