Thank you to David, Roca's Maitre D who was kind enough to fit us in on a very busy day. As always, the food was excellent (an Easter menu with specialities), and the team, very accommodating. We had snails in lemon sage butter with gnocchi, roast beef salad, fillet, springbok, chocolate mousse and a cheese platter. The view is magnificent and the food was extremely beautifully presented and tasty. My only criticism is that the portions are MINUTE. I'm only 49kg but I left hungry. So my advice would be to increase portion sizes a smidgen. Then I could give it a 5.
I had lunch at Cafe Roca in franschoek today. I'm hoping this finds its way to the restaurant as it doesn't seem to be loaded on Zomato. I enjoyed a virgin cocktail, the fish and chips,. Y daughter lived the salad and the croquettes. The desert was divine too.
Service was outstanding. Everyone from the matre d to the waiter who in this case was Cedric. Food was excellent, balanced, worth every penny. Best winetram spot for lunch by a mile.
The location is amazing, has the best views.
The service is excellent
The food is tasteful, plated beautifully and served very fast.
Thank you for having us
Wow what an awesome experience. We booked the last table available tonight and then got moved to a view window by the friendly hostess. Food is outstanding, great ambience and views that go forever. Not forgetting the attentive and polite service by Temba. We will be back on our next visit.
Lovely place, very welcoming with the friendliest staff. Great atmosphere. Incredible food. The chefs recommendations are simply divine. I’d highly recommend ROCA to anyone visiting Franschhoek.
Gorgeous views, great food and amazing service! What more can you ask for? They have a great outside sitting area downstairs and upstairs is indoors. Also have live music at times
Best view in Franschhoek! Amazing setting for sundowners. Tonight there was live entertainment with a guy doing acoustic and it was fabulous! A definite must do when you are in town
Great food and views. My negative is the slow time they took for the food and for the waiter to come to our table. Springbok and lamb shank was amazing.
I am still daydreaming about the delectable Seafood Bisque that I enjoyed at Roca Restaurant surrounded by 360 degree views of Franschhoek this past week!
Ambiance: 5/5.
In addition to their already iconic views of the Franschhoek Valley, they've gone and added a third level, referred to as “Roca 360 on the Roof”, complete with a comfy couch set up for your viewing pleasure to take it all in. At this point, Roca is almost just showing off now, and I like it!
Service: 5/5.
Our smiling and knowledgable waitress could not have done more to ensure that we were comfortable at all times, that our wine glasses were never empty and to make knowledgable recommendations on 'must-try' dishes.
Food: 4/5.
My photographs attached should hopefully go a long way in giving you an idea of plating, and presentation of the dishes so this rating below is purely based on taste.
My starter, the recommended Seafood Bisque made with local Linefish blew me away. Seafood Bisques of any kind are a firm favourite of mine and I religiously try the lobster or fish alternative at any venue that offers it! The Bisque had lots of flavour, and had the right balance of creaminess and saltiness with generous portions of Linefish in it.
Next, it was onto the Seared Sesame Crusted Salmon served with slow roasted cherry tomato, grilled fennel bulb, parsley pommes purée, pickled ginger and a lemon salsa. The salmon was the right combination of crunchy and softness inside, and cooked to perfection! It was exactly what I had imagined a dish with that description to be and the only conjecture that I had was over the portion size as this is a main dish.
Wood-oven Roasted Mozambican Chicken: Free range deboned chicken, roasted vegetables, peri-peri sauce and hand cut chips. The chicken was simple but full of flavour and spicy without overpowering the dish.
We left thinking that we had selected the best three dishes and absolutely content, which I can't say after every meal.
*Recommendation: Even, if it is simply for sundowners, Roca Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone heading to Franschhoek!

While the associated winery may not be cream of the crop, ROCA boasts delicious food at elevated (yet expected) prices. The setting high above Franschhoek is beautiful with nearly 180 degree vistas from the main floor windows.
A somewhat dense, buttery roll kicked off my lunch (I was granted a second upon request). The caprese salad was a bit compact, but fresh and packed with flavor in every bite. Ostrich for my main course was tender and juicy.
Having arrived around 1330, service could have been a bit snappier since the restaurant was nearly empty, but overall service was just fine. The only real issue were some flies congregating by the windows next to the table, yikes.
R350 all together, including a large sparkling water and the tip made for a somewhat spendy, but perfectly enjoyable lunch overlooking the sun-drenched hills and town below.
A true hidden gem offering spectacular views and a splendid menu. Friendly and welcoming family atmosphere, staff really makes you feel as if you home
We loved everything about this special restaurant. The setting was superb boasting awesome views over Franschoek and the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed the sunset and full moon. The food was heavenly! The service was outstanding. Would love to return asap!
We had a lovely dinner at Roca; the springbok was delicious and the wine excellent. The place is very warm and service excellent; all of this for a very decent price by UK standards. Highly recommended!
Roca Restaurant, Beauty personied. Situated on Dieu Donne Wine Estate.
An absolute must visit.
FYI:
Big New years eve party happening on 31 December 2019. Live music and DJ from 9pm
One of the best views over Franschhoek. Staff with heart, attentive service and delicious food will keep you coming back for more. And did I mention the superb wine?? Highly recommended.
Had a very nice dinner here. What a view from the patio but I did not care for the multi color spot lights! Had a very tasty springbok filet for the first time, and really enjoyed the snails dish too.
Great wine estate ambience. Beautiful views of the Franschoek valley. Service great, super friendly and efficient. Food arrived quickly and was superb.

Beautiful restaurant with mesmerizing Mountain View. The food is really very tasty and they have a wide range of foods available. Wines are moderately fine. Good place to have a break for lunch while you are in Franschhoek for a whole day.

Food was good, meat was tasty and to the point. A bit more attention to detail would be good. The venue is pretty loud. Espresso was too much water. The plates were not warmed up so the pumpkin smash, which was spread out, was cold. The tables were not cleared thoroughly (our bred and butter plates and knives were there until the end, the table next to us wasn‘t fully cleared after the guests left a long time ago). Service was nice and prompt. So all in all a good experience but nothing special.
The menu is available online. It is very european food.
