Beautifil setting. Friendly staff. Good food. Ambiance. Open space with very large window make you part of nature. Pumpkin fritters a favourite! Salad bar with good choices.
We stopped at the beautiful Leopards Leap for a bite to eat while out in Franschhoek, the rotisserie and starters/salads tables had a diverse offering that would appease any palate. A group of 3 with varying tastes we had the roast chicken, lamb pie and roast pork which were all quite good. Well worth a stop if in the area.
Did you know that a group of leopards is called a leap? A useless fact that I enjoyed learning this past week on our visit here.
Location, location, location.. Leopard's Leap Family Vineyards has it all.
Beautiful views of the vineyards and garden walks- tick!
Stunning upmarket interiors- tick!
Comprehensive wine tastings in their modern tasting room- tick!
A popular rotisserie-style restaurant that makes use of a state-of-the-art Rotisol spit manned by Chef Pieter de Jager- tick!
The food:
Harvest tables are a really sociable way of eating that I love because they encourage a family-style meal and they are rare on this wine route. This harvest table, however, is no meagre offering with their Rotisol spit meats, seasonal salads and roasted vegetables (sourced on the farm), farm-baked breads, pastries with several desserts to boot. You are certainly never going to leave hungry!
The wines:
Leopard's Leap boasts four distinct Collections made up of:
1. Culinaria (available exclusively at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards),
2. Family (which is limited and has gained the Cellarmaster's special endorsement),
3. Classic (made up of just about something for absolutely everyone including Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay Unwooded, Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot) and
4. Lookout (their newer entry-level range of wines).
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this gem, and I would definitely return!
*Recommendation: I can recommend Leopard's Leap as offering a more upmarket family-orientated vineyard experience on the Wine Route, that has something for everyone and hopefully the photos attached below will speak for themselves!

We had lunch here with a really large group - 34 people, and it was fantastic. The rotisserie lunch was great and all of the salads were really yummy. The kids had s great time as there is a play area and huge lawn outside for them to run around. Would definitely recommend it to others - staff were very friendly and helpful too!!
We stopped here as It looked like a nice place to have a wine. It had a nice feel and was decorated nicely. The server was nice and friendly. We were presented with a really good wine menu and we enjoyed our selections
Visited for a mate's birthday. Been super awesome afternoon. Logging the wine and great afternoon hanging with friends celebrating birthdays.
Menu were exquisite as always!!!!
Delicious meat with a delicious selection of sides and something for everyone. We did the tasting 1st which definitely helped with picking what to drink when we sat down. The sides are all cold while the meat is warm and the pork belly was delicious. Couldn't fault a thing
The food was delicious. I loved all the roasts and the sides were great! I especially enjoyed the sweet potato with caramel and the green beans salad. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The desserts were a bit of a hit and a miss. I loved the tiramisu and the churros but the brownie was too hard and dark. It needs to be served with cream or ice-cream to alleviate the heaviness of the dark chocolate.
Very modern but welcoming restaurant with a lovely view. Tasty food. Absolutely enjoyed my experience here. A kitchen run by a great chef. Friendly staff and good wine. Will be back.
Leopard’s Leap is different from the usual wine estate offering. As you walk in you are greeted with a beautiful, airy tasting room with a light modern design. A striking large tasting counter is the first thing that grabs your attention.
We started off with a blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. It's crisp with tropical fruit flavours and an easy-drinking light-bodied wine. Leopard's Leap Semi Sweet is a delicious and interesting blend of Chenin Blanc and Muscat. A medium white wine that will seduce the sweeter palate.
Pinotage Rosé tastes like candy floss and raspberry. It is crisp yet dry and elegant but can be enjoyed with all types of food. Next is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The berry flavours mixed with the spiciness of the Shiraz makes for an interesting palate. Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh, zesty aftertaste with aromas of passion fruit.
Chardonnay is renowned for being one of the most versatile food wines. Their unwooded Chardonnay has elegant fruit aromas of pear and lime and is beautifully balanced with a biscuit aftertaste. Chenin Blanc has an interesting combination of herbal and fruit aromas with a dry, lingering finish. The Chardonnay Pinot Noir is well-defined with fruity flavours and is a flexible wine in food and wine pairings.
What makes Leopard's Leap different is that there is a cooking school which offers hands on cooking classes or cooking demonstrations for groups of people. Situated in the stunning Franschhoek Valley with beautiful views from the glass windows that line the restaurant, this is the perfect space for a family lunch outing.
What an awesome family friendly wine farm. The kids got to play outside while we could have a good time. Great food options with a buffet as well. Lots of tables inside and outside and place to sit on grass outside. There is a little water flow for kids to have fun without parents having to worry. There is also a slide and climbing options! They have a really great hike track for the kids to enjoy!
What can I say about Leopard's Leap. Words won't do this gem justice! What a fantastic wine farm and restaurant. The food was excellent and the wine was great! Deserts was fabulous. Thank you for the great service and experience
Leopard's Leap was our final stop in Franschhoek for the day for a late lunch/early dinner. For lunch you can order pizza or chose meat and go to the sides bar. At the sides bar you pay by the 100g of weight of what you put on your plate. Then go get your meet and enjoy. If you have small children they have an outdoor play area that keeps the young entertained while the adults eat and have a drink or two. After some time had passed we walked the grounds, through the lemon trees and rows of dormant grapes. Overall a good final winery visit for the day.
Leopard’s Leap is easily one of the most family- and group-oriented wineries in the region. The restaurant is huge, has an elaborate playground outside and a creative menu with something for everyone. The shop selling local produce and crafts was also a highlight.
Went for a wine tasting here, and noticed the restaurant was packed.. So if your want to eat here, make sure you book for the restaurant. The wine tasting was quite good. Had a large selection of wines to choose from for your 6 wines. Would go again to try the other wines.

Had a really lovely breakfast , the wine tasting was also good... worth a visit
Fine wine. Too bad the kitchen was closed and there wasn't even a piece of bread for the wine tasting. We hope this will be different during the warmer season.
We had a wonderful time at Leopards Leap. We had a great wine tasting presented by Luyando. He was very professional and served us well, his knowledge of the wine range is superb. You guys have a gem!
Great architecture. Great ambiance. Real treat. I will definitely be back.
Beautiful venue!!! The food was absolutely devine, we had lamb's neck with red wine sauce and variety of salads to choose from. The flavours on our plate was out of this world!!! Worth every penny! Will definitely be back, save Leopard's Peak under your wishlist*****
