Fine dining at its very best couple with a lovely ambience to match, the service comes always with a smile from the owner who runs the place. Staff has an amazing sense of humor . Well worth a visit , the food is outstanding too.
Lovely chilled ‘feel at home’ vibe, nice decor with good food and lovely staff, I recommend the duck or the steak tartare. Menu is short but good options and every meal has been good so far.
Been going to Erwin's since I was a little girl and the quality is and always has been excellent. The food is really made with love and care.
We love Erwins. Good hearty food perfect for winter. The owner is lovely and rally puts her heart and soul into the food and restaurant. Waiters are brilliant. Steak tartare is the best I've ever had
Awesome food and service. It may be frequented by an older clientele but we still thoroughly enjoy an evening at Erwins. Never been disappointed with a meal. Can recommend anything on the menu. Even the homemade bread is out of this world
The decor may have been updated and be more modern European but the food remains just as outstanding as always. Erwins is an institution of gastronomic delight and is always consistent. The decor is warm, the service friendly and the owner attentive. She clearly loves preparing food for her 'guests' and one always feels at home. It was refreshing to see a younger clientele being attracted to the restaurant. Never fails to please
Erwin's is an institution! Swiss and French classics, prepared with love and quality ingredients make this a truly unique Johannesburg restaurant.
On our last visit we enjoyed Zuericher Geschnetzeltes: silky smooth sauce which includes some wine, tender veal strips and mushrooms. It’s rich and comforting served with crispy roesti (grated and friend potato) to soak up the divine gravy.
My dinner companions opted for the prawns and cordon bleu. YUM.
The restaurant has recently undergone a facelift and is a bit more modern. Think bold, warm RED teamed with an elegant grey.
The service is mostly prompt and professional.
Erwin’s also does a Sunday buffet lunch, which I haven’t yet tried, but it’s been well recommended.
I could rabbit on and on about the food and service at Erwin’s but it’s time to experience it for yourself!

Erwin's is definitely one of the best restaurants in Parkmore. It is a very special little place that has been part of our family for the past 15 years! If you want a good home cooked meal with personalized service then this is the place for you.
It is situated in a small quiet center called Parkmore Mews, 11th Street. They have just repainted the inside of the restaurant to red and gray and put a few new paintings on the wall. It looks more contemporary but still has the old school charm.
The menu has around 40 items on and everything that we have ordered has been delicious and the portion sizes are decent. All the meals get served with delicious sides like red cabbage, carrots, roast potatoes, butternut and my personal favorite creamed spinach.
The lady that owns this place is so inspiring, she cooks all the meals and manages this restaurant herself for the past decade after her husband passed away. I wouldn't want it any other way because you can definitely taste the love in the food.
This place is our little gem that we can always count on for a lovely meal. It is around R350 per person if you have a starter, main and dessert.
My personal favorites are as follows:
Starters:
1. Deep fried camembert with cranberry sauce
2. Prawn Cocktail
3. Duck Liver Patte with fresh home-made bread ( I can eat an entire bread with butter, that is how delicious their bread is)
Main:
1. Scampi Thermidor
2. Geschnetzeltes Nach Zurcher art served with Rosti
3. Cheese Fondue or Raclette ( Bookings in advance is needed)
4. Cordon Bleu filled with swizz cheese, smoked beef and fried in a pan
Dessert:
1. Chocolate Mousse
2. Cheese Cake
They also serve a lovely Buffet Lunch on a Sunday.
Erwin's is one of those rare restaurants where everything on the menu is truly amazing. The restaurant has recently undergone a light facelift making it more contemporary but keeping its good old home cooked Swiss-German dishes complimented by a generous selection of vegetables. Don't miss the homemade bread for starters - it's legendary!
It has an old world charm. Still the original German lady running it. They do great fish.
A pity the kitchen never informed us that there was an ingredient missing from the one dish
Fantastic food. Genuine Swiss/ German cuisine on offer. Maybe a little quiet for some, but if you're party is big enough you can create your own atmosphere here. A different menu from the norm. Service was impeccable. We will definitely put this on our regular list of great restaurants.
Great atmosphere and fantastic cuisine! Swiss \ German menu; all dishes offer excellent quality and value for money. If you enjoy eating in fine dining style with table cloths, silver cutlery and relaxed service excellence you will not be disappointed.
As normal the ambiance and the food is out the top draw. We have been going there for the past 20 years and have never had a dud meal. Well done Erwins always a pleasure to be a customer.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Erwins yesterday. The tables are beautifully set with a crispy white tablecloth, . .....(My husband loves tablecloths on a table) ...a lovely centerpiece with fresh roses and beautiful cutlery with a cloth napkin.
The food was absolutely delicious, a tomato soup starter, at least 6 salads which you dish yourself, lamb on the spit with vegetables, and the most delicious desserts.....eats much as you like. The bread and butter pudding was to die for. Although the restaurant was full, we were able to have great conversation. A really wonderful overall experience.
Amazing. Honestly a gem of a establishment. The Crepes were out of this world!

Excellent food, relaxed ambiance. Do not attempt the Sunday lunch unless you have someone to roll you out the door. Staff range from ok to good, depending on the day.

Good old home style cooking. We all had a delicious. The service is efficient. All in all an eating place worth trying.
The best Swiss food to be had in South Africa. It's truly a hidden gem in the northern suburbs. Everything on the menu is exceptional. My absolute favs:
Starters: Chicken liver pate. Garlic snails or the asparagus.
Mains: Cordon Bleu. Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (stripes of veal in a creamy sauce with mushrooms). Potato roeschti( like a sort of Swiss hashbrown). Raclette. Cheese fondue.
A must-visit restaurant!
This is a unique restaurant, lovely ambiance, fantastic service and really great food. Don’t miss out on this one.
