Review Salvation Cafe - Johannesburg

Lena
We had a super delicious breakfast here! The atmosphere was great. A little hidden hotspot with really good food, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can sit inside or outside. The pictures speak for themselves! Absolute recommendation. 😍

This place is simply fantastic. That’s all there is to it. We had one of the “duos”, which was the royale Benedict and Caribbean flapjacks. Both meals were absolutely delicious, beautiful flavors and beautifully prepared and presented. I could come here everyday

Ver cool space with couple of super nice terraces, the salvation coffee one is quite big and with lots of space. Wide range of offering in terms of meals and drinks, quality of food is ok taking into account the price. The beverages (juices and other) are quite good. The service is ok, but nothing amazing

Ran out of star ratings. The food is great, the seating is made to be comfortable and for long visits. Good coffee, and if you have great company you can be here the whole day.

Went on a Sunday morning, it was quite busy so service was a bit slow and unfortunately we went during loadshedding hours, so their blended drinks weren't available, however the food was very tasty. I went specifically for the cheesecake, and it really did not disappoint, it was super creamy, and not too dense and overwhelming.

I recently went to this Cafe with a friend who recommended it. And I had no regrets! We both had the Chai latte which was thicker than I'm used to but otherwise delicious. We ordered the New York cheesecake and it met the outstanding expectations! I don't generally like cheesecake but the one from Salvation Cafe has made me reconsider that stance. The only downside to this cafe was the brownie we ordered. For the price it was, we expected a much bigger brownie but were very disappointed when we received it. The flavour was great but for the size and price, either reduce the price or make the brownies bigger. I did go during a quieter time of the day, around 15h00, so there were plenty of seating areas available. The outside seating area is what I chose and I have no regrets, despite the windy weather it was overall a calming experience to be enjoying delicious food and yummy beverages outside under umbrellas. I am not sure how family-friendly the Cafe is, so I would recommend checking the place out yourself before bringing small children. The prices do run higher so don't come here if you have a tight budget. The service was good, it could improve in terms of having more waiters available but the waiter we did have was a friendly gentleman who treated my friend and I with respect and kindness.

Had breakfast on a Saturday , the place gets packed and there was a small event inside so we decided to seat outside thou it was cold the blankets and warm heater provided have a warm feeling as if we were having breakfast by a little forest. Friendly staff, great food and atmosphere and most importantly quite affordable. Finding parking is a bit of a struggle as the place gets packed

Loved everything about this place. The food is lovely, the atmosphere is beautiful and buzzing. However do not expose your phone, keep it hidden, it's not 100% safe outside the shops. I would come back 100 times over to eat. Our waiter Sky was so lovely and always smiling. Next time I am coming for the famous Cheesecake.

Firstly the owner being present makes all the difference. Food is absolutely spectacular, service good. Definitely Johannesburg best breakfast spot. The staff standing in front need to learn how to greet though and take a tip from the owner.
Alistair Miggels
Great place with a hipster upmarket feel to it. The brunch menu is unique and honestly delicious. There is seating available inside and outside and reservations are only accepted after 12. Definitely not a place for a quick bite, rather enjoy the experience/vibe of the place with your friends and family. Staff are friendly from the entrance and they add to the experience.

Great place, went with team from work. Portion could have been bigger, couldn't find favourite ingredient on my plate. Food delicious especially the cakes. Only issue with atmosphere is a little noisy for me - could only communicate with a handful of people at the table. Service guides, well managed and would like to go again. PS. Paid parking didn't seem secure so parked on the street with car guards
Christa van Zyl
Amazing venue with excellent service and delicious food. The cheesecake is, of course, the best in Gauteng, but honestly, so is the carrot cake. In over a decade of dining there, I have yet to find any meal I dislike. Everything is done to perfection. Prices are reasonable. Service is excellent.
Siphiwe Mkhwanazi
The ambiance here is simply gorgeous, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely Saturday spent having some lighthearted fun with loved ones. The food is undeniably amazing and ranks among the best. You can clearly discern the quality, likely because the owner is often present and overseeing things, ensuring you receive top-notch food. The atmosphere almost transports you to a serene forest, adding to the overall charm of the place.

Located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. Lots of cool shops but this cafe really stood out for me. Food was fabulous, especially the egg and bacon croissant.definitely recommend anyone who wants a good brunch place!

On multiple occasions, I have had the best meals of my life at Salvation Cafe. The breakfast menu is very extensive and absolutely DELICIOUS! The breakfast menus caters to those with a sweet or savoury tooth, to vegans and vegetarians and those looking to have a boozy breakfast with their mimosas. I would 1000% recommend Salvation Cafe and it is tucked away in a peace and green part of Joburg.

I enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast on a fine winter morning.. food was very well prepared.. served with a nice coffee. Would recommend this place to anyone doing a trip through JHB!
Asia Beldyga
I really liked the location and the vibe of the place. Great menu, tasty food. I definitely recommend it. Nice and good service. I came during the weekend and it was busy so we had to queue a bit. Remember they serve breakfast until 12.00 so make sure to be there earlier.
Samantha Fernandes da Costa
Amazing Pulled Pork Roll & Vietnamese Spring Rolls Terrible Homemade Ice Cream that was icey, oiley texture left on top palette, overpriced and looked like it came out of a yoghurt cup mould. (double thumbs down) Waitress had no idea what to was, nevermind suggest gluten-free options on the menu.
Patricia Ndlovu Lewis
Loving the drinks and the food 100%.The service 200%.Beautiful place to hang around with friends and family. If you never been there start making your way. .
Retha Madumise
As usual the food was amazing. Unfortunately we were told at 12:15 that our table had been reserved for 12:30. It would have been great to get that information when we sat down. At that point we just finished eating and were only halfway through the bubbly we ordered. The person allocating seats didn’t offer a solution and we were just expected to leave. Very disappointed.

The atmosphere, the food, service, everything was just on point👌🏿

Food was outstanding, service first class and overall a lovely place for a meal

Great vibe, tasty food - enjoyed the Thai fish cakes, chicken spring rolls and spicy calamari. It was a really busy Sunday afternoon but the waiters were on their toes. Nice spot, will go back.
Ethan Sommerfeld
Their food is amazing! Of the 4 days I spent in Johannesburg, I ate here 3 of those days. The food is amazing, the atmosphere friendly and the staff so awesome!
Kalpana Mistry
An awesome place to be...yummylicous food...friendly...staff.. thumbs up
Harri Ave Vithi
The Salvation Gourmet Burger was a tad dry. That being said they have the most delicious well dressed salad, guacamole and some kind of sun dried tomato sauce thingy. The hubby loved it and I hear the breakfast is great. Not bad.
Elodie Bonnefon
Very good food and good vibes. Great pla 've for breakfast/brunch/lunch. My favourite: Royal duo
Claire Scott Livings
Love the atmosphere, food is great and our waiter was attentive.👍

Rainy day next to the fire, red wine and lovely food... Amazing!
Bryce Bennetts
The absolute BEST!! Had the brandy steak, calamari as well as the cheese cake. Don’t think I’ve had steak so tender in my life. And the most delicious cheese cake EVER !!
Razia Ismail
My favorite breakfast place!! Burritos to die for!!

This Sweet & Savoury Duo for my confused tastebuds from @mysalvationcafe hit all the right spots🔥 Definitely worth a revisit this summer🌞

Stanley 44 is really quaint and cute. Only street parking is available though. The outdoor feel of the restaurant is really lovely and tranquil, complimented by the blue decor. We ordered a coffee, passion fruit & lemonade, Asian noodle bowl and nachos. It came to about R280 with a 10% tip. The food was delicious! Although it was busy, we were served in a fair amount of time and received our food relatively quickly. The food was presented fairly
Andile Mthembu
Fast service and friendly staff. Love the ambience as well. This place is always my go to spot for lunch or breakfast. Love it!
Forever Famished
Only the best brekkie/brunch spot in JHB, @mysalvationcafe is an easygoing cafe, with some good jams in the air and some fresh, healthy and scrumptious vibes coming out their kitchen! They’re Vegan and Vegetarian friendly. This place is my fav spot for brunch and allows me to Mimosa my way through life! Find them at 44 on Stanley 🥞🍳🥂☕️ #breakfast #brunch #foodie #foodiesofinstagram #foodiegram #foodography #foodiesofsa #44onstanley #salvationcafe #mimosa #eggs #shrooms #pancakes #lovefood #jhb

I ordered the five spice calamari and New York style cheesecake. The service is slightly slow but overall the food is amazing. I absolutely love the spot where the restaurant is situated. Nice and trendy. The menu is very very limited, there’s not much on there.
FatCake101
I ordered chai latte, I loved how it was not too sweet which is very rare as most restaurants have it extremely sweet. The chai may be too milky though. Food was well prepared, but there are limited options as there are set times for both breakfast and lunch. Service was slightly slow, but I love where this restaurant is situated, it has this trendy vibe to it.
Veganroo
It's a beautiful, cool, hipster cafe in the hub of 44 Stanley. They have a few vegan options to choose from. The ambiance is incredible and they have a diverse menu.

I ordered a Chai latte with almond milk which I can honestly say is the best Chai latte I've had in ages. Not too sweet, not too overpowering, absolutely perfect. (5/5)

I then ordered the Vietnamese salad with sesame tofu. The tofu was soft and fluffy, a little bit too oily, but really delicious. The peanut sauce was so yum and really gave the salad a kick. I enjoyed the crunchiness of the salad from the sprouts and peanuts as well. The salad was light and perfect. (4.5/5).

I'm definitely coming here again to try more things off the menu.
Rhoodie Dakamela
Brilliant place; warm and cosy. The breakfast is absolutely heartwarming. Staff are extremely friendly and their coffee tastes awesome. Try the creamy scrambled eggs - just like how grandma would have made them!

Love. Love. Love. 💛💛💛
I went there for my birthday brunch a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Delicious food and great vibe.
It’s a great breakfast/lunch spot!
Jarrod Michael-Sylar Prinsloo-Bluth
Very relaxed vibes. I had the Caesar Salad with chicken which was great! My partner had the Gourmet Burger which looked amazing. The service is excellent too.
Gareth Cherry
Lovely Cafe in a Lovely setting. The Coffee was great but not the best I’ve had.The omelette which was served was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. The service is a little slow when it’s busy but overall an enjoyable experience.I would come back.
Food Talk
Food was really good and the vibe was a jol but the service was shocking. It took 20 minutes from the time we sat down to be served. I would recommend going if you don’t mind waiting a while for service.
Jozan Van Deventer
Should be a 4.5 The waitress, ambiance and the food was lovely. Would just reccomend that they add their salt and seasoning while preparing the burgers and fish cakes so that they are seasoned all the way through and not just on top. Still enjoyed it though!
Sean Jones
If you have a busy day and you want a peaceful spot to have lunch, Salvation Cafe is the place to go. The setting in the midst of Jozi is tranquil and a very good business spot. Service is average. Based on what we ordered and having first timers with us, the food was good but not great. Overall, a good experience.
Zain And Faye
The atmosphere in this place would have to be the most relaxing and it makes you feel at ease. It's like a little escape from the busyness of Joburg lifestyle.

We had the salvation breakfast, the eggs benedict with bacon and spinach, iced-coffee which was amazing & pineapple carrot cake for dessert - so yummy since it wasnt overwhelmingly sweet. Food was great and reasonably priced. Although there were a lot of people, our food came pretty quickly and the service was good. I will come back over again to try the other items on the menu but it was definitely a great first time experience 😊
Jaco De Wet
I really like Salvation Café, but we had a very unfortunate experience when we visited them for brunch. We ordered the food and right before the food arrived, the waitress informed us that the cake which one of us ordered was not available. She brought a menu for an alternative and then immediately brought the other meals. We ended up not ordering a replacement meal and that was the last we saw of the waitress for the next half an hour. We called her over and asked for the bill, after which she disappeared again for 15 minutes. We called her over again and asked her for the bill AGAIN. It's unfortunate that a waitress cab ruin a good place completely...
Zee
Ordered the pancakes and poached eggs with spinach , the food was decent nothing mind blowing …nice place to meet up with a few friends and grab a quick bite if you in the area .

So a few months back I went back and tried the cheesecake and wow my mind was blown , it’s pretty amazing!
Megz Mackintosh
My friend and I tried this spot after a 10km run and it was outstanding! We had the savory French toast with halloumi and basil pesto (I forgot to take a picture of the meal because I was too hungry). Will without a doubt be back!
Sashin Naidoo
An awesome cafe with an outdoors vibe. Sunday brunch has never been so perfect. The Red Latte paired with the American styled pancakes are really great. The pancakes are perfectly round, light and fluffy! The prices aren’t bad either. It’s quite a busy and popular cafe.
Angelo Aquilano
Can this place ever get a cake wrong? I really don't think so. Great setting and the coffee is always a treat. I don't get the chance to go here often enough.
Lisa Nyoka
Pretty disappointed in the recent experience I had at this restaurant. I ordered the garden wrap, and the other orders included a Thai green curry with tofu as well as a cheeseburger. The general consensus around the table was that all our meals lacked flavour. I did however bring this up with our waitress so that she could provide feedback to the kitchen staff. We also ordered gin & tonic with lemon & cucumber but there no effort whatsoever put into making the drinks look aesthetically pleasing, and for R79 that's what I would expect. Overall, quite a poor experience.
Theloveofgoodfood
Tranquil setting in centre city Joburg which warms my heart any and every time I visit.

One of the best burgers I’ve had in Gauteng. Utterly delicious with the perfect ratio of patty, guac, caramelised onions and bacon.

The coffee is also a winner but a special mention needs to go out to the New York Cheesecake - definitely the speciality and star of the Salvation Show.

Douglas Lorimer
Had breakfast with the Mrs and the kids here today. The kids reported that their hot chocolate was particularly good, and gave a double thumbs up for the salvation breakfast. My eggs Benedict was excellent, and the breakfast burrito was tasty and large.
Service was good - Not in your face, but suitably attentive despite the restaurant overflowing. Setting is also lovely with the treed courtyard and balcony. For some reason we only seem to come here in winter, and the courtyard is too chilly for us, but the balcony is enclosed and heated, taking the edge of the chill.
Definitely worth a visit.
Linda Lunsche
Best pancakes in Johannesburg, lovely setting great breakfast choice, waiters very pleasant and service good. A really lovely Saturday morning experience
Gracie Kay
Winter is upon us so I was in a quest to find one of the best hot chocolates in Johannesburg. The hot chocolate here totally lived up to expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Looking forward to going back :D

Simple but sweet. Perfect brunch spot for a sunny day. Friendly waiters and pleasant environment. Perfect setting for a friendly catch up or informal meeting, good coffee and mimosas
Lebogang Desiree Maphelela
What a lovely place to be at. Went out for breakfast and the service was awesome. We were seated outside and they had blankets to cover up if it gets chilly. The food was amazing, beautifully plated. I liked their Salvation Duo which is a mixture of sweet and savory on one dish. Their ice tea was also nice. An overall, good experience.
Tey Carter
Good food! Most amazing burger I’ve ever had!!! Even salivate as I think of it. The staff weren’t the friendliest but the food is great! It’s something to look forward to in that area!
Reneè K
Loved it...the food is delicious and service fantastic. Absolutely enjoyed the vibe and trendy feeling. My best breakfast place yet. Could do better with keeping the area cleaner.
Paulvanstaden81
Love it! Felt like I was dining at one of the quaint cafe, situated on a busy sidewalk, in the picturesque settings of France. The ambience and occasional waft of an old school, wood burning fire place, add to the nostalgic serenity that forms part of the experience. I enjoyed my breakfast, the granola bowl, to such an extent, that I found myself wondering how I could conveniently start my day at Salvation Deli, regularly.
Lunch time was not as pleasant, but only due to the fact that the meal, brandy pepper steak, was cold by the time it reached the table. I attribute this to the rather sudden drop in outside temperature and the fact that the cafe was busy.
All in all, I am impressed with entire experience and look forward to visiting again soon.
Lynette
Had breakfast there again this morning after a long time. Food was terrible, I had the basil mushrooms with a soft poached egg. It
Was like soup. The service was shocking, had to ask for serviettes 2x and not once did anyone ask if we needed anything and /or if the food was ok. We had to keep trying to get the waitress’s attention for extra coffee etc. Won’t go back. Real pity as it has a nice setting. Bad management.
Supervundu
Dropped in for a late lunch. Had a great ham and cheese toastie which was next and a more than above average Malay chicken curry - the best part was the in-house tomato chutney (ask your waitress for it). Will be back for more.
Nina Formanek
THE FRENCH TOAST IS HEAVENLY SENT.
// the courtyard has a lovely vibe
// service is good and fast
// perfect place to go for a Saturday morning spoil
Zak Tucker
Service was poor. The waiter got my order wrong and brought me a ham omelette- and I’m a vegetarian.
Waiter then brought the wrong bill and took another 15 minutes to correct it.
Zanenkululeko Belot
Had brunch here yesterday, I’ve been meaning to try this place for years but never got around to doing it

So I tried their Chicken Caesar Wrap, with their Salvation Iced Tea. The wrap itself was a good sized portion, with fresh ingredients and bold flavours which I loved. The Iced Tea itself was bordering on bland
Sphamandla Shilubana
Wonderful place. The food is amazing, very chilled vibes and warm friendly staff. I recommend it to any foodie out there. It's also in a wonderful location. I went again today (16/12/2019) for breakfast .... The food was amazing but the service was a bit slow. I think they have a small kitchen. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food to arrive.
A Foodie Travels
Situated at trendy 44 stanley Salvation cafe.Good for sunny and clear summer day .Headed indoors as was bit overcast weather.Had Florentine eggs with lemon cordial,Florentine eggs were lovely and service good.
RCS
Just because we were a table of two, does not mean that we automatically get the slack of the circus of a service because the bigger tables get serviced first and foremost. The quality of the food cannot be faulted.
Paul Habib III
You cannot fault the quality of the food. However my ratings are based merley on SERVICE. From waiting for a menu for 15 minutes to getting my drinks wrong that took 20 minutes it was an absolute circus in there today. Had to cancel my food order because it only went through 15 minutes prior to ordering. Bad day for salvation cafe

salvation cafe is in area in milpark that i had no idea existed. you guys, i was blind but now i see. i felt like i was in a different country as that was a very unfamiliar place for me (in a good way). i must say i hated the fact that we passed 2/3 other restaurants before getting to salvation cafe - we could've easily went for one of the others.

we did go on a sunday morning so the plan was breakfast of the champs! my partner doesn't eat eggs (loser) so he had the pancakes with berry coulis, fruit and yoghurt. i, on the other hand, had the eggs, grilled tomatoes, creamy mushrooms, bacon and toast. salvation cafe does not play when it comes to their eggs. i love mine sunny side up and i don't think i've been more in love than at that moment when that beautiful yellow yolk spilled out 😍 that was definitely the hero of my dish. the mushrooms and tomatoes - i didn't enjoy. the tomatoes tasted like baby purity (i love purity but i want my tomatoes tasting like tomatoes) and i think the problem with the mushrooms was the creamy sauce. it was such a let down. i'm not a fan of bacon (who's the loser now) but salvation cafe bacon isn't all too bad. it was the perfect amount(?) of crispy! i washed this amazing food down with a mimosa and an immune booster (yum)!
my partner's pancakes were amazing; so fluffy and moist. they were a bit too sweet for my liking, but perfect for my lover-of-sweet-things partner.
i've been thinking about this place since i went there about a month ago. i'm finally done with exams and will be making my way back there soon.
Kananelo Sebati
Brunch is an institution at this place and trust me it is worth the wait. Service was good and we really enjoyed our meal. I still have to try lunch but it is worth another visit
Gary Greenberg
This place has an awesome location within the 44 Stanley market. They have a good selection of meals for breakfast, brunch and lunch in a unique setting. The service here is of a good standard and you should be able to get a take on a summery Saturday afternoon without booking.

I have tried their vegetarian burger which is on their new menu. It was filled with fresh ingredients and is a great portion. I would highly recommend popping into Salvation Cafe for a different and enjoyable meal.
Jade Larter
Would highly recommend the combo Eggs Benedict & French Toast or Caribbean pancakes. Absolutely delish!
Service was good enough. Nice to sit outside on a sunny day.
Ruan Du Plessis
Beautiful setting, delicious food and great service! Would definitely recommend for a late breakfast on Saturdays. Ps. The Belgian hot chocolate is to die for!
Rina
The setting is beautiful and Stanley 44 always have a great vibe to it, however the service was friendly but very slow and we waited very long for our food.
Pelonomi Manana
Great brunch session with great company. A wonderful outdoors area. Their Salvation Breakfast is truly filling and appetizing. The creamy mushrooms are super tasty. A must visit place for brunching with friends and family 😊
Jess Young
It was just after 3 pm on a lovely Sunday afternoon... we were in the area and after having been walking around for most of the early afternoon, we were famished and welcomed the proposal of a late lunch with open arms!

We sat outside, next to the fountain, which provided some nice ambiance, the weather complied and helped to contribute to a nice relaxed atmosphere.

I ordered the Salvation Gourmet Burger (medium). It was stacked impressively high and for a moment (only a moment) you wonder how on earth you are going to eat it! I'm not really one for bacon but the combination of the onions, bacon, beef pattie, mayonnaise and not to mention the dipping sauce worked wonders in my mouth - definitely a must try! My companion who ordered the same thing as me felt that the bacon was a bit fatty but I felt like it just added to the flavours and didn't perturb me much (my waistline had already succumb to the fact that this would be a full day of eating). For sides, I had a salad - my only gripe with restaurants in general is that they tend to serve the salad dressed and not with the dressing on the side, personally I always enjoy the crunch of the salad and prefer to have my salad more on the naked side.

For dessert, we had the New York cheese cake (baked), carrot cake and brownies with ice cream. I've deliberately put them in order of preference. The cheese cake was probably the most moist baked cheese cake I've ever tried and the berry compote complimented it well. Next up was the carrot cake which was also fantastic and again so moist! I do however feel like it's harder to make a dry carrot cake so less brownie points for that one ... speaking of which, the brownies were good too and they had a generous amount of hazelnuts, but for me, weren't as grandiose as the former two (even with the added ice cream). Perhaps I was also just bitter that by this time, the kitchen was closed and the "all day" pancakes were no longer available so I opted for the brownies as a 'compromise' (haha).

All in all, it was a fantastic afternoon lunch. If I had to find a fault, the tree we were sitting under kept on shedding it's tiny leaves into my Americano ...
Riona Arjoon
We brunched here as we love 44 Stanley. The setup is really cool and nice for a summers day. The food was good. Service was good. Do book in advance though.
Variza
Freshest food in joburg. Good spot for champagne brunch on a Sunday, lots of veg options, friendly staff and good vibes! Only disappointed I didn't find this place sooner!
Fareed Hare
When I tried this place I went back the next day for more. Fresh ingredients and delicious flavor combinations - I loved the butter chicken, not your traditional recipe but it definitely delivers when it comes to taste and flavor - they used almond butter and almonds to give it that unique taste. I also tried a traditional burger which was really well-seasoned and fresh. I didnt have a chance to try the desserts but I'm sure I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. The location is very nice and the staff is friendly.
Nixie
The breakfast is amazing worth a try. Small place so make a booking. Weekend outing. Lots of shops in the cornered off area. Coffee is great. Nothing bad I can say about this place
Danieljake
Salvation cafe is definitely my favourite establishment inside 44 Stanley, and I had the most amazing breakfast here just the other day.

I ordered the half Salvation Benedict half Carribean Pancakes.

The pancakes were soft and fluffy and served with fruits and a delicious compote.

The poached egg was soft and flavorful and served on a bed of creamed spinach.

The service is great and the staff are welcoming and friendly
Tanya Chirimuta
Super cute brunch spot! Very chilled atmosphere!
The Caribbean pancakes are everything and more! The service isn't the greatest but the food kept me distracted!
Tasmika Amin
Popped in for a quick week day lunch.

I love the setting, 44 Stanley just has the ability to make you feel relaxed and in a good holiday like mood somehow.

The soup special was very good. The soup was well flavoured and really one of the best I've had out. The caprese toasted sandwich was great and had just the right amount of garlic undertone.

I just wish they would serve breakfasts till a little later as they really are some good options on the menu.
Carice De Jager
Wowwee, really enjoyed this place. Their menu is small but every dish is high in quality.

You get exactly what you have ordered and more. I love the vibe and feel. Very honest food and service!
Sharima Bramannan
I think I chose the coldest day to visit Salvation Cafe...while the door being opened kept bringing in the cold, there was a cozy fire being lit inside. I had an eggs Benedict for breakfast...it was nice...although I prefer my hollandaise sauce with a little more tang. I also really enjoyed a ginger and mint tea that I had.
Leshani
A friend and I planned a breakfast here this morning. I had the mushrooms on toast while she had the eggs benedict with bacon. The meal was pleasant.
Mayuri
Service wasn't great. The Thai noodle salad with sesame chicken was light and fresh. Great red caps. Chips were cold but the salvation burger was ok. All day breakfasts should be considered. Nothing extraordinary.
Desiree Pillay
The is lack of variety on the menu. The service was terrible. The latte I ordered was cold and the side plate I requested to share my meal, arrived after we had finished our meal.
Courtney StarBerry
Salvationcafe is nestled deep within 44 Stanley and is obviously a very popular breakfast spot.
We arrived a few minutes to late for breakfast which is unfortunate as the flapjacks looked amazing and I will definitely be returning to try them. I ordered the cheese burger which was filling and succulent, I definitely recommend it.
There is a good vibe, adequate service and delicious food.
Benice De Wit
Great restaurant. Great spot and great vibe. Food is good and the waiters take care of you. I had the curry of the day, very nice and spicy. Happy to recommend this place.
Jürgen Fleischmann
Amazing brunch spot - worth waiting for an inside table during winter. Had the spinach scrambled eggs with a side of bacon (I lover spinach). Was beautiful!
Fabiana
Had the absolute best cheesecake ever from here ! 🍰 their burgers are delicious aswell 🍔
Lovely ambiance and everything on the menu sounds and looks delicious! 🎉
Monochrome
Good breakfast & coffee. Well presented. The avo on the eggs Benedict was a bit brown- so that was disappointing. Service was initially glum however the second waitress was very pleasant. Would recommend a try for breakfast.
Krinisha Kara
Oh the fresh air on a Sunday morning, filled with hints of fresh bread, toasted, eggs and syrup. I absolutely adore this cafe because of the vibrant variations of breakfast they offer! I thoroughly enjoyed my Florentine egg and tasted some of the Savoury French Toast made from the freshest bread, so soft like a pillow! The elements of pesto and the earthly taste of the halloumi gave the French toast a gorgeous flare, well worth the wake up drive into the city. Those pancakes are definitely a winner, they are soft, loving and complete soul food. The pancakes are not too sweet, making the various topping options an easy choice depending on your taste buds.

I will definitely run back for the live entertainment experience on a Sunday afternoon or Friday night. And have more mimosas! ❤
Ed Charles
Probably one of the best breakfasts in Jozi is the savoury French toast. But everything is awesome here. It's a place I keep returning to and will be back again to try more soon.
Ro Mi
Really tasty pancakes with yogurt, fruit and syrup. The Benedicts were ok. Nice carrot juice and capuccino coffee. One of the best places in Joburg for having breakfast.
Rahul Brambha
Well woke up late from the usual Saturday night shenanigans and decided to try out Salvation Cafe in Braam - best choice ever! We had Eggs Bennidict with Bacon and the pancakes with fruit which was amazing!!! 👌👏 Great vibe , live music and just a lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon!!
Mona Makwakwa
Salvation is the perfect go to place for breakfast and lunch. It's very ideal for meetings or quick catch ups. The food at this restaurant is always yummy, I have to say they are really consistent. The service at this place is very good and I must say the staff is trained very well, in the midst of our dining "loadshedding" happened and the staff improvised very well. Try the carrot cake and their cheese cake when you're there😜 you won't regret it😋😋😋
Jacques Wentzel
Had a lazy Saturday afternoon at home and I had a craving for a restaurant quality burger. I found Salvationcafe on UberEATS and ordered the Brunch burger. I wasn't disappointed, they weren't shy on the bacon and the egg was done perfectly. Would recommend.
Bridget Meyer
One of my favorite outdoor cafe's in JHB, Salvation Cafe is the perfect spot for breakfast or a simple cafe-style lunch. Over the weekends, it can be difficult to get a table, but absolutely worth a wait. I had a lazy lunch here on the Thursday public holiday and absolutely loved the 5 Spice Calamari - the sauce completely made the dish! Definitely worth a visit to 44 Stanley and this little spot.

Good food, beautifully scenic, friendly staff and good company. Salvation café is perfect for a brunch or lunch with work colleagues, your partner or friends. It's one of my new favourite spots in the city.

Post yoga breakfast with my bestie, what a treat this highly recommended gem is . The Belgium hot chocolate was divine, perfect way to warm up on a chilly autumn Jozi morning. We were undecided on the sweet or savory duo , and the pancakes sounded tempting as well. So we decided on sharing the savoury French toast and American pancakes . This was a perfect combo for us. We can't say no to pancakes. Both dishes were incredibly delicious. Service was warm , friendly and incredibly efficient. No doubt this will become a regular post yoga joint for us .

Sit in the filigree shade cast by the surrounding trees, linger over a glass of wine or a beer. It's really lovely here. Bring the children. Come for breakfast or lunch.
I've eaten here many times. To be honest, I find the food quite ordinary although it sounds fab on the menu.
Came during the week with a friend. We both had the 'special' no-bun veggie burger with halloumi, avo and salad. The burgers were advertised as made from chickpeas but they were weird, tasting only of curried butternut. The rest was fresh, the halloumi was delicious, the cappuccinos were good as was the service.
Disappointingly, the place was really empty for a Wednesday lunchtime. Not only the restaurant but everywhere. Yes - finding parking is generally a pain although a friendly car guard assured us we could block a gateway - so we did. But there's a whole parking garage one street to the north which leads you out directly across from the entrance. Weekends are busy.

I had the pork belly burger and my friend had chicken strips. The food was presented very well and tasted good. There aren't many options on the menu but I would go back for more.

I keep finding myself coming back for more, in my opinion the best break fast in town. Can't go wrong with the beef sausage breakfast burrito and of course their pancakes and sweet French toast is out of this world!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon, was very busy- good atmosphere. Service was fast and efficient. Ordered he salvation Gourmet Burger, definitely a must try but make sure you are hungry.

Went for Sunday lunch and enjoyed it thoroughly. Firstly, a lovely varied menu filled with interesting food and drink options (at good prices) plus a great specials menu too.

Opted for the sesame chicken salad with Vietnamese style noodles (part of the specials) freezo and frozen mint lemonade. All were excellent with great flavours and textures.

Service was a tad slow but nothing unreasonable. They were also friendly and accommodating - helping us find a suitable spot with our baby / pram. Plus a nice atmosphere, buzzing but not too hectic.

Would definitely go again and recommend to others.

This place is the definition of freshness!
Whilst visiting 44 Stanely this Sunday i decided to pop in here for lunch. I startes off with a coffee freezo which was great and then had the thai fish cakes- fresh, flavourful and delicious! For dessert i tucked into the baked cheesecake, i strongly recommend it aswell as the carrot cake (apologies as i did'nt take photos). I will definately be back!!

Salvation is one of those classic spots inside 44 Stanley! A great breakfast & lunch spot, I've been here a couple of time and the service is always good and the food is great!

What I had and absolutely loved was the brandy peppered fillet, my word it was amazing!!!

Salvation Cafe has the most incredible breakfast menu. The food is outstanding, and the portion sizes are ideal. I've had the Sweet Duo which is half French toast and half Eggs Florentine. I've also had the flapjacks. It's always a pleasure dining here ☺

Lunch as great! The service was quick, the options plentiful and the experience was seamless.

I'm normally incredibly indecisive but it was easy to choose what I wanted from the menu. To drink I had a Chai latte and some hot lemon water for the cold weather.
The waitress was attentive, she checked on us and treated us well. The food was fresh, well presented and their specials are definitely something to try.
There is creativity in options and plating, but the veg was a little cold, bare in mind there wasn't any electricity, so all is forgiven 😉

All smiles. Thanks @Salvationcafe!

Hidden in 44 on Stanley what a beautiful place. Cozy yet relaxed on the edge of a courtyard. Great coffee and breakfast spot. We struggled to find 1 choice on the menu and low and behold they have a selection of "Duo's"! I had the savoury due which is a eggs Benedict and savoury French toast with halloumi....absolutely delicious! Definitely a new breakfast hangout

What a wonderful experience on a lazy Sunday afternoon for lunch with mates. 🌞
The service was friendly and efficient. We were welcomed by a lovely lady by the name of Noma.
The food was fresh and absolutely delious😊💛
The foods included: Salvation Burger, Brunch Burgers and Spicy Calamari. Drinks included frozen mint lemonade and Soya cuppochinos.
Wonderful experience, can't wait to try the rest of the extensive menu.
This is a fantastic place for breakfast - amazing eggs benedict! I really think the strength of this place is the breakfast (lunch has always been pretty average), and it's a pity that they stop serving breakfast at noon. :( Other than that, amazing setting and great service!

Probably my favourite restuarant @ 44 Stanley. Love the menu, love the outdoor tables-make for a great lunch spot to meet with friends on a summer's afternoon. One of the best dishes i've tried include the spicy calamari salad. They can get quite busy on a saturday morning so you might have to wait for a table. I was quite disappointed that the whole of 44 Stanley closes for december holidays - they should consider opening in future for the locals that stick around Jozi during that period.

We absolutely love this spot for breakfast under the umbrellas. This is a must visit. The service is alway good and staff friendly. The coffee is always fresh and the perfect temperature. Portion sizes are good and the food is extremely tasty. There is a wide selection of breakfast options so there is always something for everyone.

Best breakfast spot in jhb... lovely setting in the courtyard. Some nice unique breakfast options e.g. Breakfast burrito & great half & half options! Good coffee & juices. Only negative: occasionally inattentive service.

So I finally got to Salvation and I'm not disappointed in the least. I love the courtyard setting. It doesn't even feel like you are in Johannesburg. All the surrounding shops are great! Special mention to Chocoloza! Their chocolate is amazing, I loved the Tonka Bean one and the Amaretto Gnash in particular! So back to Salvation. It did take a while for anything to get to the table but loved it when it got there! The hand cut fries are simple but delicious and I love the fact that the skin was still on them. I had a Caprese Sandwich, it was delicious but missing avocado. My friend had the Fish Cakes, they were so delicious! I had such food envy! Can't wait to try more and would love to try the baked goods!

We were very spoilt in getting to experience our Salvation meal under starry ⭐️ skies for 44 Stanley's "Summer Nights"! The festive fairy lights, balmy breeze and mellow music 🎶 in the background may skew my review, but I absolutely loved my experience (and any place that has my favourite bubbly on the menu has my heart! )

For me, "bowl food" is "Soul Food" so when my fresh Vietnamese salad with cool mango and warm ginger arrived, my tummy did a little dance of gratitude! It was just as fresh and flavoursome as it looked and our waitress, Perfect, certainly lived up to her name!

I would certainly recommend this special little spot!

A beautiful place situated in a an equally beautiful setting at 144 Stanley , Salvation Cafe doesn't disappoint ! True to its name this little sanctuary is the perfect getaway for excellent breakfast ,brunch or lunch with friends and family . Although slightly on the pricier side , the food is excellent and well prepared ! Both my wife and I enjoyed our haloumi burrito & eggs Benedict respectively. Beautiful flavours they simply tantalizes the tastebuds. The kids absolutely loved their flapjacks. The restaurant has an awesome vibrant atmosphere. Best to get their early especially on weekends. Service was average and I expected better, but that won't stop me from visiting Salvation Cafe to try out the other menu options .

Had a divine breakfast at Salvation Cafe two weeks ago. We will definitely be back to try the lunch. The setting at 44 Stanley is nice, relaxed and very pretty. My eggs Benedict with bacon and sweet french toast with fruit was really good. Husband had a normal breakfast and kids the crepes. No complaints.

They have a relatively small menu but what they do they do well . The burgers are very popular , decent size , well cooked and wedges was good . Service is always good and the setting is great .
