Great for coffee. Services freshly baked cakes and also serves smoothies and milkshakes. The bakery is good sells cakes, cookies, brownies, biscotti etc. The confectionery is fresh, rich, very well done, not your average cakes. If you are fussy cake person and cannot handle coffee shops with mediocre cake, Carmella’s is your spot. Nice for breakfast and light meals. Woman owned business, Carmella is personally there in most days. The square has option of Free uncovered parking or paid covered parking. Restaurant is located on top floor opposite Kauai and next to PostNet. On same floor as the Virgin Active Gym. The ATMs are a few steps away.

Lovely restaurant located in Cedar Square. We paid a visit during loadshedding though, so the entire menu was not available and understandably so. The food was lovely and prices were fair. This restaurant feels like a cafe that offers home made meals, something I found very pleasant. There are a multitude of cocktails on offer and some gourmet milkshakes too.

Just ordered from here and got an unexpected surprise. I loved my Bfast and the cake. Thank you ❤️

The service was great, and the food very delicious. I was shocked to receive my food within 5 minutes, literally it was soo quick. The food on the dish were so fresh and tasty,I especially loved the watermelon surprise(was not on the menu), it really complemented all the flavors. I can't wait to tey more dishes 😀

Exceptional salmon scramble breakfast, perfect eggs scrambled with cre'me fraic'he toasted rye, grilled cherry tomatoes, the stand out was the orange slices and the crispy kale done with a subtle spice, everything complimented one another, the best salmon breakfast I've had by far....

My beloved Restaurant. I write fondly about Carmella’s because I had the most amazing culinary experience here. The food tastes as good as it looks. The in-house rusks deserve their own review. Make sure you ask for some. They also have the gluten free version. Staff are always more than happy to ensure your prime satisfaction. I love it there. 6 Stars !!!

Superb service. Breakfast was amazing. Got a cupcake for my birthday, nice touch. Lemon meringue tartlets were very tasty but a bit small.

The service is very attentive and the food is wonderful and surprisingly good value for money. Lovely vibe with the staff being highly passionate about what they do and it reflects in the food. Learnt a great tip to keep the wonderful bees at bay whilst eating,burn left over coffee from the coffee grinders.

Carmella's Nutella cake saved the day for me last Friday! I traveled from Melrose Arch all the way to Cedar Square to get a speciality cake for my fiancés 40th birthday party the next day (long story about why it was at the last minute!) and was let down at the cake shop I'd originally gone to whose website professes to have ready to go speciality cakes. On my way out, all despondent, angry and bothered, I spotted a beautiful cake at Carmella's and went in to enquire about whether they sell them. I was accommodated to the hilt. My cake was personalized and sparkles added at no extra cost! And it was so delicious that guests who don't ordinarily have a sweet tooth went back for seconds! Thank you so much for your kind assistance, generosity and professionalism. I will be back for lunch the next time I'm in the area.

I love Carmella's !! I always take my dogs with me to breakfast -they get a warm welcome and their own water bowls -they are so kind to my animals. Staff are incredible and so friendly ! I am super fussy and asked for an 8egg white omlette -they didn't hesitate to whatever it would take to gice me the best breakfadt. The owner's warmth and love for her restaurant gives the place a wonderful atmosphere.

What beautiful service... my delicious food was accompanied by a small bowl of honey which instantly attracted a lot of bees.. . We removed the honey and our waiter lit some coffee to discourage the bees! Smiles all round. Shell

My friend and I went for breakfast this morning. I live really far from the fourways area so wasn’t sure what to expect. Carmella’s was excellent the portion sizes are huge and the prices really reasonable for what you get. My friend has the mini vege with extra avocado and I had the savory mushrooms on rye bread. The mushrooms were amazing and the tumeric bomb was the perfect drink to wash it down with. I would definitely go back when in the area

We frequent Carmella's often as it's 2km from our home. They have fresh, quality food that is always impeccably plated and presented well. Their halloumi is amazing. We haven't had many of their cakes but the ones we have had were good. Reviews aren't really our thing so if we're posting one it's because you either screwed up badly or you did something amazing. Thanks to Carmella's for always making our breakfasts amazing. Keep up the good work and give your chefs a sloppy kiss from us....

Carmella’s is a lovely café with stunning decor and great busy morning ambience! The delicious food does not come cheap but its definitely worth every penny! Coffee is great and so is the service! Will return and recommend this as a quick coffee or breakfast spot!

What a charming spot in Cedar Square. Carmella's is the perfect brunch and lunch spot. There is lots of safe free parking and the restaurant is easy to find. We chose to sit inside even though there is plenty of outside seating. The decor is as sweet as the cakes on display. Fresh and charming at the same time.<br/><br/>Because I was a bit fluey, I decided to have the spicy vitamin C floo shot. I also had a lovely cappuccino with the most decadent chocolate cookie.<br/><br/>Cyprian had the burger and said it was juicy and tasty. I opted for the unusual pita meat ball combo with fresh guacamole. This was a real treat. Perfect for a winter lunch option. It was wholesome and full.<br/><br/>We struggles picking a cake, so wee had them all. Well smaller slices. I loved the carrot cake, filled with chunky pieces of pineapple. The Bar-One cheese cake was deadly. If you like chocolate this is a must. The regular cheesecake was delicious. Served with a side of strawberries, I preferred it plain.<br/><br/>Surprisingly, we had enough space for a frulata. This was creamy and not too sweet. The shakes and smoothies are big hit, so we had to taste them.<br/><br/>Its a lovely little restaurant that serves healthy, tasty fresh food in the Fourways area. If you looking for a great brunch spot, this is it.

If you're looking for healthy, wholesome homemade food in and around Cedar Square, then this is the place to be. The Service was effecient and the breakfast and smoothie was brilliant in terms of taste and presentation. To be honest, I couldn't identify any flaws.

Been meaning to eat here for a while. Have had one of their home meals which was great and they have quite a variety of them, they also have honey for sale which I love.<br/>Menu was a lot healthier than I expected.<br/>Their burgers were huge and extremely tasty. They come with sweet potato wedges that are amazing. <br/>Definitely going to make more stops here

The health and safety standards at this restaurant is appalling, my pregnant wife found a cockroach in her food, Management refused to take the blame passing the buck on, it was a green salad which clearly indicates that they do not even wash the salads prior to preparation. This restaurant should definitely be avoided.

Stopped by for a lazy Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised they were still serving breakfast! This chic coffee style shop has the outdoor casual patio seating and indoor setup. Fresh bakes and other cooking essentials are displayed within the indoor area as well.<br/><br/>Breakfast items of the eggs benedict with the substitute sweet potato rosti with bacon was yum and the deep fried bacon which was a french toast with bacon, feta, avo so good. You get crispy bacon as the menu states!<br/><br/>Service was prompt and friendly. Booked for a wine pairing evening and looking forward to my next visit.<br/><br/>15/08/2017 Update Glenwood wine pairing dinner - the wine was definitely flowing and food was good. I especially liked the starter creamy fish soup and the stuffed chicken. This will become a feature pairing evening as well as trying new menu options for theme nights is also on the cards. I may become a regular here with all these options. Great friendly service from staff and management.

I was in the mood for a delicious, sweet, fudgy cake to feed my sweet tooth on a Sunday. Well this hit every single spot. Goodness me! I was so happy. <br/><br/>

Good food, beautiful setting. I had grilled chicken breasts with salty potato wedges and the breasts in a extravagant mushroom sauce. I ate with my father who had fillet steak strips in pita bread and his eyes widened as he took his first bite. Definitely coming again!<br/>My only recommendation is that more options and meals are provided.

We don't go here often anymore, purely because it is out of our way now. But still, great coffee and a newly furnished shop made for a great surprise a few days ago. The atmosphere is lovely, and the barista was knowledgeable, always a bonus for a coffee lover.

However - I walk past this little Bistro almost every day, and today I really wanted to try it out - for breakfast!!<br/><br/>I loved it!! Everything about this place is so pleasant!! Our waitor (Lawrence) was super friendly, the vibe is so relaxed, and the food was... incredible! By far the best breakfast I've had in a while!<br/><br/>I had the Salmon & Crème Fraiche Scramble. With a VERY generous portion of salmon, some scrambled eggs cooked to perfection, and sourdough rye.. this meal just made my day!<br/><br/>The rest of my party enjoyed their food just as much! And our mouths were watering after seeing the other food that was coming out of the kitchen!! I want to try every single dish on this menu!<br/><br/>#happiness

It's an awesome family run breakfast spot just after a gym session at Cedar square however very weather dependent. Often feels windy due to the passage that leads to restaurant. In winter it's probably a no no but summer it is bearable however you have to contend with the occasional bee flying around your table. Service is always good with needs taken care of. <br/><br/>Breakfast is a good selection off the menu which will fill that spot with a nice freshly ground coffee after a hard working session at Virgin Active.

Will have to be back for a meal as we only had a hot chocolate and baked cheesecake. Not the best I have had but well rounded and flavorful. Did not enjoy the hot chocolate as I believe if you want to serve hot chocolate in that fashion a good quality couverture needs to be used and not a compound.

Great service with attentive waiters. The scrambled eggs for breakfast is well seasoned and perfectly creamy! The bacon is crispy. The fruit salad was fresh , with a generous serving of yogurt. Good spot after leaving the gym!

Breakfast is serious business. In my twenties it was either soaking up the remnants of the long night before or providing the lining for a long night to come. Now it's vital if only to get me out of bed and keep what cognitive function I have left going. <br/><br/>So when I opened the Carmella's menu and was greeted by a quote from the Patron Saint of Breakfast , Ron Swanson , I knew I had found a peoples that took the most important meal of the day as seriously as I do. <br/><br/>Located outside Cedar square , Carmella's has a sidewalk bistro feel and this is complimented by the simple yet wholesome menu. It's mainly sandwich, bagel and wrap fare with amazing selection of coffees and some comfort food mains thrown into the mix. The ace up their sleeve is the in-house deli and bakery which means even a humble sarmie is served on the freshest of breads. I went with a bacon, avo and feta toasted sandwich seeing as sleeping-in meant this was more brunch than breakfast. I was not disappointed. You can choose your breads in every variant you could wish for and even the low GI that accompanied my meal really brought home the bacon. I paired my meal with a frozen coffee that's available on crushed ice or vanilla ice-cream and it was bliss. On the way to my table I did a sneak a sniff test over the other patrons shoulders and can confirm that the hot coffees smell just as good. The sandwiches were served with potatoe skins which I saved from the girlfriends plate for a midnight snack later that evening and for that alone both Carmella's and Nerishka have my undying affection. <br/><br/>So what Carmella's is, is a cafe that does everything a cafe should, serving delicious fillings on delicious breads with delicious caffeine to wash it all down. If you're in the mood for lunchtime fair that's both healthy and satisfying you could do little better than Carmella's. My only regret is not attempting some of the more breakfasty options on the menu (the heritage breakfast looks like what winning the premier league, congrats Leicester, must feel). I frequented Carmella's for quite some time every morning when my regular gym was being renovated.<br/>It was a standard coffee which was great and I tried almost everything on the breakfast menu and was never disappointed.<br/>The management are on the ball and very attentive, which is transferred into their staffs attitude.<br/>I was in the area so decided to stop in for an espresso and will certainly be back again to try out the lunch menu

Nice breakfast spot when your in the center. Service is friendly and helpful. Nice busy resturant and on a Saturday morning with the sun shinning, it's great to grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat.

Carmella's has such an interesting, trendy menu. I personally love the gluten free options and the fresh veg juices. Although, my most recent combo of fresh juice was a bit too gingery, but that's more my fault than anything. The breakfasts are fantastic as are the lunches. Every meal has been delicious and return worthy. Just check the salt cellars. The lids are often lose and M ended up with a plate full of salt. However, her meal was replaced at no charge.

As this was around 3pm that we met up with family and friends most of us opted to share. We were all surprised to see how generous the portions were and without asking they plated our sharing meals on separate plates👍🏻👍🏻

Came here for breakfast as I waited my my tyres to be fixed but unfortunately there was a blackout in Fourways. I ordered the Great start breakfast and unfortunately can not give a good review on the food as it was cooked with gas and I'm guessing they are not used to doing that because the eggs were dry and the food my a little cold but I will not hold it against them as this wasn't the first restaurant we went to the other restaurants just decided not to sell breakfast at all. So hopefully I can go back and come back with a better review but the Great start breakfast looked delicious and the staff was very pleasant. Thanks for the effort under the circumstances

Lovely little breakfast place! The service was very good and the food arrived promptly.<br/><br/>Their Heritage breakfast was a real treat and one has the choice of ordering it as a single or double portion. The single was more than sufficient.

Ordered the designer French toast and that is definitely one for the sweet tooth's out there! The yogurt was fresh and light but unfortunately the thin slices toast was not very filling for me. On the service side although there was 7 waiters and only 5 occupied tables they still took a long time to remove empty plates from the tables.

Very nice place with good food, but way over priced unfortunately. Used to be one of my favorites but I don't go there any more. Caio Baby in the same centre has a breakfast buffet for 80 bucks. Much better value.

Slow service from staff every time.Took like 15 min to take drinks order and it happened not once but 3 times when we visited.Not happy at all!

Photos of dishes on the menu aren't actually available for order. Under cooked/raw pork sausages. The orange juice which came with the breakfast eventually arrived with the bill. The Cherry tomatoes with another meal arrived as a shriveled tomato slice instead. <br/><br/>Disappointed.

A nice find for a Sunday lunch. After a wander around we settled on Carmella's. The experience was pleasant from beginning to end. A friendly, well informed waitress was at hand to help. I had a salmon and avo wrap which was tasty and served with potato skins and a small salad. My partner ordered the beef burger, served with sweet potato chips...really tasty...and a small salad, which he says, is one of the best home made burgers that's he'has eaten in a while. The rest of the menu looked fabulous and it was a tough decision on what delicious food to order. Another visit is a must...the breakfasts definitely need to be tried.

Wonderful little café in the heart of Fourways. Had the delicious scrambled eggs with salmon and cream cheese on rye; I would love to know how they cook their eggs because they were the best scrambled eggs I have ever had at a restaurant. The service was great and everyone was extremely friendly. Would love to go back when it's warm and sit in the outside section.

A very well set little bistro that overlooks Cedar Road, fantastic cakes and hot beverages although a meal (breakfast for example) can be a bit expensive. Overall the staff is friendly and I would recommend it to people who don't mind a bill of R300 or more for three people.

Lovely little spot at Cedar Square! Perfect for a bite to eat before a film, or even a quick milkshake. Their fruit-shakes are a dream come true (I'd recommend Mango) and the service alone is a highlight. Our waitress was very attentive and the manager stopped by our table to ensure all was well. I've been once before and had their french toast, which was the most golden, crispiest french toast I've ever had. I haven't eaten anything else there but keep going back for the milkshakes.

This is a surprisingly good breakfast bistro. The waitstaff are friendly and snappy. Decor is what can be expected from a walk way cafe but it's comfy and well located. Sad though that in line with current Sandton trends, it faced the car parking lot so don't expect a view. The breakfast menu is excellent and and I never had a bad meal or bad service. Pricing is competitive too. It's hugely popular and probably Cedar Square's busiest breakfast spot.

Lovely place to get lunch. I often grab coffee and a bite with friends. The service is very good and the managers always ask how your meal was. Love that it's outside, Not so great in winter though. Wrap up warm.

Was quickly greeted with a menu. Ordered a Cappuccino - a large one was delivered instead of a regular size. I ignored the wrong order and tried the coffee - very weak - maybe only half a shot? Waiter efficient in replacing with a regular size at the right strength.

I went to Carmella's for breakfast one morning and had the most delicious scrambled eggs! They were really the best I've eaten. We were wondering why the service was a bit slow, only to find out that there was no power at the time! We had already had some coffees and ordered breakfast. I chatted to the manager to let her know I had no cash on me, and all the ATM's in the area were down. She took my name & number and I promised to return the next day to pay. She was so polite about it all, never making me feel uncomfortable. Despite the lack of power, we had a lovely meal. I returned the next day to pay and she thanked me, as apparently she had been that nice to a few people but not many returned to settle the bill sadly. Carmella's has great service and really delicious food. It is a little pricey. Overall a great breakfast spot worth the visit!

I just went for breakfast with my good friend this morning to Carmella's. It is in a great location and it's always full. We were promptly seated and given menus. All the food on the menu looked so good. I decided to have the creamy salmon on crumpets and a late. I thoroughly enjoyed it! My friend however ordered the chicken mayo toastie and it was a bit dry and bland. <br/><br/>I had a good look through their menu and saw that they cater for parties - You can get personalised platters made and/or full meals, like lasagna and bobotie. I think this is such an awesome idea and now that i know that they provide this service ill definitely keep them in mind. They have a little shop section to the restaurant and you can buy some cute things there or just a delicious cupcake or slice of cake to munch on later. <br/><br/>The service and food was good - ill definitely go back again!
