From the moment you step inside of this lovely Cafe, you're captivated by the beautiful wall decor along with a line of pastries. This place is an instragrammer's dream come true to take photographs of the food and ambiance. Although the breakfast was fantastic (I had the breakfast croissant which tasted 's good as it looked) , the desserts didn't deliver for me. They were too sweet and felt a bit old. The apple strudel was cold, overpowered by brown sugar and Cinnamon where I couldn't even taste the apple. The baklava was nothing like a baklava (a bit stale and overpowered by the sweetness of the sauce) Other than those 2 things, I would highly recommend this place. I hope next time I would have a better dessert experience.
What's not to love about this place...? From the moment you step in, you're captivated to the art works, deco and and the whole entire layout. Amazing dishes on the menu and great teamwork from front of house to the kitchen staff. We'll try different dishes from the menu each time.
I had John Coltrane’s “What’s New?/Autumn in New York” in my ears while taking these photographs. This added a sultry quality to the already jazzy feel of this cafe. The light drizzle romancing the Saturday morning outside with wet kisses trickling down the tall French windows made me feel like I was a soul music video production. I also have to say, it wasn’t because Norah Jones was asking me to come away with her - a proposition I’d take in a heartbeat - it was because I felt like I’d just stepped through a portal into a place with many delightful on the menu and outside menu. For example, their towering surround speakers delightfully thrilled me with their serious attention to music.
I ordered an omelette Sammie and it was the most delicious breakfast I’ve had in a long while. Every bite had thrilling discoveries of herbs, feta cheese, basil pesto and a bit of beetroot coming in to join the soirée happening in my mouth. I have to note, having Norah Jones croon sweet nothings into my ear through the surround speakers - surround sound Norah is a goddess - could not compare to the love that was served on the plate in front of me on that surreal, wet Saturday morning in Cape Town.
I’ve found a new breakfast place for my morning routine.
