Review Rcaffe - Cape Town Central

From the moment you step inside of this lovely Cafe, you're captivated by the beautiful wall decor along with a line of pastries. This place is an instragrammer's dream come true to take photographs of the food and ambiance. Although the breakfast was fantastic (I had the breakfast croissant which tasted 's good as it looked) , the desserts didn't deliver for me. They were too sweet and felt a bit old. The apple strudel was cold, overpowered by brown sugar and Cinnamon where I couldn't even taste the apple. The baklava was nothing like a baklava (a bit stale and overpowered by the sweetness of the sauce) Other than those 2 things, I would highly recommend this place. I hope next time I would have a better dessert experience.

What's not to love about this place...? From the moment you step in, you're captivated to the art works, deco and and the whole entire layout. Amazing dishes on the menu and great teamwork from front of house to the kitchen staff. We'll try different dishes from the menu each time.

I had John Coltrane’s “What’s New?/Autumn in New York” in my ears while taking these photographs. This added a sultry quality to the already jazzy feel of this cafe. The light drizzle romancing the Saturday morning outside with wet kisses trickling down the tall French windows made me feel like I was a soul music video production. I also have to say, it wasn’t because Norah Jones was asking me to come away with her - a proposition I’d take in a heartbeat - it was because I felt like I’d just stepped through a portal into a place with many delightful on the menu and outside menu. For example, their towering surround speakers delightfully thrilled me with their serious attention to music. I ordered an omelette Sammie and it was the most delicious breakfast I’ve had in a long while. Every bite had thrilling discoveries of herbs, feta cheese, basil pesto and a bit of beetroot coming in to join the soirée happening in my mouth. I have to note, having Norah Jones croon sweet nothings into my ear through the surround speakers - surround sound Norah is a goddess - could not compare to the love that was served on the plate in front of me on that surreal, wet Saturday morning in Cape Town. I’ve found a new breakfast place for my morning routine.

A welcome personal touch and large, beautiful portions of food. The music here was one of the highlights - not too loud that you have to shout with your party but also loud enough to enjoy. Perfect balance, and the colours are gorgeous.

Great food, great atmosphere and great customer service! I was greeted on my way in and again when I entered. Maybe I was super hungry, but everything was delicious! Diverse group, very good experience! Definitely will go back

Loved this place, great vibe, music, coffee, cookies and service! I had already told 2 of my friends about the place before I had even paid my bill!

Wow, was looking for parking on long Street and discovered this awsome gem. Service and food is excellent. Good banting selection.

Faboulous food, good ingredients (lot of them italian too, but not tasted). The tuna wrap and the chicken wrap are very tasty! Very good quality food at a good price. The place is very beautiful.

The lady by the name Promise if I'm not mistaken she is an angel.. we bought some few items, then she took us to the Sightseeing Office to get our tickets as we asked for directions going there.. Thank You so much

Beautiful cafe in the heart of Cape Town! Everything is super fresh and homemade with love. And it tastes just as good as it looks! Their menu is creative and offers something different for everyone. Love the breakfast!

Friday French Toast Day... that’s totally a thing! Well on this Friday morning I wandered into RCaffe and was delighted to see French Toast on the menu, because that’s exactly what I wanted.

Wow!! From presentation to the flavour profiles on the plate, it was beyond amazing! Loved the confit tomatoes and balsamic glaze, it added the necessary sweetness to the French Toast without missing maple syrup. Mushrooms were perfectly seasoned! Bacon was yummy. The toast itself was gorgeous and paired perfectly with everything on the plate.

My brother had the breakfast quickie. He enjoyed it, but was not a fan of the seed loaf served with it.

I’d love to return here for lunch one day. The food is beyond amazing.

Ps. They automatically add a service charge. I only saw that after settling the bill with an additional tip. Cheeky waiter could’ve warned me.

Our first visit. Typical CBD, our breakfast was pretty and banti ng friendly, the service was quick. Missed my newspaper, though others were available. I Would suggest that if people of different languages eat here, and pay for the service, then a simple thing like a newspaper in that language does make a difference😃

I had a lovely breakfast here! I had no idea that it would be presented so well and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm not too sure about the prices, you can definitely get more in the CBD for the cost here.

A lovely little café where the food both looks and tastes gorgeous. Our breakfast sarmies and muffins were amazing and the cappuccinos and lattes were great.

We were looking for a breakfast place and stumbled past this awesome little restaurant. What a hidden gem. The food was delicious and clearly a lot of thought had gone into it. I was so impressed by the buzzing atmosphere and the great choice of food. Would definitely go back

I had Great food. The atmosphere was chilled. The flavors on the schinizel were incredible. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Wraps are very good. Service is fairly quick

This was the cafe that we have found and had breakfast by chance. The ambience and cosiness of the place were just perfect. We ordered some granola-fruit muesli and scrambled egg on toast, both were really delicious. The presentation of plate was artistic. Also, one can find variety of healthy snack options here, like oat muffins, low carb cakes etc. We really loved the place, people and foods - absolutely reccomendable one!

I love going to this place for breakfast. Especially in winter as they have a fireplace which is great. Food is good and the staff are friendly.

I WAS a great fan of this restaurant, but my support was always qualified. The roast chicken breast salad (R79) was so exceptionally delicious, that I was prepared to put up with average service, notwithstanding the addition of a compulsory 10% service charge to every bill (which is the restaurant policy, regardless of the number of diners).

However, today when I ordered the chicken salad, it was completely different: much smaller portion, far fewer salad leaves, no avocado. There was no explanation or apology.

Hence the score of 2.5/5. Simple. And they've lost a good customer and many recommendations.

Breakfasts here have traditionally been good, when you can get them... They have been incredibly slow on my past three visits. During the last one two week back, we left after our food (including a bowl of granola) didn't arrive for more than an hour. We enquired a couple times, and the ultimate time were told that the order had not been put through and we'd need to wait a further 20 min. We opted to leave. Thought it would have been nice for them to put our two coffees on the house, but nope - made us pay for them. A pity this once great place seems to be rapidly deteriorating because of bad management. Won't go back anytime soon.

Had breakfast at RCaffe and it was splendid. Atmosphere and decor is great, service was good, food was amazing and the coffee was even better! Will definitely be back!

Food okay, service bad. Were not made aware of the rise&shine specials and instead were offered drinks. Menu with specials only brought on request. Were eventually charged for drinks plus food even though specials would have covered both. Its a shame cos place looks good but will not go back. Service could have been friendlier as well.

I have been here a few times. The decor and location are really great. The barista does a good job too (and in CT the standards are high).
Unfortunately i will not be back, the manageress has no personality- at all. Almost rude. Plus i paid R40 for a slice of a carrot cake, but it was no more than 2cm wide. A royal rip-off!
Truth, Bean-There and Deluxe Coffee works are far better options. Pity, i'll miss R Caffe's carrot cake!

Fantastic decor and very efficient staff. Located on Long street, so if you're allergic to hipsters I advise that you take an antihistamine before heading in this direction. I feel very out of place without suspenders and a face jacket.
Food was great, a little pricey, but not too bad. Very strange mix of beautiful and quirky decor on the inside and a homeless dude hugging a baby car seat on the curb outside. That's Cape Town for you...

Came for breakfast in a large group. Service was quick and the food was lovely. They also make a variety of baked goods and are very banking friendly. Prices are a bit steep.

Wowoweewah! Excuse me for the dated Borat reference, but that is what immediately came to mind when I tried the smoked salmon penne at RCaffe. It was an hour before I got my first tattoo, so perhaps my taste buds overcompensated in anticipation of the pain. Doubt it though – it was bloody good. Excellent decor too.

Amazing atmosphere, amazing staff working there.

I can definitely recommend it as a perfect place to stop for coffee and breakfast in the mornings.

Parking is always a problem in Town. As I was walking quite far to do my business I decided to order something small off their menu, namely their scrambled eggs on toast with oven roasted cherry tomatoes. I also ordered a cappuccino freddo. The oven roasted cherry tomatoes were extremely tasty. The grinded black pepper kernels added to its flavour. The scrambled eggs were average at best. It definitely needs more flavour. Otherwise a satisfying meal. The cappuccino freddo was a bit weak and I could have done with a slightly bigger portion of it (ice was a bit much). Next visit (if I can find closer parking) I will try something more hefty. The vibe and service is excellent!! Love the music and art. A nice place to chat culture and books.

We stopped in for a quick coffee and will definitely be back! Service is amazing and the atmosphere is very cute as friendly. The breakfast sandwiches looked really delicious, so I think that we will try those soon!

To be honest I was not entirely impressed.

Everything on the menu sounds delicious and the portions are huge, but most times I'll choose quality over quantity. My breakfast was average and definitely nothing to rave about. I don't like that the omlettes are cooked in oil and not butter, it was also over cooked which made it dry. The scrambled eggs tasted watered down.

Service was completely average, the most annoying thing is that there was 1 waitress for the entire restaurant. Obviously this meant slow service. I'm not sure this is an every day thing.

The tables we really squished together, which made it so akward trying to get past people and I could see people were getting annoyed.

I think their food is over priced, even though the portions are big.

I love the decor, although it hasn't changed in about 3 - 4 years. We also found that It was a bit dark. I don't think I'll be back though

The atmosphere in this cafe is really cool. (View overlooking Longstreet) The decor is creative and beautiful to look at. I ordered a burger, the bun was tasy and fresh, and I was impressed by the flavours of all of the other elements. The waiters were very friendly and not intrusive at all.

This is a cosy little café which serves great breakfasts. It took more than 10 minutes to deliver our coffee but upon seeing how delicious my breakfast looked I forgot all about how long it took to get my coffee.
Really nice lunch spot when you're looking for something healthy and delicious. Really good portion sizes and they have a banting menu if you're on the diet. The butternut and feta quiche is a must!

The interior decor is fantastic but the coffee itself isn't quite on the same level as some of the other offerings in Cape Town. The cappuccino, macchiato and the person who helped us were a little more bitter than expected.

This is a nice long street Caffè. Service is VERY fast, and drinks are almost instant. Food took a standard amount of time and was very delicious and flavorful.
Howard Catling
Interior and food are fantastic but service is to be desired. Would not come here if I was starving!

Rcaffé has been for a long time a Long Street institution, serving coffee, health drinks, mouth watering breakfasts and lunch options to its diverse traffic since 2004, and even almost a decade later this coffee shop and eatery is still bang on trend and consistently improving its offering. “We’re bringing the letter ‘R’ alive,. The feel is bohemian and old school. The décor is mostly hand made and was created from recycled materials .Along with the décor overhaul, the baking has also been refined. The carrot cake is not to be missed. the flavor, infused with spice, is exotic. Also on offer is double chocolate cup cake, flowerless red velvet cake and baked cheese cake. Another drawcard is the real butter croissants baked fresh every morning which will transfer you to Paris and back. Passers-by can get them hot out of the oven when Rcaffé opens its doors at 6:30 in the morning (one of the only places on Long Street to do so). Breakfast at Rcaffe is served all day long. The breakfast menu is large and appetizing, from traditional fry-ups to more creative offerings, such as the scramble delight:delicious moist scrambled eggs on a seed loaf spread with s.d.tomato pesto, topped with avo slices and fresh rocket served with cream cheese and marinated cherry tomatoes and fresh basil or the Ricotta Omelette Sandwich: an omelette filled with herbs and ricotta cheese served in a herb ciabatta spread with pesto and filled with tomatoes, s.d tomatoes, fresh basil and rocket. The main meals are just as varied. For the not-so-hungry there are sandwiches and wraps, and for those with a more substantial appetite there’s lamb loins, Thai chicken curry, sirloin steak, and plenty more (check the daily specials board for the dish of the day). We’re also known for our meal-sized salads. Diners can choose between tempting options such as the L'entrecote Salad, which is rare roast beef salad with creamy avocado, or even the Gorgonzola Salad with caramelized pears and roasted almonds or roasted butternut and rocket salad with crispy bacon feta and pumpkin seeds. There’s fine wine to match this fine food too. The city centre café boasts an ever-changing list that incorporates some of the Cape’s best. Though, if wine isn’t your thing, try one of the cocktails—the Chi Chi, a blend of vodka, coconut and pineapple is delicious.
Whether you’re popping in for coffee and cake, or sitting down for a bang-up meal, the portions are extremely generous, so it’s a good place to come if you’re, you guessed it, feeling ravenous. Tip: Rcaffé is available to hire for fully catered functions. Bill: Reasonable prices and extremely good value for money.
