Authentic Italian dining, with the option of eating out (Covid-willing) or home delivery in the Sandton area.. What's not to love?
Café 28 has a small, yet versatile menu that offers amongst other things, authentic Neapolitan style pizzas, pastas and burgers (with Italian flair) in Inanda.
I ordered two pizzas for delivery this past weekend:
Amatriciana
Tomato, Fior di Latte, Pancetta & Black Pepper
&
Diversamente Napolentana
Fior di Latte Mozzarella, Ragu Napoletano (8 Hour Slow-cooked Beef and Pork Sausage Ragu) & Basil.
So what makes this pizza so special? Authentic Neapolitan pizza has a very thin crust at the base, with dough that puffs up around the sides and provides for a very airy crust. This is not easy to achieve, but Café 28 Inanda got both the consistency and flavour profile just right!
I cannot wait to try out their legendary burgers and pastas next..
*Recommendation: For a trip to Italy in the comfort of your home, their pizzas have the perfect crust and excellent topping combinations!

A nice place to find the real Neapolitan pizza , all the ingredients are typically Italian and the quality is really good . It’s a pity that is only open Friday evening for dinner !
Andrea has brought Milano to Jozi! Friday night Pizza’s took me back to Italy with the light crisp bases and delicious toppings. The staff were attentive, friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was great and the smell of mouthwatering food filled the air. Booking is essential.
All we can say is a massive thank you to the management and staff at Cafe28. They really saved our bacon for an event we needed to host for our conference delegates! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and vibrant and the food was out of this world - basically transporting us all the way to Italy. Thank you again and would recommend this venue 11/10 times for any events!

A massive thank you to the Cafe 28 team for making the night a very special evening. The food was amazing, the tunes were banging and everyone walked away with big smiles.

Thin pizza, delicious gelato.. (hazelnut choc one u gotta try!!) Excellent coffee.

Been here multiple times and will never go to another Italian restaurant because this is the “Italian” restaurant. Imported cheese, tomatoes, olive oils. This place is so special and has a place in my heart. One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Starting to become a local here. The servers and owner is very kind and is so helpful if you don’t know what you want. My Italian background is screaming with joy. My favorite dishes is the Burrata and bufalina pizzas with added Parma ham. Highly recommend their Milanese burger too! The dough of the pizza is so light and fluffy. The sauce mixed with the cheese and olive oil just melts in your mouth. Parma ham adds that perfect saltiness although having just an iconic cheese pizza is best. Every ingredient is such quality. The pricing is reasonable as everything is imported. My opinion is that it’s so worth it. Can’t wait to be back.

I had the pizza and a fresh juice. Very filling, may be the best pizza I've had in South Africa so far. Fresh tasting ingredients and good service. When I walked downstairs I saw the amazing garden filled with beautiful Basil, tomato, zucchini and other plants and herbs. This filled me with joy. Very nice place and it's awesome to see they maybe actually grow a portion of their products themselves, which is very cool. (And even if they don't, it's nice to see the garden+apparently they import most of their products from Italy) Very authentic!
I've been to Cafe 28 twice so far. The food and service is absolutely amazing. It's in a beautiful setting with fresh food to go with a chilled bottle of wine. Management is superb and we are always looked after. Go try it for yourself!
Thanks to Alessio and staff , nothing but praises for this restaurant. My wife does not like Pizza but her mind has been changed today. She asked me never to buy her any other pizza but from here 😀 This is proper Italian pizza 🍕
I went here for neopolitan pizza that’s been hyped about at cafe 28. Wondering if they can walk the talk. Well they did, awesome authentic pizza to be had here. The char on the crust and crisp that goes with it added to the woody flavour. The centre just thick enough to hold the weight of the toppings. The tomato base just the right amount of acid, sweetness and salt. The fresh basil to top it of just perfect. The fried mini margherita was quite good too as well as the gelato and pannacotta. Great experience, will be trying it again soon, very soon.
Note: returned after 3 years, all I can say is that they have gotten better. Better pizza, pillowy crust, spongy, chewy and soft, really tasty. See the last 3 pizza pics. Prices haven’t even gone up much in 3 years. Still the best pizza in jhb, amongst the best in SA. Better service too.
Casual, safe setting with lovely skyline view from the deck. Great setting to unwind, not pretentious! Good selection of pizzas, pastas, wines & beers. Be sure to try the doughnut with pistachio ice cream for dessert 🤤 menu photos as at April 2023.
Good tasting pizza base with a chewy texture although the centre is really soft and I would’ve preferred it more cooked. Topping was mediocre.
Expensive. Hey, rent is high around here.
