Review Roca Restaurant - Franschhoek

Steve Horvath
While the associated winery may not be cream of the crop, ROCA boasts delicious food at elevated (yet expected) prices. The setting high above Franschhoek is beautiful with nearly 180 degree vistas from the main floor windows. A somewhat dense, buttery roll kicked off my lunch (I was granted a second upon request). The caprese salad was a bit compact, but fresh and packed with flavor in every bite. Ostrich for my main course was tender and juicy. Having arrived around 1330, service could have been a bit snappier since the restaurant was nearly empty, but overall service was just fine. The only real issue were some flies congregating by the windows next to the table, yikes. R350 all together, including a large sparkling water and the tip made for a somewhat spendy, but perfectly enjoyable lunch overlooking the sun-drenched hills and town below.

We loved everything about this special restaurant. The setting was superb boasting awesome views over Franschoek and the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed the sunset and full moon. The food was heavenly! The service was outstanding. Would love to return asap!

We had a lovely dinner at Roca; the springbok was delicious and the wine excellent. The place is very warm and service excellent; all of this for a very decent price by UK standards. Highly recommended!

One of the best views over Franschhoek. Staff with heart, attentive service and delicious food will keep you coming back for more. And did I mention the superb wine?? Highly recommended.

Had a very nice dinner here. What a view from the patio but I did not care for the multi color spot lights! Had a very tasty springbok filet for the first time, and really enjoyed the snails dish too.

Great wine estate ambience. Beautiful views of the Franschoek valley. Service great, super friendly and efficient. Food arrived quickly and was superb.

Beautiful restaurant with mesmerizing Mountain View. The food is really very tasty and they have a wide range of foods available. Wines are moderately fine. Good place to have a break for lunch while you are in Franschhoek for a whole day.

Food was good, meat was tasty and to the point. A bit more attention to detail would be good. The venue is pretty loud. Espresso was too much water. The plates were not warmed up so the pumpkin smash, which was spread out, was cold. The tables were not cleared thoroughly (our bred and butter plates and knives were there until the end, the table next to us wasn‘t fully cleared after the guests left a long time ago). Service was nice and prompt. So all in all a good experience but nothing special. The menu is available online. It is very european food.

What a beautiful view of Franschoek. Such friendly and helpful staff. Awesome food. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you!

The views are almost as delicious as the food, we were a big group on a business trip and not a single complaint bby any member was brought to my attention. With great an amazing view and fantastic food, who could complain?
Warren Phillips
Quality food & an awesome view. Comes with a price tag but for special occasions it's well worth it.

Thank you to David, Roca's Maitre D who was kind enough to fit us in on a very busy day. As always, the food was excellent (an Easter menu with specialities), and the team, very accommodating. We had snails in lemon sage butter with gnocchi, roast beef salad, fillet, springbok, chocolate mousse and a cheese platter. The view is magnificent and the food was extremely beautifully presented and tasty. My only criticism is that the portions are MINUTE. I'm only 49kg but I left hungry. So my advice would be to increase portion sizes a smidgen. Then I could give it a 5.

I had lunch at Cafe Roca in franschoek today. I'm hoping this finds its way to the restaurant as it doesn't seem to be loaded on Zomato. I enjoyed a virgin cocktail, the fish and chips,. Y daughter lived the salad and the croquettes. The desert was divine too.

Service was outstanding. Everyone from the matre d to the waiter who in this case was Cedric. Food was excellent, balanced, worth every penny. Best winetram spot for lunch by a mile.

Wow what an awesome experience. We booked the last table available tonight and then got moved to a view window by the friendly hostess. Food is outstanding, great ambience and views that go forever. Not forgetting the attentive and polite service by Temba. We will be back on our next visit.

Lovely place, very welcoming with the friendliest staff. Great atmosphere. Incredible food. The chefs recommendations are simply divine. I’d highly recommend ROCA to anyone visiting Franschhoek.

Gorgeous views, great food and amazing service! What more can you ask for? They have a great outside sitting area downstairs and upstairs is indoors. Also have live music at times

Best view in Franschhoek! Amazing setting for sundowners. Tonight there was live entertainment with a guy doing acoustic and it was fabulous! A definite must do when you are in town
Leanne Kimmings
Great food and views. My negative is the slow time they took for the food and for the waiter to come to our table. Springbok and lamb shank was amazing.

I am still daydreaming about the delectable Seafood Bisque that I enjoyed at Roca Restaurant surrounded by 360 degree views of Franschhoek this past week!

Ambiance: 5/5.
In addition to their already iconic views of the Franschhoek Valley, they've gone and added a third level, referred to as “Roca 360 on the Roof”, complete with a comfy couch set up for your viewing pleasure to take it all in. At this point, Roca is almost just showing off now, and I like it!

Service: 5/5.
Our smiling and knowledgable waitress could not have done more to ensure that we were comfortable at all times, that our wine glasses were never empty and to make knowledgable recommendations on 'must-try' dishes.

Food: 4/5.
My photographs attached should hopefully go a long way in giving you an idea of plating, and presentation of the dishes so this rating below is purely based on taste.
My starter, the recommended Seafood Bisque made with local Linefish blew me away. Seafood Bisques of any kind are a firm favourite of mine and I religiously try the lobster or fish alternative at any venue that offers it! The Bisque had lots of flavour, and had the right balance of creaminess and saltiness with generous portions of Linefish in it.

Next, it was onto the Seared Sesame Crusted Salmon served with slow roasted cherry tomato, grilled fennel bulb, parsley pommes purée, pickled ginger and a lemon salsa. The salmon was the right combination of crunchy and softness inside, and cooked to perfection! It was exactly what I had imagined a dish with that description to be and the only conjecture that I had was over the portion size as this is a main dish.

Wood-oven Roasted Mozambican Chicken: Free range deboned chicken, roasted vegetables, peri-peri sauce and hand cut chips. The chicken was simple but full of flavour and spicy without overpowering the dish.
We left thinking that we had selected the best three dishes and absolutely content, which I can't say after every meal.

*Recommendation: Even, if it is simply for sundowners, Roca Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone heading to Franschhoek!

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

Wonderful ambiance, great service, great food and great wine. And to top it all the most wonderful view in the Cape winelands. Our waiter Augustus was an absolute star.

I really am a sucker for a good view and Roca really delivered. I knew when I walked up the stairs that I was in for a treat. The restaurant's deco is breathtakingly beautiful. My friends and I were seated outside and had the pleasure of watching the sunset while enjoying the Warm Quinoa and Roasted vegetables with a glass of white wine. My meal was amazing, so much so that I insisted on thanking the chef in person. I was so impressed with the experience in it's entirety.

Wonderful experience !! View is fantastic! Food great quality! Nice wines ! Fantastic service! And prices reasonable ! We have enjoyed so much lunch there and will come back for sure

We had Pork belly which was good. Nice atmosphere and good service. It is a pity that one can not do a wine tasting compared with the food of the restaurant as at other places.
Caroline
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. The view is spectacular although we were stuck in the corner and therefore couldn't fully enjoy it. The live music adds to the vibe and the food was good. Their Dieu donne rose brut went down well on this hot evening!

My chicken dish was very good cleaned the plate however my wife's chicken was raw!!! So inconsistent. I can't understand how a chef working in a restaurant of this calibre is capable of sending out raw chicken, how dangerous is that.Update, they did not even bother to redo the chicken, thought my wife did not want anything!!! Only thing to come here for is the view
Finnjos
Amazing experience!!! Exquisite view of Franschhoek!! Staff were incredible, was welcomed immediately and given the oppotion of two table settings (one inside and one outside, weather permitting). Service was fantastic. Food was superb and paired beautifully with the estate wines 😊 Wonderful experience that I would highly recommend

Visited during the busy holiday season and the service has a bit haphazard and unpolished, and the restaurant was exceptionally hot. Patrons were vying for one lonely fan than was trying to cool the entire restaurant to down. I skipped starters and had the prawn pasta as a main. No mention was made of it being served in pesto, and whilst it was tasty I felt as if it was a dish I could have made at home. The boys in our party went for the fillet and springbok. The portions were rather small and both were left feeling hungry afterwards. I have no problem paying for good food but based on what we were served I don't think the prices were warranted. No fault of the restaurant, but unfortunately we were seated right next to an obnoxious, grumpy diner who put a dampener on the experience. The restaurant does have a lovely view, which made up for it though.
Good Food Snob
Time Visited: Saturday Dinner

Excellent service and BREATHTAKING VIEW (friendly and knowledgeable waiters) starter calamari (the dish did not come together well, too many flavors) for main course i had the "springboks" Venison which was beautiful (perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection) for dessert i settled for the cheesecake which was nothing special but still tasted good.

4/5
Selma Baldi Richardson
The view sitting outside was stunning, the food was great but not sensational. My husband ordered the pork belly which was nice, once he added salt and pepper. I had a similar experience with the only vegetarian option on the main course menu, the quinoa with roasted vegetables. The beetroot risotto starter was outstanding, however, to be recommended.
Gordon Pretorius
Breathtaking view from the inside and outside of this restaurant. Great menu with top class food. From the starters to our desserts, not one issue, this is rare these days. Would definitely go back.
Gabriel Nieuwoudt
Stay away from the meat!
Average waitresses.
No air conditioning.
Arrogant manager!
Just an all round disappointing experience.
With so many excellent choices in the Winelands, I will definitely not go back there.
Jen Almendro
I would definitely go back. Very very impressive. Friendly service. Excellent wine advice. Prawn starter was delicious!!! Thanks for the amazing lunch!

Pretty views even though it was an overcast day and we didn't sit in the first row. The food was a nice twist on the usual suspects with a South African flare. Everything was tasty. We had the Pork Roulade and the Gnocchi Snails for starters - the snails were the better option.
For mains, we had the salmon, the pork belly and the springbok. The springbok ordered medium was without a doubt the best option.
For dessert we ordered the creme brûlée which was so tasty, the Malva pudding which was nice and the chocolate trio.
The only issue I had was that the chocolate trio was supposed to be a homemade chocolate bar, chocolate ganache and chocolate mousse. We had to raise some questions over a lack of ganache (it was just a spread at the bottom) and the "bars" were just messy balls.
The chef sent out more ganache and chocolate bars to compensate for the poor plating.

I would definitely go back and would recommend this restaurant.

First thing first, what a view.
The service was friendly attentive and professional our waitress convinced me to try the kingklip on a bed of risotto, it is the best fish dish I have ever had, would have ordered another one but it is an upmarket place and my budget wouldn't allow for it.
JoJo had the the beetroot risotto the taste was amazing but I think it might have stood out a bit as the texture was not as good as the risotto on my dish, but due to the taste I will let that slide.
The let down was the pork roulade it was lacking sweetness and slightly overpowered by the onion in it.
All in all one of the best lunches we have ever had, wish we could have stayed longer to try some of the desserts.
Jo-Anne Williams

ROCA could not be set in a more perfect setting. I was pleasantly surprised also when we where advised that we could first enjoy pre-dinner drinks at our table outside, to enjoy the magnificent sunset. Thereafter, we were more than welcome to either enjoy our dinner there, or at our table inside the restaurant, which also afforded us an excellent view. It is obvious that great care has been taken in putting the menu together also. Only critique I could possibly give, is that the salmon was completely underseasoned, and there was no salt available on the table,. Portion size could also be slightly larger. Great care was taken assembling the fruit platter, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

What a hidden gem! Literally hidden in the mountains... I came here to treat my better half on his birthday and was absolutely blown away by the view, the friendly service and the amazing food. Wow!

Walking up the stairs with the fountains beside you on either side, the huge "ROCA" sign up in front and the picture perfect mountains in the background, you start to feel like you've entered some sort of enchanted cave. Upon entering, we were welcomed with open arms and shown to our table. When making the booking, I told them it was for a birthday. They put a great effort into trying to make our lunch special - from everyone wishing happy birthday to being seated at a perfect table right up against the window, with a perfect view over the Franschhoek valley.

Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. We wanted to have something like a sweet sparkling wine to start the lunch off with, but the sweetest they had was a brut rosé. She brought us a glass to taste, but we decided against it. Instead, she recommended the rosé, which was a dark shade of red and looked more like a pinot noir than a rosé. But it tasted lovely - exactly what we were looking for!

After ordering our starters and mains, they brought us some bread. My first impression of a restaurant is usually formed based on its bread and its bathrooms. Bathrooms were tidy, but the bread wasn't anything special. A bit warm, but not fresh from the oven. The butter was hard and didn't melt when you tried to spread it on the bread. However, I was completely blown away when our starters arrived. I'm really surprised that this restaurant isn't classified as a fine dining place, because the presentation and quality of the food sure does live up to the standards! I had the fish cake, while my better half had the pork roulade. The pork was delicious - soft meat that the knife cut through like butter, lovely textures and flavors that worked. The fish cake itself was a bit dry, but the salmon mousse, with its dominating salty taste, was perfectly complimented by the beetroot purée. And it also had lovely textures, with each element being a perfect fit to the overall dish.

We were lucky enough to have placed our order before everyone else, so our mains arrived quickly. We indulged in the Mozambique chicken and the kingklip special. I was bent on also having the chicken, but they had me at "kingklip with a lemon risotto" *mouthwatering*. Admittedly, I'm always skeptical about ordering kingklip - so often it turns out being rubbery and flavorless. However, the chef obviously knew what he was doing! It was cooked to perfection, with just a light browning on the meat. And the risotto... Oh my word! It was amazing! Beautifully presented, but my only complaint was that I felt the broccoli was a bit undercooked for my liking - a bit too hard and difficult to cut into. My better half couldn't stop raving about the chicken! In fact, he was so impressed, he gave it a 6/5. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth soft and tender, and perfectly deboned. As my he put it "you can see that the chef has a passion for his food" - big portion, but definitely no compromise on quality, expertly deboned. He was still going on about it the next morning!

We didn't actually have any room left for dessert, but my better half couldn't resist the malva pudding and I had a craving for a chocolate bomb. So malva pudding and chocolate trio is was! The malva was average - not bad, but nothing special. However, it was nice of them to try write "Happy Birthday" on the plate with chocolate sauce. Unfortunate that the custard flowed all over the place and made a bit of a mess of the whole thing. My chocolate trio was delicious - not too sweet, not too bitter, but leaning more to the dark chocolate bitterness side. It was beautifully balanced by the addition of cream and fresh fruits, which really helped to make the dessert a whole lot lighter than it otherwise would've been. I had a hard time choosing my dessert among all the tasty options, but I was definitely not disappointed by my final decision!

The quality of food, the view and the fact that you're in Franschhoek, one of the tourism capitals of Cape Town, meant that the bill was going to be a fortune. But it was money well spent in my opinion! You definitely got what you paid for, with large portions and fantastic flavors. The chef got a standing ovation from us - his Mozambique chicken took the cake, but all the other dishes were close seconds. Well done to the amazing team in the kitchen and on the floor - ROCA staff, you really made the day special!

Highly recommended! I can't fault this restaurant. We'll definitely be returning in the near future!

Great service. Although we went at night we didn't get to see the views. Springbok was really well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tender and flavoursome. I would def come back for a lunch to see the view overlooking Franshoek. ROCA was recommended by a friend. a recommendation It was!

Visited ROCA on a sunny afternoon. First tough decision was whether to sit inside among the opulent decor, or bask in the sun outside with the view. The sunny day in winter with a view was awesome. Our competent waiter convinced us to go with a sirloin and prawn and chicken curry. The dishes were beautifully presented. The sirloin was tender, but the marrow lacked the typical richness. A great partner to the Cab Sauv. A great meal was rounded off perfectly with a visit to the Dieu Donné tasting room.

The view over the valley is an absolute delight with this very adventurous venue on a wine farm brewing its own beer. The seasonal menu is always a delight and the quality of food excellent. I love French Fries as their quality usually dictates the kitchen's capabilities. So ordered some with my main course and felt like some mayo with the fries, a few minutes later freshly made mayo appeared, now that's the proof of an excellent kitchen. Serving staff are always excellent too.

Besides being a great spot to watch the sun go down, Roca also makes some fantastic food. We stopped in for supper on a recent trip to Franschhoek and I had a wonderful bowl of butternut soup, followed by creme brûlée (obvs). I had little bites of everyone else's food too (again, obvs) and everything was great. Expect excellent service and beautiful decor to round off the experience!

.It's very important to note that the current menu posted on Zomato is Outdated and is actually a Fine Dining Restaurant now and not a Italian Restaurant. As for the actual review,

Excellent food with great options and an amazing view, couldn't ask for more.

I seriously cannot fault ROCA Restaurant. The setting is amazing - try get there for the sunset. I had the Mozambique Chicken dish - it was sublime! The service impeccable and the desert (Malva pudding) delicious. A memorable dinning experience.

This is the most beautiful view over looking the whole of Franschhoek valley. Great friendly service with delicious food. The wine list is affordable and is a great place for a date or special occasion.
Nomalanga Ntuli
We hard their deboned lamb shank and their R15 wine tasting. Food was well seasoned and the wine was well poured. The view was absolutely breathtaking.

O-M-G I just had THE best piece of salmon EVER!!! My blunt butter knife literally glided through the salmon. The wasabi mash complimented the salmon like a shoe with laces (apologies for the corny analogy. Maybe I should have said like a straw wine with Gorgonzola cheese). Come try it for yourself. My friends' dishes were out of this world too. My partner had the seafood curry which was amazing and according to my friend she had the ribeye which was delicious

What a lovely afternoon spent at Roca! The venue is fantastic and the view are incredible! The food was really very good and was worth the wait! I will definitely be back👍🏻

Had lunch with my wife. I had the sirloin entrecôte and the sticky toffee (date) pudding plus estate wine.

Service was slick and the presentation plus quality of meal superb. Definitely a restaurant to return to. Our best meal so far in Frranschoek!
Luan Egan
Excellent meal I had the pork belly and the chefs version of Eton mess for desert the pannacotta is the best I have ever had. The setting is great with the best views.
Martin Le Roux
Great experience as usual. Stunning sunset views, great service and amazing food.

The Pecorino Soufflé was light and fluffy and was well complimented by the tomato sauce and herb pesto. The highlight from a food perspective was by far the Springbuck loin. Complemented by potato dauphinoise, truffled mushrooms, wilted spinach, butternut puree and port jus. It was an amazingly rounded dish with flavours that complimented each other spectacularly. We were a table of 4 and overall everyone enjoyed their meals. The pork belly was a bit overpowered by the bacon sauce but otherwise was good.

I would definitely recommend Roca to others, and will be visiting again.
Christian Greyling
This is one of the best meals i've had all year. An absolute must for anyone coming to Franshoek. Yes the food took over an hour to get here but its so soo worth it. Go wine tasting after ordering for that hour to fly by.

ROCA was amazing!! We were in Franschoek for the weekend, and had dinner at ROCA. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The staff were all very attentive. And of course, the view was priceless!!

Absolute delight. We visited Roca for our work year-end lunch, and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. Amazing views from the outdoor decking area and despite being a group of almost 20 people, the waiters were sharp and efficient -- my glass of bubbly was never left empty 😊

Three course meal was delicious! Pork belly starter was tasty, lamb shank for main just fell apart and melt-in-the-mouth stuff. And the deconstructed eton mess for dessert with one of the best panna cottas that I have tasted!

Definitely a restaurant to visit if you are in the area and looking for a very special dining experience.
Leila Osato
ROCA is an absolute treat! It really is in the most prime spot, looking over the most exquisite vineyards. The food was delicious and the service was great too. This place is something special! I would highly recommend going early for a few sundowners before dinner, the sunset really is something special :)
Cheryl Gilfillan Dinkelmann
Prawn tempura starter with avocado and tomato chili jam - spectacular take on the retro avocado ritz. Beautiful seafood curry and wine to die for. The most spectacular view in the world. Roca is also family friendly. A little slice of heaven.
Leah Feiger
This place. Great view, good service. Really not great food. Such a disappointment for being in the culinary capital of the Western Cape! We had such a lovely time enjoying our drinks outside while watching the sun go down, and then once the food arrived transitioned to their dining room upstairs. The space is quite beautiful, and other than the view from La Petite Ferme, their view is really unparalleled. However, the food! Why oh why was our food not good!

I had their special which was some sort of grilled fish dish. It was bland, boney, and tough. I was at a table of 4, and none of us really enjoyed our meal. Not enjoyable at all. Would not come back, except for maybe a cocktail on their lovely porch. So overpriced though for the bad quality.

The pros: Beautiful view.

The cons: ...Everything else.
Chanet
Beautiful setting with incredible views, but waited over an hour for our main meal and although it was tasty it was cold :( service isn't great. Won't go here again.
Mark Kokoropo
A weekly hangout for my girlfriend and myself and it never seems to disappoint especially during the summer sunset or Sunday lunches. A very relaxed and fluid atmosphere, with great service and great plating of meals.

I am the biggest fan of food with a view; and Franschhoek is bursting with beautiful scenery and exquisite landscapes. On Sunday, my entire family - here from PE and Joburg - meandered through to Roca restaurant at Dieu Donne Wine Estate. The views are enough to warrant a great review but the food was OUTSTANDING. My mom and I shared the tempura prawn and avo starter - Roca's take on the classic avo ritz - and it was so incredibly delicious! It was full of flavor and absolutely beautifully presented. In fact, I marveled at every single dish's presentation! For mains I had the seared Norwegian salmon with wasabi mash and it was hands down the best salmon I have ever had! Everyone tried a little and agreed that I won the prize for best meal (GO ME). My mom had the fillet which was cooked to perfection and served with such good mash (I love mash); and my cousin had the gnocchi. The gnocchi is a smaller portion and we all joked that she would still be hungry after but it was so creamy and rich and indulgent - in the best way - that the portion size was actually spot on!Everyone's food looked incredible and everyone loved their meals - you know when a table goes quiet that people are enjoying there food!It was really busy and although our starters came out really quickly, our mains took just a little bit too long for that perfect 5.0; but we were a big table and our waiter, Archie, was really fantastic! Plus the bottles of Haute Cabriere Chardonnay Pinot Noir (my favourite wine ever) didn't hurt.I absolutely loved Roca and it is such an awesome spot, nestled between powerful mountains and overlooking all of Franschhoek; this is a definite winner!
Bevan Stephen Smith
The food, the view, the service - nothing short of superb. The dining experience was un-fussed and relaxing.

The food exceeded our expectations in every way & the view from our table just added to the occasion.

A must visit if you're around Franschhoek.

Steven
We had high hopes for ROCA. Too many items out of stock - wines and dishes, mediocre food. Menu looks good but the food did not live up to it. Duck with a tomato sauce does not work.

The view and general ambiance is really good but they need to cater for more than tourists.
Neetu Sinha
Very good views of the beautiful Franschoek Mountains. It just ended there for me. Stock out on premium wines, knowing that tempura langoustines is an prawn tempura and that Duck had tomato based sauce. Disappointed ! Lack of training reflects in knowledge of waitrons
An experience and expectation that is a let down.
Jared Carneson
Amazing views and the paella wasn't bad but I had one dodgey muscle in the mix and the service was a little slow but all in all a good experience.
Rachel
I went to Roca with 3 friends for a fancy dinner while in Franschhoek recently. I had checked the menu online beforehand and was slightly disappointed when the mushroom fettuccine wasn't on the menu when we arrived but I had the kudu fillet which was quite nice. The service was great, the view was amazing and the food was good.
Magdel
I made a booking at Roca and phoned the day before to pre-order pork belly seeing that at some restaurants it sometimes runs out. The person on the phoned laughed at me and said that Roca is not that type of restaurant and that they will have pork belly available. When we got there the next day their pork belly was out of stock. Otherwise the food and service was good.
Mandy
Amazing venue!
A huge and successful effort made to satisfy a grain-free vegan. The service is out of this world and food matches its magical view. My favorite restaurant in Cape Town by far!
Prasidh Ramson
Stunning views. Excellent meals!
Swift service for the most part. Recommend!
Try the Veg Pizza or Poached Pear Salad washed down with the house white wine!

Jenny Sulivan
Excellent view in Franschoek. Delicious tapas... great service. Stunning Wines!
Cory
This is a beautiful venue with a fantastic view and ambience, and for that I give it a four. As for the eating experience, a 3 - 3.5 is probably appropriate. The wait staff are attentive and professional. There certainly is opportunity here for a good chef to make a mark. But, competition is stiff in Franschhoek though.
Sonia Abels-Bredenkamp
I would like to say that we had an awesome time at ROCA, the atmosphere was relaxed and the views stunning, the food and house wine, tasty and the staff friendly and helpful, I was extremely anxious about my active 2 year old but to my delight, the grounds outside satisfied his curiosity and activeness. I will definitely be going back again.. Sonia Bredenkamp

Paused for lunch while wine tasting. Mezze, tapas and antipasti! They also have an inhouse microbrewery, but would do well to keep the waiters informed what's what with their beer. Excellent food and beautiful view.
LoveFood! Blog
I highly recommend visiting Roca for a lunch. As the restaurant has huge glass windows that over look the breath-taking view of the Franschhoek valley. If you are there for dinner, you miss out on this view. However, the food is just as good for dinner or lunch. I highly recommend the pizza's...they are true Italian styled pizza's. They are not round like we are used to but rather oblong and rustic...and very delicious! They use such fresh ingredients and are presented on a wooden board. In my opinion the Dieu Donne wines are nothing to write home about but the restaurant does offer a good selection of other wines. This restaurant is worth a visit on your next wine tour holiday!
