For curry UNBEATABLE. REALLY good food, friendly and efficient service, pleasant atmosphere and very good value. Highly recommended. We had lamb korma which was not too hot and very tasty. Management was attentive but not intrusive
Our favourite Indian spot in Johannesburg. There is always great service and amazing spicy food! Their curries are to die for with my favourite garlic naan bread.
The service was great to begin with even though we went on New Year's Eve and the place was closing early. We ordered starters, including chicken samoosas and what I think were supposed to be chilli bites. Both were quite tasty although neither had any form of chilli in them, so were a bit bland for Indian food. The samoosa was also made very differently from what we were used to (Durban-style), with quite thick pastry. In my view, a samoosa should have thin, crispy pastry and have been pulled fresh from the hot oil minutes before being served.
For mains we ordered tandoori chicken with fries for myself and my wife tried the chicken in coconut and cumin sauce. Both were great although my tandoori chicken was like eating fire (my fault, I should have opted for a medium heat) so I could only manage half. We had a great time but when the bill arrived the price of drinks spoiled the experience. R32 for a Windhoek Light?! Seriously? Come on, restaurant owners, people are tired of getting soaked for their drinks. And let's lose that corkage charge shall we? I can tell that in future we will be picking restaurants that DON'T charge corkage.
That said, when we are really lusting after some curry in mid-winter I may well give it another try but won't be ordering any beers, that's for sure.
Still the best curry in Joburg if not in Mzansi! I had an excellent Chicken Korma and my companion was more than satisfied with his Lamb Keema Masala. Service was excellent as always. Feels like coming home and Ghazal Bryanston never fails to satisfy.
OK but still not great. A big improvement on a couple of months ago when the curries were very salty and short on meat. Starters are decent though.
This is by far my favourite restaurant in jozi! The food is, without fail, always tasty and delicious. I love Indian food and the food at ghazals maintains it's standard whether we're getting take outs or dining at the restaurant.
This was the second time I had been to Ghazals, but the first time with my partner. Very relaxed atmosphere and ambience. We both ordered the prawn masala mine hot and my partners mild with some garlic naan bread. The food was delcious and the taste of the masala sauce complimented the prawns admirably with the various spices mixed with the coconut milk flavouring.
For dessert we shared a warm chocolate brownie smothered with chocolate sauce and a portion of ice cream. My partners comment was that it was the best chocolate brownie she had ever tasted.
Authentic indian food at authentic prices with an excellent dessert very reasonably priced as well.
I would recommend anyone who wants to experience great indian food to try Ghazals.
So Ghazal snuck up on us and has been a favorite since. We usually order take away and it’s as good as being in the restaurant! The vegetarian rice is to die for yummm! Also the briyani is top class wow!
Love this place! Best Indian food I have ever had, every time great service and friendly staff. Price is worth the food quality and quantity. Personally recommend the lamb Korma with a bottle of wine and naan bread. #heaven
There are no words for how good the food is here, my favourite Indian restaurant in Joburg. Lamb Korma and the naan bread are amazing!! I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed.
The whole experience was amazing, the food exceeded my expectations.
Very good and [hot] food. Some dishes take longer than others, I believe the Lamb Biriany was the case.
Restaurant was crowded [a bit noisy (82dB)] became quieter at mid-end.
The dinning room was Coltishall [main door was open], by the end of our dinner they brought a heater [too late, it should have been there from the start].
We enjoyed very much the food and the staff was friendly and efficient.
Love this place so much, had an awesome catch up with good old friends and a great meal with excellent service... wish I got our waiters name but he was awesome
We went for a dinner and had a fantastic time. The mood and atmosphere are perfect, the staff are wonderful and very kind, the food is exactly what it should be and of an incredibly high standard in my opinion.
Overall a lovely restaurant that is highly enjoyable and most definitely recommended.
The food is always good here 😊✨️
A great restaurant for authentic Indian food. The choice of dishes is vast. Each dish cooked to perfection. Service is quick and efficient. Food is perfectly spiced. And you can choose the level of heat - mild, medium or hot.
We enjoyed the palak paneer and the prawn khorma the most.
Best Indian food ever! I love the vegetarian options too. So delicious!
My friends and I love going here .
Cold weather. Butter chicken take away. Poppadoms. Years and years of eating Ghazals curries. Tasty, tender and the go to place for North Indian curry. You simply can’t go wrong.
Joe and his team went the extra mile to ensure that our function was a success. The food was well prepared, and the presentation was good. The venue itself was beautiful.
Spectacular experience.
The cuisine is exceptionally well prepared, with very generous portion sizes. There is a real sense of authentic, flavourful and wholesome traditional Indian food to enjoy. Huge variety of curries - sweet and spicy, lentil or vegetable based, and lovely paneers too. The Masala tea is available on request and an absolute must-try. Truly heavenly brewed with all the classic spices and hearty milk.
You can appreciate the attention to detail despite the service being really speedy. The atmosphere is very warm and homely. Delightful retreat to spend quality time with friends and family.
