Been visiting Uncle Merv’s for some time now for some coffee and sandwiches. My favorite by far is the Tuna Sandwich.
Firstly, the price of the Tuna might scare you but the quality is exceptional. The ingredients are high quality, and it takes some time to prepare due to the artistic process it takes to make the masterpiece. So it’s worth every Rand.
The ambiance is great, the shop is situated at one of the busiest corners in Maboneng so the vibe is always fantastic. The service is great, it’s personal as Bongs makes sure to engage and know his customers well.
I would recommend anyone to visit the place.

Great place to stop for a quick coffee or milkshake, they also have pretty good crushers.
The pastries left out in the open was a little questionable, but the café's setup is great and blends into the market on main really well.
Would recommend for a quick stop or a takeaway drink.

The coffee is just OK.
You can probably find better coffee around in the area. For a capuchino I paid 40 rand, so also not the cheapest.
The good thing of the place is that it has place to sit outside (no place índice and no toilet). Also some nice pastries, smoothies, croissants, sandwiches and omelets.

As a newcomer to the Maboneng Precinct this spot is fast becoming one of my go-to’s for a delectable coffee and croissant en route to work or a delicious sandwich when I need a lunch time pick me up and a quick spot of sun. Perhaps slightly on the pricey side for sandwiches, though I suppose one cannot complain too much as their bread, bagels and croissants are always fresh and service is always on point 👌🏼

Absolutely love the coffee and croissants from this lovely little coffee shop in the middle of the hustle and bustle that is Maboneng. <br/>Saturday morning market set up adds to the uniqueness of the experience: being able to have a quick chat with the stall owners greatly added to the morning.

A very expensive sandwich (cheese and tomato) on a very dirty sidewalk. There are way too many exciting cuisines and dining experiences that Maboneng has to offer, so I won't be spending my money here again.

Came to Uncle Merv's because almost everything else was closed on Easter Sunday and we also wanted to try something new. The carrot cake was brilliant and the smoothies were one of the best I had ever tasted but the prices were quite high. Overall, it was a nice experience.

The food was good. And my boyfriend really enjoyed the coffee. The only downfall is that they do not swipe so you need to withdraw cash. Overwise overall it is a nice and cozy spot

I'm not a breakfast person, but I must say. I'm hooked on their chocolate croissant and minty hot chocolate. Done! I still have to explore more of their menu, especially the hot drinks and their unique homemade shakes. ☕️????

Worst coffee ever, sadly. Being a confessed coffee snob myself, my only real vice in life is an excellent coffee. Be it espresso, cappucino, americano, latte etc. It needs to be a perfect cuppa, and this is not it. The place has such charm, it was a real dissapointment
