Review Hooters Emperors Palace - Kempton Park

Scott Kerrison
Orange Pride sangria, boneless wings with BBQ sauce, followed by Malva pudding with ice cream. All went down extremely nicely. Bit of a shame to have to pay to enter the casino property, but more disappointing was the lack of smiles or sense of enthusiasm from the staff - quite a difference from most of the Hooters restaurants I've experienced in the US.

I came here with my wife on a Saturday evening. The place was packed but luckily we didn't wait long to get in and get seated. First thing I noticed was there was a lot of customers with their family and kids/babies, and the music was very loud. Never thought Hooters would be a family-friendly restaurant but ok, cool. Anyways, we ordered a variety of food to try: original wings, shrimp, nachos, and chicken burger with fries. My recommendation would be wings and chicken burger. Our waitress was super friendly and served our food and drinks at a timely manner. Overall, great experience. Would come here again to watch a game or two.

Has been here a couple of times, the ambience is great to chill out and unwind, good food and drinks, excellent customer service, special thanks to "Nikita" for the best service I have ever had at this place. 3 cheers to the manager Young for keeping up pace.

Really a very welcoming place to eat at, waitresses are super friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the food, their curly fries are actually curly. Chicken wings are amazing, if you enjoy chicken wings you need to try theirs. Prices are decent, not too expensive and the wait time for food is about 15 - 20 mins. It can get quite busy in the evening so it helps to get there early.

Love the food and drinks here. A great vibe on weekends. Can get very busy and tables fill up fast. So book in advance... Or wait your turn... Drinks always cold. The wings are my favorite. Definitely check it out if in the area. Waitresses are well mannered and always friendly.

Food was great. Waiter seemed a little slow to return for cleaning up plates, and getting the bill, but otherwise a great experience. Rowdy bathroom at the time I chose to enter, but hey that happens with any bar. Couldn't complain really about anything to be honest.
amin
Very nice place for hangout. You can have everything here. Food is very nice. Service is ok. You can't expect fast service here as this place is always busy at evening. I don't know about the day time but evenings are always busy.. staff are very helpful and very pretty. There are some tables available for the one who wants to smoke while having their drink or food.

Bottomless Wings special on a Wednesday for only R140!! Amazing flavour amazing deal!! Definitely family friendly (no playground but they have colouring in papers) they even offered a baby chair😻😻😻😻 Great service and cold drinks!! They have a big daddy 1L beer and even a Beer tower that is 3 liters!! Definitely a great place and a must visit. Also very budget friendly

Portions were a bit small, waiter confused the happy hour times and we had to pay full price for our cocktails, other than that the visit was good. Definitely recommend the curly fries.

Thank you Chante for fantastic service. Chante greeted us with a smile on her face and had a smile every time she came to the table. She was super attentive, best waitress I've ever been served by. Food was great, really tasty.
Stephan Buys
As Hooters go the staff and food was of high standard. The venue overall was clean. We went on a Wednesday for unlimited chicken wings. The wings was amazing. We did not get the full Hooters experience as it was a bit nippy. Overall a great experience.

Feels like being in a mini Las Vegas (Cesar's Palace). Food is a authentic American junk food. Tested it, really like in the US. Atmosphere is good, (not too many people though). Free airport shuttle service! Luxury Hotel bar is fantastic, terrace is second to none. Recommend!

Very delicious food! The wings are just the best. The staff is very friendly and they have fun during their work. Nice environment to eat at. Definitely recommend a visit!
Theo Strydom
Good service, delicious wings and curley fries as always.
Corné Jackson
Always nice and busy. Great friends and family vibe. Music maybe a little loud at times. Understandably the food orders takes a bit of time, when this place is packed, but always tasty.

Our waitress was super amazing and that 3ltr jug is everything. Loved every bit of it. Had already eaten so didn't really get to try out the food. Next time will go on an empty stomach
Sabre Redelinghuys
Hooters is a very popular place, its pretty much always packed, especially on Wednesday when they have a special on. Service can also be slow due to that. The food is always great 👍

Best service received from the most gorgeous woman in the world... Demi you are 1 of a kind....You make Hooters look good. Well done to the one person make it worth my while to enjoy a meal and drink at this good place. Demi for Manager..
Christopher Steyn
Had to sit in the blazing sun because the awning didn't work. Had to wait for the kids milkshakes long after the adults received their drinks. I had to ask twice for crayons to be brought to the table. No cutlery was brought to the table. Had to ask. Didn't have Lots-of-tots! Didn't have BBQ sauce basting for chicken. The food that we ordered was good though. Still like the place. Hooters just needs to sort out the small issues. 😉

By far the best service i have had from any bar lady. A smile best too none melting the experience in to one which has been awsome. Thank you Nicole for being awsome I will not attend any Hooters if you are not there

The first time i to took my family to this branch. I think the waitress name was Chantelle. She was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. The food was awesome and the service was above 10. The waitress is definitely a jewel to your branch.

How can the american franchise holder allow this service. Warm beer, luke warm service and a waste of time and money. Although looking at the ratings these guys get they do not really care. Will give it a mis in future.

After numerous visits with exceptionally poor service we always tend to go back as we enjoy the food. Tonight we visited again and wow were we suprised. We received the best service in a restaurant in a very long time. Thank you Angelique. We had an awesome time and even our little one enjoyed the outing and the attention from all the waitresses. We truly hope to see you upon out next visit. Well done Hooters.
Thato Rampai IamnotyourEx
The food is actually sub par, lacks taste and the waitron literally brought a plate of food to my table then proceeded to pull out a strand of hair from my curly fries as if i didnt notice it.
Joseph Narun
Nice atmosphere but waitress was a bit confused by our orders and kept getting it wrong
Ben Boshoff
Great service, waiter was very friendly! Awesome wings! Definitely a must if you haven't been ... ☆☆☆

Had an awesome nite last night and and was kept well fed and never thirsty thanks to our 2 amazing gorgeous waitresses Jade and Caitlin, I know we difficult but you girls were great
Kimberley Louise van Zyl
Last night we celebrated my dad’s 50th birthday at hooters. It was the most wonderful night we’ve ever had at a restaurant! The wings were divine, as always but what made the whole evening even better was the service that we received from Nomsa! She went out of her way to decorate the tables for us, she knew exactly what we wanted and when we wanted it and she was never too far from our table! Thank you so much Nomsa! You made the night even better!
Theresa Nicholas
We had good service. Chicken wings were awesome, beers weren't very cold but our waitress brought us an ice bucket to keep them cold. Never really had any issues here. And we enjoy the Big Daddys!!!
Brett Magill
R69 bucks for ten boneless chicken pieces that are the sizes of R2 coins. Wow, maybe not next time. Tasted good, but that's a lot for what amounts to half a starter.
Cheesy
Boneless chicken wings.... amazing!! Curly fries and the tatertots. The food is great. Service could be better. A few really nice girls. But some are a bit rude. Manager there is awesome
Bonolo Eleanor Ngake
Nothing special about this place. The wings are okay, i had the philly cheesesteak and the one I make at home taste better. Boring American vibe. I couldn't wait to leave the place.
Andre Breytenbach
Friendly service and actually nice fibe on outside deck. No fine dining but affordable food and 1L beers. Parking plenty and safe to be. Worth a visit if at casino .
Meagan
Chicken wings never disappoint, the medium is just a good enough spice to it to be highly enjoyable. Hubby always enjoys the beer on tap. I had the shrimp tacos which were supposed to be “generously” filled according to the menu but were a bit lacking. Will be back for the wings
Brad Taylor
Great wings. Great vibe. Inexperienced waitress.

To start with the decor. It has a saloon, sports bar feel.
The ambiance is lively, and viby.

The boneless chicken wings are to die for. I hate the Daytona basting. Delicious!

The only pit was our waitress Angie. She was friendly however inexperienced and impersonal. She brought our drinks and never opened my beer cap. I had to find a waitress to then open it for me. She also floated a lot and kept asking if we wanted another round.....while our drinks were still half full. And it took time for her to clear our table.
However one of her colleagues did appologize and explain that she is new.

Overall a decent experience. And I will return for the food. And hopefully for a better trained waitress next time.
Relebohile Rammoane
The service here is really bad. I was not attended when I got there. I had to walk all the way to the bar area to order drinks for my friend and I. When it was time to leave my waiter wasnt there to give us our as a result we walked all the way to the door to pay there instead.
Erica Lesna
Hooters is a cool sports bar with generally tasty fast food. The curly fries are amazing! And the wings are so good too. However, the service is slow and whilst the food was good... the burgers that were specified to be 'well done' were undercooked and had to be sent back. They did remake the burgers which were good but the manager only came to the table to apologize once the bill had been paid and didn't act promptly to our complaint.
Floris Grobler
Food is average, service is very average. If you have any clue of a good burger you would notice this one is well below average. Wings are good though. Other than that don't get yo panties wet cause this place is suuuuper over rated!! #managerIsADoucheBag

Hooters its great 5*.
I love the food, its super fast and i love a lot buffalo prawns!
I enjoy that 1,5L beer :D
Service is super 5*, the girls is so simpatic always with big smile :)

First time going to Hooters and I was very impressed. The food was amazing, service was good and there is a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try some of the other food options.

Went weekly to restaurant. Onion Rings were unbelievable as well as Daytona Chicken wings, both crispy and flavourful. Then changed recipe for onion rings, batter so thick and saturated in oil. Daytona wings were much hotter than before. Raised with waitress. It seemed noted and for few weeks was back to old recipe. Unfortunately, has reverted to oily mess, we were told had new chef. Eaten at a few Hooters while travelling but this Hooters menu not up to standard.
Hlayisani Sambo
Some of the best wings in town. Ideal for drinks with friends after a long day at work. It's quite a chilled environment and very economical. Arrive early or book a table as the place fills up quickly, particularly on Fridays.
Jenny Louw
For me, this hooters is the better one in the Joburg area. Service here, though understandably slow, is good.

Their cocktails are great, especially the sex on the beach and they're also reasonably priced. I love their curly fries, nachos and onion rings. Their nachos used to be my favourite but unfortunately the quality and portion size of both the curly fries and nachos have deteriorated over the years throughout all of the Hooters outlets. They're still good but just not amazing anymore.

The food that I've had at hooters are all slightly overpriced especially considering the portion sizes have shrunk considerably. That being said, I've never really left unhappy.
Sarah Laubscher
I have been to Hooters in US and this one at Emperors does not deserve to be called Hooters. With only about 20 patrons, the service was slow, the tables were greasy, and the food bland and almost tasteless. The waitresses seem to think they are just ornaments to attact customers. Never again.
Mo
What a crock of sh1t. Unbelievably poor and arrogant service. What is it with your ladies???!!! Because they're supposed to be "hot" they're entitled to sh1tty attitude??? I will not put my foot in your shop ever again. Four visits - 3 times disappointed in services, and 4th time total strike out. A queue by the front door with a LARGE sign "PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED" with LOADS of open tables and not a host in sight to talk to or guide the queue. Then when I approach your waitress I get some cocky remark about why there is no-one. Now you can take your cheeky waitresses and your sh1tty attitude and cram right up your backsides. I would rather spend money at Steers before I even consider THIS Hooters. Screw you!
Samantha Bekker
Every time we go here we are just more and more disappointed. In the beginning it was really great and food was good, however progressively things have just gone downhill, most of the food tastes the same now. It feels like no thought or care goes into what comes out the kitchen these days. The Chicken strips are dry and lack flavor. The only consistent thing are the beers, which they sever and don't make. The tables and menu's are often sticky and the service is always incredibly slow even when they are not busy.

If you want to go to a Hooters where you get a good relaxing experience, try going there on a Sunday during noon. Service was absolutely top class (Notwithstanding the eye candy ladies or their beautiful looks). The food did take a bit long, was a bit pricey and average but when its quiet, at least you can enjoy sports while having a bite.
Justin Render
We popped into Hooters before going to see a show at Emperor's Palace expecting a quick beer and some of the friendly service that is meant to be the trademark of Hooters staff. Our experience, however, was quite the opposite. We were met at the door by a sign that read "Please wait to be seated", which we duly did. After a minute or two of waiting, a young lady who could only be described as scowling and entirely unwelcoming greeted us (barely). We asked for a seat at the bar and were simply told that it was too full, without so much as even a faked smile. Eventually, we negotiated our way to a table in the main restaurant area with the "Guardian of the Gates" who sullenly and very grudgingly led us to our table. Apparently the kitchen had been flooded and the staff were unable to provide some of the items on the menu, which is fine, but other than that, I feel that our entire experience was ruined by the extremely unfriendly and unhelpful "Maitre D", who made us feel like she was doing us a massive favour just by letting us in.
Daniel Kritzinger
The service seems okay. My problem is the dirty floors. One of the waitresses dropped a plate of food in the middle of the walk way. 20 minutes later (with everybody stepping over it - other waitresses included) the food remains. Reminds me of a fish and chip shop in Lagos.
Carien Jakovljevic
Meh. Rather concerned about the fact that my ribs and wings tasted exactly the same - blind folded I would not be able to say which was which. My husband had a Western BBQ burger, the patty barely covered half the bun. Service terribly slow, food took long. Drinks took long. Bill took long. The food was just-just not bad enough to complain and insist on not paying. The menu was so grubby that I handled it with a serviette. Just a really meh experience overall, definitely no chance of going back.
Marko Jakovljevic
Long queues, terrible service and mediocre food is what you'll expect if you go to Hooters in the casino. We ordered the Western BBQ Burger which was dry and the patty was half the size of the bun. The wings and ribs taste the same (basically just the taste of the sauces)
Would recommend only coming here if you're meeting friends for drinks

Awesome atmosphere. Cool place to chill and drink. Food awesome. Awesome vibes when it's someone birthday they make you do funny things. Good service. Keeps the place alive with the ladies.

Went there after a show. Service slow but it was very late. Table was dirty. And the previous customer's bill was on our table. Cocktails were amazing and affordable

We wanted to take people to Hooters, and their first reaction was that Hooters is a strip club. For anyone who is also under this misconception, Hooters is just like an ordinary steak house, except that the waitresses are all wearing short and tight uniforms. They are only serving the food, and not there to chat you up or flirt or anything like that. So Hooters can be considered a family restaurant. Hopefully the misconception of Hooters is clear, so let's move on to the food.

Hooters serves a very nice variety of food: burgers, ribs, wings ets. They do not particularly cater for vegetarians. The price that you pay is real value for money, and you can easily get away with R200 for 2 main meals (without drinks).

Service: The service is better in the evenings when the restaurant when the waitresses are around all the time. During the day, service can be a bit slack and you have to look for your waitress. Food is overall very very fast, you will hardly wait long.

What not to miss:
*Their 1 liter beer, served in a huge mug and is the ideal drink to take you through a rugby game.
*Curly fries, Hooters is famous for this. Now their curly fries is not simply fries that are shaped strangely, is tastes delicious and is a must. Comes with a spicy salt.
*Ribs, awesome. It is very tasty, better than Spur ribs. They have a very nice basting sauce.
*Chicken wings, where you can choose between about 8 different sauces to dip your wings in.
*Boneless chicken wings, basically chicken breast chunks. Imagne KFC dunked wings, but without the overpowering vinegar taste. It also comes with a sauce, and you do not want to miss this. However, it is not served with chips.

At this restaurant, you will enjoy your food, in comfort, with anyone, and pay for what you get. Make sure you do not miss this restaurant.

I dont dine at hooters often, but every time I do, it seems to get exceedingly worse. The service is becoming terrible, as if the manager of this restaurant only hires waitresses just because they look good in short pants and disregards experience completely.
It is now the 3rd time I have been treated with rudeness by waitresses at this place, including a note on my bill to "please dont come back" from the waitress, after we spent R3500 on a party. This was after complaining about her lack of service to our table.
More recently my waitress was busy cleaning up around us and insisted on taking the condiment stand with serviettes because she wanted to clean up and go home. This was while we were still eating?

Also noted is the food quality has deteriorated over the last couple years. My favorite used to be the boneless wings with the daytona sauce and ranch dressing, besides be regularly overcooked and dry, the daytona and ranch sauces have changed in flavor, ranch tastes more like mayo now?
Vera The Wine Snob
First time at hooters. Was greeting by a pretty girl in hot pants just like the American stores. Our waitress was okay, not too friendly it was like she was tired. Their wings menu is quite long so I asked for recommendations. Got the boneless 20pc with barbecue sauce. It was not the most tasty wings but it was adequate for the occasion. After we asked for the bill, took her quite some time to bring it. Not sure if I'd recommend this particular hooters to anyone but I think I'll try a different one before fully judging the brand.
Maxine
Our first visit to Hooters was a bitter sweet one. Our food was good but our drink orders always took forever, at a stage we went to the bar ourselves to place an order. Our waiter was useless and had a terrible attitude. We asked 4 times for another portion of all - you - can - eat wings which are still yet to arrive. The manager on the other hand is great and quick to help with any problems. As a choice to celebrate my sisters birthday we left with a bitter taste in our mouth.
Micaela Lo Russo
We felt like wings and after trying a few places, hooters is hands down still the best place for wings(in my opinion), and they even come boneless, what's not to like!

Since it was a Sunday afternoon we didn't have to wait for a table, service is on the slow side, be prepared to wait for your drinks and food even when they not busy.

We shared 20 piece boneless wings with curly fries, the wings were delicious, The fries were not the greatest, they were too crunchy and oily.

They also not badly priced.
Zamedic
I remember their burgers being a lot better. When my blue cheese burger arrived it felt lonely, such a large roll with very little inside, one pattty and some sauce. The burger was yum but the curly fries cold.
Spiced Weasel
Fun day/night out, big buns packed with flavour. Disappointed with the curly fries not so curly or fry like. Potato salad was terrible. Cocktails are yum portion sizes are big and satisfying.

Don’t judge me! I do not exclusively go for the eye candy (even though this is conveniently a benefit of dining there). The boneless wings will have you zoning out for a couple of seconds because of their deliciousness, along with their one of a kind sauces that you can dip them in. at the end of the day... i guess its safe to say.... i love their chicks!
The Food Musketeer
Even though there is stigma around hooters its quite a family joint. I love their onions rings, wings and prawns all have great flavour. Disappointed they stopped their curly fries as the machine was expensive and they stopped importing the chips.

The service is a bit of the let down the waitresses are sometimes absent minded and you have to wait to get hold of one. On one occasion we also experienced bad service apon waiting to enter. There was a queue and we waited about 20 minutes. Eventually we left after getting to the front as they kept letting in friends or people they knew so we ended up at ocean basket.
Deboconnell78
Went there for date night. Wasn't impressed. After a pricey round of drinks we left. Service was mediocre. Atmosphere was non-existent. Didn't bother with the food after we had a glimpse of the kitchen staff walking through the dining room picking food off the plates going back to the kitchen. May be good for boys nights because of the waitress eye candy but nothing else.
Gary Greenberg
For a quick meal that is far from carb free for vegetarians try their world famous curly fries. Their cheese dipping sauce is a bit salty but quite good. There is a very limited choice of meals for vegetarians on the menu unless you are up for salad. The quesadillas is basically the only thing I could have on the menu which I did enjoy. You would think there would be a simple sandwitch or veg burger or veg platter on the menu by now so hopefully this will change in the near future.

The service is a bit slow from the young girls and the businesses reputation is not as raunchy as it has been made out to be in the past.

If you are a meat eater and not in a rush, I am told, their daytona beach style chicken wings are extremely tasty and very enjoyable which will just keep you coming back for more.

Better seen as a casual lunch-in or quick dinner snack or as a sports bar.
Qualivity Blog
We often go with friends and enjoy their wings, beer, burgers and curly fries (when in stock). On the last occasion there was a queu, and after waiting about 15 min, the lady at the door kept allowing her friends in before us. When we asked her about this, she simply said that she knew them. We got quite annoyed and just left. Haven't been back since. Nice enough for a lunch, but I want a Hooters like the one in The Office.
Deran Dabideen
Went there with my wife and daughter and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and the setting nice and the food was pretty good. Would have loved to try different sauces on my food though so hope that that's an option for next time.

For some reason my original review has disappeared from Zomato, so here goes a new one…
On arrival we were greeted by friendly & helpful waitresses that showed us to a table outside on the patio.
It was stinky hot outside & our table was under a TV, so we had patrons starring in our direction all the time.
The waitress that served us started off great but faded badly. We tried for 15 minutes to get hold of her to remove our empty plates & to ask for the bill. It was most annoying.
We had ribs & wings for mains, with onion rings for sides. We couldn't have curly fries because, again, they were out of stock.
The onion rings & dip were very yummy & the wings very tasty & enjoyable. The ribs were very tasty but the meat did not just fall off the bone. It was a little tough in fact. Disappointing. The helping size also seemed less than in previous visits.
I had a cocktail & it was okay. Nothing more.
Overall it was a disappointing visit, spoiled in particular by lousy service. It sad but I'm not going to rush back in a hurry.
Hooters is a man’s dream, if he’s into girls prancing around in tight shorts that it. It is a great vibe to watch some sport, eat some wings and drink a couple of beers. They have inside and outside seating, I'd recommend sitting outside, inside it a bit dark.

Their menu is packed with typical American high calorie, deep fried food. When they are busy the atmosphere is wonderful, full of laughter and happy drunk people, but on quiet days the service is slow and the vibe is boring. Their menus really need to be redone, they are grubby and overused. I had to wash my hands after reading it. The service is okay and they are reasonably priced.

I ordered the Daytona Beach Style Chicken Wings and my friend ordered the Baja Burger with a side of potato salad. The wings were tasty and decadent, I really enjoyed them. The burger tasted okay, very hard to eat as the toppings are sloppy, but delicious; the potato salad was a joke, they literally gave us less than half a potato.

Hooters at emperors is a good clean and well run example of the franchise

The Waitresses are always friendly and make the experience just that much more pleasant, or humorous with their scantily clad outfits

The Giant pitchers of beer go down well and perfectly suited to any friday afternoon

The menu is filled with high calorie , deep fried goodness, i would recommend going for a checkup before devouring one of there tasty snack baskets , their boneless wings were very interesting and very tasty , i still find myself trying to figure out how, and how much time it must take to prepare them

I would definitely recommend Hooters as a spot to meet friends , it has a great vibe and a good alternative

Was very disappointed, next time ill rather drive to Fourways Hooters
Maritsa Gilliland
Average, expected more from notorious waitresses, food nothing exceptional. Must mention, friendly service.

I've always thought it would be great fun to go to Hooter's. And it turned out to be exactly that. I saw a lot of families sitting there, which made me realize that Hooters is more of a family restaurant, or a place where you can chill with friends. Not a strip club or a bunny house, like I had presumed. My friends and I ordered four pitchers of beer which kept the whole evening exciting and our waitress made certain that we never ran dry. The new menu is great too - some awesome chicken options! Service was excellent - our server remained attentive despite it being really really crowded. We ordered chicken wings, and they came within ten minutes. The mild sauce was delicious and I would definitely recommend hooters. I'll come back here for sure!

So here's what:

What I liked: The food, the prices and the staff. Excellent location.

What I disliked: We had to wait to be seated (But it was definitely worth the wait). There is a News Cafe right opposite to this place, which was totally empty by the way(!!!)
