Review Leopard's Leap Rotisserie Restaurant - Franschhoek

What an awesome family friendly wine farm. The kids got to play outside while we could have a good time. Great food options with a buffet as well. Lots of tables inside and outside and place to sit on grass outside. There is a little water flow for kids to have fun without parents having to worry. There is also a slide and climbing options! They have a really great hike track for the kids to enjoy!

What can I say about Leopard's Leap. Words won't do this gem justice! What a fantastic wine farm and restaurant. The food was excellent and the wine was great! Deserts was fabulous. Thank you for the great service and experience

Leopard's Leap was our final stop in Franschhoek for the day for a late lunch/early dinner. For lunch you can order pizza or chose meat and go to the sides bar. At the sides bar you pay by the 100g of weight of what you put on your plate. Then go get your meet and enjoy. If you have small children they have an outdoor play area that keeps the young entertained while the adults eat and have a drink or two. After some time had passed we walked the grounds, through the lemon trees and rows of dormant grapes. Overall a good final winery visit for the day.

Leopard’s Leap is easily one of the most family- and group-oriented wineries in the region. The restaurant is huge, has an elaborate playground outside and a creative menu with something for everyone. The shop selling local produce and crafts was also a highlight.

Went for a wine tasting here, and noticed the restaurant was packed.. So if your want to eat here, make sure you book for the restaurant. The wine tasting was quite good. Had a large selection of wines to choose from for your 6 wines. Would go again to try the other wines.

Had a really lovely breakfast , the wine tasting was also good... worth a visit

Fine wine. Too bad the kitchen was closed and there wasn't even a piece of bread for the wine tasting. We hope this will be different during the warmer season.

We had a wonderful time at Leopards Leap. We had a great wine tasting presented by Luyando. He was very professional and served us well, his knowledge of the wine range is superb. You guys have a gem! Great architecture. Great ambiance. Real treat. I will definitely be back.

Beautiful venue!!! The food was absolutely devine, we had lamb's neck with red wine sauce and variety of salads to choose from. The flavours on our plate was out of this world!!! Worth every penny! Will definitely be back, save Leopard's Peak under your wishlist*****

We were very excited to visit this wine farm restaurant on the wine tram route. A light airy modern feel but disappointingly not all the salads were available during the week. What was available was tasty. Pity bread has to be weighed as well. The meat options were very disappointing and unhealthy looking! Looked like leftovers. Apparently weekends there are more healthy options. Will need to give it a second chance one weekend. Definitely NOT cheap! Carrot cake way too citrus and not worth R65!

Beautifil setting. Friendly staff. Good food. Ambiance. Open space with very large window make you part of nature. Pumpkin fritters a favourite! Salad bar with good choices.

We stopped at the beautiful Leopards Leap for a bite to eat while out in Franschhoek, the rotisserie and starters/salads tables had a diverse offering that would appease any palate. A group of 3 with varying tastes we had the roast chicken, lamb pie and roast pork which were all quite good. Well worth a stop if in the area.

Did you know that a group of leopards is called a leap? A useless fact that I enjoyed learning this past week on our visit here.

Location, location, location.. Leopard's Leap Family Vineyards has it all.

Beautiful views of the vineyards and garden walks- tick!
Stunning upmarket interiors- tick!
Comprehensive wine tastings in their modern tasting room- tick!
A popular rotisserie-style restaurant that makes use of a state-of-the-art Rotisol spit manned by Chef Pieter de Jager- tick!

The food:
Harvest tables are a really sociable way of eating that I love because they encourage a family-style meal and they are rare on this wine route. This harvest table, however, is no meagre offering with their Rotisol spit meats, seasonal salads and roasted vegetables (sourced on the farm), farm-baked breads, pastries with several desserts to boot. You are certainly never going to leave hungry!

The wines:
Leopard's Leap boasts four distinct Collections made up of:
1. Culinaria (available exclusively at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards),
2. Family (which is limited and has gained the Cellarmaster's special endorsement),
3. Classic (made up of just about something for absolutely everyone including Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay Unwooded, Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot) and
4. Lookout (their newer entry-level range of wines).

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this gem, and I would definitely return!

*Recommendation: I can recommend Leopard's Leap as offering a more upmarket family-orientated vineyard experience on the Wine Route, that has something for everyone and hopefully the photos attached below will speak for themselves!

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

We had lunch here with a really large group - 34 people, and it was fantastic. The rotisserie lunch was great and all of the salads were really yummy. The kids had s great time as there is a play area and huge lawn outside for them to run around. Would definitely recommend it to others - staff were very friendly and helpful too!!

We stopped here as It looked like a nice place to have a wine. It had a nice feel and was decorated nicely. The server was nice and friendly. We were presented with a really good wine menu and we enjoyed our selections

Delicious meat with a delicious selection of sides and something for everyone. We did the tasting 1st which definitely helped with picking what to drink when we sat down. The sides are all cold while the meat is warm and the pork belly was delicious. Couldn't fault a thing

The food was delicious. I loved all the roasts and the sides were great! I especially enjoyed the sweet potato with caramel and the green beans salad. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The desserts were a bit of a hit and a miss. I loved the tiramisu and the churros but the brownie was too hard and dark. It needs to be served with cream or ice-cream to alleviate the heaviness of the dark chocolate.

Very modern but welcoming restaurant with a lovely view. Tasty food. Absolutely enjoyed my experience here. A kitchen run by a great chef. Friendly staff and good wine. Will be back.

Leopard’s Leap is different from the usual wine estate offering. As you walk in you are greeted with a beautiful, airy tasting room with a light modern design. A striking large tasting counter is the first thing that grabs your attention.

We started off with a blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. It's crisp with tropical fruit flavours and an easy-drinking light-bodied wine. Leopard's Leap Semi Sweet is a delicious and interesting blend of Chenin Blanc and Muscat. A medium white wine that will seduce the sweeter palate.

Pinotage Rosé tastes like candy floss and raspberry. It is crisp yet dry and elegant but can be enjoyed with all types of food. Next is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The berry flavours mixed with the spiciness of the Shiraz makes for an interesting palate. Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh, zesty aftertaste with aromas of passion fruit.

Chardonnay is renowned for being one of the most versatile food wines. Their unwooded Chardonnay has elegant fruit aromas of pear and lime and is beautifully balanced with a biscuit aftertaste. Chenin Blanc has an interesting combination of herbal and fruit aromas with a dry, lingering finish. The Chardonnay Pinot Noir is well-defined with fruity flavours and is a flexible wine in food and wine pairings.

What makes Leopard's Leap different is that there is a cooking school which offers hands on cooking classes or cooking demonstrations for groups of people. Situated in the stunning Franschhoek Valley with beautiful views from the glass windows that line the restaurant, this is the perfect space for a family lunch outing.

We went here for the buffet, it was nice, but not the best I have had. Also when we had dessert we noticed the peppermint crisp looked odd... turns out it was moulded! The manager immediately took the remainder of the peppermint crisp tarts off the shelves and offered us another dessert, but after that I kept wondering how old some of the other items were. Beautiful place, but just not sure if I would return any time soon.

Exceptionally accommodating and attentive waiters. The restaurant is atmospheric, with a stunning view of the vineyards. The Rotisserie had a tasty selection of salads, sides and meats. Lamb that comes straight off the bone and fresh vegetables that are delicately seasoned to highlight the natural flavours.

This place is great for an affordable home cooked meal in a very pretty establishment in Franschhoek. Huge space and lots of staff and food, I can see how one can get stuck here for a few hours.

The wine tasting section is very disappointing. Ive been here a few years back and still not at all good. Staff cant answer delivery questions.

Excellent ! We visited for a Sunday lunch. Beautiful interior and architecture. Enjoyed the rolling video showing the farm, wine making and food preparation. It was an extremely hot day and the aircon barely coped inside, since the doors were wide openCharming and friendly staff with wonderful serviceSumptuous food, beautiful presentation of salad and side dishes. We had the rotisserie pork belly - melt in the mouth meat with crispy crackling - absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again

Was disappointed coming here. Like other larger wine farms they have lost its soul of the sake of selling wines straight after they are picked and sold as easy drinking.

We tried every wine on their extensive list and found them unmemorable.

From their Rose to the Merlot, to their Chardonnay Pino Noir (probably my favorite). They were good but not mind blowing great.

Service was ok, the young lady couldn't compute when I said I wanted to try all their wines and didn't really know a lot of the wines or the wine farms. Shame really.

They have resturant which had food where you pay by weight. I'd probably go back to try but not in any great rush.

Would I go back?!? Probably not.

After my wife and I had wonderful impromptu lunch at this restaurant over a year ago, we were so excited to return and invited our friends to come join. I must say though, the quality of the food was pretty awful this time around, I had the beef shin which was honestly 80% pure fat and the lamb neck which lacked a whole lot of flavour. For the amount of money you're paying for a meal (roughly R200) you just expect more. Sadly, disappointed.

Harvest table excellent!! A big variety, and it tasted so good and the fact it is good food for the body. I had the pork belly! Lovely crackling! Nice lunch spot.

I honestly believe it's one of the most beautiful wine estates in Franschoek. The building has modern architecture, using charcoal shades and wooden beams to highlight and emphasise the natural surroundings. A large group of us stopped by for a wine tasting, wine cocktails and the charcuterie board. Unfortunately we chose to overstay our time period which meant our Bus left without us, but the amazing staff at Leopards Leap managed to organise a Touring Bus which happily took us back to Stellenbosch. Really we cannot thank you enough and will definitely return soon for the Buffet, which looked divine.

The rotisserie lunch is great, the meats are all so well cooked and the sides full of flavour. There are so many great options for dessert it's hard not to over eat.

The views are stunning and there is plenty of space for the kids to play ( there is also a jungle gym).

Book in advance, it's highly unlikely you will get a same day reservation over a weekend

Amazing venue, very delightful with friendly staff. Food was magnificent from the wide variety of salads to the amazing and tender meats, Both pork and Beef were cooked to perfection with delightful aromas. Great place to come for the day with the kids.

We have been there on a Wine Tasting Festival which was great fun. Everyone dressed in white and you could try all different kind of wines from wineries around the area. The Dj played great music and also the venue was superb! Will def come again :)

Absolutely beautiful restaurant situated in Franschoek.

The selection of fresh salads are vast and the meats are all delicious and cooked perfectly.

Excellent setting with great service. The rotisserie lunch was fantastic! Meat was amazing. I had the roast pork belly and beef brisket. Salads were awesome with great flavours. It can work out a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it.

The absolute perfect spot for lunch filled with amazing food, wine and the view is the icing on the cake.

They have a buffet for lunch filled with lots of lovely and light options and then you can pick your meat option. I chose the chicken with the mushroom sauce. Everything was delicious. Our group's favourite were definitely the creamy potatoes, the chicken as well as the pork with apple sauce.

The wine was lovely, we had a blend of white and red wine. It was surprisingly very good and refreshing.

The service was great and the waiter was good at suggesting the wine.

I had lunch here on my birthday and it was fantastic. The vibe is really relaxed. We loved the harvest table setup and the meat was delicious. We had the pork belly and the ribs. The meat portions is really big and I would recommend that you rather take one portion and share it with another person. The wine is also lovely and so well priced. We bought a few bottles to take home. This is a good option for a Sunday family lunch

Sunday lunch is somewhat of a tradition for us and we are always looking for great new places to re-invent this age old tradition. Leopard's Leap definitely fits that criteria for us. Suitable to visit in summer or winter, this restaurant is a stunner. The food is set out buffet style, with a large variety of about fifty side dishes to choose from which is then charged according to its weight. The meat is done rotisserie style and there are usually at least three different types to choose from. We of course tried everything and it was all delicious, and we like that there is something for everyone. There is a great outside area making it kid friendly and definitely worth the drive.

Awesome food, awesome venue, awesome service, awesomely expensive prices. We went for lunch during the week and there choices were limited to 2 set options. R500 plus for a adults and 2 kids.

This is absolutely a stunning venue and restaurant. We went there for a saturday wine tasting and lunch. The food is delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. Very trendy and this place has definitely the vibe that goes with it!

Absolutely stunning restaurant! We went there for Sunday lunch a couple of months ago and we ate ourselves silly! The food is spectacular and the wine is delicious! They had about 15 different sides on their Harvest Table to accompany the meal. There were all sorts of options that made me wish I had about 4 extra stomachs just to try them all! Then came the dessert and I'm pretty sure by the time I was finished they had to roll me out of the restaurant!

Two visits, once for the Sunday lunch and another for a work function. Both times the food was divine and the wine was decent. Gorgeous location, very comfortable and a great family spot. Staff are extremely friendly. Loved the architecture. Must go again!

Amazing pork belly & oxtail and really enjoyed the buffet style veggies on offer which were delicious. A must stop when visiting Franschhoek!
Linda
Divine atmosphere, service and food. Loved the whole harvest table style and the variety of salads and vegetables to choose from , paired with your choice of meats ! lovely place for a family lunch as the reastuarant is picturesque with its lovely windows looking out on the beautiful lawns and play area for kids . A definite must visit in Franschhoek .

We had joined the wine tram experience in Franschhoek and decided to make this venue our lunch stop. We were not disappointed this is one of the better buffet meals I have had. This is a beautiful venue and one I cant wait to return to. Good value for money.

I was fortunate to spend a few days here and managed to eat my way through the roasted pork belly, the rotisserie chickens and as well as the awesome salads. I would place this on my list of favourite winelands restaurants

Such a lovely, relaxing spot! Food was great, prices very affordable and fun vibe. Highly recommended for a fun Sunday-sauvignon-lunch with friends & family :)

I recommend this restaurant to almost everyone I know. It's perfect for Sunday lunch, it's the first fresh, healthy buffet I've come across. The desserts are really cheap too, and beyond amazing
