First time in a while visiting The French Connection Bistro again. Glad to see all the international visitors. Food was of good quality and variety. Waitress service and communication skills could be improved though. Will definitely revisit soon.
Most restaurants I’ve been to that use paper tablecloths have incredible food and this place lived up to that experience.
We had a super tasty dinner here. Especially loved the kudu stroganoff which was bursting with flavour and perfectly tender. The seared tuna special was also delightful, clearly made with high quality tuna.
The atmosphere was relaxed and lively with a rustic touch.
What a great experience. Weather was perfect for a Winters day
Food was excellent
Service was excellent
We couldn't find fault with anything
Overall amazing experience for a Sunday lunch
Last evening showing a Canadian family member the beauty of our Peninsula, we chanced upon The French Connection and were fortunate to be given a table at short notice. What an amazing restaurant! I was blown away from the delightfully refreshing Pimms and ginger ale to every sumptuous dish that was placed before us. It was impossible to choose "dish of the day". Each plate (generous portions) was a beautifully presented feast of aroma and explosion of flavour. The professional and friendly staff add greatly to the general relaxed ambience. In short. Calamari tubes could never taste the same again ☺️ Will definitely return.
We ate here on consecutive evenings as it was pretty much the only place open after bad s
torm damage. I'm so glad they had a generator. Staff were lovely, atmosphere surprisingly upbeat and the food very good. The menu is fairly meat heavy (no surprise given the name) but there are fish, vegetarian and vegan options too. Tempura prawns were especially good as was the fish special.
The French Connection Bistro is such a charming place. The place lives up to the name bistro, small, intimate and the French Connection is most definitely there. Bringing me to the menu. The menu is disconnected to the French Connection, and could be a standard menu at any mediocre estate restaurant. The food was delicious, however also said modest. I think owners and management need to revisit the menu and bring the connection back to a small French home-style cooked bistro. Will most definitely visit again.
The (affordable) French Connection is a lovely bistro-style restaurant with welcoming atmosphere - we were four and each ordered something different. It all came to the table effortlessly. And the wine only added to the experience. It was one of those meals you remember for a lifetime ... thank you.
A lovely lunchtime experience in a delightful atmosphere. Small (and large) touches add to the ambience and help the restaurant live up to its name. The main room, the various nooks and crannies, and the veranda mean one can choose the setting that suits the mood.
Nothing to complain about. If you're looking for a good breakfast, French Connection is one of many good options in Franschhoek.
(No clothing or car chases here though 😉).
Our tour bus of 12 stopped for lunch between visits to wineries. All the food that was ordered was fresh and delicious. I had the chicken salad with beets and avocados. It was very good although onions and tomatoes would have made it perfect! Our server was happy to give separate checks which was swiftly accomplished! The bathrooms were designated with a hen and rooster and were very clean. There was a fireplace burning wood which added ambiance.
