The place to go to for delicious food and warm cosy atmosphere. They definitely know how to make the best burgers, steaks, vegetables, chips, salads and desserts. Especially the creme brulle.
Had the best time last night! Their food and drinks are top shelf. Our waiter was extremely friendly and loved the vibe.
Will definitely see us again soon!
Great restaurant. Their steaks are amazing; the ribs are good; the ambiance is also old-school-like a mining town from the 60s. Really a good experience!
This is a genuine watering hole...I love the atmosphere. The service is always great and the food has never disappointed. It is a great after work hang out place to unwind...it makes drinking good.
Our most favourite grill house. The signature steak, homemade bread and cheesecake are to die for. I have experienced the best service from your waitress, Nicole on two occasions and once been served by Ashley. Your staff are wonderful and your manager (I think he said his name was Cornay) is really top notch. No wonder Founders has been going for so long. Well done
Parking is abit of let down or perhaps I didn't see enough, especially since it's around a sharp curve.
Truly a hidden gem, that one passes by daily and never takes note.
So spacious with the bar on the other end, which also accommodates the smokers.
Loved every dish we ordered, grills were tender and prawns were succulent.
I found the dessert abit of let down, didn't live up to the same exp expectations as the main.

Cozy atmosphere and good food. Also a separate pub and outside area for a more casual event. Try the oxtail or lamb. Very good service from the long established staff.
Since I can remember this restaurant has been open, and for the first time we tried it out for my mother-in-laws birthday. What can I say...except AMAZING. My starter, phyllo pastry filled with Camembert cheese topped with cranberry sauce did not disappoint. Main Course: Oxtail - out of this world, really tasty. Service was outstanding, staff knows the menu inside-out. They will be seeing more of us in the future.
Lovely restaurant for a celebration or just a casual evening out. Great service. Wonderful fresh food. Always a wonderful experience at good value for money.
The original Founders Grill and so glad to see its surviving the onslaught of the big shopping malls.
Food is seriously good , in spite of being pub fare so dont misjudge the exterior as being a redneck dive out in the sticks.
I literally had to stop myself licking plate clean -had the chicken liver starters (dee-lish!) ,fillet steak mains (superb!) and ended up ordering phyllo pastry desert (exquisite!) -quite literally rolled out of there.there wasnt one bad dish in our party of 4 -everyone thoroughly enjoyed their respective meals
The cocktails were delicious. Unfortunately we're vegetarian and this is a Grill house establishment, so the vegetarian fare left something to be desired... I will definitely be back for cocktails
Once again we found ourselves at Founders. A place we know will never disappoint and keeps their standard consistent. Firstly the rolls are always delicious. We went straight to mains, I had the mini sole and prawn combo which I thoroughly enjoyed. I had a taste of the spare ribs, "out of this world" barely describes them. One of the parties at the table had a grilled Kingklip and pronounced it to be very good. The other had a steak whicn was apparently a bit tough but was rectified immediately , the service was absolutely fantastic. All in all , they never disappoint and I highly recommend them.
Absolutely divine! Great food in an even greater restaurant! Friendly staff and a warm atmosphere make you feel very comfortable very fast. Only downside is the parking location, getting back onto the busy road that runs alongside the restaurant can be a bit challenging at times
One of the best restaurants in all of Johannesburg, offering the best in food. It is just sad that they will be closing on the 31st of December.

Exceptional place with great food. Service was great and homie feeling. Can recommend the Tomahawk steak, but be sure to book in advance. ;-)
I had no clue this place existed but I am glad I found it. Probably one of the best steaks I've ever had.
Was fantastic atmosphere, staff was impeccable service, food was fantastic. Only suggestion would had liked a cavery where leg of lamb and roasted meat was cut individually. Was a 5 star Xmas lunch. Well done to all at Founder. You are going to be missed.
An old classic, used to frequent during the late 90s / early 2000s. Was happy to see they are still operating & booked for our 14th Anniversary to take a trip down memory lane...
Excellent steakhouse with some traditional home cooking like just as I remember, excellent steak & lamb. Service was fast & friendly. Ambience was very unique & old school South African.
Good craft selection on tap, however due to Covid stock constraints, Bar area nice, however would recommend the restaurant area for a more romantic / relaxed ambiance esp by the fire place.
Price wasn't cheap but felt the food & evening was worth every Rand spent.
