Review Cafe 28 - Johannesburg

All we can say is a massive thank you to the management and staff at Cafe28. They really saved our bacon for an event we needed to host for our conference delegates! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and vibrant and the food was out of this world - basically transporting us all the way to Italy. Thank you again and would recommend this venue 11/10 times for any events!

We had the most wonderful evening at Cafe 28 celebrating a beautiful bride to be. A massive thank you to the Cafe 28 team for making the night a very special evening. The food was amazing, the tunes were banging and everyone walked away with big smiles.

There's not enough stars here!! What a fantastic authentic italian meal! Thin pizza, delicious gelato.. (hazelnut choc one u gotta try!!) Excellent coffee. Great food. Awesome service. I'm def going back!!

Been here multiple times and will never go to another Italian restaurant because this is the “Italian” restaurant. Imported cheese, tomatoes, olive oils. This place is so special and has a place in my heart. One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Starting to become a local here. The servers and owner is very kind and is so helpful if you don’t know what you want. My Italian background is screaming with joy. My favorite dishes is the Burrata and bufalina pizzas with added Parma ham. Highly recommend their Milanese burger too! The dough of the pizza is so light and fluffy. The sauce mixed with the cheese and olive oil just melts in your mouth. Parma ham adds that perfect saltiness although having just an iconic cheese pizza is best. Every ingredient is such quality. The pricing is reasonable as everything is imported. My opinion is that it’s so worth it. Can’t wait to be back.

I had the pizza and a fresh juice. Very filling, may be the best pizza I've had in South Africa so far. Fresh tasting ingredients and good service. When I walked downstairs I saw the amazing garden filled with beautiful Basil, tomato, zucchini and other plants and herbs. This filled me with joy. Very nice place and it's awesome to see they maybe actually grow a portion of their products themselves, which is very cool. (And even if they don't, it's nice to see the garden+apparently they import most of their products from Italy) Very authentic!

I've been to Cafe 28 twice so far. The food and service is absolutely amazing. It's in a beautiful setting with fresh food to go with a chilled bottle of wine. Management is superb and we are always looked after. Go try it for yourself!

Thanks to Alessio and staff , nothing but praises for this restaurant. My wife does not like Pizza but her mind has been changed today. She asked me never to buy her any other pizza but from here 😀 This is proper Italian pizza 🍕

I went here for neopolitan pizza that’s been hyped about at cafe 28. Wondering if they can walk the talk. Well they did, awesome authentic pizza to be had here. The char on the crust and crisp that goes with it added to the woody flavour. The centre just thick enough to hold the weight of the toppings. The tomato base just the right amount of acid, sweetness and salt. The fresh basil to top it of just perfect. The fried mini margherita was quite good too as well as the gelato and pannacotta. Great experience, will be trying it again soon, very soon. Note: returned after 3 years, all I can say is that they have gotten better. Better pizza, pillowy crust, spongy, chewy and soft, really tasty. See the last 3 pizza pics. Prices haven’t even gone up much in 3 years. Still the best pizza in jhb, amongst the best in SA. Better service too.

Casual, safe setting with lovely skyline view from the deck. Great setting to unwind, not pretentious! Good selection of pizzas, pastas, wines & beers. Be sure to try the doughnut with pistachio ice cream for dessert 🤤 menu photos as at April 2023.

Good tasting pizza base with a chewy texture although the centre is really soft and I would’ve preferred it more cooked. Topping was mediocre. Expensive. Hey, rent is high around here.

Undoubtedly, the best pizza in johannesburg! Neopolitan old school authentic !! Fresh Ingredients, which u don't mind paying for I've been coming here since their opening night and it has been the best ever since !

A wonderful Italian pizzeria located on a mini golf course. The location is beautiful and the food matches. We had the pizza and it was excellent. Service with a smile and fantastic ambience. Highly recommended

This is the real deal. The only way to beat this is to get onto a plane to Rome. And the prices aren't too bad either. Just be warned, that fresh chilli packs a punch.....

Wow… impressed with the quality and taste of the Neapolitan pizza. Best so far I have tasted in SA. Almost close to the one I had in Naples. A must try for authentic pizza lovers.

We stumbled across this hidden gem after a game of Padel. Sitting outdoors with the garden view was just what we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the Strawberry Daquiri, it was fresh and full of flavour. The Milanese burger was also amazing. The staff were friendly, the manager even made it a point to check in on us throughout our time there. We'll definitely be back soon! :)

Cafe 28 @ Sandton is the place to be, I really enjoyed the vibe of the place, especially upstairs, beautiful view with a breath of fresh air... I ordered THE TOP burger, nothing I've had before but definitely recommending it, I also loved the pistachio/gianduia Gelato and mango sorbet. Staff is helpful and friendly too...

Our firm hosted our End of Year party at Cafe 28 this past weekend, and it was the best one we have ever had! The service from Alessio, Joseph, Cassandra and team was impeccable. Alessio went above and beyond to make sure that all of our dietary requirements were catered for (vegan/non dairy/no pork/ no beef) and every single dish that left the kitchen was delicious. The restaurant is gorgeous and our team loved that they could play a spot of mashie during the party. Drinks were flowing from the amazing bar staff, with a range of beers, spirits and cocktails made to order with almost no wait time. Alessio gave us free rein with regard to decor and any other extras that we wanted to bring in for our Carnival theme (incl a fire dancer!) and our team of 90 had an epic time dancing the night away. For the most authentic Italian food in the city, a gorgeous view, the best service in the business AND the most amazing pistachio bombolone you will ever taste- Cafe 28 is the one to beat.

Drive to the inanda office park (Google maps takes you to another office park) and have your drivers licence ready to be checked in my security. This restaurant overlooks a golf course which made for a beautiful setting to sip on an Aperol Spritz, especially given the fact that it's Johannesburg. These pizzas are authentic Italian pizzas - absolutely out of this world and the best pizza I've had in SA. The Del Max was one of our favourites at the table! Don't come looking for your typical south African or American-style pizza bases here because you'll be disappointed. The bases were delicious and the toppings were top top top quality! Really such a brilliant find for future pizza cravings!

Second time I am disappointed. Got cold pasta today and sauce was really bad. Not worth the money spend. Sorry will not be back.

Cannot ever get hold of you to place an order. The line is always busy since 12pm. And then when you eventually get through the kitchen is closed... thanks a lot!!!!��

Went for lunch and the onwer was very rude when I told him about my drink he said he does not produce the product and I must pay for it when I told him its not safe for me to drink it he told me to gv it to someone, it sad to here there still ppl like him so it means if you satisfied you must kp quite cause he doesn't produce fizzy drink

A nice place to find the real Neapolitan pizza , all the ingredients are typically Italian and the quality is really good . It’s a pity that is only open Friday evening for dinner ! <br/>

Andrea has brought Milano to Jozi! Friday night Pizza’s took me back to Italy with the light crisp bases and delicious toppings. The staff were attentive, friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was great and the smell of mouthwatering food filled the air. Booking is essential.
