Great service from the waiter Keith who took care of us from the beginning until the end of the dinner. Delicious chicken livers but quite spicy. Main course we choose ostrich fillet and kudu with a side of garlic baby potatoes and cinnamon butternut and creamy spinach. Good vibes and nice location. We loved it thank you so much for the beautiful experience!!!

We had a wonderful "Date Night", and are glad we booked in advance. We were greeted by name at the door by manager Jason, and taken to our cosy, comfortable booth in the tastefully decorated restaurant. Soft lighting, nice music played at a volume that still allowed for good conversation, and decor that was calming and initimate. We were very relaxed when the food arrived, initially some garlic olives and thinly slices fried potato. This went well with the Hussars 50th anniversary bottle of red wine that was a part of the date night special menu. Our waitresses were lovely and patient with us, offering a broad range of choices to accompany the three course meal. Attention to detail was perfect, working through a list of entree, main and dessert choices, then the side dish of preference, cut of steak and how we wanted it cooked. Chicken livers in creamy peri peri sauce with crunchy croutons came first and the red wine continued to delight, cutting through the richness of the sauce. The steak was simply presented on a warm plate, and beautifully cooked. We eat good red meat rare, and were very pleased when the steak came out properly cooked. Too many restaurants seem to over cook their steak when ordered rare, but not here at Hussars. And, this was our second visit, previously also having a perfectly cooked steak. The fat was nicely rendered, will grill flavours came through on the tender and tasty sirloin steak that we ordered. Dessert finally followed, and somewhere in there we had an extra glass of wine, necessitated by the wonderful pace of the service. Slow enough that we could enjoy the ambience, sip our wine slowly and chat, but not so slow that we were looking around waiting for food to arrive. I guess what helped the service speed was the attentiveness of our waiting team, occasionly being asked how everything was going, and whether or not we were ready for the next course. Again, we were impressed by this desire to ensure our needs were met - neither rushed because the restaurant wanted to free up our seats for the next group, nor delayed due possibly to a busy or inefficient kitchen. Whatever the reasons, we were watchful and attentive to the processes of the restaurant ourselves, and everything seemed to be handled perfectly. It was lovely to meet the manager Jason, and provide final thanks to him directly. My wife and I are only visiting Cape Town for a short while, and to have positive and memorable experiences such as we had at Hussars Grill GrandWest, is delightful. Five stars for everything!

Hussar Grill date night 2-course meal special. Excellent food and the staff was very accommodating with the last minute reservation. I enjoyed the food but the portions was a bit less than what I expected from the previous Wikideals voucher. But overall, the food was excellent.

What we liked best about the Hussar Grill is that even on a Friday night at GrandWest, there was some peaceful relaxation here and it is a great place to find some calm. The service is super sharp and discreet. There’s no drama at all and the staff make it seem as if they are well-versed with unobtrusive service: that was appreciated. Certainly, this venue isn’t for the young loud crowd so it serves as a great escape in an environment that can get quite loud.

What a great spoil! I enjoyed a wonderfully done medium rare fillet steak that was one of the best tasting foods I have ever had! Not only that they spoiled us with a small starter and amazing chocolate vodka drink at the end, on the house! Wonderful taste sensation and great service! I couldn't have enjoyed it more, and I can highly recommend the carpetbagger steak to anyone wondering what to have.

Me and hubby shared our anniversary at HussalGrill and was it made special. My first time there and they got a customer for life. Food was great and the service was excellent.

My family and i would like to thank all the staff from the General Manager to the floor manager, waitrons and chef! My mom turned 90 and wanted us to take her to the Casino to play the slots as part of her birthday celebration. I booked the Hussar Grill for an early dinner. They totally went out of their way to give us a super spot and table! I booked a booth but instead of 6 there were 7 of us and they thought we would be cramped. Eventually they carried in their only round table and set it up in a super section of the restaurant and placed wine barrels on both sides of the table to display our balloons and birthday cake which we were allowed to bring. It was the Managers daughter and wife’s birthday on the same day - 7th July and he was going off to share the evening with them but still took the time to make it so special for us! I hope they had as great a tome as we did! We were also given a complementary 1.5l bottle of red wine for the celebration which was totally unexpected and a vert kind gesture. Thank you so very much! The service was exceptional from start to finish and the steaks were delicious! You contributed so much in making moms 90th bday celebration special💐🎂

Nothing better than sharing a few steaks in a cosy section, surrounded by books, food, and family. Love how authentic everyone is working there. Especially under the abusive patrons which end up there after they have lost all their money gambling (taking their losses out on the extremely professional, friendly and down to earth staff. The environment is tangible with comfort and ease, until the gambling losers pitch up to moan about every little thing, disrespecting the high quality of the place and people, all because of actions they willing took. So, I highly recommend that the happier patrons, give Hussar Grill Grand West, a solid... Albeit, mutual, try. As a socially anxious as I was in crowds, my anciety was no where to be seen....

Wonderful experience. Really recommend booking in advance. Service was good. Place was packed. Food was amazing. I would come again all day.

The atmosphere and service was great. For a great steak definitely do visit. On our table we had Calamari, chicken livers, bone marrow, sirloin steak and hake. Everything tasted great. They have a good wine selection aswell.

Had my wifes Birthday supper there last night and that place exceeded my expectation...their food were amazing and loved every meal we ordered...when they post pictures when advertising it looks like it and taste way better then what they say it is...the staff is very professional and served us as a family very well and made us feel at home...i will recommend that place to anyone and will definitely go back there.

On arrival the grillroom was quite busy, considering it was Saturday night. We were assisted and offered a seat at the bar to wait for an available table. Once seated the waiter was attentive and the meal ordered arrived within minutes of ordering. The only growth point for future reference is that the meal was quite salty - it's always better to add and not possible to take away the saltiness. Generally a lovely experience on the whole, with great ambience and efficient service staff. Thank you

I have been a number of times because I like the fillet but on every occasion something goes wrong. The food comes to you cold especially if they are busy, or the main meal comes before the starter, the drinks take forever to come and to catch your waiter is impossible and if you ask another waitor for drinks they just don't come. They are friendly when you arrive and when they bring the bill but in between you can forget it. We had lunch there yesterday 15 July. We didn't book but were eventually accommodated on 2 tables with the youngsters on one table and my 2 sisters and I across the isle from them. We ordered drinks and eventually starters which came on our table but not the other and then when we completed ours the others came. One table got complementary chips but the other not. When the mains came the waitor was more concerned about lighting the steak but did not bring the vegetables and the rest of our food came out slowly. When it arrived our plates were cold and the food was warm. My chips were cold which l sent back, my sister's oven baked veges were off and sent back and my sister who had the lit up steak never got her veges. In fact we had all finished our food and my nephewbwas wa The manage came round once to say hello at the beginning and even them proceeded to tell us he stated going grey at 16. Quite frankly we care not interested in that. He should have asked us if we were happy and enjoying our meal.

My husband and I went there yesterday afternoon for lunch. I felt that the place was a bit too dark. It felt like I was in a cinema. It was our first time there. The waiter brought a bowl with olives, which I hate and some crisps but it was cold and not crispy anymore. I was disappointed when I wanted to order calamari, they were out of stock, so I had to order something else which I was happy with but which cost much more and only filled half of my stomach. I then decided not to have dessert but leave after the meal. I dont think I would go back there because of the little food you get for your money. Its good, but not filling.

After seeing a show at Grand West on Thursday 8 February 2018 we went to the Hussar Grill for a meal at 22h35 (we'd been there before the show for a drink and had enquired about the closing time and were told that it was 23h00). The place appeared to be close and in fact had "Closed" signs on the door. I beckoned one of the staff who came to the door told him about our earlier enquiry. We were invited to come inside in a very friendly and welcoming manner. We were served in an equally welcoming and friendly manner, given the normal pre-dinner Hussar "treats" and had the most wonderful meal which provided an excellent end to our evening. I can truly say that I have seldom come across such friendly and accommodating staff.Once again, 5 stars to Hussar Grill. It was far better than the show!

We used to enjoy eating at your restaurant and last night tried to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary with four very close friends there. It was their first time. We were warned that the kitchen was busy, which I didn't think was any of our problem, because if you can only manage five tables, then don't try fifty or more. Our food was as expected, except that one of our guests received the arsehole of some cow, instead of steak, on complaining about this with, whom I believed the owners wife, she agreed, apologised and took it away. After the rest of us were almost done, here comes a new steak, med rare and should be med well, off it goes again, then about twenty minutes later, the rest of us done eating, I, embarrassed as can be, had to go look for someone, found this woman, complained, to get the answer... What do you ecpect me to do, with attitude.... What I expect you to do is to prioritise to correct the incompetent kitchen's mistake!!!!!! Then the owner came, also not helpful, we cancelled the order, was bribed with free drinks, which we did not accept. We will never never ever visit or recommend your establishment to anybody. Also lodged a complaint on Sun International web page. My advise to the owners, if you cannot cope or meet the standard of an established franchise, rather open a take away somewhere else.

What a gem of a place. Beautiful décor, friendly, fast and professional service. The food is just absolutely delicious in presentation and flavour - not to mention the cocktails. If you're a lover of steaks, this is a must-try spot.

What a disappointing visit to to Hussar Grill this past Sunday. We have eaten at your establishment previously, but never before have we received such horrid service. I had made a 13h00 reservation, as we would be attending a show at 14h30 for 15h00. All our guests arrived, amongst which were a couple who had just moved down from Jhb and who were eager for a taste of the mother city. We ordered our drinks, no problems there, after 13h00 we placed our lunch orders. After 14h00 we were advised that somehow the order had only reached the kitchen at 2pm,but that the order was on the way out within the next 10 mins. Willing to cut into our show time a bit, as we were ravenous we waited. When we enquired with our waitress regarding the long wait, her response : THIS time it was not my fault (how reassuring). To cut a long story short, your manager Reno could not give us a satisfactory explanation for why this happened and at roughly 14h40 we left, HUNGRY, HUMILIATED. Our guests from Jhb made to eat burger King at their seats in the arena when we had in fact come out to enjoy a lovely meal. Reno scrapped our drinks bill and eventually offered that we could come back after the show and he could see what he could do. Needless to say, we declined. No point in wasting any more of our time, and instead opted for dinner at a different steak house. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Your staff need to be trained in customer service, and not string patrons along with promises of "the food will be here in 10 mins".

Waited nearly an hour for our food. Waiter and manager kept telling us “2 minutes” while we waited (which is why we waited). Had to eventually leave because the show we booked to see was starting. Had to go hungry. Date night (which I never get to do because of kids) was ruined. Will never go back!!!

I was proposed there best service from chefs to management not talking about waiters and waitresses it was my second time yesterday for supper was still impressed.

First time for the 4 of us that went. We didn't wait long for our food and the steaks were all done the way we wanted it. Waitress was friendly and the other staff too. Overall a good experience. Will come back again.

Ordered the calamari did not enjoy. Very dry. Best part about dinner was the side of butternut. Guess you should stick to meat at a place like this.

I had lunch with my son at Hussar Grill yesterday. I enjoyed the crisps that gets served beforehand. For starters we had the mussels, which was OK. A bit small and could do with a bit more cream, but it was tasty enough. We then had the rump steak medium-rare, which was quite delicious. For desert, my son had the creme brulee, which was OK, and I had the ice cream with marshmallows, nuts, honeycombe etc. I didn't like the hard bits of nougat, but the honeycombe was nice, bur a bit few and far between. To end, I just had to have the vodka martini, which came highly recommended. Its a warm chocolate drink, with quite a strong alcohol presence.. Overall, I had a good afternoon at Hussar Grill, and will recommend u pay it a visit. Service was awesome.

Worth the money and time to visit. My wife and I truly enjoyed ourselves and will return in a heart beat. Waitress (Sia) is very knowledgeable,friendly inclusive of the management.

Average experience, must say not the best steak I ever tastes, there were no complimentary snacks as before, service was attentive, but food average, the chicken roulade with mushrooms sauce was very dry, the mash was lumpy, steak had to return it, was not cooked to my liking, waiter replaced it with a medium steak... All in all an average experience...

Unfortunately this meal just did not live up to the hype. Had the calamari starter and my son had the bowl of biltong as a starter. The calamari was seasoned beautifully but some pieces were still drenched in oil. The biltong was good but I prefer it with a bit more spice.<br/><br/>We then ordered a 500g rump steak to share. It didn't take long to arrive and was cooked to a perfect medium. The steak was tender but lacked that beefy flavour one expects from an aged steak. It tasted almost as if it had been frozen. The chips were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just the way I like it. We washed these down with a lemon iced tea and sparkling water.<br/><br/>We had an attentive waitress who was friendly and efficient. The complimentary sweet potato chips and olives drizzled with a garlic olive oil was a nice touch. Popped in here for some coffee and dessert to share and like everything else on their menu, it was exquisite.<br/><br/>Three of us shared a crème brûlée with ice cream and it was divine. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff was extremely courteous. Will have to return for a proper dining out<br/>.

This is my second time trying the Hussar Grill franchise. My first experience was subpar but I must say that my opinion has changed...the service was really good considering that they were short staff today. The Hussar Grill at grandwest is more spacious than the one in Rondebosch. Our waiter, Callington was very attentive and friendly. My only critque is, our steaks could have been grilled a few minutes longer as it was abit too pink for our likely. Kyle Trotter

First ever visit to the Hussar Grill was pleasant .The staff is friendly without being overbearing and the service was attentive and excellent .Our food was delicious and the portion sizes are huge .Will definitely recommend it to everyone .

The service was really good. Love the free snack they bring you. Ordered the chicken burger which was good. Friend ordered the shank which he said was dry. Would definitely go back again as it's got good service and a good atmosphere.

Food didn't come at the same time. The first meals that were delivered was cold and not cooked as ordered. Had to be sent back again due to being undercooked. Will definitely not see me again.

This franchise doesn't live up to the standard of the one in Somerset West unfortunately. The steak wasn't as nice which is the main reason why I go to Hussar. Besides from that, we had a really cool waiter who was full of banter which I enjoyed.

I have reported the bad customer service on Hello Peter. The Hostess was terrible and quite judgemental. The manager was all over the place, making his frustration known about how annoyed he was when he saw a dirty table. Bill was incorrect. Seated us behind a door where everyone walked against. Made us wait when there were tables available. No apologies. No came to ask if anything was okay. Only certain people got the complimentary goodies. Not us. Please read my post on Hello Peter. It explains everything. Worst place ever.

Only went there for a dessert but was amazing and satisfied my craving. Was amazing and friendly staff and very willing to go back. I had a chocolate fondant and my friend had the creme brulee and both were amazing dishes. Just make sure you plan for spending a little bit extra. However you are spending for quality and definitely worth it.

My spouse and l dont know when last we enjoyed such a perfect scrumptious succulent fillet steak. It was absolutely magnificent.<br/>I enjoyed a 300g with a bearnaise sauce, my spouse chose a blue cheese sauce. She had delicious mash. I chose not to have any trimmings.<br/>As discerning carnivores it is still melting in our mouths.<br/>Service and presentation was as good.<br/>Most definitely the best steak in town.

5 stars doesn't seem efficient to describe the evening we spent at Hussar Grill.<br/>Probably one of THE BEST evenings out I've had!! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary at Hussar Grill and we were SO impressed. Best service, really, I'm not over exaggerating!! The food was incredible, the softest steak I've tasted in a while and the best mussel pot! We were spoiled by the manager with a complimentary dessert; a Belgium chocolate and Vodka drink, their speciality (and I DEFINITELY know why!!!) You will most definitely see us again, really really outstanding service, food, ambience and experience! Believe me, the extra money spent, is most definitely worth it!

Booked an amazing show and decided to start the evening by ordering the sirloin and rump steak medium rare, when the food eventually arrived the steak was not only overdone but of poor quality.

Very good service and the food is excellent, I'll be coming here again soon! My fiancé is very fussy when it comes to food and he had no complaints.

Lets start by 4 Steaks- All <br/>4 prepared wrong<br/>4 tasteless<br/>4kof!<br/>Steak tasted as if it had been "aged in the freezer" and defrosted in the microwave.<br/><br/>The extra sauce on the on the side also the most vile thing ever tasted. A terrible tasting added expense which our neighbouring dinners also complained about.<br/>Nothing really going decor though busy, its dated and not interesting to peruse unless you 80yr and enjoy Clint Eastwood movies where his in a western saloon. <br/>Service was average experience below.

After recently visiting another Hussar Grill I wouldn't have chosen to eat here so quickly again, but joined friends for a special dinner. This time round my steak was done perfectly so I was happy. One small thing was that I found there to be very little sauce, but I still enjoyed my meal. Our waiter was great and the evening very enjoyable. We took a chance and requested if they served cocktails, and they do for those interested :)

By far the slowest service I've ever experienced. Could not get my wife's order of medium correct. We waited forever for our drinks... The presentation of the main meal leaves much to be desired. Not my first, second or third choice of restaurant...

Huge Hussar Grill fan, so when I am able to find one close to wherever I might be then I'll definitely make the effort to pop in for a nice game steak and glass of red wine. This one, I've been to quite the few around Cape Town, has a very different vibe from say the one in camps bay. The food was of course top notch as it always is but the ambience was of a quite stifling manner and it did not help that our waiter barely smiled. He was very attentive but it was a tad unnerving. But hey maybe he wasn't having a good day that day? Go check it out and see if you have a livelier wait staff

A great place with amazing warthog ribs that just slides of the bone . It is definitely one of my favorites dishes at the restaurant and tastes amazing 👍🏼

Visited this restaurant last night and was really disgusted and dissapointed with the crap service of this restaurant. It wasn't even busy yet we waited forever for the 2nd round of drinks that never came. Got our order wrong twice and brought it in parts. You would think such a high class "looking" restaurant's service would be much better!?!?

We came here for my mother's birthday, sadly the waiter was so arrogant and made us feel unwelcome. When we had a complaint about a beer he almost insisted we were wrong. We ordered a starter portion of calamari and it costed R60 with no more than 5 pieces on the plate. Our waiter forgot we ordered a portion of creamed spinach and butternut and when he eventually brought it, it was so piping hot we couldn't enjoy it with our meal because we actually had to wait for it to cool down. This was my first time at a Hussar Grill and it didn't impress me at all. However, I think it was the manager/owner (a older white gentleman) who checked on us regularly which was really great.

This branch of The Hussar grill is fantastic! Its so spacious and creates this sophisticated atmosphere because of the really high ceiling and the old school elegance. Food is just as good! They do a seriously mean Madagascan Pepper Fillet and the Lamb chops are great too. Great spot for a date night.

Food was excellent as well as the service the place is quite dark which i liked. They have great selection of wines too. I had lamb shank which was out of this world.

The Restuarant is dark which takes on the character of the place. The service we experienced was Fantastic. We didn't wait long for anything. Drinks was topped up as emptied and food arrived fast. Good itself was excellent. I felt that I got what I paid for. Great food and great service.

The Hussar grill in Goodwood is by far the best one I've been too. Their service was excellent, the waiters are very well trained. They weren't that busy so our food arrived quickly, for my starter I had calamari which was very tasty. I then settled for a medium rare 300g sirloin steak and vegetables with chips. My steak was cooked to perfection thanks to the chef. The food was amazing, I really enjoyed my meal. Will definitely go back in future

Absolutely enjoyed my dinner date at Hussar Grill Grandwest! We got there late, but luckily their kitchen closes at 10. (My date, from PE was pleasantly surprised). We ordered a delicious bottle of red wine, and the most amazing lamb shanks! The meat was soft and tender, just falling off the bone. The mash was perfectly fluffy, and the gravy was really tasty! We had a portion of roast veg(as we didnt want "spur veggies"), which was roasted to absolute perfection! Im not even being dramatic! The portion was huge, we didn't have space for dessert...we could barely finish the meal. The service was lovely, our waitress was funny and engaging. Really lovely!!

I have been to this Branch twice now and to be honest, not that impressive, the service was slow both times we went and the food was pretty average...<br/><br/>The last time we went for my Father in law's birthday he ordered a medium steak it arrived and was practically still alive, myself and my Husband's steaks both arrive cold in fact my Husband's steak was basically still frozen in the middle, however the floor manager was at our table within a minute of our steaks being sent back to apologize and get new ones out and we had our orders out fresh within 10 Minutes and it was Perfect. On requesting the bill the manger then arrived with 3 Complimentary dessert, the Chocolate Vodka Martini and WOW now THAT was amazing! <br/><br/>All and all I was really impressed with the service we got once we complained and how sufficient and quick they were to correct it.<br/><br/>I will definitely be back there for a Yummy Chocolate Martini  :)

i found the food okay, but the restaurant was dark and i feel as if the waiter didnt want us their. i was their with tiyaarah's family and hadnt been this side of grandwest before - we had fun but i wouldn't say it was because of the restaurant

We went for dinner on Sunday evening with 16 guests <br/>Three of us had kingklip which was like rubber. When we complained all they said was that they use frozen fish and that's the reason for its texture. They should not have had this on the menu if it does not match up to standard and it's expensive price. The lamb cutlets also had more fat than meat. Only the steaks were good. Service was terrible. <br/>Nothing beats the old squires grill team

Had dinner at the Hussar Grill tonight . Ordered a 200g steak ,steamed potatoes and a side of roast vegetables. The steak was cooked to perfection and it went well with the sides. There were a few problems with the other meals however and service was a bit slow. Great steak but not much else.

The hussar grill, (we enquired is halal friendly). It was a decent experience their fries reminded me of the steakhouse fries at woolworths which was enjoyable. The steak was okay, not as amazing as I thought it would be, not badly priced though. The waiter we had sucked though, he wasn't attentive or helpful. It seemed like all he wanted was for us to leave. Besides that, it was an okay lunch.

Awesome that Hussar have taken over the Squires spot not much of a difference with the interior but Great service. Good food. Will definitely be back.

Most shocking service ever. Had to wait 30min to get our drinks. The table snacks we had to ask for. We had 2 waiters, no one looked like they wanted to help us. I will not recommend this place to any one. Food was also such a disappointment, pay so much for so little food. Crap crap crap. Can't believe I waisted my time and money on this place.

As always, the steaks (Rump and fillet) and sauces (mushroom and moutarde) were sublime. You really can't fault this franchise on consistency. Particularly impressive was the stir fry side. We don't eat starch so it's always good to find an alternative that doesn't entail sugary butternut and stodgy spinach. The veg selection was well selected and done to a perfect Al dente. The only let down was the service. Unfortunately we had to ask for the olive and sweet potato fries that are usually presented on being seated. We went to the Hussar Grill for an early dinner before a show at Grand West, and had a very good experience. We enjoyed the hogback ribs and carpetbagger steak that we ordered - both extremely tender, and were especially impressed with the additional veggies we got for a mere R20 extra. Service was good and the decor gave the place a really authentic feel. A great stop for a special night out.

Had a divine lunch here. My partner had the fillet steak which was perfect and a delicious mushroom sauce. I went for the calamari and it was simply delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoy every minute of it
