Review Industry Bakery - Johannesburg

Marlon Dasarath
I recently had the (smaller) masala steak gatsby with the works. Firstly, It was so so good that we ordered it two weekends in a row. Secondly, even though it was the smaller one, the portion is huge. It was at least 40cm long but packed with ingredients. The first time we had it, my wife and I had to finish it over three meals altogether. The second time, we managed it over two meals. However, note that we were stuffed and fully satisfied fullness wise. Taste-wise, this has been the tastiest gatsby I have ever eaten, even better than the Cosy Corner ones in Cape Town or the ones from Akhalwayas or Akhalzone is Joburg. This gatsby comes with masala chips, strips of steak, garlic polony, russian sausage, lettuce and mayo, amongst other things. To this end, what gets me is how when you take a big bite with a little bit of everything, you get the classic masala taste throughout but also the individual tastes of the different ingredients also coming through. That is, it doesn't have that mono masala gatsby taste that stays with every bite until its finished (like elsewhere). You get the masala taste up front and then the taste of each different ingredient comes through tastily. The steak is really tasty and the pop of the mayo lettuce is inspired when you get a bite of it. The russian and polony also tastes so good and the food is just so fresh. I can't express how tasty the food is. I think you get very good value for money with the gatsby, as well as great taste and freshness (which is amazing for fried foods...lol). I highly recommend this place, in particular the masala gatsby with the works. It will be the best you would have eaten. On a side note, they also sell a number of very very fresh cakes and pastries. I love the long donut and the horse shoe pastry with fresh cream. However, only buy these if you have more than two people also eating the gatsby, otherwise you will not even be able to eat them because you would be so full after the gatsby. I can't wait to try some of their other stuff.

The masala steak gatsby was delicious! I’d definitely try more menu items from here. The atmosphere inside could be improved. They’ve just moved here as far as I know, so hopefully this is something they plan on improving. The waiter was very friendly but the lady at the counter could have been friendlier and more responsive when asked about the baked goods - these could also be displayed better.

The food is excellent. Well done to the team. Very friendly and effecient staff. The Gatsby is massive which is the fully loaded. Serves 4 to 6 adults comfortably. Will definitely go back again. Thanks industry bakery Team

We followed you - from Northcliff all the way to Sunninghill and was absolutely WELL WORTH IT! Keep up the fantastic level Nadim... always on point 👌🏽👌🏽😋 Will Definitely be back 👍🏽

Lovely food. Enjoyed it. Still had leftovers 1 full gatsby feeds 6 people minimum

Food was absolutely amazing. It was our first time eating here. We ordered a mini gatsby but it was still too much food for 2.5 of us😅 Service was also really good and the shop very clean. Keep it up!

Fantastic loaded chicken wraps & chips. Every mouthful was flavorsome. The portion is generous & the service is good with the owners running the place, giving it a personal touch. I don't like the new premises though. It's a bit of a drive for me & the atmosphere is not as cozy as their previous location on Beyers Naude.
Yusuf Hoosen
Fantastic... best Gatsby i have ever tasted.. was worth the long drive to Sunninghill! Burgers are awesome as well and little bakery corner to sweeten the deal ;) Cannot wait to return... the toasted steak special is "next level"

If you're looking for a great take-away or sit-down food shop in Northcliff, Johannesburg, I highly recommend checking out this place! The standout dish here is their "gatsby," which many locals say is the best in town (even better than those found in Cape Town). The owner, Nadeem, is an excellent host who takes great pride in his food and his customers' satisfaction. He often checks in on diners to make sure everything is up to par. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for anyone in the area looking for delicious, high-quality food and top-notch service.

So good and I am so happy they have moved closer to my home😅 finally a decent Gatsby in Jhb. A must try!

A must for any1 looking for great taste and value for money. Ordered a mini steak Gatsby with everything. It was huge and delicious from start to end. Owner was on site and very helpful.
Beverley Scheepers
This is half of the mini fully loaded Gatsby, a huge monstrosity with steak, Viennas, polony, chips, eggs, cheese and salad items for balance. The most amazing flavors ever! Hubby and I only managed to eat half of the mini. Also available in full size. Definately worth it!

After looking at the pics, we thought, ok, let us take a drive there. The real deal was beyond our expectation, it was delightfully delicious and did not break the bank. The flavours of the gatsby mmmmmmmm The atmosphere of the restaurant fills you up with a sense of family, love and peace! Definitely coming back for more!!!

We ordered a masala steak gatsby and wow 🤩 it was fantastic and enormous! It is a very unassuming place but whatever goes on in the kitchen is magic👌🏽 It is situated in the JHB Eye Hospital so don’t get lost. Well done and we’ll definitely be back!
Dion Thompson
Phoned in and was told 20mins got there and my fully loaded Masala Gatsby was ready and piping hot 🔥. Service was fast and friendly. 6 grown men very happy and content, only thing is watching the rugga now might be a challenge!

Good Food. Great Hosts This was our first time at this spot and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent, portions generous, flavour-filled items for the family. We ordered the house special burgers, a wrap. Amazing. Definitely visiting again

Ordered take out burgers . A steak burger , a beef burger with jalapeño and a nacho burger.the burgers came in a blue green bun the patty was a fine mashed type of beef thing and the steak was a thin slice cooked till it was like shoe leather. The look of this new perhaps yuppie style blue burger bun looked so unappetizing. I wont be back here again as the new ownership have not stuck to the original winning recipes.

What a great spot for breakfast. Sit outside and enjoy the great South African sun and fresh air. Friendly service and most importantly value for money. They are halaal. Try their Industry Breakfast Grill.

My family and i visited the Cafe on Saturday morning. I purchased quite a lot of goods.<br/>I specifically asked the shop assistant/server if the Chocolate eclair had Fresh Cream, she confirmed that is was in fact fresh cream.  Later the afternoon when having tea and getting ready to munch on my eclair..., to my utter disappointment, it was filled with mock cream - horrible stuff. In my experience in Baking and having had a Cake baking business, i do know the difference between Fresh cream and mock cream. Very disappointed with that. <br/>Other than that the staff were friendly and they have quite a selection of fresh breads and cakes.

Excellent food, for what was available... we were there at 2pm on a Sunday, they close at 6?. No chicken or vegetarian options available as they had run out. The red meat options were however still lovely. Very slow service, however, we will still go back.
Chris De Beer
First visit to industry , good size space , they have a small bakery take away section and then the restaurant section . Service was gud . Orderd the omelette which was really gud . The chicken burger was juicy and full of flavour . The onion rings were ok , nothing special . Their milkshakes also looked great , will have to try one on the next visit . Please note that it is a Muslim venue so no bacon or alcohol . OverAll really tasty food and you get to take home some koeksisters for pudding .

Let me say that we have been to Industry on numerous occasions but were left standing in the door wondering what next.... do we go in and seat ourselves, does someone seat us, what do we do?! It was all so very strange and on all those occasions, their waiters and managers would just look at us too. So we would end up going elsewhere- lucky there are many other options around them. This happened three times (I know right) until we finally gave up. <br/><br/>But when owners changed and the place underwent a little bit of a revamp we thought, lets go give them another try. I am glad we did! So if you had a bad experience before, do return.<br/><br/>We had the nacho burger which was delicious! and the tandoori chicken burger which was tasty but lacked spice to be called a "tandoori"<br/> <br/><br/>The service was overall a HUGE step up, would be returning

After seeing all the hype on social media, i decided to stop by this weekend. Friendly service, yes. But the chocolate brownie & custard slice was beyond disappointing. It tasted of poor quality ingredients, the chocolate brownie didn't even taste like a brownie, the custard slice hardly had any custard on it.<br/> WAY over-priced as well for tiny portioned , poor quality goods.

Came for breakfast with my sister with high hopes and was quite disappointed. We arrived just before 11 and I ordered the full South African breakfast and my sister opted for a burger. My breakfast was lifeless. My eggs were very hard fried (not soft poached as requested) and the mushrooms tasteless. The sausage and macon weren't bad but we're unable to save the breakfast. Toast was store-bought white bread instead of ciabatta basket as promised. The coffee was passable. My sister's burger was excellent however so maybe if you're considering trying this place, give the breakfast a miss and stick to the lunch menu. I won't be returning.

The one thing that I keep going back to Industry bakery for are the Cape Malay style koeksisters. <br/><br/>They're not easy to find and these guys make them just right. Not overly sweet and well spiced.

The revamped bakery and cafe is more 'coffee house' than the previous raw and unpolished look of Industry. I love what the new owners did with the place. With a change in decor and seating, the fresh take they spun on the much loved bakery is simple yet welcoming and still has elements from the original cafe. Will rave about it on the blog soon. I popped in for some freshly baked goods and can't wait to come back and have a cup of coffee and some cookies when I'm in the area again.<br/>(Considering Zomato does not accommodate multiple reviews, you can read my previous one in the brackets below this).<br/><br/>[I heard they're under new ownership and I'm looking foward to popping in and seeing the fresh look the place offers now. I'm sure their burgers and shakes are still something to talk about. I really enjoyed the vibey atmosphere when i last visited. Plus their pop-ups always bring in a crowd, I hope they continue to host small businesses, workshops and exciting events! Also keen to see what new menu items they might have added on.]
Taz
I ordered the steak burger with chips and it was perfect. To drink I ordered the caramel popcorn milkshake. It was absolutely divine. The service was amazing. I will definitely go back very very soon.

Friendly staff, delicious treats, a quirky interior and good coffee. What more could you ask for? Great place to stop by and catch up with my favorite small cappuccino. They also host a variety of events which I thoroughly enjoy- look out for the next one!

First time I've been to Industry Cafe & Bakery, loved the pop up store.. Great rolls, wasn't very impressed with the focaccia nor with the burgers we bought. My husband's was just cooked but had a raw taste to it.. Mine was rather bland.
Joe Joey
I have been to Industry a few times but never again. Worst service ever. We were asked in the middle of our meal to change tables. The waitress was the most unprofessional person ever. There are many better options in the area and I will be frequenting those in the future.

I'm literally an industry regular. Their burgers and milkshakes are good. They tend to hoast alot of foodie pop ups which is really cool of you're into trying new things so follow them on social media. They have some of the best bread, and cocktail rolls. I buy their rusks quite oftem as we love them. I havent tried their breakfast as yet but im keen to!

Visited on a Sunday for a late lunch.. Ambience was chaotic and unstructured. Ordered burgers, onion rings, pastry and milkshakes. The pastries arrived without extra plates or cutlery. We basically had to ask for crockery and cutlery and serviettes. The burgers arrived and were eaten and still no soft drinks. Again we had to ask for everything. The onion rings lacked salt and I've eaten better burgers. Service was poor. I got the impression that they did not have enough staff to handle the clientele. Decor is pathetic. Industrial can look polished, however they did not achieve it. Not a place I would recommend or ever visit again

Ordered takeaway burgers for dinner this past weekend... I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were! A plain beef burger and a nacho burger. Basically a small portion of nachos on top of a beef patty... It was still delicious even after a warm up in the microwave. Their buns are so nice, they don't break as you're eating... @Great prices!<br/>They have some good tasting coffee as well!
Good Food Junkie
Went for the 'When we were Kings' doc the movie kept getting stuck and the sound quality was poor. The waiter was friendly and helpful while the burgers were tasty and succulent had the chili burger with the ice coffee shake Overall I would say it is a poor attempt in hosting evenings but the food is good. Will eat there again but won't go for events not worth the admission price
Arshad Ismail
The burgers wer great lots of flavour something different I had the chicken tandoori burger and the peanut butter shake was something different and amazing never have I tasted I peanut butter shake like that

PixieVixie19<br/><br/>I truly love the unpolished industrial type look to the cafe and hoped it would live up to my expectations.<br/><br/>As our first visit wasn't a great one, my daughter and I went back a second time some weeks later. Mistake. The things I had an issue with, is still there. <br/><br/>We had tasted their salted caramel macaroons the previous time which was delightful. It was over a weekend and unfortunately they had none of that flavour ice cream left. We could totally forgive that.<br/><br/>Today I thought as it is early in the week, surely they would have prepared for the week ahead? Again, no salted caramel ice cream and no idea "when they buying again". I was under the impression it was made in house.<br/><br/>When we visited the last time I had an Oreo milkshake and it was awesome. Today, not so much. It wasn't chilled but room temperature and very sweet. <br/><br/>We also tried the caramel popcorn milkshake which was a much better temperature and not as sweet (basically caramel popcorn crumbled in vanilla ice cream). Much better effort than the Oreo milkshake from 30 minutes earlier.<br/><br/>My Egg Benefict was just vinegar. It was really disappointing. My daughter had an omelette. She is tagged here for you to read her review.<br/><br/>Last time we noticed that the display cabinet had collected many particles, crums of food at the bottom. Same today. It does not look good at all. Clean it.<br/><br/>The condiments all needed a wipe, our table was sticky and a large number of the lights in the cafe does not work. The menu ... stained and crumpled. Just print new ones?<br/><br/>It seems nobody really cares? Slap, dash<br/>
PixieVixie19
Cleanliness is next to godliness.. Really? <br/><br/>For the second time, in a row, I have found this restaurant to be dirty and unkept. <br/>The display case is quite disgusting with old food and I am very glad to have not eaten anything out of there. <br/>There was also food on the floor and our table was sticky. <br/><br/>Although my food was not great (omelette was overcooked and mushroom sauce was freezing cold), my lunch partners food (Eggs Benedict) was so full of vinegar that you couldn't taste anything else.<br/>That is so disappointing.<br/><br/>We both tried to enjoy an Oreo milkshake, but found it to be horrendously over-sweetened. Why add extra sugar to Oreos? Seriously? <br/><br/>The only reason we came back here, was to see if we could get a taste of the 'salted caramel' ice-cream but to no success. Once again, there was none. <br/><br/>The whole restaurant has a nice "vibe" and the decorations are very intriguing plus our waiter was very polite and helpful, thank you. <br/>With, Wenchy <br/><br/>

Industry is relatively new and I've eaten there several times. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. The burgers are great and the milkshakes are fabulous. I took the family around for an early lunch today and they did not disappoint. The capuccino (flat white) was remarkably good too. The only thing I can complain about is that it isn't air conditioned inside and being a bakery can be warm - doesn't bother me though.

Good, wholesome food in a trendy environment. That is how i describe Industry to people. The burgers are decent and the milkshakes are great. It is definitely worth it for the price and the service is good too. It is great for a relaxed chilled meal that is tasty but won't cost an arm and a leg.

Was with friends just looking to grab a little brunch. Industry Bakery count our eye and we went in on a whim. Its rustic unfinished decor was appealing although the layout could do with some work. It had the lovely bakery smell that would make Tim Noakes consider a side of sinful carbohydrate filled croissant. The restaurant has a halal certification which really just means you won't have bacon with your eggs benedict. The coffee was good and I was served in homely green mug. I spotted an interesting item on the menu, a tandoori chicken burger on a brioche bun. The bun was not quite brioche but it was certainly more enriched than a normal bum and the flavour of the burger was delightful. It's a pity it doesn't come with sides by default. We ordered chips and they too were tasty. To finish off we split a cronut (croissant doughnut) and that too was good, although not screaming with freshness as the smell would have us believe. If in the area I would go back, just for the tandoori burger and decent coffee served in a reminds me of home mug.<br/><br/>I did see someone working comfortably on their laptop so this could be a place to camp out and make into a mobile office.

Waited for all the "indian-tornado" to subside before we tried the place. Set up is cool, burgers were absolutely INSANE, so was the peanut butter milkshake. Will definitely come back.

exellent service<br/>friendly stuff, hope to see more of who you are next year
Saaleha Bhamjee
If a place boasts 'Gourmet Burgers', it should aim for more gourmet and more burger. Industry disappointed in this regard, which is kinds sad cos I was so excited to finally find a halaal cafè. <br/>The burgers were tiny, overpriced and far from gourmet.
Jaynisha Patel
Decided to pop in here today for a milkshake after hearing good things, however the experience was really underwhelming.<br/><br/>When we walked in, nobody who worked there came to show us to a table and we awkwardly stood around for a minute while the waitress had her head on a table and another lady just stared at us. Eventually we were shown to our table. The menus were all bent and stained, and the fans do no justice to the heat inside the restaurant.<br/><br/>I had the oreo milkshake which was decent but nothing special. My sister had an iced coffee - she has been before and said that different people make the drinks differently and the iced coffee was much better on a previous visit. So if you're looking for consistency then this probably isn't the spot for you. We also got a scone and éclair as a takeaway, both were dry.<br/><br/>I really would have liked to go back to try the veg burger but probably won't after the terrible service, offputting experience and inconsistency.

Pros<br/><br/>Centrally located<br/>Lots of parking-but the area can become very busy and you may need to park far away.<br/>Excellent filling burger, one of the best gourmet burgers in town<br/>Friendly staff<br/>Funky setup<br/>Very innovative hosting calligraphy classes and comedy evenings drawing customers in an area already overflowing with restaurants.<br/><br/>Cons<br/>Seating is limited<br/>Burger bar closed on Sundays. Make it 7 days a week.<br/>Burger prices may be unaffordable to some<br/>Menu is limited. Additional items are needed for me to bring my whole family along.<br/><br/>Being a burger lover I was told to give this venue a try. I found the staff to be well trained, the owners hands on, friendly, helpful and the place busy and filled with families and young people. Upon receipt of the burger, it appeared somewhat small and overpriced. It does not come with chips unless you order separately. Nonetheless when I finished it I was extremely full and satisfied. Its a case of dont judge a book by its cover. Overall an excellent venue, with a great funky vibe with delicious food. I will definitely visit again.

*Updated review <br/>Follow their Instagram page and see some of the things these guys are up to, love them! I try popping in whenever I'm in the area, even if it's just yo pick up a freshly baked few cookies. <br/>I'm a huge fan of their caramel popcorn milkshake. I literally day dream about it regularly. Their ginger ice chino is also surprisingly good. They have a great way of experimenting with flavours that work well. <br/>Their burgers are generally good as well, with a lovely bun. Cue - my anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns, hun. But for real, their buns are amazing. They have a bit of sweetness to them, which goes wonderfully with a homemade patty that just melts in your mouth. <br/>I also appreciate that they have a veggie crisps option on the side, which is really yummy and adds texture to the entire meal. Love it!
Luqman Skeef
Good service and friendly staff with good food to top it all off. Few pointers though<br/>Firstly my waitress didn't ask me how I want my eggs done so I was disappointed with 2 runny eggs which I dislike<br/>Secondly I would think that the cooks would know what goes into their Banting flap jacks as nobody could tell us if it contained sugar or not (which it didn't but still came with powdered sugar sprinkled over which defeated the purpose)<br/>And lastly I would suggest you put your Banting eggs Benedict on mushrooms as a base instead of eggplant as it provides more stability. The eggplant just wilts if not cooked properly (which on this occasion wasn't)<br/>That being said I would definitely go back to try the burger bar 😁

I found my experience here to be most odd. <br/><br/>Upon walking in, I asked whether the electricity was off as everything is dark. The fridges were unlit and all the lights were off. I was met with a very puzzled expression when I asked this and was told that the electricity was on. <br/><br/>My friends and I wondered around the restaurant for a while, not sure if it was a self service system before sitting down, or if a waiter would assist us. We eventually asked an apparent waiter if we could please sit outside at a table. <br/><br/>After ordering our drinks, just the bottles and cans were brought to the table. We had to ask for glasses. And then had to ask for ice once the glasses arrived. By then we were already twenty five minutes into first walking into the cafe. <br/><br/>The food that we ordered was enjoyable and wonderfully presented. That, I can commend them on. <br/><br/>Upon requesting the bill, we received the till slip plonked on our table. No container, no pen, no sweets, no booklet to hold the money. <br/><br/>We waited another fifteen minutes before going to find our waitress ourselves, to signal that we needed a card machine.<br/><br/>I'm not sure if this was just a bad day for them or if this is the way that the cafe runs. Whatever it is, I won't be returning any time soon. <br/>Pity, since the food is lovely.
Kid Next Door
Industry is a restaurant with a great theme and good food. However i felt uncomfortable throughout my meal due to the general atmosphere. I also dislike that the foods have allocated times in which they are served. Maybe i want to eat breakfast foods at four.
Naadiya
Heard a lot about the "burger bar" so we decided to try it out. The food was quite good and all the burgers were prepared well (pepper sauce burger was the best so far). Service was quite slow however the waiter was quite friendly- just not very good. Would give it another go.
Rokaya Vawda
First things first. Their Milkshakes suck! Except for the Oreo shake. Their burgers are good, service is fine .<br/>Many items in their limited menu is not available or sold out. Their chips are unique and so are the onion rings.
Anisha Lutchman
Two of my work colleagues and I were chatting the other day and one of them mentioned Industry. I decided to check it out and I have to say that I've discovered a gem that's right down the road from where I work. Although I've never sat down and had a meal, I've bought a few pastries and they have all been delicious. They offer a wide selection of breads, pastries and other baked goodies that are all reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting this place again!
Alicia Van Zyl
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Industry is very well priced, the food is all made fresh, so your order could take a little long, but order a slice of cake or a cookie if the wait is too much for your hunger, because all of it is DELICIOUS.
Kev
Like the industrial theme. Had the Omelette with cheese and chicken. The mushroom sauce was bland. Omelette was tasty but oily. Had the Banting Benedict , recommend this, was yum ; Will order this again. Staff are friendly, however, kitchen/barista turn around time can be improved.
David Leibowitz
Industry makes the most superb cakes and pastries! I've ordered peanut butter and chocolate cakes for functions on two occasions and they've both been absolute hits with the guests. Picked up a few extra things (brownies, cupcakes, apple crumble) for shabbas and our guests loved everything. The chefs are very accommodating with custom orders, and their cakes are very well priced. Highly recommend them for birthday cakes and catering!
Shameema Suleman
I recently had the opportunity to try out Industry Bakery Burger and Milkshake Bar. I ordered the beef burger and chips, however could not order milkshakes as they were out of stock of ice cream so that was a bit of a let down. I found the burger itself to be brilliant it was very tasty, however chips were normal American fries and not what was advertised. Also I found the portions to be a little small in relation to the price. The venue is quite small and cost and waitress was very friendly but service was extremely slow, I think if they can cope a bit better with crowds they could do very well with a much bigger venue to accommodate the huge demand 👍🏻
Molecules And Macaroons
Whilst I confess to loving bakeries in any shape and form, Industry is definitely a standout. The decor is fresh and modern but offers the comfort of a traditional bakery. If you are in the area, I recommend stopping by to get the nutella croissants and the quesadillas - they are delicious! The service is warm but efficient which makes it a fantastic place to grab lunch or coffee during a busy day.
Riaz Mohamed
Very poor service and food either not available or not fresh. Menu and kitchen looked disorganized and unhygienic. The concept is great and could be exciting if management slow down a little, hire more staff and offer q decent dining venu.
Zaakirmahomedy
Absolutely pathetic service. The setup is amateurish at best. I waited 1 hour for food that was cold and even the incorrect order. Will never go back. Ever.
Roshan Rahmtoola
Visited twice this weekend. First for burger Friday & then brunch today. Burgers & my peanut butter & choc chip milkshake was yum and service was good. This morning's breakfast was ok, coffee was rather disappointing & slow service. Suggest reserving a table for Sunday as gets really busy.
Zaakiyah
Popped in this afternoon. Found the bakery offerings pretty average although they had an amazing selection of baked breads and rolls. There selection at the fridge of take home warm ups, of chocolate croissants looked yum!! Staff are pretty friendly and the easy going atmosphere makes it a great chill spot. I chose the simple scone and macaron for a afternoon tea treat. Will head back soon for there delicious gourmet burgers as seen on there Instagram page and breakfast.<br/><br/>2 days later I headed back for there must have burgers and YES it was delicious definitely a must try!! Simply tasty although I took a take away it was packaged neatly. Absolutely loved there burger bun!
Nazrana Tar
Firstly- they don't answer the phone but they do make time to instantly respond to Instagram comments. The burgers were amazing but the service was putrid. The food took ages to come, it seemed like there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant on a very busy morning. The side dishes came after the meal and they didn't have some of the side dishes which we were only made aware of after. We were not given enough cutlery which we eventually had to get ourselves. There was no juices at all and we had to get our own drinks as the waitress was rather busy. We didn't bother trying any of the smoothies or milkshakes as we feared it would be out of stock or take ages to come! When our bill arrived - it only contained half the stuff we ordered... And there was no one at the cashier when we wished to pay for some confectionary on the way out. I don't think I'd go there in a hurry again 👍
ZaaKira Moola
I've been here quite a few times now for breakfast and I've really enjoyed the food. It's not really innovative or anything just delicious handmade food. I'd recommend the stuffed croissants. I also really love their baked goods. The almond croissants are my favourite!
Nazira Hoosen
I had breakfast here and i loved it. Lovely atmosphere, loved the decor, service was excellent. We had the cajun chicken quiche which was ok, iv tasted better, but the steak croissant with caramelised onions and Emmenthal cheese was to die for. The food was well presented and enough for one person and a light meal. For something sweet, we tried the the pecan maple danish which was excellent. Will definitely be going back very soon.
Heena Ramjee
Best chocolate chip cookie and crunchie in town :)<br/><br/>Beautiful set up, good service and range of products! <br/><br/>Newest coffee hangout and a definite #HiddenGem 👍😀
Tables And Thyme
Industrial looking spot where you can grab your daily bread or to sit down for a meal. Sadly no Nutella croissants in sight! Delicious Mixed Berry Smoothie. The smoked croissant wasn't amazing although the croissant itself was good. Has a lot of potential just needs to iron out a few challenges. Shop for a sweet treat after your meal - the cakes and koeksisters looked tempting!
Masoodah Essop
Really chilled atmosphere. Good family spot for a Sunday breakfast. Ordered the kiwi and mint smoothie and the ementhaal and cherry tomatoes omelette. Both left me feeling like I could accomplish great things with the rest of my day?? however my omelette was a tad cold, and it's the second time I've been there and they had no electricity.
Garth Balabanoff
Industry is a sweet little bakery just off the top of Barry Hertzog. Having seen the reviews of others I decided to pop in for a quick coffee and croissant. Industry has a very relaxed atmosphere and wasn't busy when I visited - so if you're looking for a quite place to do some mails with a good coffee and freshly baked croissant try it out.
Arjun Sinha
A nice new bakery with a lot of potential. I had the Nutella croissant which was really good, a Malay koeksister (awesome) and an Americano which was a bit too watered down for my liking. <br/><br/>If they put a bit more effort in their industrial design (which I love), it just seems a bit rough around the edges, serve their pastries in proper plates and not paper ones, this place will be amazing!
Kate Parker
I definitely think this lovely industrial style cafe has quite a bit of potential. The decor is simple with interesting photographs as a feature on one wall. The baked treats are lovely, the nutella croissant is a must. The downside, and something that needs a bit of improving - everything is served in disposable cups and on paper plates which doesn't scream sophisticated. A bit more focus on providing top notch baked goods and coffee and replacing those disposable items and Industry will be a winner!
TheJoburgFoodie
Stunning venue that's bound to become a rest stop for many a hipster. Love the decor and atmosphere. While the baking itself isn't anything ground breaking, Industry offers good old-fashioned baking - think of those corner cafe crispy rolls perfect with a smear of butter. There cakes and pastry were also really good and with a bit more experience there coffee should be up to scratch too! Our favourite: Nutella Croissant.
