I think this might be the only place to get good ice cream in Johannesburg. And it's not just the high quality of the gelato but also the setting in which you are able to enjoy it. Trieste has an easy going, homely feel, that if I had ever been to Italy I would imagine this is what a place selling ice cream in Venice would be like. The food is also great, I tried a roast beef panini on olive bread on my first visit and that's all I have every time since. A coffee, a roast beef panini and two scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone. Perfection.

Went to Trieste for a sweet treat. The decor is cute and happy, makes your mood better as you enter. I ended up getting two scoops of ice-cream: bar one and vanilla. The ice-cream was good, but at R27 a scoop, it was pretty pricey in comparison to an ice-cream from Paul's which is R25 a scoop and has more of a unique taste. Nice place though.

Um....YUM! There's not many places around joburg who offer good ice cream in a cone. Trieste makes some goood ice cream - full of flavour. The owner/manager is so friendly and helpful.

Have been going to Trieste for over 10 years. Without a doubt, the best ice cream in Johannesburg. Their panini are excellent and fillings cater for vegetarians as well. Excellent coffee. Service always good with friendly staff. Really worth a visit!

Casual spot on the Greenside strip to stop for gelato. Cherry, Pistachio and Salted Caramel were delicious however slightly expensive at R24 a scoop.<br/><br/>

Nice little Italian coffee shop that has great gelato. The owner had been to Italy to be trained on how to make the perfect scoop of ice cream and has really excelled at this the place also serves coffee and sandwiches

So cute! Tiny little place, they serve samies and handy foods, but really tasty! I had the salami toastie, they are not shy with the cheese or the salami. My boyfriend had the beef samie, also not shy with the beef, (I even liked his better than mine!)... They're all great... But their selling point... Is their ICE-CREAM. It is so delicious, it's not too sweet and overwhelming and you can choose the most amazing flavours, such unusual combinations, and what cone you'd like it in, or a cup of course. If you don't stop by for anything else but their amazing ice-cream, you're still a winner! They also have sorbet/yoghurt kind of ices, if you're not a cream fan. Love this little treasure. Love. One of the very best ice-creams I've ever had<br/><br/>This place is such a cute and cosy local establishments that offers a great variety of dishes (both sweet and savoury) it's definitely a great place to grab waffles and ice-cream. The service is friendly, welcoming, efficient and quick 👍🏽<br/><br/>I had a trio of flavours served with a crispy wafer:<br/>Vanilla <br/>Walnut <br/>Rose infused (with actual rose petals which were kind of overpowering and the texture was disturbing)

I've been to Teiste twice now and it's been good. Love the little outside deck which is a great spot to enjoy some ice cream. <br/><br/>Most recently we had the chocolate brownie flavour as well as the coconut. The coconut was really nice with little pieces of fresh coconut mixed in. The brownie flavour chocolaty goodness. <br/><br/>Overall, nice little spot to enjoy some good ice cream.

Perfect spot for a chilled family lunch on a Sunday. Impeccable homemade gelato with fresh and tasty panini's indefinitely make for any happy family. Best part is that you can buy tubs of the icecream (in flavours that make your heart sing) to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Coffee is good too.

Let me start off by saying - CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM! I won't mention the number of times I have popped by to grab a cone of this delishness after class before I head home (I attend the design college down the road). Toasted sarmies and waffles are amongst some of their hearty comfort foods I have had. I have yet to taste their apparently amazing home-made soups.

This is a great family run spot in Greenside. In summer I often try their Gelato's which are absolutely supreme. Expect to find anything that Italian eat here, from cold meats to cheeses. The paninis are delish and the prices are not that bad either. In winter you can try their home-made soup or you can go into their freezer to buy ready cooked meals to warm up at home.

This is a lovely little spot in Greenside, with delicious, fresh cheeses and cold meats. They also have some ice cream on offer and superb paninis. Their tortellini and ravioli are also delicious, easy meals to prepare at home. I'd recommend this for a quick, quiet lunch.

Experienced shocking service here. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon just before 5pm and the lady at the till was serving a customer. I stood with my husband and 2 kids at the ice cream counter for a few minutes deciding what flavours they wanted. All the while the manager/owner (not sure) stood watching us. When I then asked for a flavour he said to me it's in storage. We looked at him puzzled as we could clearly see the ice cream, perhaps he was referring to the cups?? We asked what's in storage he said "well we actually closed at 4pm already". Odd, since when we walked in they were still serving customers. We left with 2 very upset kids. Not at all impressed with the service. What a disappointment after often driving pass this place and wanting to try the ice-cream. I will never step foot in there again, quite a humiliating experience.

By far the best panini I have ever had! And I don't say that lightly boys and girls, every other panini I have encountered the ciabatta is always rock hard and tends to cut the top of your mouth open. Trieste is a lovely little hidden gem highly highly recommend, I'm just sad I didn't get to try the ice cream but I will be making a return trip very soon. <br/>

An absolute gem! The owners are ultra friendly and I love it when I go there and there are people playing chess, local meeting.<br/>They offer the best sandwiches in JHB, with perfect filling combinations.<br/>I have had their gelato a few times and it's always been excellent! Try their lemon sorbet and their tum and raisin ice cream. Wow.

I love love love this little gem in Greenside. I can walk there from my home and my dog is welcome too (outside on the deck). <br/><br/>I have never tasted sandwiches and panini's like this before. So delicious. I always ask for extra artichokes and peppers. <br/><br/>The home made gelato is fantastic too. Try their affogato (Espresso over a scoop of ice-cream), waffles, salads and Friday lunch special of Gnocchi with a choice of pesto or bolognese topping. <br/><br/>Oh - I almost forgot about their delicious coffee. Definitely one of my favourites.........
