Really good vibe... Music selection could use some tweaking but overall, it's worth popping into for a drink or two. Drinks are pretty good.
A hidden gem in the city! Rock n roll and old school hits play all night, a large selection of poisons on the bar shelves and a lively atmosphere intoxicates you! I love aces :)

Such a cool joint and very classy feel. Can't believe I've only ventured there for the first time this year. Really great place to watch lives gigs, fairly spacious with a vibe outside area and friendly bar staff

A great pub for an evening out with your friends. The variety of music is great, the staff are reasonably friendly and their drinks are prevailed by their top bartenders who know what they are doing. Magnificent drink menu.
Coolest vibe ever, the music in this place is such a treat! The bartenders are very friendly and always attentive. Definately a must see for any tourist hitting the streets of Cape Town

A good rock 'n' roll pub / club in Cape Town. Old school music & upmarket venue! It would be nice if we saw mixed crowds there which is not the case.
I went to Aces 'n Spades for the first time ever last night - and all tough I would need to go again and for a bit longer in order to get an better idea - I think I found my new favorite hangout! It is such a rad atmosphere. The music is great, service is great, decor is amazing!
Great lively venue with varying entertainment depending on the day of the week. Expect an upmarket venue with good service, well rounded and the management is fantastic resolved an issue with theft outside promptly with the help of the security staff.
Sound inside is excellent, many areas to dance as well as stand and catch up with friends, dedicated smoking area inside and outside.
The only drawback is the crime right outside the venue, unfortunately something that occurs everywhere in cape Town with petty theft.
If you are visiting cape Town, this place should definitely be on the itinerary.
Wonderful place to cool down when the city is sweltering from the heat. Try the excellent Beer on Tap Standard Laager if you are not sure what to get. Really good beer! A 330 ML beer on tap goes for about R35.00 which is standard for the city. They have some really good pizza specials also. Lots of ambience in terms of decor. In all a fantastic experience. BTW - they are in the old building of the YMCA 😄

What a great all night venue, only place (In CPT) where you will hear soft/hard rock plus some old school tunes.
Drinks are well priced for local beers and wine(comparable) one of the few places that sell espalon tequila- If you haven't tried it yet... get in there...
As well as, if local LIVE music is your thing, great, they have it every Friday night x2 bands the doors open 20:00 (check website for updated times)
AND lastly - If you're in to karaoke they have Rock Karaoke Wed nights. . .

R.I.P. Aces 'n Spades. Corona :-( One more of my favorite Cape Town venues closed down - very very sad ! We had so many brilliant nights there with great bands and people. The whole style was awesome. Hope so much that one day it will be open again !

My word. What a great place to go out on the weekend. First of all the sound is really really good inside. I caught the end of a band's performance on Friday and it was so clear. Maybe the band was just really good.. not sure. Anyway, it's very vibey inside and the bar staff are quick and on the ball. The outside smoking area reminded me of Silver Rosa and then someone pointed out that the same guy owns it. I love how they promote local singers and bands and I will definitely go here more to support them. Great place, good security and the vibe is awesome. Highly recommended.
