The bartender was super friendly. Lovely place for drinks with friends after work. Didn't try the food as it was a short visit. It was pretty empty but it was nice just chilling

I felt like a good burger and onion rings and that's what I got. The service is a bit slow, but friendly and the setting is nice and intimate. Definitely one of the top burger spots in Jo'burg if you're not into franchises like me.
We didn't plan to spend our evening at The Taphouse, but here we are. The team was awesome and assured us that we will have a great time. Service was prompt, vibe was great. We didn't eat here, but we did have cold beer, lots of shooters and Arsenal won their 13th FA Cup
May 13 evening: We struggled a lot to find this place based on directions from #Zomato. As per that, this place is on crossroads of 4th avenue and 13th street. However, it is between 6th and 7th street. We walked up and down on the 4th avenue. Finally, we find the place. The place is opposite Jolly roger which seemed to be more happening at that time. We reach to find lot of people from our office. Surprsingly, there was no music playing inside. The place is dimly lit and except for the lack of music, a good place to hang out. Ordering was a bit difficult as there was no one to take our orders and it took time to get our beers. Ordered for the blue mushroom burger which comes with hand made fries. The burger tasted good. Among non veg, ordered the piggly pot - assortment of finger foods. A bit surprised at lack of options for finger foods. We finished our beers and moved to another place on Friday night.
Awesome pub. Delicious burger and really good wedges.
Great vibe and service, perfect place to watch the football.
A good place to go if you want a bit more chilled scene than the places next door. We especially go here later in the evening to unwind and chat a bit without the loud music. They have a good variety of beer as well and has a good beer house feel on it.
Cool sidewalk spot in Parkhurst opposite Jolly Rogers. They have a decent selection of craft beer on tap, which is half price on a Wednesday! On a Thursday they offer 30% off their streetfood section on the menu. In the image you'll see we had the jalapeño poppers (J Bombs) and the crumbed milk stout risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella, cheddar and pepperdews served with a curry sauce (they're called Amazeballs and they are pretty amaze). Beer gets a thumbs up, service gets a thumbs up, food seems great but I really didn't try enough to judge accurately. Just needs a bit of music outside :)
Excellent as a local pub. Friendly, knowledgeable waiters and excellent pub food. It's not intended to be a fine dining establishment - more like Cheers, friendly and relaxed.
A great little neighborhood pub where the locals gather to watch soccer. For a pub the grub is actually very good although the tables and floors were dirty & grimly. We sat outside across from other pubs and the whole area was quite vibey for a Sunday afternoon. Not a destination pub but one which is clearly a favourite with the locals.
This is the best local around. Good vibe good food and the best service Moses runs a tight ship. This is the place. A really. Good jol
Service is very friendly and the music and food is great. Lovely to sit outside and have a beer on sunny days. They also have a great selection of beer on tap. The vegetarian burger was a bit disappointing and bland.
The barman were so welcoming
The music great and atmosphere. Domt like that beggars come in to make you feel uncomfortable I feel for them really do but they drunk when they ask for money. Only put off
So if you're expecting a big beer experience with a large selection of beer on tap and you're now going to taste beer from around the country like the name suggests - this isn't it.
However, the service was good and the food was delicious. With my friends we experienced the chicken wings, chicken strips and their burgers. All of which were delicious, served on warm plates and presented very well. The rugby was being shown on many TV screens while we were there too.
So in summary, a nice bar in parkhurst with good food not specialising in on tap beer.
Nice little gastro pub. Very good burgers great size on the patties.
Chilled ambiance. Outside section is street side so you get to see all the cars and people going by. Only thing is the hawkers are right there too trying to sell you stuff or beg for money.
I rate they have the best burgers on 4th Avenue. Better than Hudsons! Andrew and his staff are always friendly and they have great service. If you enjoy watching sport this is a great little pub for that. Around 21:00 - 22:00 the duke box is switched on and the place gets pretty full.
Intimate bar, excellent service with a smile and delious pub food. Highly recommend the 'amaze balls' off the street food menu. You won't be disappointed! There is a duke box inside and there is always a vibe.
Neighbourhood haunt for relaxed music and shooting pool. A calm before the storm of a bigger night out.
Relaxed outside area, where older people (...like 40 year old me) can hear the storytelling without evoking the skill of lip-reading
Intimate setting, wide range of drinks from whiskeys to wine to craft beers. It is small so when it is busy it gets quite crowded. But other than that a good clean setting.
Good vibes. Good music. The staff is very friendly and professional. Everyone seemed to be having a good time there.
Great local pub with underrated food. The waiters are friendly and well trained. The jukebox gets switched on around 22:00 and keeps going well into the night.
