Review New York Minute - Johannesburg

Ordered a salad for take away. Awesome chicken salad. A typical restaurant adds bucket loads of leaves and green salad to make the salad look more than it is. There is not a single leaf in their salad. Cucumber, carrots, onion, feta and spring onion with cajun chicken. And it tastes awesome. And the coffee is perfect. Baristas know what they're doing. You get so many coffee shops that never get it right. Always over or under extracted. These guys get it spot on! Would recommend.

Quick, friendly, efficient service, and they got the order right - leaving onions off one of the two hot dogs. Doesn't always happen on multi-item orders. The meal was tasty and filling, too.

I ordered cup cakes with a short deadline & not only did Martin make sure I got the freshest, most delicious cupcakes ever; he went out of his way to assist me all with a smile on his face! Thank you so much guys :) Will always come back!

Whenever I have a meeting, conference or convention in Sandton this is my early morning coffee shop. The service is great and the coffee even better, what more could you want after you have spent an hour or so in the traffic already. New York is the coffee vibe you need for the ‘caffeine fix’

It's just a hole in the wall, but the coffee is top notch and so are the meals. My personal favourite is the railway coffee. And the burgers are just awesome.

Best Chicken Salad in Jhb. However, the staff should be smiling and a bit more speedy in requests

Love the vegan cakes however it only seems to get delivered on a Sunday afternoon - after the weekend is over

Let's consider opening earlier... really like the coffee and experience... and the staff esp Tshepiso & mandy helped me with a smile even though I arrived early!

I really enjoy the coffee here as well as the background music. For a little place out in the open it's great.

Given the name New York Minute, I thought I’d try their hotdogs .<br/>I was bitterly disappointed , the quality I felt was way below par.<br/>Credit to the manager for taking customer service seriously and replaced my meal . That earned an extra star. I am not sure of the other meal options but hotdogs are a No No !

First time trying this place and definitely my last time trying this place. I am highly disappointed. The service was slow and unresponsive. The staff had a bad attitude and we waiting for unrealistically long time for simple eggs on toast! I would not recommend this place.

I ordered lunch via Uber Eats, so I can only comment on the food I received. <br/><br/>I had a chicken, cheese mayo sandwich. <br/>It came well presented and secured in a clear plastic “lunch box”. The sandwich filled the entire box, bottom to the top. Looked good. <br/><br/>The sandwich was pleasant if a little dry. Lots of filling but needed more mayo/sauce to keep chicken & sandwich moist. <br/><br/>Overall it was fresh & crispy and enjoyable.<br/>Worth giving them another try.

It isn’t the watered down coffee or the slow WiFi that’ll get me to never look at this place again, it’s the bad attitude of the staff. Not the first time I’ve experienced this.. not the first time my friends have experienced this. <br/>The service was never like this. <br/>It’s too early in the morning to ask for my money back because of rude and sarcastic staff.

My husband wanted to explore this coffee bar at Sandton Shopping center, as we have walked past this coffee bar a lot many times.  Yayy!! we finally did get a chance to grab our caffeine dose amidst the busy shopping hours. We were totally amazed with their Cappucino and Chai Latte.<br/><br/>Overall, an awesome coffee bar for a quick grab and go. Would definitely be back.

A small tucked away coffe stop in sandton city, which served a great cold beverage and awesome pretty good cheesecake. <br/>Definitely a must try pit stop if you are in the mall!!

Good coffee. It's a great stop if ur trying to buy food on the go. Their prepacked foods are of a good variety and are fresh. They also have the option of toasting it or grilling the food for you that you buy out the fridge .

Lovely hidden gem in the banking mall area. The bagels are delicious, I ordered the Manhattan which had roasted peppers, avo and cream cheese. The bagel is topped with pumpkin seeds and is excellent when toasted. My sister had the sushi which was fresh and we'll presented. The coffee is very good, will definitely return for more!

I was in Sandton and feeling for a coffee so I decided to try New York Minute out for the first time. I've been wanting to go here for quite a while but just haven't had the chance. I got there just before 19:30 and I knew that they only closed at 8pm. When I tried to order a coffee, the lady serving me told me that she couldn't make a coffee because they had already put cleaning chemicals on the coffee machine. I then questioned why she couldn't make me a coffee when there was still over half an hour left until closing time. She then proceeded to ask me what I would like and told me that she'd just have to clean the machine again. <br/><br/>While waiting for my cappuccino, she began complaining to her colleagues in another language at the fact that she had to serve me. After she made my cappuccino, she suddenly became very chatty and asked me if I work in Sandton and told me that I should try their flavoured coffees. As I left the café, I took one sip of my cappuccino and it was ice cold and tasted horrible. I guess I should have taken the hint when she told me that she couldn't make me a coffee. I don't think I'll be going back here again!

I have lunch here probably three times a week. Every time it's the same meal coronation chicken salad. I enjoy it. I have found lately they are stingy with the chicken but I still go back. I love how they are always innovating- I saw soup there today. Love their imported sweets and think it's awesome place for a quick take away meal.

Cool little stand-alone coffee bar in the banking mall in Sandton city. Place to grab a coffee and quick meal on the go spot.<br/>Coffee quite decent and hot, perfect for the winters morn.<br/>They have an array of pre-made sandwiches and bagels with interesting and varied fillings- next-level cupcakes and muffins along with cake of the day.<br/>Another nice touch is the Anerican snacks and drinks they have in the awesome display fridge. Snapples and the American iced coffees etc.<br/>The service was ok, staff not the friendliest, but wasn't sitting down so wasn't a big deal.

I don't think the place still deserves to have this name there's not much on the menu that screams New York they no longer sell hot pretzels and they didn't have bagels so basically they just had blt. I love the convenience and that there is someone standing by the fridge in case someone needs assistance or to pick someone's brain about what they have on offer. I didn't like the salad they helped me pick the chicken was succulent but there was a huge chunk of cream I assume cream cheese which didn't tie in with anything at all in the salad I also didn't love the flavors in the chicken.

I have walked past this cafe multiple times while at Sandton but never bothered to stop on by. My boyfriend and I had their railway coffee the other day. Apparently it was supposed to have condensed milk in, but it didn't taste like it so it was quite a bummer. However, the environment is nice.

Fresh food, always great quality and variety of vegetarian options. Super convenient when you are simply passing by or want to sit for a quick bite. Coffee also quality.

Love this little convenient café in Sandton, the food is always fresh (sandwiches) and so tasty. Grabbed a BLT sandwich whilst I was on the run and oh my! the taste took me by surprise. I was filled and very satisfied. Definitely worth a try

Cute little cafe which is very convenient for on the run meals. Tried the Red Pepper bagel which was really delicious and quite a big portion so kept my tummy happy for a while

This place is an awesome spot to grab a quick bite to eat when doing some shopping. If you're in Sandton and you wanna get some really great tasting food and avoid the chaotic lines and over crowded tables of the food court then you must check it out.<br/><br/>Their sandwiches are phenomenal and taste amazing. The bread is soft and spongy and you can taste the freshness in every bite. I had a BLT and i was very impressed with how good it was. <br/><br/>I will definitely be returning whenever I'm in Sandton and need to grab a meal on-the-go.

I always come to this spot to grab quick bite and avoid the chaos of the food court. <br/><br/>This awesome grab 'n go spot offers a great variety of freshly prepared sandwiches and other baked treats. There are also tables where you can sit and enjoy your food. <br/><br/>I love New York Minute, and will continue to support them as I find they offer something different and it also saves a lot of time while you're busy shopping!

Fantastic coffee! Possibly the best you're gonna get in Sandton City. Sit down or take away, you won't be disappointed. Friendly staff and range of fresh confectioneries and ready to eat meals also available.

This little shop is such a great concept, and the coffee is amongst the best in Sandton. The staff are hard working and try their best to make everyone happy. However, therein lies the problem. <br/>The staff of this shop are completely let down by management/ownership. There are quite simply no morning procedures/structures in place.<br/>Every morning I witness people leaving this shop in frustration because amongst many issues, there is no float, there is no change, they have to wait 20mins to have a sandwich toasted, the coffee order gets mixed up. The list goes on. <br/>Now this plays on me as I used to own a restaurant and these sort of failings tend to compound and the staff is usually to blame. I fear that there might already be issues as the stock on shelf and fridges is looking increasingly thin.<br/>Quite simply, the staff are frantically trying to get everything unpacked, merchandised, blended, poured, counted and still serve coffees to all the people arriving for work. You clearly don't trust your staff as you are more focused on counting coffee cups, than ensuring that there is enough change in the till. And, no, it is completely counterproductive for your store manager to have to go to the bank everyday to buy change. What if there is no change? Give them more money, enough to last for a week.<br/>I feel sorry for the pressures that you put your staff under, and it is yet another example of a business being poorly driven by remote control.

Lovely little spot to grab a quick pizza slice, muffin and presses juice! Their choc hazelnut chocolate rock and caramel fudge milkshakes are divine! 😱😁😁 insanely good! Definitely try it out!!

I had the Caramel Delish Freezo<br/><br/>It was sooooo good, full of flavor and the texture of the freezo was just right <br/><br/> The service was good, efficient. The staff was very kind and helpful <br/><br/>I definitely have to come back for more! I'm loving this place 👍🏽

Every time i come here, i always order the coffee freezo and i just really love it! It has a unique taste to it. Even though they do not real coffee/expresso to make it like the Seattle freeze at Seattle coffee, and instead they blend it with coffee flavoured powder, it is still really yummy and refreshing!

When I saw this little coffee shop, I was quite excited.  And everything sounded so yummy.  Although I was very puzzled that no cheesecake was to be seen ... that's typical New York to me.<br/><br/>The waiters are all very friendly and there are a few little tables to sit at.  I ordered the 3 Cheeses and Rosemary Pretzel Stick.  I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't this.  It looked more like a soft hot dog bun with cheeses on top.<br/><br/>My highlight however was the drink ... a Chock Hazelnut Rock - (under New York Gourmet Shakes).  Wow, it was just absolutely amazing!!!!  Chocolate, Hazelnut flavour and something crunchy.<br/><br/>My friend took the Roasted Butternut and Hummus Salad.  However, she neglected to read the fine print ... and after 2 bites choked on the chilli flakes.  The waiter was very pleasant though (my friend orders lot of coffee there during the week) and made her another salad without chilli flakes.  Admittedly, the salad is quite a nice portion size.<br/><br/>Yeah, I was a bit disappointed.  But I will defo go back for the shakes!!!

The must be one of the BEST coffee shop offices around! There are enough tables so that people aren't bothering you trying to find out when you are going to leave and there are plug points next to most tables. As a cherry on the top the coffee is good and won't break the bank😊 Pity the parking is so expensive in Sandton City - otherwise I would come and work here more!

Convenient little cafe in the Sandton City Mall that is relatively new. Good for a takeaway coffee/cappucino although they do have some tables to sit down, eat , drink and watch the mall rats. Coffee was ok - a touch bitter.

A really nice looking coffee spot with great sandwiches, wraps and salads. They offer a wide range of imported candies and drinks (including Starbucks iced coffee). The service is generally very good. The only downside is the coffee which I think maybe due to the barista's preparation of the coffee.

Popped past the banking section of Sandton city for a quick business and spotted this beautiful looking cafe so decided to give it a try. It has a very good ambiance and the it is well situated. There is enough space to sit down and have a quick meeting or something on the go. I think we will start seeing more of this brand around as it seems to be well run.
