Review Posticino - Cape Town Central

Malcolm Freeman
Pizza was incredible. Really light and this base with good toppings the resturant itself is a bit of a warren of rooms that seem quite disjointed. Overall a decent experience and the staff managed large tables relatively well. The outdoor section is lovely but wind and umbrellas cause issues.
Simona Marinkova
We enjoyed a dinner there, the food was delicious and authentic. The service is fast and friendly, and attentive. Definitely recommend this place!

Went for a lovely surprise while in Sea Point. We received a loving welcome full of smiles on entry, and the vibe of the space was great. Delicious food overall, especially the pasta! We had the honour of sitting next to a birthday table, so when the birthday girl came in, we of course sang Happy Birthday in Afrikaans along with the group...so special. Great service and awesome energy from the team at Posticino. Many thanks for the memorable eve. Will be back when in the area. Molte grazie! Take care til next time...

Synjon Laubscher
Had one of the most amazing pizzas here last night, lovely atmosphere and great service. I'd recommend this place for a date night.
Keshvir “Kash” Tugh
Great pizza, good service and a nice place to have a seat outside on a sunny day
Alyssa Lynne Photography
I ate here twice while in Cape Town with my husband. The pasta is delicious and tastes very authentic like Italy!
Delia Biljon
What an amazing experience. My wife and I had our first dinner with you and we loved it. Once they found out we had recently gotten married that were truly hospitable. Lia took care of us and did a fantastic job. I 10/10 waitress. Lia makes a huge effort for us. We will be back!
Anthony Burton
Nice little restaurant with an open air seating area. Friendly staff who know all the menu options. Food is great, I had pizza and red wine. Will definitely be back.

If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, look no further. Every dish was delicious, full of flavor and just the right portion size. Very affordable prices. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be dining here again.

What an amazing gem, The staff was so friendly and helpful. Service was very quick, and our pizza was amazing. I can definitely recommend giving them a try.
Tyron Long
An epic gem of a place. Authentic Italian as it gets. Epic service. Cost and intimate, but humble vibes, with a very intimate personality. Lack of pretentiousness that seeps into other Cape Town spots. The pizza and past is superb!

Excellent choice for Italian! Service was good, but drinks were too long on the table empty! Otherwise a fabulous choice for a true Italian meal. Meat lasagna was served in a ceramic dish and not just a slice, which very much satisfied my Husband! Calamari was perfectly grilled and served nicely warm. Veal Parmesan was delicious and the spaghetti accompaniment with the Aurora was a very good choice. Their sangria was notable very good. The gin and tonics were also very nice. The table was inside by a window and a view of the tele for those rugby enthusiasts. Very enjoyable atmosphere and definitely a go to for Italian cuisine!!

Friends of mine have always talked about this place and I can confirm, it lived up to the hype😀 Great Atmosphere, service and food! Well done!

10/10🌟's! This is my 2nd home! Posti is my happy place! I am a creature of habit, so my Panna Pizza, Greek salad with a Focaccia or Mexican Pizza, are my soul foods that I crave! Amazing staff and fantastic atmosphere. 🍕😋

Had a fantastic meal on a Saturday afternoon. The gnocchi in the basil pesto and arribiata sauces were really good, and the portions were generous. Will definitely visit again
Paul Ian Uren
Packed on a Tuesday, which says a lot! Great atmosphere & amazing authentic Italian food!! I had the Wild mushroom & asparagus ravioli with a puttanesca sauce, didn’t disappoint, one of the best meals I’ve had here in South Africa, friendly staff, would highly recommend 🍝🍕🇮🇹 Paul, Manchester, England

My calamari was inedible today. Waitress never asked how the food was. When I returned my plate still full of calamari she didn't ask if there was a problem. Just gave us the bill. My husband had pizza and it was excellent. But calamari, couldn't eat it!
Graham Thomas
Atrocious. Waited 35 minutes for starters which still never appeared. Waitress disinterested I didn’t even want to leave money for the wine. Wasn’t even that busy. Totally rubbish. Cross off the list!
Samantha Durkin
Blandest carbonara with too much sauce. Bland and oily ammatriciana pasta. Maybe a better place to order pizza?
Sava Michaelides
Food was great, service so so, value for money. Great evening until our waiter asked us to leave as we were the last patrons there 10:30pm 🤔
Helen Acriviadis
Great food, great ambiance and good service. To top it off - homemade chocolate cake on the house for my daughter's birthday. Will definitely see you again
Elizabeth von Hollstein
Always the best pizzas plus my son left his Samsung S6 edge on an outside table with cards and IDs belonging to both him and his girlfriend plus 2 pkts of cigarettes and a lighter. He was contacted on Facebook by the manager and we collected everything today...soooooo incredibly relieved and grateful
Jeff Murray
After many years of frequenting the Sea Point establishment, never have I encountered such a rude waitress. Pity we never got her name. Totally disgusted with her attitude. She shouldn't be working in the service industry.
Elizabeth Craig
Best Authentic Italian food in CAPE TOWN. Brilliant service and very reasonable prices. I absolutely adore this place!
Dirk Visser
I can never get enough of the food!! Great service and pleasant experience always!
Silvia Mota-de Sousa
My husband really enjoyed his veal. The pizza was great. Only thing I would critic is, we had to move twice and still the table didn't balance. Will be back!
Michelle-Lee Fourie
Food was good, service was poor and could do with a good cleaning and some new table cloth. Could go back if I had to.
Sally Burger
Friendly calm atmosphere, we all had pizza in different toppings and not one of us were disappointed.... highly recommended!!
Ravi Kumar
amazing food, very good and friendly service, must try pepperoni pizza
Martene Esteves
Super groovy pasta and pizza! Super consistent, so it’s no surprise they’ve been around for years :) great vibe and friendly service, highly recommended!

Mamma Mia! This restaurant could teach Italy how to make pizza! (I've been there)

Vegetarian & Non Vegetarian something for everyone.

Thin base, not dry! Deliciousness

Pasta, huge variety

Salad, huge variety

We usually get carried away and order too much.

They have a wine list, the only missing ingredient is a cocktail menu.

Well done!

Nicholas_Jon_D
LOVE the food here, very good.
The atmosphere is lacking for me, as it is not a spacious restaurant. However the one in Hout Bay doesn't lack space.
Jordan Hannah
I have eaten here twice and both times I ordered the butternut pansotti with arrabiata sauce. The butternut pansotti is delicious however I wouldn’t mind a bit more chilli in the sauce as it was quite mild. Overall it’s a lovely place for dinner.
Olaf
Authentic Italian cuisine, calamari starter tasty, pasta great, veal average, didn’t taste the pizza but they look good, big down side this joint needs a massive clean up, white table clothes dirty and tired, thank goodness for the brown paper disposable table liners, chairs and tables done their time, this restaurant in desperate need of a makeover
Gemma Northing
Walked in and was kindly welcomed. I love the location of the restaurant. However to be honest the food was so so. Some of it was delicious and other meals were not so satisfying. It was the seafood pasta that put me off. I understand that it is a seafood pasta but it just left a taste in my mouth that was not so nice. I would go back, I just won’t be rushing back.
Louise
The service let them down! I met a friend for dinner on 30/12 and while it is in season if they’re busy they simply need to get more staff. I was about ten minutes early and the place wasn’t full. I had to stand around waiting for the full ten minutes for someone to come and clean the table no one offered me an alternative table and so I was like a crazy stalker standing watching the dinners at the tables next to mine. I had to ask for the drinks menu which is a huge board it was put on my friends chair who had to then remove it because our waiter brought my drink but forgot to remove his board. The pizza was tasty but honestly the bad service made me love it less. Maybe my Joburg persona came out but Trabella Illovo, 86 Public or even Coalition can teach these guys about getting the food and service right
O-Mizu Satori
Some great pizza, very tasty and the tiramisu is light, yet flavourful and not overly drenched in liqueur.
The only partial down side was the waitress - she is efficient, but somewhat too much in a rush and on a mission which gives a person some sense of anxiety.
Jody Vd Heyde
What a lovely restaurant! My partner and I went there around 2 on a Sunday afternoon and I was surprised to find it wasn't full at all. We were served promptly and we hardly waited for our drinks!
They have a very extensive menu, there's definitely something for everyone. Our pizza's were delicious. The place was warm and cozy - good choice for a cold winter day. The only thing I didn't really like was that it's a bit cramped but other than that, we'll definitely go back again!
Aishapaedia
Authentic Italian!!! If you’re looking for a heartwarming experience then visit this lovely restaurant. We had focaccia (it was so good we only left one slice left), Arabiatta and their chocolate cake! The service is impeccable with every staff member including the owner welcoming you to make sure you have a good time!

Arrived with 3 of my friends for dinner without a reservation. We were happily assisted and seated.

Knowing that I without a doubt wanted a pizza, I wasn’t however sure if I wanted a plain margherita or the chicken liver pizza. Now they do not do half and half’s. And I just don’t understand why not! But I tried my luck to see if they could do half of both - besides every pizza starts off being a margherita and I’m giving the chef half the work as he only had to place toppings on the one half.

The waitress was hesitant and stated she would check with the chef. When the pizza arrived, the one half was the spicy chicken livers and the other half the margherita with a dash of chili and loads of onion for good measure. Well I guess the chef tried.

The base is really good. The chicken liver pizza was yummy. But the margherita half was just bizarre.

I have my favourite pizza places in town. And this is not one of them. At least they have paper straws.
GEONHEE KIM
Sea Point people’s favorite!

They have been there for ages! whenever I want to have pizza, I won’t think twice. It gets very very busy in summer although relatively quiet in winter.(as always in cape town)

If you are meaty lover, order Mexicana pizza, if you love light pizza Al greco is sooo nice as well!
My go to pasta is puttanesca - they are just full of deliciousness!

They deliver through Mr.D, but because of the crazy mark up in the app, I normally just go eat there or collect by myself.

Best.Pasta.Ever.

Wife and I had some amazing times and have gone down to Cape Town to visit; multiple times :)

Wine menu is really amazing, and simple. Fair price and great food!
I am always super excited whenever I go to Posticino. Two blocks away from home and where my husband took me for our first date 3 years ago. The food is fantastic. Scrumptious pizzas and pastas. Delicious everytime. And seriously well priced for the Italian decadence you get. Great service. Gioacchino always greets with warmth and welcoming everytime we (or any patron of his) enter his doors. Authentic, beautiful italian cuisine and a homely and romantic ambiance. We love it everytime and leave smiling with happy tummies.
Bravo!
Sam Corcoran
This cozy little restaurant has become our go to date night spot. We love everything about this place - the service is amazing and the food is incredible! I highly recommend their focaccia and spaghetti Neapolitana. Their portion sizes are also super generous. Cannot fault this gem ❤️
Randy
Visited for good pizza after reading reviews. Would say it's par with colcacchio and a bit better than butler's but nothing special.
Service though efficient wasn't friendly and more like a chore. Worth a visit? Yes, but not a second. Average value for money. Mostly rated low for unhappy waitress right off the bat.
Amy Wardle
We had a lovely evening here, it was warm and cozy. The table we were given was a bit in the way and the floor boards moved whenever someone walked past but it ended up being fun and had an authentic Italian feel. We had a medium Caprese salad to start, which was delicious. For main we both had pastas, these were great. Dessert, my partner had the peppermint crisp tart that he loved. The food came really quickly but our waitress wasn’t very friendly. I assume it was because the restaurant was packed and she was a bit stressed.
Nihal Jhavary
The food was exceptionally good as I was looking for authentic Italian. I only wish a little that I didn’t feel like I was out of place with the stares and slightly odd treatment from the waiters and waitresses.
Haydn Gouldie
Most authentic Italian in Cape Town! Fantastic pizzas and a lovely quaint, homely setting! The owner is just the bomb dignity and the prices are most reasonable!
Sumendra Chetty
Posticino is one of the few restaurants located on Seapoints busy main road that I’d actually recommend without the fear of noise. There’s something very calming and homely about this spot. Staff are super friendly, check on guests and offer suggestions. We’ve been a few times and never been turned away even when this place is quite full they seem to care about every single customer. The menu is huge! So many options we tried the salmon pizza which was absolutely delicious, light and big enough for two: the wine list is also good :) I can see why it’s always so busy- awesome food, great wine and fantastic staff!
Adam Hunter
Best pizza since my childhood days and still going strong! The gluten free pizza matched with a salad makes a good healthy touch and the outdoor courtyard is great for summer dining.
Yajna Gold
I just love postist! Delicious chicken parmesan, pizzas and ravioli. The salads are great to order as a side too and do not forget to have some sangria!
Nooru Harnekar
Great service and even better pizza.
We really enjoyed a quick Saturday lunch at this spot. It’s been there for a while and it’s good to know that the quality has not altered. Thumbs up from me!
Supervundu
Old school. Great pizza. A regular take away option when we're driving through the hood and don't feel like cooking. Recommend you try it at least once, if not twice.
Lisa Elizabeth
Love this place. Friendly staff, gorgeous meals and good value for money. Try the ravioli, it's delicious! By far one of the top Italian places in Cape Town.
Daina Dainz Jackson
I phoned and booked here for dinner for my boyfriends birthday. I pre ordered a starter platter and wine to be ready for when we arrive. We arrived and the service was wonderful, speedy and friendly and the lady remembered everything I asked for. We never had to ask for anything it was such a lovely experience and he even got a free piece of amazing chocolate cake at the end.
We both had a pasta the food came really quickly and was amazing!

Thank you for the pleasant experience it was so lovely.
Leah Linda Angel
While it is peak season so I get that it’s busy but our waitress was terrible. Brought our starter and only when we asked did she think to bring cutlery. She was never around to order and when we did order it never arrived. My food was so salty that it wasn’t enjoyable. Took forever to get the bill and when we did finally get it- the card machine took even longer to come that eventually we just went inside to pay. Disappointing night!
Liz Hartley
We keep going back because it has never disappointed. Although we hadn't booked, the very cheerful, welcoming maitre 'd showed us to the bar where we ordered an excellent, well-priced Sauvignon Blanc and after five minutes he showed us to a table on the patio. The friendly waitress explained the menu and made recommendations. I ordered spinach and ricotta ravioli and she recommended the aurora sauce which complimented it perfectly. The servings arrive hot and are very generous. My husband had puttinesca with penne and was delighted. We started with a shared medium caprese salad. The ambience is good because it is always pretty packed and the staff's enthusiasm is contagious.
Value for money included, we highly recommend Posticino and will always go back.

Had a lovely meal here with some great tasting pizza! Nice relaxed atmosphere and great vibe. In the hussel and bussel of Seapoint Cape Town.
Dr.jafferhuseinsura
We found this place on sea point during our travels to Capetown..
Small, cosy, really helpful staff. Great pizza and some wonderful Al dente pasta.
Nice ambience as well.
It was a godsend to sit inside in the cold windy night.
It was a very good experience to eat here.
David Wolpert
Last night was our first ever visit there. It is a real gem.
The place was humming yet the staff coped very well.
The food was excellent.Portions are hearty and pricing is very reasonable. We will place this fine eatery on our list of regular restaurants whenever we visit Cape Town in future.
Carrie-Anne Lones
This is your perfect Italian family restaurant. I recommend the marinara linguini with an Aurora sauce any day. Their pizza is delicious too
Ross Findlay
Love this place, amazing food every time I've been, service is amazing & always friendly. Came for my birthday & enjoyed the evening at Posticino
Stuart M
Visited this establishment on Friday and was pleasantly surprised to find it rather full inside - and we were still accommodated despite it being really busy on a Friday night. The service, however, was suboptimal and not as attentive as many people have intimated. Once seated, we waited a while in order for drinks to be ordered - when they arrived (we ordered hot drinks), they were lukewarm. The food, however, was actually as many people have described as authentic as best and portions were generous.

I would probably return to this establishment if the service that patrons receive is improved.
Ajinkya Kale
Some lovely pizza and at very reasonable rates. The service is quick and the owner is very courteous. They have pasta options as well. Do try.
Rachel Lowick
Lovely family restaurant with a busy bustling atmosphere. The restaurant was completely full and the service was good and the gnocchi was delicious; I completely recommend it. Great value for money!
Jaryd Kay
This is a great warm & cozy Italian restaurant to eat at during Winter. We were greeted by our waiter to be and seated soon after. It took a bit of hassle to get served initially but service improved greatly. The waitress was good with recommendation and knew the menu well. We had baked four cheese penne pasta which was rich and delicious. We also had a salami and veggie pizza which was perfect. The chilli, garlic and parmesan side was plentiful and fresh as well. Awesome evening for a relatively well priced dinner.
Aqeelah Hassim
Delicious, flavourful, authentic Italian cuisine!😍 thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and service was very attentive too. I had the Gnocchi Aurora and Tiramisu for dessert, which tasted so similar to the one I had in 🇮🇹👌
Danieljake
Authentic, thin base Italian pizza – the way it should be!

I ordered the spinach and ricotta cannelloni which was absolutely delicious. So full warm and full of flavour.

My brother and father had pizza which was watery, thin-based and packed with Italian flavour.

I had the tiramisu which was rich and delightful and loaded with that espresso taste.

Highly recommend posticino for an authentic Italian experience.
Anthony Strydom
Definitely a must for pre-Two Oceans runners. Good for the carbo-loading as the pastas are fantastically tasty. Restaurant can be a bit hectic and overflowing. Impacts on the time it takes to get your meal. But not too bad overall.
Alexis Schaffler
It's just the best. Busy, sure, but for a reason. It is real and comfortable. Pizzas are amazing . Great wine list. Great service. They know what they are doing. And it's just the best.
Kezia Swanepoel
Living in Sea Point means Postis is always a staple. I do understand people's frustration with the craziness that comes with peak season but I really do love their pizza too much. It's great value for money and when it is too busy or I am keen for pizza in bed, there's always order for pickup.

When you do go there for a meal, the outside is just perfect for a long lazy lunch or sundowner dinner. Not only that, but their wine list is great and they have sangria! Their pastas are bit hit n miss for me but here are the highlights:

Starters:
Melanzane or grilled mushrooms

Pizza:
- Panna
- Funghineri
- Porchetta (add feta)

Dessert:

The Cassata!
Natalie Lazaris
My staple diet when I visit Cape Town. It brings back so many memories. It was packed, full of seated and take away guests all laughing, and enjoying. That must say something. The food is consistent and fresh. Try the Panna or Posticino pizza, yummy!!
Lenita Johan
We ate supper here. It was quite busy but luckily we had made a reservation in advance. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a plate of pasta (Al Gracie). Unfortunately it took a lil more than an hour for the food to get to us, and when It arrived, the food was average. The base of the pizza is thin and crispy. The toppings are just enough not generous but at the same time not flavorful. The pasta was not saucy (as informed by the waiter) or well seasoned. I guess we were expecting much more after all the positive reviews. On a positive note we loved their coffee milkshake. The waiters were assuring. If they manage to push food out quicker and maybe tweak their flavors we may be back.
Stephanie McCabe
My husband took me to Posticino's on our first date. To be honest, I can't remember what I ate, but I do remember drinking too much wine and being so nervous that I took an hour to finish my food. Since then, we've gone back to this restaurant so many times that I've lost count - we even went there straight after our wedding, dress, suit, and all.

Anyway. On to the important stuff.

The value for money at this place is unmatched by any other place we've been to, and in tight times such as these, a meal that I don't have to cook myself (that I can afford) is a blooming godsend. The portions are huge (which is very important if you're anything like me or my husband) and the flavours are incredible. I regularly find myself in a quandary about what to eat because I want to eat everything on the menu. The Fungineri with extra blue cheese and bacon nearly always wins, but the pasta is rocking too. This is not sexy food; this is the kind of food that you could take home to your mother. It's dependable, solid, warm and big, and we absolutely love it. The kitchen is also super flexible - think Build a Bear but with pasta.

Every time we've been here, the service has been excellent, and that's not just because I'm super nice. The staff (in particular, our besties Cara and Stef) are incredibly friendly and obliging, and the atmosphere of this place is brilliant. It's like having dinner with family (the happy kind), and it brings us back time and time again.

I'm sure people reading this review are gonna say things like 'Boet, you crazy, no restaurant could be that perfect, my expectations are bound to go up in flames like an Nkandla rondavel' - well, of course it can't be, but I think if the Good Lord himself decided to come down and have a pizza and a glass of wine (if He was partial to that sort of thing), He'd pick this place. He'd even bring His own wine if he felt like it, because the corkage is super reasonable too (R40 the last time we went).
David McGlashan
Love this little spot. It's not high-end mind you but I find that I get an enjoyable meal with a decent glass of wine without being ripped off.

I find the pizza to be pretty good. If you are in the area and want some Italian it's a good bet without driving to Woodstock.

Tracy Skellern
Pizza wasn't bad but really not great. The base is fairly tasteless and I won't be rushing back. Also found a huge piece of charcoal on my pizza! I ordered a cappuccino whilst waiting for my take away and ot was terrible. Boiling hot with almost no foam. More like bad coffee and milk. The place also looks really dirty and I was dying to give it a good scrub!
Jonathan Petersen
Terrible service, was told on arrival not to order starters as they had a big table coming in. Alternatively if we wished to have starters they would be brought with mains.

Sat right next to the kitchen door, being knocked every few minutes. When asked if we could be moved the answer was no.

Ingredients missed out of dishes and when pointed out delivered 30minutes later separately.

Dino
We tried posticino in season, needless to say it was overflowing and the service was a bit shoddy, it seemed like everything was falling apart at the seems. They brought out one main course and the. 45 mins later they brought out the rest of the main courses. Owner/manager was very apologetic and we understood, it's peak season and they were having a nightmare. Having said that, the pizza was delicious, but I probably wouldn't go there on a busy night in peak season as it's not worth the frustration.
Bryan Vally
Posticino's isn't the most modern establishment in town, but it may be unrivaled in value for money. My dinner here was one of the most reasonable meals I've had and the pizza was very enjoyable as well. I would highly recommend Posticino's for a chilled dinner with friends anytime and would gladly return.
Francesca Favero
Posticinos has been around for quite some time now and it really is a consistently great place. Their pasta is good, but the ultimate pizza winner here is their Focaccia Caprese - so simple, but done so well.
Graeme Bunce
Three of us went for dinner Sunday evening on the spur of the moment. All three of us had tasty meals. I think I had the best meal out of all three of us. My pasta with meat balls (cannot remember the actual name) was hearty, warm and filling! In fact I would go as far to say that it was one of the best pastas I've had in a long long time! I'm definitely coming back just to eat this dish again!
Jager Sisters
Bustling and vibrant restaurant with very good food. I had a fantastic veg pizza (olives, asparagus and mushrooms) whilst my boyfriend enjoyed a creamy chicken and bacon pasta. The pizza base was nice and thin with crispy edges and super tasty. Overall we loved it.
Amy Mcwilliams
Note to self never go to a pizza place for breakfast even if they advertise. Place was dead and food took ages..that says it all. Wouldn't ever go back for breakfast and buying New table cloths without oil stains and faded dye is a must.
Nicole Zetler Shapiro
Went to postincino on Monday evening. Although the food was tasty, I wouldn't go so far to say that it's the best Italian food around - not as good as the hype.

We initially had a young, inexperienced waiter who did not know anything and was in over his head. Eventually got a great waiter who was highly efficient and knew his stuff - so he redeemed that aspect.

Food wise, lovely crispy focaccia (although I have had better) and everyone enjoyed their meals (mainly pasta). I had the butternut ravioli which was very nice.

Good prices and value with a cosy atmosphere. Overall good, but not as mind blowing as people say.
Chloe Igo
We were disappointed with our dinner at Posticino last night. My pizza (garlic, chilli, mushrooms, olives and literally an entire green pepper) was quite bland and I ended up scraping off the pepper. We shared a greek salad which wasn't authentic at all- tons of iceberg lettuce, huge slices of watery tomato, thin (about 5) slices of cucumber, cheap feta and olives. The service was pretty slow, and we had to wait a while for the bill. Maybe the Hout Bay branch would be a better choice next time.
Mikaela
Posticino's is a cute Italian restaurant with a cozy fire and friendly service. The pizza bases are crisp and the toppings are delicious. Posticino also have a kind of build your own pasta which is really cool.
Ryan Goodman
Still one of my favourite pizza restaurants in Cape Town. Their premises may have expanded over the years, and now they can also be found in hout bay and Spar Supermarkets, but the passion, mayhem and gees is still the same. We had the Greco pizza and lasagna, both were awesome!
Karl-Heinz Sittlinger
Very good food. I had a special request (ask for the veal masala chopped up in a pasta with sauce) and it was executed to perfection. Waiters are fast and helpful, with no problems helping each other out in a pinch.

I pretty much guarantee good food and good service here.
Sereshan Pillay
Simple restaurant serving authentic Italian food. They also serve Amaretto which was great! My only complaint is the awful table I received, set in a dingy corner due me only requiring a table for two.
Heinrich Du Toit
Good food and great variety. Didn't know what to pick even.
Friendly people
Nice quaint atmosphere
Very nice choc cake
Parking less nice. But with it.
Def worth it
St John Grimbly
Posticino's has a relatively unsurprising reputation for being a restaurant that churns out delicious Italian cuisine at an affordable cost in the Sea Point area. I've had both salad and various types of their pizzas - all of which have been great. Their pizzas are fresh, thin based, with little charring of the crust - which of course is personal preference, however is authentic. A personal favourite is their chicken and avocado pizzas - separate, or even better, together.
A good expectation would be to call it an
uncommercial Col'Cacchio's - which is a complement. I rely on their consistent quality often, and I hope that it remains that way.
80%.
Conrad Asman
Such an amazing meal! A quaint setting tucked in the neighbourhood of Sea Point. I had the Gnocci, which we well cooked with a soft, beautiful texture. The sauce was also wonderful. The Chilli! Yoh! The rest of the table seriously enjoyed their pizzas, too.

A fantastic resturant, at a wonderful, affordable price.
Nikita Cloete
Not sure what the fuss is about, I went to try Posticino's which in my opinion was a real let down. The service was utterly slow to non existent. My partner and I both ordered pasta which was tasteless (I had to add tons of garlic, salt & pepper), not to mention how filthy the place looked with worn out decor. Won't be back!
Lisa Van Vuuren
Great, simple Italian food. Super atmosphere. Still the best pizza in Cape Town in my opinion! The veal also highly recommended. Love coming here every time.
Charné
Loved this place! The food was so delicious and the service was good@. My boyfriend had the 4 cheeses sauce and it was really well balanced and delicious. I had the tomato sauce with the ravioli and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had a dessert pizza with Nutella and banana. I'd recommend sharing that, it was super rich (and they're very generous with the nutella). Overall one of the Italian places I like the most in Cape Town.
Desiré Crowther
Disgustingly dirty tables and disorganized outside at the entrance. At 16:15 approx. Waited long for bill and credit card machine. Food was average. Ordered more fresh tomatoes for salad never got them . Can clearly see, the owner was not present. Sadly, we will not return.
Wez_Undercover
Very nice little spot with a lekker vibe. But the pizzas weren't the best I've ever had, missed seasoning but the prices are decent and it's a nice place to chill with some mates.
Andrew MacGregor
Eaten here many times. Including for my birthday. They never fail with their recipe in service and great authentic Italian food.

Perfect environment. Summer and winter. Vibe. Good food. Perfect hosts. Just great.

So happy we decided to come here. We all felt like some Italian food and after researching where to go we decided to try this place as the reviews were all excellent. Well, this place did not disapoint! We walked in to a lovely cosy restaurant with a fire going which was perfect in this weather and a real authentic Italian feel. The owner was very accommodating and even shakes his guests hands when they enter. Their pizzas are beautiful and crispy and their alfredo and canneloni was divine! Real authentic Italian food! We loved the quick service and will definitely be back!

Ahh, to be greeted by the smell pizza baking in a wood fire and a warm smile on a rainy Friday afternoon! Four of us had an early dinner and everyone rated it top notch. The Arrabiata had enough chilli; the Olive and black mushroom with spaghetti was appreciated and the pizza base was crispy as requested. Credit to our waitress who checked on us regularly, but never rushed us while we were nattering away. She was sincerely friendly and thanked us for her tip which was unexpected and quite refreshing. By the time we were leaving, this local favourite restaurant of 18 years was buzzing with guests, always a good sign.

What an extremely disappointing lunch we had at Ristorante Posticino. The outside of the restaurant has a lovely Parisian feel on sidewalk eating but the inside is derelict and needs a good makeover.
I had Spinach and Feta Canalloni which was tasty, my spouse a salmon salad which was enjoyed. One of our guests had a good lasagna but the two who had ravioli dishes were very disappointed. For an authentic Italian restaurant it was surprising to receive commercial ravioli not hand made on site. They both described it as inedible cardboard.
I would not be drawn back. A disappointing experience.

I've been here a couple of times and absolutely love the homey feel and authentic Italian setting. There are a couple of fireplaces which make it cosy on a cold night. The service is always attentive.

For me, the highlight is always the pizza. Wood fired, thin, crispy slices of heaven. They have only a few vegetarian options but they are sufficient. Most recently we tried the ravioli which was good but not exceptional.

Overall, cosy and homey spot for amazing wood fired pizza. Definitely recommend it.

I walked in to this cramped but homie restaurant with zero expectations as I've only heard of it once or twice; but since my girlfriend and I live a few steps away we decided to try it. Although it may not have your luxurious view of the ocean or a service of a ten star hotel; what it does have is character and a spectacular chef. This place took me to a Tuscany and back in just an hour. If it had to be situated by the sea, I would have believed that I was in Italy. It does get loud but that is the point of friendly, homie places such as that; for people to sit back, relax and enjoy their pasta. The food is 'magnifico'! This place deserves its praise just because they were able to keep it a home where people gather and enjoy each others company. Thank you Posticino.

A wonderful italian restaurant that makes you feel like you are in Italy. We were a large group but service was great. The food however was more than great. It was amazing. I ordered the gnocchi with a recommend al fresco sauce. It was to die for. Writing this, I am craving more of it. The portion was so big I could not finish it (which was heartbreaking). I will definitely be back!

A true staple on the Atlantic Seaboard. Brilliantly consistent, Italian made and managed. Highly recommended. Great for take out, and dining on the veranda. Not the best views, but good pizza and pasta :)

We often visit Ristorante Posticino as its a favourite amongst our friends. A lovely setting that is homely. Last night there was a big group of us that ordered a variety of dishes some include the ravioli, pizza, and gnocchi. All were thoroughly enjoyed. The food is always fresh and delicious.
For dessert we had the chocolate cake with a hot chocolate sauce over it - wow!! Heaven. The highlights were the mushroom ravioli, butternut ravioli and the chicken pizza.

Absolutely delicious. The seafood pizza was scrumptious. The perfect base. The pasta was just as tasty and out waitress was welcoming and pleasant.

Love love love crispy thin pizzas. Sea Point is so alive & vibey so it's great to sit outside this lovely little spot and watch the world go by.
Depending on your appetite, Posticino also serve delicious salads & antipasta. We love their spinach & ricotta ravioli, mussels & pita bread, salmon salad.
This iconic restaurant is very well know for its vibe as well as the food.

Besides for waiting a while to be seated, it was really lovely. We had a mixture of pizza and pasta as well as some lovely salads.

This place definitely needs to be visited!

Terrible service today. Waitress didn't seem very interested. Food is good but sadly I will not take anyone here again. Felt embarrassed as I recommend the place. One side plate had two massive chips on it and my 82 year old guest waited about 30min for the tea she ordered. Asked for lemon with our 2 glasses of water and half a slice came on a small plate. I hate not giving a tip but it was not deserved. I doubt I will go back here.

We had a great meal here today. The pasta is delicious and our meals came quickly. The service is sporadic but not for lack of trying. There seem to be too little staff for the amount of tables there today. However, the staff try their best and are very friendly.

Ended up heading here with a group of Italians I work with and even they enjoyed the pizza here. Vast amount of choices and fantastic service.

If you like Italian food then this is the place to go! Delicious pizza and pasta! Service is brilliant with very friendly staff! Very homely and welcoming restaurant! Must book in advance!

Once you in the restaurant it feels a lot like being in Italy, nothing special from the streets. Seafood pasta was quite good. Service is a bit too relaxed, certain waiters could do with being a little more professional.

Decent food, good service. The food passing by us seemed far more interesting than anything we ordered so it's hard to rate the food but the boring stuff we ordered was good. I would go back to try something else and be less boring.

The food is amazing and so is the service. The pizzas are to die for and the location easy to find. The outdoor sitting is awesome if it's not windy :)
The restaurant is warm and so is the host; he makes sure you are fine and love what you eat.
This review is also for Gabi who served us with utmost perfection and ease an was a delight to talk to.
The whole environment was joyful and pleasing.

Thank You :)

This is just such an inviting restaurant with a homely atmosphere. Their service is so friendly with great management. Very reasonable prices for quality Italian food. I had the Gnocchi with arrabiata sauce; It was delicious and I can imagine it tasting just as good with any other pasta sauce on the menu. Very satisfying food! Be sure to make a reservation, especially during the weekend. Mikhil Valjee

We went here on a Sunday evening and were not disappointed. The pizza was yummy and also the pasta! Tje calamari salad was the best I had in a while and the sizes of the portions were quite large as well. Sit outside - although its close to the road it is not loud

Authentic Italian. Delicious, well paired toppings and flavours - variety of options. Lovely location for early summer evening dinner. Delightful staff and owner/host.

A little slow when full, but worth the wait. Reserve a table ahead.

What a classic! Always a good experience, always good times. You can't go wrong on the pizza's but the real secret is in the pastas. If it's el fresco dining you're after, Posticino's your spot

This is such a vibey italian spot! Situated on a bustling seapoint mainroad - you only get good vibes from the masses of people frequenting here .

Had the gnocchi basil pesto pasta and and pizza and both were really really good. Service was also top notch.

The tables are quite ontop of each other, otherwise its the perfect spot!

My fave local where I can place my order and 20minutes later collect it Andy it's like home to home food, my fave is the arrabiata pasta where you can decide how hot you want it. And of course a pita and pizza loads to choose from and they all great.

Yum yum yum. If you're looking to find some Italian spice to life - this is the place to go. Whether you're having a delicious cheesy pizza or the pasta (I had basil pesto gnocchi) you won't be disappointed. The tables are possibly a little close together, as they are so popular they need to find space for everyone. But that didn't stop me hearing two different people book valentines day date reservations already last week!

This is great place to get away from the slightly busy city life and go get some pizza. It's quite close to Beach Road as well so you can definitely go check out some waves afterwards.

The pizza is great, I had the Strega and tasted a few others. Thin base and very fresh. The staff is very welcoming and the overall experience of the place is awesome.

There is a lot to be said about this amazing restaurant but to keep the story short I will just say that they have the Best Pizza in Cape Town.

A lovely evening from the moment we were greeted at the door. Even though it was very busy my mother and I were accommodated and a table outside on the lovely veranda was set up for us. Our waitress was so friendly and efficient, and despite her many tables we were never neglected. My mother and I shared the medium Italiana salad which was fresh and hearty. We didn't wait long for our food. What makes this place so great is the simplicity of their food; the pastas are elegant, flavorful and the portions are not shy. The menu is also very fairly priced. Posticinos is fast becoming a favorite of mine for pasta and pizza in Cape Town!
