I had lunch at Cappello in my way back from Johannesburg airport. Friendly team and clean place with tasty burger and chicken shnizel. French fricr with paprika where amazing. Make sure to try it
I've never really been a fan of airport restaurants, the food quality is usually substandard and the prices hyperinflated. But eating at Cappello was a bit of a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly, and the manager came to ask how we were doing twice.
I ordered an omelette which was tasty and filling too. One of our party members informed the waitress that he doesn't eat mushrooms, and she substituted his mushrooms for avo which I thought was nice.
As far as airport food goes, Cappello is definitely a good choice
For some reason I love dining at an airport. Ive eaten here on 2 seperate occasions. The pasta's are really good but the jalapeno steak is hands down a winner here for me. I managed to eat the whole thing without any help from hubby. He had his own steak, with eggs, baked beans, mushrooms and slices of toast. It was dinner but he loves a hearty breakfast meal at any odd hour. Both our choices were excellent. I had a sex on the beach mocktail to wash down the spicy chilli tucked into my perfectly prepared steak. It was soo refreshing and pretty to look at. Overall excellent, including the service. Will be back again without a doubt.
A typical transit type restaurant with a better than average ambiance to get that quick bite and coffee craving before you jet off to your destination. The service is quick and efficient which is needed given short waiting periods before a flight or check in.
Decor and ambiance is quite welcoming with an earthy contemporary design making it a better choice of restaurants to get that quick craving. Menu selection is good however prices are high for even the most simplest of dishes or meal however it is located at the international part of the airport which would be expected.
Went for the open ciabatta sandwich with halloumi and aubergines which was really average and lacked any basic flavours. The ciabatta was non existent but rather a brown toasted roll which was rather disappointing. The Americano though was a really great cup of strong coffee which was a nice kick start to the morning.
Have tried other options on the menu previously and it was much better tasting which still gives me hope of returning to this restaurant though there's not many other options at the Airport before check in.
Although the reviews for Cappello reflect an average experience, we had a good time here - nothing much to complain about. The atmopshere is nice, seats are cozy and the menu is quite expansive.
Fiancé and I had a cappucino each, then a bolognese pasta for myself and a chicken schnitzel for him. The bolognese was tasty enough, a bit scant on the meat but isn't pasta always like that? The chicken schnitzel porrions were also a bit small but at least cooked well, served nicely and definitely not lacking in taste.
All in all a nice meal, service was fast enough and food was good. The price was a bit steep but on par for a restaurant meal in an airport. Wouldn't mind going back and trying some of the other bites.
18.05.2016 Quick stop for a bite to eat and drink before my friend flew off. The staff were efficient and on the ball and the food was brought to us in record timing. Yes we ordered something simple, toasted spinach feta and olives. It was tasty and loved the chips. To drink I had the pomegranate and cranberry soda. A little sweet but it was good enough.
I have noticed that quite a few restaurants at the airport have closed down and I think they might all be Famous Brand franchises (Mugg and Bean, The Keg, Fournos) and I've heard that the new restaurants in place of those are not that great. We were dropping off family at the airport and decided to have a quick breakfast. My sister mentioned Cappello's for was good. I ordered the French Breakfast (Crossiant with scrambled eggs and salmon). The croissant was delicious and scrambled eggs were fluffy and creamy. We also ordered a triple chocolate cake to share. The cake looked better than it tasted. Our waitress was extremely slow. Not sure if she was a trainee. She kept going back and forth to bring things to the table. We also had to ask her multiple times to get things.
Had a quick cup of coffee here recently before my sisters flight. The seating is actually pretty nice for an airport, the service was really good and the manager friendly.
Had a cappuccino and which was good. My sister had a chai latté which she felt was quite average, especially given the price. Their warm drinks are definitely a bit on the steep side.
Overall, great spot for a quick airport meal or drinks with friendly staff and a warm feel.
A quick trip to the airport to say goodbye to my dad left us snacking at Capello ☺
Death by chocolate cake, mocachino and an amaretto freezo were enjoyed by the three of us 👌
We picked Capello to have a quick bite and coffee before seeing a family member off on holiday. Capello is not usually my first choice, but the Mugg and Bean is closed (renovations?). Hubby and I both had tramezzinis and coffee. The food was really good and the portion size an improvement on a previous visit. The chips were the best I have had in a long time. Unfortunately the service is just too slow. It just takes too long to find your waiter to place any orders or even get your bill. The restaurant really didn't appear to have a shortage of wait staff.
Menu is limiting. Ended up ordering waffles and water. Service can be improved.
Food was lovely and perfectly creamy (ordered the creamy chicken and mushroom pasta). Service was great in even the busiest time. The muffin was dry though.

The staff are so wonderful and kind.
We had a big family lunch as part of the family were immigrating. We needed quick options that would be good no matter the dietary restrictions. They put countless tables and chairs next to each other for all of us to sit. Made sure the children had their food first. Their chocolate croissant was really good.
Note that their soda bottles are glass with no lids so you need to drink it all at the restaurant.
Their service was fast as we didn't have a lot of time.
Always happy with the food and service at Cappelo. My family meet there whenever someone is flying out, or arriving and we’re never disappointed.
Yummy food. Delicious coffee. Service was a bit slow, but I guess it was really busy. Some of the plates/cup were chipped. Overall a pleasant experience. Staff worked hard to accommodate our requests.
If you are at O.R. Tambo and need something to eat, be sure to visit Capello!
The best place to eat at before you catch a flight or if you saying goodbye to someone it has such homey meals and the waiters take care of your every need
Good location in OR Thambo. Friendly staff and excellent service.
They burger are amazing and filling really enjoy the food and have great customer care
My husband and I enjoyed our breakfast at Cappello when we arrived to the airport. We had skipped our plane meals and were ready to eat! Our meal was tasty, simple, and the service was great. The coffee was good, too! We didn’t have issues with the timing of when we were served. But we arrived from an early flight when stores were just opening.
