The staff are lovely, following all covid protocols, the food and sushi was amazing. The white sangria did however have a weird aftertaste. Ba definite must try, their food is exceptional

I ordered a platter for two, which includes Calamari heads and tails, Prawns, Hake (fish) with rice and chips. I was little afraid to taste sea food because of smell. But the story is different here, it's so delicious and no smell. Worthy to be there.

The food is amazing and the service Is impeccable. This ocean basket is by far the best that I have ever been to. I have been here several times since 2017 and they have been and are still serving great food.

Ocean Basket staff were very friendly & welcoming on saturday. I requested 2 grilled hake with chips & rice which was ready promptly. I was also offered for my order to be brought to my car. The lemon butter sauce that accompanied the meal was outstanding. So I will definitely visit this restaurant again soon. The place is also kept spotlessly clean including their tables.

This is my first visit to this OB branch. Seems each OB brings something unique, this one is the delightful dessert menu (note to self, Do Not bring your Pilates instructor with you to lunch next time!). Although we had a rocky start (sorry, we don't have this, we don't have that in stock), the day went well thanks to good service and great food.

I was amazed at how good the sushi was. Admittedly, my friends had it, not me. But from the presentation and tastes I had, I was impressed. I tend to avoid this Ocean Basket because their service is usually slow. But, apart from forgetting a glass of water, they were pretty much on point. I'll give it another shot some time. They've kinda redeemed themselves.

Great service, great food and great prices. What more could one ask for. Prawns were amazing, sushi was amazing and the service was great. Definitely my new seafood spot, and for those who haven’t been there I strongly recommend it...you won’t regret it Well done to the staff and managers. Keep up the great work

I have visited the restaurant a number of times with my two young children. The kids love the food and the opportunity to play in a small and simple play area, but it gives them the chance to release none the less. The waiters are attentive, the service is quick and the food is very good . Ocean Baskets have the reputation for producing really good fish dishes at even better prices. A great venue for a nice dinner.

I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best Ocean Basket's that I have been to. The quality of the food is amazing and the waiters go the extra mile to ensure you are having a good meal. The management is always on the ball and the manager always has a big smile waiting for you. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Wonderful ambiance and service, friendly staff and were very accommodating when I asked to swap out some ingredients from my meal. Owner and Manager always very attentive and very pleasant. The food was Great.

Definitely always a reliable place to go regardless of whether busy or quiet. Service is quick and standard of food remains consistently good. Staff all very friendly and personable. Have eaten here many times and will continue to support them.

Well run owner managed restaurant. Waiters are polite and efficient. Restaurant is clean compared to other OB's in Gauteng. Food quality is really good ... what you expect from an Ocean Basket. It was refreshing to have an OB meal prepared the way it was done when this franchise started. I would certainly return with my family, friends and business associates. (Obo close friend) Salad was drenched in balsamic vinegar, causing all the veggies to go limp and wet/sloppy. Panko prawn was dry.

First time in 20 years that I did not enjoy an Ocean Basket Platter! The hake fillets were tiny, tasteless slivers of fish and the mussels had a foul taste! After informing the waiter that the mussels were off, he returned to tell us that the kitchen staff said: 'that's just how the mussels taste'. He returned 15 minutes later to ask if everything is okay and I told him a second time that the mussels are definitely off, and suggested that the staff taste the mussels themselves. He eventually brought more mussels that tasted just as foul as the original batch! We didn't eat the second batch either out of fear of getting sick. When I asked for the manager I was told he went out a few minutes earlier. I am still in awe at the nonchalant attitude this restaurant has about serving seafood that is off! No wonder this branch of Ocean Basket is always empty... We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived at 17h30 and there were only 4 tables of diners when we left at 19h10. I will not be returning to this OB, but hope that the quality of food will improve.

I did not enjoy the Hake and Veg. The Spinach tasted earthy and the Butternut seemed watered down and as though there was cornstarch added to it. The Hake was not very nice. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly and efficient.

My regular fish fix. Always fresh, great staff and my favorite ... ice cream and halva! Keep it up. Husband favorite is the sushi and mine is the fresh feesh and chips!

As far as Ocean Basket's go, I was impressed with my visit to this little outlet serving up seafood and sushi at Morning View Centre. <br/><br/>Service: <br/>Friendly, attentive and quick!<br/><br/>Food: <br/>It was a cold, rainy day so I wanted typical comfort food offerings so I decided to sample some of the new dishes recommended by the waiter.<br/>- Tomato Fish Soup: Tomato & Mediterranean herb soup with white fish pieces. This soup was well-prepared but my least favourite dish of the day and just not to my tastes at all. <br/>- Grilled calamari tossed in Mediterranean salsa topped with rocket.<br/>- Creamy Salmon Soup, with a rich, velvety texture and a sprinkle of spring onion for zest. This creamy salmon soup was absolute perfection and had so much flavour! <br/>- Deep fried Warehou Goujons with zesty mayo. Silver Warehou is a game fish sourced from the deep Pacific waters of New Zealand and has firm, white flesh with a high fat content that is ideally suited to Winter feasting, offering a thick fillet with very few bones. Best ocean basket by far, great food, great atmosphere, great service and the owner Timo is a really wonderful man who cares about his restaurant and customers so much

Had a terrible lunch there today.. Apple and mint drink 1 liter arrives for R99. No mint in it.. just a cordial in fizzy water half full of ice so a bit of a rip off actually... Let that one go. Next sushi arrives with hardly any wasabi or ginger. Ask for more and it comes. Next up the clincher..Seafood Platter for 2. We love this dish usually BUT fish dry and either not fresh or overcooked or pre-cooked. So by this stage we are over it. Ask for manager who arrives and not really able to offer any help so calls owner/boss. Explain whole saga culminating in dry fish. Boss says fish is fresh and nothing wrong with it. I ask him to take the platter away and then he just disappears and doesn't come back to try remediate. Bad food, bad service, bad experience. Really disappointed cause we love ocean basket usually but won't be going back to that one.

We went for a quick lunch and advised the waiter we were in a hurry..we ordered and our food promptly arrived I thoroughly enjoyed my Cajun calamari and halloumi cheese..the stir fried veg was really tasty too..my mum enjoyed her grilled kingklip too..friendly attentive service

I have now eaten there three times.On each occasion the food and service has been outstanding. Real value for money.<br/>I have eaten at five Ocean Basket franchises to date.<br/>I rate this one as the best of the lot.<br/><br/>Have been back there a few more items including today. Stand by my rating and it is definitely the top OB franchise that I have visited.<br/><br/>Been back twice over last month. Everything has been downsized. Soles were like large sardines,starch portions reduced,and salad portion reduced and tasteless. On both occasions the owner/franchisee was absent. Perhaps place has been sold. Taken together with my last two visits to the Sunninghill branch I don’t believe that this chain offers value for money anymore.

I had lunch at this branch yesterday for Mother's Day. We come here often and I love their food. Unfortunately yesterday wasn't so great. I had the prawns and a few were so overlooked the mush wouldn't even come out the shell. I did tell the waiter and showed him. He didn't even apologize. No one came to discuss it so I presume he didn't even tell anyone. I understand they were very busy, service wasn't that great, but I got so sick from the prawns as I got home, clearly something was wrong here. Although the other family members at the table loved their food, I won't be rushing back

Really phenomenal and prompt service. Waiter was incredibly attentive. Great food and ambience. Management was actively involved in the kitchen. Not surprisingly had a very good meal.

I joined my parents for dinner here on Thursday evening (23 March). It really was a great meal. I had the famous and chips, my dad had the grilled sole and my mom had the bonsai sushi platter. The service was excellent and I am most impressed by the owner who is always present and treats his customers like family.

You get Ocean Baskets and then you get OCEAN BASKETS. Sandton City's outlet I avoid at all expense, the Morningside one however is small, family oriented and always a pleasure to visit. As can he expected, the menu offers the same variety as elsewhere. The quality of the meals and service are however significantly better. Well done, you guys have a winning recipe here (no pun intended) !

Definitely worth a try! Had a great experience and much better than when I used Uber Eats and got the wrong order and cold and burnt food! They have definitely upped their game! Will give them another try. #welldone

Service was fantastic- our waiter was friendly and efficient. Food was DELICIOUS! We had fish and calamari. Calamari was as soft as butter. Such a lovely dinner!

I like ocean basket...good, affordable seafood that is tasty. This one is no different. Had the seafood platter for two...they were happy to swop the fish for prawns. The venue is quite cozy for a winter's day. Good lunch.

Ocean Basket overall has come to stand for good value and quality - excellent fish at a very good price - and this branch in particular is excellent. Service and food is top notch - the manager is very attentive and involved. My favorite is the Bassa / Pangasius. This Ocean Basket never disappoints!

Not a bad little basket after all. Service not the greatest but not terrible. The one time i did eat there, I ordered the good ol fish and chips but my pan had a hint of dishwashing flavor in it. Guess that means it's clean right?

What can I say about this resturant other than they are people with a soul. It shows in their cooking, their service and in the overall experience. To make the day better, they treated just under 20 nurses for a 3 course fully sponsored lunch, in aid of nurses day. In fact the group sponsored 400 lunches today in their stores countrywide. Just wonderful!!! Traditional and homely, worth the seafood experience.

24.03.2015. After visiting our friend whose just had a baby we looked for something nearby the hospital and weren't keen on the usual options on rivonia Rd. We've never been to this shopping centre on South Road yet I use to use this way to get to and from work.<br/><br/>On arrival it was quite empty but the place was clean and neat and very friendly welcoming staff. We were seated and served immediately. We started off with a garlic roll and asked for the mussel sauce. It came very quick from ordering to on our table to in our tummies. Great starter very filling and the bread was just AMAZING. We then proceeded to order mains which also arrived in good time. I had the prawns with the salad and my friend had the prawns and veg. The dressing on the salad always has me hooked.<br/><br/>Food was delicious loved the extra sauce we still had. Our waiter Brian was good and attentive and friendly.<br/><br/>Definitely a spot I will recommend. Good service and good food.

Enjoyed a late dinner with some friends. Good sushi, nice and fresh. I do love me some tempura prawn rolls. <br/>I ordered the cheesy garlic prawns as a main meal because it's a very rich dish. The creamy feta cheese and garlic sauce are perfect with the bread. <br/>Team this with a Savanna Light and I was a happy girl indeed.

Even though all the other restaurants were closing and they only had one other table occupied Ocean Basket agreed to serve us. <br/><br/>As far as what I like to call "bargain sushi" (sushi made in non-sushi restaurants) goes this was really good with the rolls a good size and the rice a nice consistency. We all ordered from different parts of the menu and we were all served at the same time in a surprisingly short time (maybe not that surprising since by then we were the only table). <br/><br/>It was nice that the owner/manager came to our table to enquire about the food as well as the waiters informing us that the kitchen was closing if we wanted to order dessert. <br/><br/>All in all, a nice mid-week stop.

Ocean Basket is one of my favourite restaurants of all time. The welcome bread is the best part of the experience. Lol. Sushi is the actual draw card. Sushi is tricky to perfect, but Ocean Basket knows exactly how to get it right. Love this restaurant and the Morningside branch is no different!

My girlfriend and I went to Ocean Basket in Morningside this evening and ordered 2 cajun spiced hake and chips. Contrary to the usual quality of the hake, i.e. 1 or 2 fish being of good quality, we were presented with 4 small hakes of very poor quality.<br/>On eating the fish my girlfriend mentioned that the fish didn't taste right. The manager and owner were called over to make it known that the texture and quality of the fish was really bad. <br/>The manager explained that they received bad quality hake, but their next delivery would be better.<br/>Hereafter the owner was called over, and the<br/>best the owner could do was explain the the fish was supplied from a head office, and he knew the quality was bad. His suggestion was to order the kingklip the next time.<br/>My girlfriend didn't even eat half of her fish, and didn't ask for a 'doggie bag', it was so bad.<br/>After having listened to the owner's head office wows, he stated the next time we eat at his restaurant he would compensate us.<br/>Does this comment make any sense? <br/>Surely he should have tried to right his wrongs there and there?<br/>We certainly won't be going back to this Ocean Basket, in order to be 'looked after the next time', so eloquently put by the owner. Restaurants get a one time chance when they mess up.<br/>Really bad quality and service, a big 'No Go' from us.

Such a gem in a quiet little shopping centre. It's a Greek themed Ocean Basket with Greek dancing on certain evenings. Great service and seafood prepared well. Tasty as you would expect from Ocean Basket.Outside seating available as well as kiddies play area

I've been here for the 2nd time. The first was good, however last nights was not the greatest. I ordered the "pick of the ocean" which has fish which was over cooked to a point that it's like eating rubber; prawns which werent that good; and calamari which was the best thing on the plate. I returned the fish and they bought me one that was a little better. All in all the food lacked seasoning and the experience was just disappointing.

It's an ocean basket. Enough said. The budget meal of seafood. It's quality and service is a little above average. It's a good alternative to going to a steak restaurant. At morningside the owner is always present which ensures the service is good
