We ordered the chicken korma and it came with rice along with a garlic naan. The food was well wrapped and surprisingly didn't spill. It was still warm when it arrived. It looked as though it wasn't much but turned out to be a ton of food. It was super creamy and decadent! I'd definitely order again. The only issue was that the chicken was tough
Outstanding curry (Korma and Makhnie Chicken) - perfect lunch on our first ‘chilly’ day! Good venue (well situated, easy access), great value👍🏻
Delicious chicken makhnie and dhal makhnie at Ghazal. The chicken makhnie has a slightly sweet taste to it and the dhal makhnie was very smooth, creamy and filling. We paired our mains with butter naan and naan topped with crushed cashews and coconut 😋
Food tastes great, brilliant spot for a romantic dinners. Not good spot for large groups service was slow (however in their defense you could see our waiter really did try to provide top service),
we ordered 2 starters that never arrived the mains where tasted fantastic. The wine we wanted was out of stock, and my menu was missing a page and waited well over 15 mins for our post dinner coffees.
Usually given this I would give a lower rating, except the food is really good and the tables around with the couples seemed to be very well catered to, so don’t think our experience was a normal reflection of the restaurant.
Ordered food couple of times while staying in Marriott in melrose arch and speed of delivery is awesome. Food sent was fresh, warm and tasted good although biryani wasn’t the traditional style. I believe restaurant should publicize Halal options more explicitly.
"Spice of Life" are the words Ghazal is known by and this is an apt description of what to expect when visiting their Melrose Arch store. In India, dining is always an occasion and family and food go hand in hand. This made Ghazal a great choice to celebrate my dad’s 65th dinner. He and I don’t get much time to spend together so this was the perfect opportunity for some father and son time.
On a rather dull and chilly Joburg night, entering this beautiful restaurant and being warmly welcomed by our waiter Masai was a great way to start the evening.
Seated at a table near the fire, we perused the menu and decided on a mixed platter for starters so we could sample a bit of everything on offer. Onion Badjia, Pakoda, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Risme Kebab, Shish Kebab and of course a Lamb Samoosa for good measure. A mini feast of flavours complemented by a delicious bottle of Chocolate Block red wine.
I must say I was in a very happy place and the evening had just started. Being lamb fans and with Masai's expert recommendation, we opted for the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Lamb Korma with a side of butter and garlic Naan.
Both dishes were so tasty we couldn't resist having a taste of each other's. Feeling more than satisfied with our delicious meal, we sipped a bit more wine and decided that a birthday celebration is never complete without dessert. Dad decided that the Chocolate Volcano was a must and it was true indulgence. A rich chocolate centered cake that was so very decadent. A great end to leave us feeling warm and fulfilled in every way.
It's clear to see the passion and heart in every moment of dining at Ghazal. Thank you for such a memorable experience. We'll definitely be back!

Ghazal definitely has the best curry in Johannesburg! We went last night and the service was very good and curries delicious! We shared the chicken jal frezi and lamb vindaloo with rice and butter naan!! The restaurant itself is nice and cosy and the decor is tasteful! Perfect dinner for a cold winters night!

I was recently invited to dine at Ghazal. Ghazal is a restaurant located in Melrose Arch serving North Indian cuisine. I’m a fan of Indian food so I was really looking forward to visiting. We arrived on Ghazal on a Saturday night. The restaurant has a sophisticated and elegant feel to it, definitely a much more upmarket restaurant when it comes to Indian food in South Africa. We were seated at a table adjacent to a gorgeous glass wine display and what a great wine selection Ghazal has. I started with a glass of Beyerskloof Pinotage – the perfect way to warm up on a cool autumn evening. This was followed by the mixed platter starter comprising onion pakoda, chicken tikka and a lamb samoosa. The chicken was perfectly cooked, still tender and juicy. Loved the flavours and spices of the lamb samoosa. For my main meal, I had the
Had a great evening. The restaurant itself is clean and cosy with the fire. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. The meals were delicious and presented beautifully. Overall a good experience
Ghazal on Peter Place is one of the restaurants I have been to many times, one that we almost take for granted because it’s always there, the food is always good and the experience is always good.We often order take aways, and tonight was the same, except that once we arrived home and started our meal,we realized something wasn’t quite right with the order. We called Ghazal to inform them of the issue and happily resolved our problem.Ghazal Bryanston does not do deliveries, nor are they on Uber Eats or Mr Delivery, notwithstanding that, their manager Stanley was willing to drive to our place and to deliver the replacement meal. These actions and attitude with which the manage handled the situation is truly exemplary.I am particularly grateful as I am pregnant and we were not inconvenienced in any manner.Thank you thank you, thank you!!We will happily continue to support your restaurant.
Was a lovely treat ! The staff made sure we were nice and warm close to the fireplace .
The chicken salad starter was great .
Portions were huge , my friend and I both had take away that fed us for the entire next day haha …
Peshwari naan was just a garlic naan though . With a tiny bit of nuts on it ,
Probably the best curry I've ever had. Great flavours, portions generous, service excellent and great value for money. A definite one to visiting you are nearby.
I'm not a fan of Indian food, but this is the best Indian food that I've had. They have a variety on their menu (including veg options) and most dishes can be made to your preference.
Ps. When you ask for non spicy for the kids, milder than mild... It will still be too spicy for kids, so order more naans!!
My family and I will be visiting many more times in the near future. Thank you!
Great job all around. Special call out to Mickey, the host and Lakhwinder Sidhu, the chef.
The veg iptions were enough, and everything tasted divine...
Sat outside and enjoyed the music in background and at a volume that we could talk and hear each at the table... the restrooms were also clean. The staff all friendly
Thank you Ghazal see you soon

Melrose Arch
We had a wonderful meal at Ghazals. Authentic Indian fare at its best. Do try the prawn vindaloo … the serving of prawns in the dish was generous. Also the lamb biryani … loads of tender lamb in the flavourful biryani.
The place was tastefully decorated …. Melrose Arch, after all. The menu was vast with a good choice for meat lovers or vegetarians and vegans.
Service was excellent.
The food and service were both excellent. We ordered samosas, paneer tikka and onion bhajias as starters and they all were very nicely cooked and delicious. For the main course, we had Chhole Masala and Paneer Masala with garlic naan and it was made spicy as requested. The Naans were nice and soft and we loved the overall ambiance and service. Even Chef Siddhu was kind enough to pay a visit to make sure everything was okay.
Loved the food. Went for Monday night dinner with a customer and the service and food were great. It was pretty empty but as I say it was a Monday night.
Food was excellent, the service was great and quick.
Restaurant was relatively empty, probably because of random (late) hour in the middle of the week.
Naan was a bit on the sweet side which was a bit different and unexpected but nice.
Great atmosphere and well located.
Awesome location. The curries are divine and the service is top-notch. We really enjoyed the afternoon dine-out
