This place is unbelievably amazing! It is definitely one of the top two Indian restaurants in Joburg. The food is so tasty and we'll spiced. And the portion sizes are reasonable. Highly recommended.
Above average Indian food. I've had excellent breyani and paneer from Swagath. Despite being mild the food was full of flavour. Not a great place for sitting down, but perfect for a takeaway.
Attentive service and food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Nice small restaurant with quite a wide and varied menu. My first visit but will definitely return.
Small little spot a bit hidden away in the bottom corner of the shopping centre. It is however worth looking for it. And this how I like it - small, unpretentious, and great food.
Have now been here multiple times, which speaks volumes. Staff are friendly, quick and efficient. Manager now knows what to recommend when I sit down. Wonderfully flavoured pappadums are on the table within minutes.
The menu is quite varied - vegetarian, chicken, lamb curries in all guises - and a lot more. Good menu but not confusing.
I regularly go for a lamb curry of some flavour - and these guys do not disappoint! Some of the best curries I have found in Johannesburg.
Recommended.

Repeat visit:
Tried something new: Paneer Tikka starter - amazing - cheese is made on site and the flavours are incredible.
This place is our almost daily gateway dinner destination and I am writing this review after almost 20 visits to this place.I love the food they serve, really delicious comes with real indian taste. If you are wondering where can you find the authentic indian food, this is the place. You should try their dum biryani and if vegan , try their mushroom masala.
This place is pretty great. I've grabbed a takeaway about 3 times now and haven't been disappointed. The food is fresh, flavourful and authentic. Located just underneath Chicago's piano bar.
Really good food and service, always have the aloo gobi mutter extra hot and paneer butter masala! The naan breads are good as well and so are the starters
Ordered paneer pakoda, paneer butter masala, chilli paneer & tandoori roti. Food was fresh & absolutely delicious. Will definitely buy from there again.
Great food, great service, a lot of options, really accommodating for vegans. We were really happy to find this great Indian place close to us.
This is our "go-to" Indian restaurant. We have a take-away from here 2 or 3 times a month. Their food is delicious! I am vegetarian and really enjoy their paneer dishes. The paneer kebab and paneer tikka are great. The aloo tikki chaat is also really good. My husband has tried a few chicken curries but his favourite is the butter chicken - rich and full of flavour.
The food takes a while, but is totally worth the wait.
Oh wow is all I can say. The food is seriously amazing. I had the Prawn Curry. It was the best I ever had. Most delicious. It's a real traditional Indian food. Service is good and restaurant is quaint. We've had the lamb curry on the bone too and it was awesome. Looks are deceiving... but really worth the visit. The menu is really vast. So much to offer you. Have a big appetite when u go there. There Naan bread is oh wow amazing.
A friend of ours suggested this restaurant and I can also recommend it. The food is really tasty and portion sizes are perfect. Staff are friendly and extremely polite.
North Indian menu, which has a different mix of masala and preparation when compared to Malay style of cooking. Food has options for mild, medium or hot. Recommended flavour is mild or medium; food is tasty and prepared well. Option to sit down and eat at the restaurant ; or order take away is available. Staff are helpful and friendly. Expect about 15-20 minute wait for food orders. Can busy at dinner times, consider ordering ahead. Covid-19 safety protocols apply : temperature checks, sanitize and face mask.
I love this place, very Indian very authentic, their chicken samosas are awesome, mutton curry on bone is best n good portion. The gentleman was very friendly and helpful
This place is just amazing! Halal friendly!
The food was exceptional and fresh, the service was good, place is clean and the entire experience was worth it!
Great recommendation.
Great place to have indian cuisine. Must try chicken majestic and chicken dum biryani.
But chicken lollipops are too bad in taste.
Whereas first time had rohu curry over there its was yummy.
This was my first visit to Swagath. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. We ordered samosas, a lamb vindaloo, a chicken madras and a chicken korma. These were absolutely mouthwatering and I could not fault either of the dishes presented. The dishes have generous portion sizes and are served in lovely dishes, which really adds to the experience.
Each main is served with fluffy rice, but we also ordered naans and a roti as sides. Both of these were as authentic as I can imagine, soft and with just the right amount of chew to make them very moreish.
As a sit in, the venue is clean and well presented but does lack warmth and a wee bit of personality. Other than that, it was a lovely experience with happy diners all round.
Try the lamb curry on bone, hot. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned.
I've only had lamb bunny delivered from them a few times
I highly recommend it! 👌
I'd give the lamb bunny 10 stars if I could 🌟
The bread is always fresh, the meat is cooked to perfection, the spices are big in your mouth and it's boneless!
Keep it up Swagath! You guys rock 🤘
Definitely returning! The owner of the store took his time to go through the menu with us and advised what would work in terms of what we were after. The food was incredible! Look forward to stopping by again
