We spend our anniversary date here a week ago. It was not my first time visiting, but the greek lamb in phyllo pastry made a huge impression on me, I had to have it again.
My biggest issue was the fact that when we arrived, even though I had booked, we did not have a table prepared for us and when we were eventually seated, we were given a table with a very dirty table cloth, and no table setting laid. This was not very welcoming or inviting.
That being said, we had a lovely waiter who engaged us at all points during the evening, and food was really good, as expected.
This place is such a hidden gem! Delicious food, cozy, warm, romantic atmosphere, with a fireplace - lovely for a chilly evening! The service was excellent. Waiter was efficient, friendly, and made great suggestions. Had a lovely evening here. Really liked the warm atmosphere and good food, will be back to try more from the menu :) the pork belly is a must, the cheesecake was also delicious.
I loved the atmosphere and the food was great. Our waiter checked in on us and we weren't forgotten about even though it was quite busy. Overall good service and really great food.
Great atmosphere when looking for a warm place on a cold winter's evening in Cape Town. There were four of us. 2 of us had starters, the Camembert and the Sardines. Both were delicious. For main courses we ordered a steak, some lamb in pastry, the pork belly and the lamb shank. The latter was my choice. While the shank was extremely tasty, I must admit that I expected a bit more meat on the bone. There was lots of mash which however was a little bit too stiff for my taste. Out waiter was very efficient and friendly. So, in a nutshell: it was a very nice evening.
I loved the atmosphere and the fireplace is perfect for the cold nights. It feels like you are somewhere in the winelands minus the long drive.
Had a risotto and it was delicious and didn’t miss the meat at all. Service was great and our waiter knew the menu well. The pies are also made to order and you can be guaranteed freshness.
The only odd thing was that we were asked if we wanted bread. Can’t wait to get back for live music.
After craving chocolate fondant and finding out that el burro is closed on Sundays, I turned to google to find other places who served the dessert. Happened upon this restaurant and the zomato reviews were pretty good.
To start we shared the mushroom tart served with a small side salad, this was extremely fresh and had just the right balance of cheese. I could’ve easily eaten five more by myself. Then I had the sirloin and chips pub lunch (R75) which was served with homemade Mc Donald’s type fries & lightly basted in a bbq sauce. The “knock off” Tabasco sauce they have fully hits the chilli spot. Zen had the fish and chips pub lunch (R75) which was lightly battered with wonderfully crispy bits.
To end off I had the fondant, served with orange sorbet. The fondant was an extreme let down, it could’ve done with five more minutes in the oven. The outer shell was hardly cooked and the inside was cold, thick and sludgy, not at all like the warm velvety liquid you expect. The sorbet was a refreshing take, as most fondants I’ve had are served with vanilla ice cream. This added a much needed freshness to the dish and cut through the thick sludge with ease. The white chocolate cheesecake on the other hand was a total win. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the baked cheesecake is smooth and not super sweet. The perfect way to end of a good meal.
The restaurant itself is a hidden gem, and I always wondered what was at the end of the road near the river club. I will be back for the pocket friendly pub lunch but will definitely opt for the cheesecake next time around.
A wonderful quaint restaurant that really does feel like you are out in the country and worlds away from the bustle of Cape Town and Observatory. Food and service was impeccable. I had the risotto and the rest of my table had the chicken curry which they said was delicious. Kids menu options available. A greet family or date restaurant!
Went for my birthday dinner, everyone enjoyed their meals, very sweet waitress, food is good value for your money, and very pretty location. Will definitely go back again
We love Wild Fig and go there often. Wish there were more veggie options, but the Ratatouille bake is a winner! Great wine selection 👌🏾 great service.

Went there again tonight, 3d time this year and was blown away! They had a goats cheese panna cotta with beet coulis as a special, say whaaaat! We are healthy eaters, so this was a nice treat. Something that can be eaten as a dessert AND starter. The Fairview Extrano is ALWAYS a winner! Fantastic service with a flair 🙌🏽

---Entertainer Accepted--- This was a lovely experience trying something different, way out of my comfort zone, and gosh did I enjoy it, lovely to sit outside but best not go on a windy day sitting inside is wonderful but you won't be able to experience the true beauty and nature around the wild. Went as a table of 6 all meals were different, and nobody within that 6 nobody had a single complaint, with regards to anything, I had the spicy chorizo and chicken pasta, and it seems like the portions are small but you will be mistaken, my friend was so impressed with the pork belly he was willing to share and it was phenomenal, it is with regret that I cannot compliment my waitress she was simply the best, she made us feel comfortable and welcomed, would definitely advise everybody to make time to visit the fig
lovely venue, peaceful and tranquil, with a very good selection on the new menu. I inadvertently left my shoulder bag on the chair when we left and retrieved it thanks to management the next day. Sadly an item had been removed. none the less the food is superb. Highly recommended.
I ordered the crispy duck while my friend had the lamb shank. On the day, my duck was overcooked, and the manager offered any other dish on the menu. I then also opted for the lamb shank, which was absolutely delicious. The service was really outstanding. When the bill arrived, management did not charge me for my lamb shank, which was most thoughtful and welcome. I'd highly recommend The Wild Fig and would certainly return there.
Nice atmosphere for a summer afternoon if you want somewhere with outdoor seating. Smoker-friendly. Opted for the fish and chips and it did not dissappoint, albeit heftier prices than a typical lunch spot. Brilliant service, will be happy to go back
Great atmosphere/vibe. But of a schlep to get to during peak traffic times though. Good views of a club and food/drink choices if you want to wait for traffic to ease up
Lovely setting, nice food, lamb ragout was very tasty but the 3 or 4 small bones spoiled it a bit, almost broke a tooth, still a great place with a nice selection of dishes and friendly staff, worth a visit.
JULY2023: OK, I've added a 4th star, was there this evening, and both my starter (baked camembert) and my main (butter chicken curry) were great. Curry was mild and tasty and the basmati rice was excellent! Service was great too!

Their outdoor sitting is the best for a group.
Restaurant perfect for the night out and day sittings..
I loved it
It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere especially for the summer months and the vibe is very easy.
This is not a place you come to to rush - it facilitates a nice long slow lunch and chats with friends.
There's outdoor and indoor seating, access for wheelchair users, and neat and clean bathrooms.
It's not fine dining, but the rustic envionrment is well-hidden away and they seem to serve a regular crowd.
Food is good and well-prepared, though some might find the speed of service a bit lacking. Drink selection cold be improved, but overall, nothing that harms the experience.
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at “the wild fig restaurant” this past Monday and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for the evening.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the exquisite cuisine. We ordered the butter chicken and lamb shank, and each dish was a culinary masterpiece. The butter chicken was rich and right amount of spice made it more flavourful, while the lamb shank was so succulent it practically melted in our mouths.
Chef Abi, greeted us and offered us the wild fig cake making it the perfect ending to our meal. Our whole dining experience was truly elevated by the personal touch from Chef Abi himself. He took the time to come to our table and inquire our experience.
We will surely visit again.
Cozy Restaurant, great service with top class food, beautifully prepared.
A delightful afternoon in a beautiful setting. The patio evokes a wine farm atmosphere right here in Obs, with stunning views of the mountain. The food and service was excellent.
