24.01.2018 If you a lover of Junk food, or looking for a cheat day meal that ticks all the boxes, give this place a try. It's been around forever and is a firm favourite for those who know the food. We took some colleagues to introduce them to toasted sarmis and we didn't scare them with an AK47 as yet but did explain what it is. We all had the famous Toasted Steak special. Masala Chips, Cheese and Steak with tomato and mustard sauce. It's so good when eaten hot, and the cheese is still all melted. It's very filling and the portion size is just right.
If you brave enough go get yourself some.
The original. Killer pizzas and fast foods with a signature of it's own. I do feel that the franchising of the brand has taken away slighlty from the authenticity of the product, but that's pobably just in my mind. Worth a shot for every person, local or traveller, this is what South Africa tastes like
I finally got to satisfy my craving for their toasted steak special - and it was damn good.
I haven't really tried anything else on the menu, and the actual resturant itself is not the best place to sit down and have your meal in terms of decor and appeal. So my rating is purely based on the sandwich which I'll order over and over again.

HiI travel monthly from Cape Town to JHB and must make a stop at Akhals prior to returning to take back the delicious meals for my familyThe owners are fantastic and always willing to assist in packing the rolls an sandwiches into foil - and when I get home there are as delicious as if it were made 10 minutes ago.See you guys soon and thanks for the great food.Regards Nadeem

A hidden gem for some nice sandwiches. some of which looks more like a complete meal. Their dagwood sandwich is a killer, which might leave you clueless how to tackle it. I specially like their sandwiches with salad, sauce, chips & chicken. For veggies, you can get the beef options swapped with soya instead of beef. They also have pizza with chips as toppings, and that is something you do not get so often.

No off street parking, it can become dangerous especially at night.
On weekends it's too busy and waiting times can be very long. Calling in an order is always preferable. Always add an extra 10 minutes to the times given to avoid waiting.
There are many akhalwayas shops in Johannesburg. This shop is most certainly the flagship. The food I always buy is the famous wonder y. In my view this is the Rolls Royce of pizzas in all the land. It has virtually everything on it steak, polony chips, you name it. I have recently tried the chicken wonder y but it's a case of different strokes for different folks. I didn't enjoy it but the people I was with did. Other items worth trying are the wits special, polony, AK47 and Vienna special rolls. Recently at a business meeting we ordered the AK47 and the people I was with (all out of towners)had nothing but good things to say. Awesome food, will always go back but will call and order first to avoid waiting.
Akhalwayas is a real secret to all things amazing! A pizza with all the toppings you love all in one bite.. need I say more? The Wonder why pizza is heavenly from steak to polony to spicy crispy chips this pizza is to die for. If you love sandwiches there are plenty on offer to wet your appetite! Worth the wait and drive if you near fordsburg!
