It could have been that we were hungry and everything just tasted so good, but it was more then just satisfying your hunger. The gnocchi was delightful, the salads fresh and inviting. Mains were a delicate balance of flavor. A real treat that complimented the exquisite surroundings.
Staying at the Lanzerac means not much can persuade you to leave the room. The restaurant, however, did. Fine dining at its best - a range of options to include vegetarian, pescatarian and meaty dishes, all beautifully presented. It’s an elevated classic food - comfort food- experience, taken to the highest possible level.
Been here a while back for a wine tasting, which was very lovely - overlooking a very picturesque estate.
Feeling peckish, but not hungry, we then went to this very regal lounge setting at the entrance of the Governor's Hall. Ordered 2 starters, the scallops and the bobotie samoosas; and some tea. Those scallops though... soooo delish!
Haven't been back to do a full meal yet, but very much looking forward to it.
The name Governor's hall is befitting to this restaurant. It feels like a place were you can have a masquerade ball in fancy ball gowns. The furnishings are sophisticated and the venue itself has portraits all overThe staff is world class. People who are passionate about what they do. They made us feel like royalty. The food is gastronomic explosion, culinary excellence. I recommend a three course meal. But it feels like a 7 course meal because of the attentive process that is followed in serving and presenting the food. Dining here caters to all senses in a beautiful way. It truly is a well rounded dining experience. I have been here a couple of times and every single time, I fall in love again. Lanzerac wine estate on its own is a haven - beautiful, picturesque and scenery. Upon entering Governor's hall you ought to relax with a glass of wine or cup of tea at The Craven Lounge and just admire the antiques,
Lanzerac is utterly beautiful! We happily found this gorgeous estate by pure accident, but will be sure to follow this first visit with many more! The staff are delightful, knowledgeable and completely at ease with customers. We shared the oysters- delicious and fresh! And the milktart with poached pear dessert- not only beautifully presented but so wonderful! The taste experience was well rounded with a bottle of the wine farms own Sauvignon Blac- light, crisp and easy to drink. This restaurant deserves to be frequented and scores maximum points!
Great fine dining experience with friends. Staff was friendly and service attentive. Food served all you expect from a fine dining restaurant. Desert the highlight of the evening.
Had such an amazing dinner at the fine dining restaurant! Complete with smiles ands roaring fireplace. To read more about my amazing dinner here please visit MY BLOG (link in bio) Thank You
The atmosphere is something truly special, elegant, warm, romantic, intimate and extremely classy.
Food was great especially the desert.
Will certainly return for more.
Did a easter lunch here last year. Was fully booked and with good reason. Food was great and the dessert buffet was awesome. Great place for families and the service was good and friendly.
What a beautiful setting! The service is good and friendly. It was a set menu. The mushroom started was excellent and bursting with flavour. The salmon starter was well presented but the salmon lacked freshness. The oxtail main was well presented and the sauce complimented the dish. The meat did not fell off the bone as expected. The kingklip was tasty but some of the flavours was to subdued in the dish. The panacotta desert lacked taste and was disappointing. The orange chocolate torte was good. The macaroon did not compliment the dish.
I celebrated my birthday here with the high tea on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was of a good portion, and tasty, and they made the appropriate adjustments for those with dietary requirements without a hassle. The room was beautiful and bright, and there was an incredible piano player who added to the ambiance.
This is a restaurant with a rich history that it’s not running away from. Manor Kitchen is honestly ‘Rustic’…but with a healthy serving of Sophistication.
The flagship Lanzerac eatery seamlessly manages a delicious balance of sophistication and simplicity – from their Sunday lunch to the decadent Afternoon Tea, and meals such as breakfast and dinner.
Its breakfast is a humble brag born of excellent quality ingredients, adding trusty brunch & breakfast picks to the menu, and having a dependable team in the kitchen.
If you’re parched or pacing yourself, there’s a good drink to dive into! The estate’s own varietals are great for seasoned wine lovers, as well as those getting their first introductions.
I recently made the journey from Cape Town to Stellenbosch to try the seven-course dinner paired with Lanzerac’s award-winning wines at Manor Kitchen. It was a lovely experience and a wonderful value. The dishes were creative and inspired and paired nicely with the wines. The tuna tartare dish was one of the best bites I’ve experienced in my culinary life. My only constructive feedback, which I’ve shared with the establishment, is (1) for the bread course, the clay pot needs to either cooled longer before being served or come accompanied by some type of mitt for diners to hold it with while removing the bread. It was fingerprint melting off your hands HOT. (2) Some of the wines were too cold when served and did not develop their full flavor profile until the end of the respective dish. We appreciated the sommeliers’ openness to discuss this (she is fabulous!) (3) Lastly, children talking loudly, singing, and running around grabbing the backs of chairs in the mostly empty dining room like it was a playground was highly disruptive to the elevated experience. Neither the staff nor the parents visibly did anything to curtail the unruly behavior. For the time and money spent on this experience, an adult atmosphere would have been greatly appreciated. Overall, I recommend this experience.
Superb. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff friendly and competent. Atmosphere romantic, soft piano music. Fresh flowers.
The setting is beautiful. The trees and squirrels running on the lawn make it a peaceful and idyllic place to go for a great lunch staff and service is friendly and professional. The food and wine selection is diverse with something for everyone. Beautifully presented food that tastes so good. It is a bit expensive but it was worth every cent.
Absolutely everything about our experience was amazing! The food was extremely good and it didn’t take a long wait at all. The wine top level. The service was just outstanding and the atmosphere high class! Would love to return to this place one day.
Fantastic in every way , well worth a visit , several restaurants to suit your style , excellent staff , very welcoming, so picturesque and full of history.
Truly amazing place! Such a good vibe, everybody’s so lovely, happy to help and made our day. Brut methode classique was exactly what we dreamed of to chill in a beautiful garden before the sunset!
We had a great time there.
I cannot describe in words nor with adequate English the joy we've experienced here. The furniture and decor are relics with souls that are reminiscent of better days far gone and yet to come. The majestic wood interiors create a sense of warm wonder that stirs a feeling of home away from home and the sense of comfort and relaxation sets in. The wine was clearly a table favourite by the great Dionysus and well received and utterly enjoyed by us mere mortals. The chef wowed us with his dexterity and gifs for the art of making food, for a burger and a pork belly never tasted so good. The dessert was a show stopper as all conversations died away like the last burning logs on the hearth.
