Review Old Mill Lodge Restaurant - Oudtshoorn

Arrived short-notice. Very friendly receipt and hosts. Overnight chalet spotless, quiet, and private. Enjoyed a great dinner. Overall very good value for money. Can fully recommend.

This place is absolutely fantastic for the entire family. The house was really clean, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We immediately felt so at home. The animals kept the kids entertained especially Jessie, their resident dog. The place is not far from the cango caves and not far from the town. I highly recommend this place, especially for a family with small kids.

Husband and I arrived last night, just to learn that we were upgraded to the honeymoon tented suite on the hill!.. What a pleasant surprise being married for 36 years!.. It was beyond beautiful, luxury bedroom and bathroom, complete with chandelier, and outdoor shower. We felt so spoilt.. Dinner was delicious, nothing to fault. We will be back for sure, perhaps with the grandbabies this time!.. Thank you so much, this is indeed a special place.

These guys attention to detail is amazing. I’ve been all around South Africa for 2 weeks and this was the best stay I’ve had. Quiet place, surrounded by nature, with very friendly staff and great food. We had heated mattresses and small flowers waiting for us in our bedrooms. Absolutely recommend it!

It was, so much more than we expected. Breath taking views, waking up to seeing buck graze and farm animals for the children to enjoy. 2 Lovely pool areas! Our self catering unit was beautiful, clean and very well organized. Friendly staff. I can highly recommend anyone of any age to visit Old Mill!

I absolutely love this establishment!!! Loving the clamping up in the mountains!! The words tranquil and peaceful are spot on!! The most friendlies and helpful staff are a bonus point who genuinely care for their guests. Just imagine that you are able to have a hot bubble bath with a view of the mountain top while your doors are open in this day and age in 2020!! You're safe and secure and your only concern are the bugs and of course the one and only loyal bug Mr Mosquito!!! Come prepared with mosquito spray😁😁😁

We stayed in the Honeymoon cabin, overlooking the small dam. Lovely experience. Friendly reception, very comfortable lodgings. Pay extra for a very worthwhile buffet breakfast. We did it twice. Would not recommend the cabin for small children. Not safe enough. But there are enough other options and children are really catered for with a play park, animals and huge lawns to play on. We couldn't make use of the restaurant but it looked great!

I give it 4.8 out of 5. It was really nice staying there. The staff members were nice and welcoming. The rooms were clean and very neat. The bedding was neat and each bed had electric blanket. Each room had a heater. Almost everything you need it's there.

The accomodation was awesome and very comfortable. The tented room was a massive treat for the kids and the outdoor shower was the cherry on the top. The other accomodation was equally comfortable. The receptionist George seemed to be unwelcoming and irritated that we arrived an hour earlier. But I did try and indicate that we knew we were early and had planned to have lunch at the restaurant first and then book in. The breakfast was okay, but seemed to be strictly overseen by the Manageress. A bit overbearing and slightly intimidating, I am not sure why she has to be marshaling everyone like troops. The food was great in the restaurant and the wait staff and cleaners were very pleasant. Will definitely stay here again and its ideally situated between Oudtshoorn and the Caves.

What a lovely place to stay at. Very welcoming, and accomodating. The family cabin that we stayed in was well set up, and comfortable. We were very happy with the facilities. The restaurant was excellent. The options there were good, and all of our meals were perfectly prepared. The nice thing about the location, is that it is close to the Cango Caves, while not being to far outside of town.

The staff was friendly, pool was wonderful and the tented accommodation amazing. We woke up with reindeer right at our tent and my toddler loved it! Cooling down in the pool was such a treat & just what we needed after a long day on the road

Absolutely magical oasis and the perfect stopover after exploring the Cango Caves! The service was incredible, food delicious and our room comfortable and neat. Totally above and beyond our expectations! Great getaway perfect for families. Thank you for accommodating us at the last minute L&A❤️

Very nice place indeed, cottage we stayed in very classy 👌, very nice outside scenary as well as greenery. However it's the best place to be if u Wana be cut off from world as signal is very bad their as the resort is in a mountain but didn't mind that.

Loved this place. The staff were friendly and helped with everything. They recommend we book a table for dinner and the views were worth it. The room was really nice. They had various animals on property that you could interact with. Feeding the bunnies was great

Great experience! The lodge is beautiful within the mountains and river. Ostriches on site. Clean and spacious rooms with lovely, friendly and efficient staff. Well managed and maintained. Restaurant has good food nice playground

Very nice for the family with young kids or just people who want to get away from the city life. Bass fishing is available but you have to work for your fish. Nice swimming pools, lawns and bunny pen that the kids love. Close to Cango caves and other tourist attractions.

Old Mill lodge and restaurant is conveniently located and lots to do for children. It is not truly dog friendly as the dogs are not allowed to accompany you on the walks around the farm. Our dogs were ALWAYS on leashes around the farm but we were told we could not walk the dogs due to the wild animals on the farm and poison. They kindly accommodated us with our dogs on the deck of the restaurant which made family meals possible. The food was excellent in the restaurant but the service at times were poor. There was a resident dog Spikkels who was left unsupervised and constantly tried to mount our bitch during meal times which was challenging as she was on a leash and he was not. The zip line in the playground is very fast please don’t let your children use it without an adult to catch them at the end and there is a wagon with sharp nails sticking out of it. The bunny farm was the biggest attraction for our twin girls and hours were spent there cuddling bunnies. There is a canoe in a small dam that also excited my daughters.

This was our 2nd visit and once again enjoyed our special treat. The hosts/owners are exceptionally hospitable and helpful, During breakfast time we were given some most useful information about our intended route for that day. Breakfast was, as always, sumptuous. We had a delightfully-situated, well-appointed room overlooking the dam and thotoughly enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were so pleasantly surprised by this place.. Our accommodation was spacious and so clean, new and well equipped. Hospitality and service amazing. The grounds are beautiful and lovely for kids. Best value for money accomodation ever.
