Review Rosetta Roastery - Woodstock

Ronier Zalnieriunas
Dropped by for a quick coffee and had a delightful experience. The folks behind the bar know their coffees and take their craft seriously. I tried the progressive option for my espresso and was a little disappointed. They immediately offered to remake the coffee and adjusted the extraction. Extracting light roasts is difficult and they did well the second time round. The espresso tonic (can’t recall if that was the name) was a super cool concept that I’d never tried before. Be try tasty as well. The ambiance was relaxed and the bar beautiful. Highly recommend a visit here if you like coffee.

Rosetta is at the apex of coffee brewing in Cape Town, the only downside to their cafe at Bree is the size of the space - all that goodness needs a larger space. They do make up for it with the patio seatings and quite cleverly too. Their coffees are beyond delicious - whether you’re taking straight black with zero frills like the gods intended or you’re bathing the beans in luxuriously frothy milk for the adventurous ‘cinos and lattes, their brews have got zero acidity to the taste.

Decent coffee and chill/modern cafe. I liked that you could select the beans for your drink, but found the cortado a little bigger and milky than most other places (they did not use the traditional cortado glass).

Coffee 12/10, Sinikiwe’s flat-white was so good today (as it is EVERYDAY) it transcended a regular light/medium-roast-milk-coffee-drink and became more of a vanilla chocolate almond cherry milkshake served hot, at the perfect temperature. Aesthetically perfect, respectfully the best in Cape Town, Rosetta my love, I’ll always be back!

undeniably the best cafe experience in the country… a must visit if you want a memorable food-service-atmosphere experience. the food is always amazing and the coffee is the best you will ever have; the service is best in class - the team works together like a family and always makes you feel right at home; the atmosphere is always giving “homely vibes” - made possible by the incredible team - you won’t want to leave.

If speciality coffee is your thing - Rosetta is the place to visit. I tried the Kyoto Ice Coffee. A complete wild card but I enjoyed trying something new.

It's hard for a coffee shop to get everything right. From the food to the ambiance, it's really really hard (I'm failing at it right now, so I know first hand). Rosetta on Bree checks every box. - The space is beautiful, comfortable, and unique. - The coffee is spectacularly good. I still can't get over how unbelievably excellent and refined the coffee is. - The food is excellent, interesting, and delicious. The food alone would make this a worthwhile destination. - The staff is tremendously knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. - And lastly, they do all of the above every time... A true 5 star coffee shop...what a gem of a space. Personally, I can't think of a wonderful place to start your morning. It's one if not the best coffee shop I've been to.

Nice coffee ( filtered) Ethiopian or flat white/ cortado. Atmosphere and vibes were great. Staff were nice to change my coffee when I didn’t like it. But not the barista They sell their own beans. And breakfast was nice but need some work and adding more items or changing. A must go Cape Town visit especially for coffee lovers

Incredible coffee and atmosphere. The sweet treats looked great, but couldn't tempt myself into buying one. I had a Flat White and the taste, body and latte art was great! Very pleased with the service and experience from the manager and barista.
Colleen Mclintock
Stunning location, barista is very helpful. My only notes would be removing the signs on the tables that say you can only stay for 45 minutes; when I asked the waiter, he said not to worry, it's a covid artefact. It could be more apparent as a client, so dump them.

The best coffee in the Woodstock Exchange. Maybe even in the whole of Woodstock....
Felix Olschewski
Excellent: Coffe, staff, experience. Every. Single. Time. Hard to believe but these guys are amazing all the way through. For me this is by far the best coffee shop in Cape Town.
Warren Trask
Great coffee, great service, wonderful experience. Thank you!

Beautiful coffee, fantastic staff, and a chic but friendly vibe. I would be lost without you guys, especially in the mornings.

Premium coffee! I had two flat whites after each other at 9am this morning and I'm STILL feeling the awesomeness of it! Day made! Thanks for the 'awakening' :)

Disclaimer: !!Only come here if you Truly Love Coffee!!

Rosetta Roastery is not for the light-hearty casual coffee drinkers!! (I am saying this cause I am one of these people😅) If you are you will likely be disappointed and that you wasted R30 on a cup of coffee.

The coffee is very strong and modern, with different flavour notes that you do not usually find such as Jasmine and Stonefruit notes. Unfortunately, I'm not a Coffee Lover even though I enjoy the normal coffee here and there - I'm more of a Hug-In-A-Mug kinda coffee drinker🙈😅 If this is you as well then you will not enjoy this experience!

It's almost like drinking wine - it's an acquired taste and you will not appreciate the experience unless you really enjoy strong, somewhat-bitter coffee with other flavour notes.

However, I still had to give this place a 4-star rating cause of the exceptional, professional and kind service!!💪 They explained everything to me very well as a first time customer and it was very much appreciated!!

Rosetta is right around the corner from where I work. It is the best coffee in the city (well worth the few extra rand - trust me). The staff are always friendly. Thanks to Justin, who is one of the baristas there, who is very knowledgable, passionate about coffee and love what he does. Also, the ambience of the place is great, love the decor and vibe inside. Great place!

Excellent coffee, very professional and friendly staff. Worth paying a bit extra for a much better quality coffee compared to nearby cafes. Highly recommend.
Chris Rafael
Good strong coffee in a trendy dark and geometric setting. I had a flat white and the coffee was brewed perfectly. The microfoam quality was good but there were a few big bubbles in the mix. I really like the contrast of black with the warm wood tones.
Kirsty Ballard
Heard about this place through a friend and their latest in coffee innovation - the Espresso Tonic. It took me a while to get used to but now I love making them at home. Definitely worth a visit when you're next in Woodstock, CPT. ☕️

If you like strong, flavoursome coffee, Rosetta won't disappoint. When i worked with foodies for 6 months I visited a LOT of different cafes and roasteries all over Cape Town, and Rosetta was my favourite of all of them.

What a lovely evening. We got to attend a coffee event hosted by the awesome Jono and Rob who shared countless pieces of information that has made me more coffee savvy and keen to explore more of... The beans, the different types of roasts and more importantly the flavors each type of roast yields.

I must say their enthusiasm of coffee bubbles over and I look at coffee so differently now. We got to taste and smell 3 different variations and use the flavor chart to see which flavors we smelt.

This was such an informative session and I would highly recommend popping in for not only fantastic coffee but also the history and interesting facts on coffee ...

Great vibe, cool decor and just fun. Love the fact they sell different types of coffee maker... Aeropress, pour over etc. Beans are sold and the flavors do change every once in a while. Every so often they have a coffee facts evening ... Great job truly loved it and walking away with knowledge I didn't have before.

Really excited to pop back and taste stale coffee vs fresh coffee ;) see you again soon! Keep up the great work team....
Jessica
Coffee quality is insane, its some of the best coffee in CPT and the setting is so chic. I went with a book , sat in comfy silence and just blissed out.
MattJBlack3
While this is a nice enough place with great service and a nice atmosphere, my criticism of Rosetta would unfortunately have to be of the coffee. There are some lovely roasts on offer, but they are all served slightly above lukewarm, and about a 3/4 cup full. It's a coffee that leaves you feeling slightly decaffeinated..
Akira Wing
Amazing coffee in a super trendy setting. I got a latte and the coffee had a natural sweet and delicious flavour. It also wasn't smouldering hot.

I love the geometric light fittings and dark hip decor. Service was super friendly as well. Definitely pop in for a quick caffeine fix if you're in the area.

Very cool setup. I love the use of raw materials such as wood and exposed brick and concrete, such an industrial feel. Popped in for a flat white and sweet nibble. Coffee was slightly more muted than I expected, but nevertheless solved the craving. Great if you haven't packed in lunch or eaten breakfast. And positioned in the cool, Woodstock Exchange.
Marcus Christiansen
I was here a while ago. It's a great setting, not just for coffee, but also to get some work done. Their coffee however can be rated amongst one of the best in Cape Town. Definitely worth a visit.
Megan Kammies
What an awesome place...coffee to die for and a really cool atmosphere. Popped in there on my lunch break today and it was such a lovely break from the mundane of work
Danieljake
Without a doubt had the best coffee I've ever had in Cape Town at this roastery. Very artisanal and creative and the coolest part is that you get to choose your own beans (I had the 'Gayo'). Definitely a must-visit for any coffee aficionado.
Tessa Brown
Hands down some of the best and most unique coffee in Cape Town. Ollie and the boys are really good at what they do, and 100% passionate and ready to strike up a deep conversation about their roasts and methods of coffee genius. Try the cold brew on a hot day, or the pour over black!
Ravi Govender
Amazing coffee served by fantastic barista's who are passionate about what they do. Only regret I could only try two of the blends on offer. Next time...
Shae Leigh
If you're on the hunt for the perfect cup of coffee this is where you will find it. Wow. Smooth. Great latte art. Lovely guys to talk to and passionate about coffee. If you can handle more than one cup of coffee at a time, pull up a chair and stick around for a while.
Pia
We stopped here for a quick coffee after our walking tour and had a delicious coffee. We tried all three blends and they were all yummy. Nice and strong
Glen Loxton
Look, there's coffee, then there's artisan coffee and then there's this place. Sure, Origin will make you a blend smoother than your shameless transition into becoming a hipster food-snob. But this place will show you the true magic that lies hidden in coffee beans. Be warned though, when they run out of the roast that you've now fallen in love with there will be only despair, that's what limited availability means.
Michelle Glover
Hands down the best coffee in Cape Town. Sit down and relax in their newly renovated space with a chocolate torte and a coffee that's made with the utmost passion and dedication. Situated in the beautiful Woodstock exchange adds to its appeal.

Everyone likes coffee their own way, whether its an americano, esspresso or ricoffee and according to the guys at Rosetta, there is nothing wrong with that!

On our future of coffee lesson we learnt about coffee and it didn't feel like a lecture. It could of been the wine, but it was was probably the passion and enthusiasm shown by everyone at the roastery.

Loved my time at Rosetta, loved the coffee even more and learnt a lot.

a great place to for a cup of coffee whether you just want to grab a quick cup or if you are an enthusiast.

I definitely will be back!
Bronwyn Coltman
I came here for a coffee course the other night about the #FutureofCoffee and I was blown away! The guy who spoke to us (one of the owners) was so insightful and entertaining! There wasn't a single time where he told us exactly how we must drink our coffee, as most pretentious 'connoisseurs' do. He explained where coffee came from and from where the different styles of coffee originated. It was such a great experience to learn about how the different flavours and aromatics come about according to how the coffee is brewed. We then got to taste their coffee and identify the different flavour profiles. I'll definitely be back for a cup coffee soon!!
Shaun Roynon
If you are bored of the coffee at your local coffee shop, take some time out of your day to get to Rosetta.

A clean, neat and brilliant store layout sets the vibe for some of the best coffee you can drink in Cape Town.

Their service and commitment to service is unreal.

The range of different brew methods and quality if every cup of coffee means you will leave refreshed and satisfied. Never left disappointed after visiting Rosetta.
Dominique Andrea Vieira
I love Rosetta coffee! They've recently (sort of recently) expanded and now it's even better. Dark walls, and the most meticulous attention to detail just add to the whole experience. They really know their coffee, and are more than happy to make some suggestions if you're feeling adventurous! Such a gorgeous little spot to enjoy a delicious coffee and feel a little bit cool at the same time. Phillip Black you would love it!
Lulu Larche
Quite possibly the very best coffee in Cape Town - and by far the most beautifully branded: in terms of brand identity, packaging and the space itself. Consistently delicious coffee, prepared lovingly and with passion by friendly, knowledgable baristas and in a beautiful, multi-textured space... A great team, with a fantastic product and offering. I could not recommend it (or their Asian Gayo OCR) highly enough! Well worth the drive to Woodstock and for those lucky enough to work in the area, like me, a daily treat.
Tabassum Smiley Aleem
I love that you can see the roasting done live in action. The aromas literally pulled me into the store. I had a quick espresso which was perfect. Service was good. Coffee was super and i cant wait to be back. Love the woody interior.

This is a place that we spotted when Superette was closed for a private function. Also located in the Woodstock Exchange design hub, Rosetta Roastery does just that – roast their own beans – and I’ve got to say, it was the best coffee we had in Cape Town.

A deep, rich bean with lingering goodness. And what we call a piccolo latté, Rosetta calls a 1:2.

Absolutely magic.
Peter John Yuill
The renovation is awesome! Really really well done! The guys there really know what goes into making a great cup of coffee! Always have the highest quality beans. Ordered an american with Ethiopian beans, was delicious. Served at the perfect drinking temp too. Most places, you have to wait for your cup to cool unless you want to burn your face off and be left with a furry feeling tongue. On the downside, the cups used for serving are tiny and at over R20 a go, your coffee fix gets a bit expensive!
Phaedon Gourtsoyannis
Rosetta Roastery is one of the ultimate coffee destinations in Cape Town. It's an opportunity to learn about and taste world-class single origin coffee. While the flat whites are delicious, you'll be missing out if you don't at least try a pour-over!
Chloe Igo
The Rosetta Roastery is one of my favourite parts of the Woodstock Exchange. Every detail of the restaurant has been considered, from their signage to the wood engraved barstools. Their coffee is delicious, the staff are helpful and informed. It's quite expensive, but worth it.
Jonny Hayes
This is undeniably the best coffee roastery in the whole of Cape Town. The wooden design; the lights; the awesome guys who work there; and especially the coffee. When I had a pour over, Jono offered me an extra sample to compare.
A really solid bunch of guys who work there. My hat off to each one of them.
Ryan Mulders
Great spot in the trendy Woodstock exchange. I love the interior, lots of wood and you can see through to the roasting section. I had an Ethiopian coffee that was produced in a large glass apparatus that was rather impressive. The actual coffee was one of the best I have had.
Sean Lloyd
It's safe to say this is the best coffee that is served in Cape Town. I visited yesterday and the shop size has also expanded which is great. I just wish there were more Rosetta's around.
Nate Kettles
Incredibly coffee and wonderful service - one of my favourite coffee places in the Woodstock and Salt River area. My favourite was the cold brew on a hot day - so good!
Lauren De Villiers
The coffee aroma leads you into the urban interiors of this coffee roastery. The barristers enthusiastically inform you about the different coffee flavours and origins before letting you decide on which you will have the pleasure of tasting. They also suggest you get a different origin to the person/people you are with so that you are able to taste each others and compare. It's an awesome experience from when you walk in till you reluctantly walk out.
Jenny Sarah Coulson
I popped in at Rosetta for the first time yesterday, and I can't believe it's taken me this long. The newly expanded space is cosy and slick, with wood and black tile accents, and you can instantly tell from the epic coffee machines that this is an establishment that's serious about its brew. I had reached my caffeine limit for the day, so I ordered a decaf flat white to go - and it was perfect. Smooth, creamy, with none of the bitter aftertaste I usually get with decaf. They also stock Saszali shortbread (the best!) and next time I'm going to have to try a croissant. High five, Rosetta!
SimonThePieMan
Ok so this is the greatest coffee I have found so far in South Africa. They baristas are the best trained I've ever come across and the coffee is to die for. Quality and wow factor, a long with the vibe is 10 out of 10!!!! An absolute must visit when your in CPT.
Chris Helle
The coffee quality is excellent! Also the barista's expertise is on level with their coffee. You can select your coffee to be brewed from three different bean origins which is quite cool.
Lekha Amod
Rosetta is tucked away in the Woodstock Exchange. Here you will find people who are passionate and knowledgable about coffee. There is a small range of tasty snacks, but if you are serious about coffee, you have to visit. The coffees are single origin and very carefully sourced, The baristas are very happy to share their knowledge if prompted.
