We had a wonderful experience. From the excellent service, beautiful view and absolutely delicious food and champagne. Our waiter was friendly and informative, and helped us decide which options to choose from. We will definitely be back

This place is amazing, the food is well above average but the service we got was out of this world . Seriously great place and the view and ambience is excellent.

It’s restaurant week in CT so took the opportunity to try new places. The welcome at the Granary, on the 6th floor of the silo was fantastic. We went for lunch on Friday and initially it was quiet but it filled up quickly. Starters included Beef Tataki and Chicken Parfait. For mains we had Springbok Shank and Fish of the day. The shank was tasty but not as rich as classical lamb shank and it needed a touch of salt and pepper. The fish had a curry base and was great. I certainly think this is a place to go for a special meal but try sneak up to the roof top terrace as the views are amazing.

Majestic view of Cape Town waterfront and Table Mountain
Situated at the revamped mills this is a classy establishment/ hotel
Stylishly decorated with objects-de- art
We had the lunch special for R295 for 3 course meal- 1 starter 1 main and a dessert
Starters we superbly plated and delicious
Mains we chose lamb shank and the chicken
All great except one of my guests complained about the chicken - not properly cooked
Desserts were great as was service
A great lunch at that price

From the moment we exited the elevator into the Granary Café at The Silo, we were treated like gold.

Our waiter was attentive and extremely friendly and we were fortunate enough to have been seated right by the window looking out on Signal Hill and a part of Table Mountain.

The Sunday Brunch was excellent and I loved the shared-plate-idea of the main course and dessert. Food was hearty and delicious.

I love all the light coming in from the windows and the well chosen décor.

The table next to us ordered some decadent-looking cocktails so we’ll definitely have to return.

Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

The current rating is not a true reflection of this place.

Had the most amazing experience at the granary cafe. The service was excellent and the food was amazing from starter to dessert was top notch.

Starter: I had the soup of the day which was tomato soup. The soup was smooth and it was a bit spicy but delicious.

Mains: I had the Springbok shank, this was amazing meat falling of the bone. With white carrots and mash. Dish of the day 👌🏽 presentation was good. For wine I, had the spider pig pinot noir which went very well with my springbok shank.

Dessert: I had the orange & ricotta and anything with citrus I love. When I checked the dessert and saw orange I had to had it. Nothing else on the dessert menu matter. The sorbet was my favorite of the dessert it was a bit sour and the fresh food made orange and dried grapefruit was interesting.

Overall experience was great sitting on the 6th floor had the mountain view. Was pretty amazing and the service is so great and the staff so friendly and accommodating. Definitely a must to for a romantic dinner date or just to spoil yourself.

The Silo is one of the most breath-taking new builds in Cape Town. The Granary cafe also has beautiful decor and a lovely atmosphere. The food was good, however I wasn't blown away. It is also pretty pricey. Would still recommend for the experience but I was expecting more.

A sumptuous affair....situated on the 6th floor with spectacular views of the city, mountain(s) and harbour. A corporate celebration started with welcome drinks on the rooftop with all staff being attentive to every whim. Once bubbles, cocktails, and various craft beers were consumed, we were suitably relaxed, our hostess led us to a praiseworthy laid table with touches of eclectic decor genius. A prearranged set menu (on personalized menus carrying our business name) that incorporated classic elegance, with contemporary cool. Interpretations of many delicious time-honoured dishes were shared with a personal favorite being the calamari - wow!  Service was exemplary with a manager and two waitrons overseeing everything ran smoothly.  Staff attire is quirky but stylish, uniforms of suit jackets, jeans, white shirts, brown leather shoes. Prior reservations are a must for this venue, our bookings were confirmed and arranged mostly by email, well in advanced with all confirmed by both parties closer to our visit date. Highly recommended for a corporate function or special celebration.

**Update 2**
Finally, after much frustration, Luis the General Manager managed to get us a booking at the Granary having read the string of emails that followed before. Thanks for making a plan and allowing me to have dinner and update my review to be more representative of what is possible.

To start off with, we were welcomed by the hostess and swiftly seated at a cozy two seater right next to the amazing geometric windows that frame the city skyline in unique triangles. The windows being one of the main features of this building, look fantastic on the inside giving an openness to the surrounding despite all the steel. The interior is a combination of industrial chic and African art (in a non traditional context). The overall feel is slick and luxurious. I especially loved the copper clad tables with its shades, marks and polish marks taking on a life of their own. With this, the copper toned cutlery, an unexpected luxurious look. Upfront it must be said because this was an annoyance in my previous complaints - there were tables open from the time we sat down to the time we left (we were one of the last guests). So a tighter control on the booking availability can allow for more guests especially given the fuss around my booking in particular. Vouchers (not freebies - legit paid for credit for the establishment), although not given often, should be treated as a live in guest. That out the way as my main gripe let’s move onto the food.

For starters we had the scallops. Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The avo complimented the flavors of the scallops and citrus kick, a bit overpowering, for the delicate scallops flavor did add a different dimension to the dish. Portion wise - spot on. This was possibly the tastiest scallops starter I have tasted in a fine dining establishment. Well done on that.

Mains saw Candice having the lamb rump and me the seafood biryani. The lamb was tender and the fat rendered nicely. The mini veggies done well and the potato dauphinoise also very tasty. My seafood dish was everything for me. The seafood to rice ratio was in the favor of the seafood for a change and a first for me. Every bite had a perfectly cooked piece of seafood. I loved that the seafood held their own delicate flavours and were completed by the spice in the dish instead of it all tasting one note. Great work. My only complaint is that I couldn’t see the beautiful plating of the dish at this point in the evening due to the very low lighting. I’m a big fan of admiring the chefs work in the plating of a dish and would have appreciated a bit more light to do so. The pictures do not do this dish justice.

Before dessert we had a coffee and tried out their tea. For me the Weekend in Shanghai lacked the flavors described in the flavor profile but maybe it was just prepared a bit on the weak side. Maybe if customers could add their own tea to the pot they could adjust the taste accordingly and add to the experience. The coffee was spot on having the distinct bold flavours the Truth blend of coffees is know for. Not burnt but I do feel the foam quality could be worked on to give that wonderful fine micro foam that sits so well on a good brewed cup of coffee.

Dessert was a miss for me. I had the dulcey cremeux and there was just too much of the same soft mousse textures with a biscuit crumb at the bottom. The passion fruit was extremely tart for me but the ice cream was tasty on this one. Candice enjoyed had the chocolate tart. On the plus side it had a great chocolate flavor and not the traditional cocoa intense kind of favor. This, paired with the caramel/butterscotch creme and tasted good. The nut topping was great and tiny macaroons were perfect.

Service wise our waiter was fantastic, friendly and funny and there when you needed him without thinking. Full of recommendations and with a waiter like that you can’t go wrong. Perfect. I liked that the restaurant manager came to check up on us and made sure even our odd request for virgin cocktails was entertained. For some odd reason we treated like royalty when leaving dinner, handshakes and farewells from staff and managers alike.

Despite the initial booking issues which I assume have now been taken care of for the future, this is a spot well worth visiting. Unique with unparalleled views with fantastic food.

We shall be back for high tea and I will be able to review and give comment on that to.

**Update 1**

After the pathetic service in trying to secure a booking over two weeks go our dear Geraldine says they have entered peak season and can’t help at all because even if they are empty they have to reserve the seating for hotel guests. Wonderful waste of a voucher - can’t wait for next years price increase to make it more worthless than it is. No compromise based on their poor ability to schedule (over 2 weeks of asking) .... 5 Star my ass.

***Initial Review***
I thought getting a voucher for this place would be something special. I haven’t even sat down and eaten there and I’m annoyed.

Surely when you ask for a booking and they can’t accommodate you the next natural thing to do is offer the customer an alternative date, not a nicely worded email that says we don’t have your dates can’t you pick another ? .... I don’t know Susan ?.... considering the two dates I provided didn’t line up in your reservations book (and neither did the dates I’m the follow up correspondence)... how’s about you suggest a few options instead of making me play 21 guesses ? For a 5 Star place the service seems to be just admin for the customer.

Still waiting for a date, but it seems I will have to go in and ask for their schedule book and do it myself. Bleak. At least the PotluckClub has an online calendar to show availability ... so you don’t have to rely on playing ping pong with Susan.

If I don’t manage to get a date for a booking I’m tempted to ask them to refund the gift. Food should not be this much admin.

*don’t worry Susan was just an arbitrary choice of person’s name... also adds to the dramatic effect.

My experience at the Silo was great. It has been on my to do list for a while so I am glad that I finally got to tick it off.

My rating is mainly based on the awesome view and the experience itself. As for the food, I can not give a well rounded opinion as I only shared a plate of natcho's - but they were pretty tasty indeed.

A top rated spot for a drink with a view!

This is a place to remember and note down when in CPT. Service and hospitality was on point and made the special evening so much better. Food was beautifully presented, good portions and well prepared. Book well in advance to ensure you get a seat at the glass, the scenery is stunning. Didn't take to much food pics, it's a live in the moment and expierence it for yourself.

We really enjoyed the experience and the food was really special. They did ask us for any dietary restrictions, but we did not have any so I am not sure what they offer as alternatives. The servers were all very friendly but I do suggest you ask the servers what is included and what is not as they forgot to ask us if we wanted a glass of champagne. If we were offered it, we would have gladly paid the extra charge to enjoy a glass of bubbles with our tea. Dress lightly as the glass makes the room warm. You can have the blinds brought down but then you cannot take in the views. There was no butter with the scones but instead, there was a melt in your mouth lemon curd. I am not a lemon curd fan, but this I could have eaten with a spoon on its own. The tea I chose was very nice and they normally only offer one tea during the tea but due to you spending a bit of time indulging in delicious treats, you do end up having 2 drinks. The views are amazing and the whole experience is just simply wonderful. I would do it again. There is a nice selection of savoury to sweet and everything about the tea is social media friendly. The ladies bathroom has a chair in it for those extra cheeky Instagram pics. There are so many dining experiences to be had in the Silo Hotel that you cannot just stop at the High Tea. I would recommend spending a few more calendar events in this absolutely stunning venue.

This was truly a remarkable and memorable day! Every bit of attention to detail is appreciated. We particularly adored our waiter, Prince. The live background music was thoroughly enjoyed by all, John Niel certainly adds value to the atmosphere. Amazing food, ambience and overall experience.

Beautiful setting, ideal for special occasions to spoil your partner. Service was exceptional. Food was really good, chilli prawn pasta is definitely a winner. Best beef tartare I have had to date.

Best smoked tuna I've ever had & the service was excellent! Nice view of Lions Head for sunset and the wine list is crazy long too!! Definitely a little pricier but nothing too wild.

We had the Royal Tea experience on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely. Not only was the tea selection refreshing, the coffees were unexpectedly up to standard. The foodies were perfectly portioned, the only downside for me was the desserts were too sweet and too rich for my liking. The service was exceptional which is a rare find these days! I absolutely adore the windows at the Silo hotel. Will be planning a revisit soon!

Had a 5-Star experience at the Granary Cafe with my wife on our anniversary. We were very excited about the lunch at this beautiful hotel and were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and comfortable, making us feel right at home! We had a beautiful view of the V&A Waterfront whilst enjoying amazing dishes. The service was top-notch at this breathtaking restaurant. I can highly recommend The Granary Cafe.

Firstly, let's talk about the Silo building itself. It is gritty, industrial, chic and trendy, all rolled into one. If you are interested in design or architecture, do go and check out this space, along with the surrounding environment. All very contemporary! As for the Granary Cafe', informal, yet sophisticated and on trend interiors, with excellent staff to look after you. As for the food, well I would describe it as world class, delicious looking as we as exquisite tasting! Overall, a very relaxed, enjoyable and extremely tasty experience. Would recommend highly!

The Granary Café in The Silo was on our list of places to dine when we visited Cape Town. We booked a few months in advance as we know if can be very popular. The restaurant is located in the historic Silo building, which is far removed from its old grain store days. The building has had a stunning ‘glow-up’ and has been beautifully renovated. You enter the restaurant through the hotel reception, which is magnificent. You speed up several floors in the lift, to then arrive at The Granary Café. We arrived at sunset, and I can safely say, it was one of the best views I’ve ever had from a restaurant – it was incredible. The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows that offer panoramic views, stretching from Table Mountain to V&A Waterfront and beyond. Once greeted and seated, we chose our bottle of wine, and perused the menu. It was a fantastic menu, with a wide selection of both international and local dishes. Once decided, we sat back and watched the beautiful sunset. The food was sublime. Every course was a taste sensation, but for me, the Springbok was one of the best dishes of our two week visit to South Africa. It was hearty, flavoursome and truly remarkable. I was a bit dubious to experience a Chocolate Brownie with Porcini Mushrooms, but I can say that it does work and it’s delicious. Prince looked after us for the evening, and he was a genuinely incredible host. He was friendly, funny, and utterly charming, and really made us feel like we were the only people in the room. Genuinely I can say it’s some of the best service I’ve ever received. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting and it is the perfect place to enjoy a meal. I would also add that I think it’s very good value for the quality of the entire experience. You simply must visit The Granary Café if you’re looking for an amazing dining experience in Cape Town. It is a truly special place, and we certainly won’t forget our visit.
