It only took one visit to get us hooked on Dolce! Their vegan pizza and baked goodies are to die for and with friendly staff to top it off, you won't think twice about going back.
The menu is large and the staff are extremely friendly! I saw many pastries and couldn’t choose between the quiche or bagel - eventually I decided I wanted a breakfast so opted for eggs Florentine (not the usual Benedict which may have been my mistake!, the food was “nice” but the Ray was a bit hard... all it needed was some extra flavor but all in all a FANTASTIC student spot which is affordable and full of variety - they also give back to the homeless or those in need and have healthy options!!
Bought 'the decadent delux bake box' - 2 cupcakes, 2 cheesecakes, 2 lindt brownies and 4 dolce kisses. Soooooo tasty. Best individual cheesecakes I have ever tasted. Friendly staff.
My order however wasn't on time.
I'm giving Dolce a 4.5 rating because 1) the peanut butter tart is the best vegan dessert I've had in my life, 2) they have several vegan items on their menu, including bagels with cashew cheese, and 3) the peanut butter tart is the best vegan dessert I've had in my life.

A cute setup with amazing cakes and vegan, halaal, banting-friendly options making this a great place with great friendly service for any squad to park off for something deliciously sweet especially after exams. Savoury options are okay but not something worth going out of your way to get
Finding Halaal food on lower main is difficult, coming across Dolce was thus refreshing! I had their pizzas and was really pleased, with the fine crisp base and enough filling to get your taste buds salivating and you belly smiling.
Really great desserts and savory dishes. Great variety. Only issue was some walnut shell shards in the carrot cake. Hopefully just a once off!
Literally the nicest bakery in Observatory. Piece of advice, just get a takeaway. It gets really hot there so don't want to sit there. But definitely has he best treats. Best best best. Lovely waiters too.
A quaint, colourful spot with a casual cool vibe . As I work close by I've popped in a couple of times over the years , I enjoy their chicken foldover pizza which is tasty cheesy goodness and value for money. They can occasionally over bake the crust so be vigilant when ordering one of those. Another favourite is their yummy brownie cheesecake which are well priced and make a great birthday cake. Most recently I tried their salmon and cream cheese bagel for brunch on a sunny winter's saturday. The bagel was tasty, well filled and a fulfilling midmorning meal. Will definitely pop in again soon

Went here for a quick coffee date with a friend and I'm so glad I discovered this hidden gem in Observatory!
The bakery itself is quite small and doesn't accommodate too many people, so I decided to sit outside. We were told to order and pay for our things inside and then we took it outside to eat - I'm not sure if there are any waitrons at this establishment or if that's usually how the ordering process works?
I ordered the gingerbread milkshake which was decently priced at R29. It was a no-frills, no-fuss milkshake but the taste was great. I was so eager to try the bar-one choc cake stack but I was told that they were sold out by the time I arrived (approximately 14h30). I did, however, order the vegan peanut butter pie. It was delicious! The base of the pie was a chocolate biscuit base and the pie was topped with dark chocolate... rich, but to-die-for.
What I love is that this bakery has a "pay it forward" initiative - for R10, you can fill out a post-it-note with your name and a message and paste it on the board, and for each person that donates, a muffin is taken to a children's home in Cape Town. How amazing?! ❤️
Although I didn't order any food, I've been told that they are certified halaal so I'm really keen to try out their pizzas and foldovers on the menu the next time I go there. I can already tell that this is going to be one of my favourite spots to get great cake in the future.
My husband and I decided to give the bakery a second chance yesterday . We ordered the melting moments pizzas ,steak and kidney pie, lindt brownies and a slice of carrot cake as a take away. The pizza was okay but we were pleasantly surprised by the pie. The filling was so tasty and the pastry flaky. Our sweet treats were also good , my husband loved the brownies. Thanks Dolce Bakery
Wonderful atmosphere! Amazing staff who were very friendly and helpful. Food and coffee were great! Wide range of vegan options. Great place to socialize or to work. They have wifi.
A treasure chest, filled with every wonderful treat worthy of a cheat day. Yummy, tasty, fresh , wholesome, halaal, also vegan goodies, great foodie gifts. As we sat down early after 830 am on a Saturday morning, we watched as trays of showstopper goodness was packed on display, it wouldn't last long as the place was starting to get really busy. They do takeaways, Uber Eats as well. Take card payments also. The croissants look ready to go on the catwalk. Croissants with bling. Love it. Had a salmon bagel, taste explosion. Chai with almond milk upsize is a must. Star of the show was a cupcake styled peach tea croissant, it had a surprise inside. Yum yum yum. We will be back most Definately. Job well done because the service rocks. Awesome experience not to be missed.

Beautiful use of interior. Decor and ambience is right on par with the trendy lower Observatory/ Obs vibe. Staff are nice, bagels are equally nice. Good selection of fillings. They have a R50 coffee and selected bagel on offer everyday. Cream cheese, cashew nut cheese and a caprese bagels are the ones that qualify for the R50, we really wanted a classic salmon and cream cheese bagel instead and paid the regular price. But if you can do without salmon then the R50 deal is a winner. Great place. Lovely toasted bagels
Light and fluffy pastries. Cakes packed with flavor and quality ingredients. Pride has been taken in each creation that comes out of the bakery. Fresh bagels made daily. Specials between 07:30-12 am are great value for money. This is a gem.
Had the pesto chicken bagel was very tasty. The chai latte was flavourful. Also had the croissant with peaches cream very tasty. Friendly staff and wonderful experience.

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Dolce Bakery. Their meals are oh so scrumptious. The menu caters for an extensive variety and various options are Vegan too, just enquire at the counter. Their dessert and cake treats are super tasty, look divine and are extremely well priced. They have options to buy whole cakes on pre-order too. I mean, a delicious whole cheesecake from R450! A perfect pickup and go treat for a special occasion. Oh, and if it's your birthday on the day, just show your ID and you get to choose a treat on the house. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They have daily specials that are absolutely worth it, a fresh cuppa hot coffee + a cream cheese and cashew bagel for R50, no jokes. Their smoothies are fresh and tasty too....and I've saved the absolute best for last, they are halaal certified! Boom! Game changer! Will definitely be back.

Amazing food. Great service. Only thing I need to mention is the wonky cutlery. Both myself and husband were unable to cut through the food. The cutlery was literally bending. We asked for a new set of cutlery but this didn't make a difference, so we just ate with our hands which was perfectly fine too. But I would strongly suggest upgrading the cutlery.
Will be back again for the great bagels!
Very cute little coffee shop. Cosy with the best cheesecake I've ever tasted! The food here is simply delicious and the drinks too. My chai latte was spot on. I enjoyed the relaxed vibe. Definitely one of the best coffee shops around
