One of our favorite restaurants in JHB. Fantastic ambience, amazing service, and the best steak you’ll find in JHB! On our latest visit (we are regulars!), we ordered the ceviche for starters to share- absolutely delicious. We ordered the prawns and sirloin on the bone, which was out of this world. Great wine list too and our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. It’s quite a tucked away little spot which is great for a date night.
One of the best meat restaurants in Joburg. Lamb chops delicious. Steaks also perfectly done. No room to try any dessert thought. Good ambience. An evening and money well spent.
This steak house is everything, real deal Argentinian! Still one of my faves, and very consistent with Cpt branch in terms of quality of food and service! Wish they could resolve the fly problem though, they had mint in boiled water which didn’t seem to deter them.
I love love love this place, relaxed ambience! The food is all fresh & perfectly prepared! Tuma is the perfect host! Did I mention that I’ve had most of the dishes on the menu and blown away every time!

My baby girl turned 20 today and wanted to treat her (and me) to a great piece of meat at a nice restaurant. Don Armando Illovo was the choice for this beautiful Sunday lunch and was not a disappointment.
From the welcome of the manager, the bread with that great homemade dressing everything started great. Took one look at the menu and was so happy to see a menu targeted to only one cuisine which is becoming more of the exception in South Africa.
The other pleasant surprise was the sweetbread on the menu. Few restaurants have them on the menu and few of those can prepare them correctly. These were so smooth and tender just a treat. The rump that followed was not only so tender but cooked to perfection bringing out the full flavour of the meat. Dessert was simple but so well prepared and tasty. Those fried bananas made the perfect ending to this birthday celebration.

Service at this little local spot is super impressive. Candle lit dinner and murmers of 'this is delicious' throughout. Our second time here and ill be back!
Service and ambiance are good; chicken spectacular but I found the meat (beside the prime rib) to be pretty average... Che in Maboneng is the better option if you looking for authentic Argentinian food
Don Armando has become a firm favourite for me and my friends. Great food, professional service and relaxed al fresco style atmosphere. The first time I visited, 3 of us shared a picanha steak which was cut into medallions and served in a large dish for us - a great idea for 3-4 pax. We enjoyed a great bottle of Malbec and were doted on by an attentive and amusing waiter. I've also had the fillet several times and maintain that Don Armando does the best steak in town right now.
My family and I were decided to have dinner on a week night so without booking we just arrived at Don Armando where they were more than happy to serve us.
The Argentinian Steakhouse's retro look really compliments the cosy atmosphere inside. The staff are very friendly and always happy to accommodate everyone's needs.
I ordered a rib steak on the bone that came with a fresh and crunch mixed vegetable bowl which was delicious! I marked the restaurant down because my steak was more on the dry side even though I had ordered my steak to be medium.
Overall I enjoyed my experience and I would recommend it for a family night out. I will definitely be back.
