Had my wifes Birthday supper there last night and that place exceeded my expectation...their food were amazing and loved every meal we ordered...when they post pictures when advertising it looks like it and taste way better then what they say it is...the staff is very professional and served us as a family very well and made us feel at home...i will recommend that place to anyone and will definitely go back there.
After seeing a show at Grand West on Thursday 8 February 2018 we went to the Hussar Grill for a meal at 22h35 (we'd been there before the show for a drink and had enquired about the closing time and were told that it was 23h00). The place appeared to be close and in fact had "Closed" signs on the door. I beckoned one of the staff who came to the door told him about our earlier enquiry. We were invited to come inside in a very friendly and welcoming manner. We were served in an equally welcoming and friendly manner, given the normal pre-dinner Hussar "treats" and had the most wonderful meal which provided an excellent end to our evening. I can truly say that I have seldom come across such friendly and accommodating staff.Once again, 5 stars to Hussar Grill. It was far better than the show!
I had lunch with my son at Hussar Grill yesterday. I enjoyed the crisps that gets served beforehand. For starters we had the mussels, which was OK. A bit small and could do with a bit more cream, but it was tasty enough. We then had the rump steak medium-rare, which was quite delicious. For desert, my son had the creme brulee, which was OK, and I had the ice cream with marshmallows, nuts, honeycombe etc. I didn't like the hard bits of nougat, but the honeycombe was nice, bur a bit few and far between. To end, I just had to have the vodka martini, which came highly recommended. Its a warm chocolate drink, with quite a strong alcohol presence.. Overall, I had a good afternoon at Hussar Grill, and will recommend u pay it a visit. Service was awesome.
Worth the money and time to visit. My wife and I truly enjoyed ourselves and will return in a heart beat. Waitress (Sia) is very knowledgeable,friendly inclusive of the management.

Good food, nice atmosphere.
Have Always have a good experience at this and other branches. Craft beer and decent steak and sides. Can be pricey though, but a dining experience for special occasions.
Popped in here for some coffee and dessert to share and like everything else on their menu, it was exquisite.
Three of us shared a crème brûlée with ice cream and it was divine. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff was extremely courteous. Will have to return for a proper dining out

This is my second time trying the Hussar Grill franchise. My first experience was subpar but I must say that my opinion has changed...the service was really good considering that they were short staff today. The Hussar Grill at grandwest is more spacious than the one in Rondebosch. Our waiter, Callington was very attentive and friendly. My only critque is, our steaks could have been grilled a few minutes longer as it was abit too pink for our likely. Kyle Trotter
First ever visit to the Hussar Grill was pleasant .The staff is friendly without being overbearing and the service was attentive and excellent .Our food was delicious and the portion sizes are huge .Will definitely recommend it to everyone .
The service was really good. Love the free snack they bring you. Ordered the chicken burger which was good. Friend ordered the shank which he said was dry. Would definitely go back again as it's got good service and a good atmosphere.
Only went there for a dessert but was amazing and satisfied my craving. Was amazing and friendly staff and very willing to go back. I had a chocolate fondant and my friend had the creme brulee and both were amazing dishes. Just make sure you plan for spending a little bit extra. However you are spending for quality and definitely worth it.
My spouse and l dont know when last we enjoyed such a perfect scrumptious succulent fillet steak. It was absolutely magnificent.
I enjoyed a 300g with a bearnaise sauce, my spouse chose a blue cheese sauce. She had delicious mash. I chose not to have any trimmings.
As discerning carnivores it is still melting in our mouths.
Service and presentation was as good.

Great service from the waiter Keith who took care of us from the beginning until the end of the dinner. Delicious chicken livers but quite spicy. Main course we choose ostrich fillet and kudu with a side of garlic baby potatoes and cinnamon butternut and creamy spinach. Good vibes and nice location. We loved it thank you so much for the beautiful experience!!!

We had a wonderful "Date Night", and are glad we booked in advance. We were greeted by name at the door by manager Jason, and taken to our cosy, comfortable booth in the tastefully decorated restaurant. Soft lighting, nice music played at a volume that still allowed for good conversation, and decor that was calming and initimate.
We were very relaxed when the food arrived, initially some garlic olives and thinly slices fried potato. This went well with the Hussars 50th anniversary bottle of red wine that was a part of the date night special menu.
Our waitresses were lovely and patient with us, offering a broad range of choices to accompany the three course meal. Attention to detail was perfect, working through a list of entree, main and dessert choices, then the side dish of preference, cut of steak and how we wanted it cooked.
Chicken livers in creamy peri peri sauce with crunchy croutons came first and the red wine continued to delight, cutting through the richness of the sauce.
The steak was simply presented on a warm plate, and beautifully cooked. We eat good red meat rare, and were very pleased when the steak came out properly cooked. Too many restaurants seem to over cook their steak when ordered rare, but not here at Hussars. And, this was our second visit, previously also having a perfectly cooked steak. The fat was nicely rendered, will grill flavours came through on the tender and tasty sirloin steak that we ordered.
Dessert finally followed, and somewhere in there we had an extra glass of wine, necessitated by the wonderful pace of the service. Slow enough that we could enjoy the ambience, sip our wine slowly and chat, but not so slow that we were looking around waiting for food to arrive.
I guess what helped the service speed was the attentiveness of our waiting team, occasionly being asked how everything was going, and whether or not we were ready for the next course.
Again, we were impressed by this desire to ensure our needs were met - neither rushed because the restaurant wanted to free up our seats for the next group, nor delayed due possibly to a busy or inefficient kitchen. Whatever the reasons, we were watchful and attentive to the processes of the restaurant ourselves, and everything seemed to be handled perfectly.
It was lovely to meet the manager Jason, and provide final thanks to him directly. My wife and I are only visiting Cape Town for a short while, and to have positive and memorable experiences such as we had at Hussars Grill GrandWest, is delightful.

Hussar Grill date night 2-course meal special. Excellent food and the staff was very accommodating with the last minute reservation. I enjoyed the food but the portions was a bit less than what I expected from the previous Wikideals voucher. But overall, the food was excellent.
What we liked best about the Hussar Grill is that even on a Friday night at GrandWest, there was some peaceful relaxation here and it is a great place to find some calm.
The service is super sharp and discreet. There’s no drama at all and the staff make it seem as if they are well-versed with unobtrusive service: that was appreciated.
Certainly, this venue isn’t for the young loud crowd so it serves as a great escape in an environment that can get quite loud.

I enjoyed a wonderfully done medium rare fillet steak that was one of the best tasting foods I have ever had!
Not only that they spoiled us with a small starter and amazing chocolate vodka drink at the end, on the house!

Me and hubby shared our anniversary at HussalGrill and was it made special. My first time there and they got a customer for life. Food was great and the service was excellent.

My family and i would like to thank all the staff from the General Manager to the floor manager, waitrons and chef! My mom turned 90 and wanted us to take her to the Casino to play the slots as part of her birthday celebration. I booked the Hussar Grill for an early dinner. They totally went out of their way to give us a super spot and table! I booked a booth but instead of 6 there were 7 of us and they thought we would be cramped. Eventually they carried in their only round table and set it up in a super section of the restaurant and placed wine barrels on both sides of
the table to display our balloons and birthday cake which we were allowed to bring. It was the Managers daughter and wife’s birthday on the same day - 7th July and he was going off to share the evening with them but still took the time to make it so special for us! I hope they had as great a tome as we did! We were also given a complementary 1.5l bottle of red wine for the celebration which was totally unexpected and a vert kind gesture. Thank you so very much! The service was exceptional from start to finish and the steaks were delicious! You contributed so much in making moms 90th bday celebration special💐🎂
