The Buthcher Man is not only a great restaurant with the best steak in Cape Town. It's Butchery is also world class. I bought the Picanha and Sirloin from them and it was amazing.

There was not much to be faulted here. Service was efficient and the steak was done how I wanted it. Generally quite a good experience and I was in and out pretty quickly.
I cannot help myself from rating this restaurant a 5, it was honestly amazing and my favorite restaurant in he city! The food was drop dead amazing and both myself and cookie loved every moment here. The steak was succulent, tender and roared with flavours! The side salad was well sized and had every you need to have an amazing salad, to the point that it could have been a normal salad ordered as a main. Their signature burger was amazing, the patty was beautiful, tender and the flavour screamed with every bite. I can’t fault this place in anyway. Amazing amazing amazing!

Butchery come restaurant. First off the place is modern and slick, not something you expect from a traditional butchery. Sitting down we got to mull over the menu with some complimentary biltong.... a first - and certainly a nice touch. I ordered a cappuccino, being a fan of the Deluxe brand of coffee. I expected a nicely balanced, well rounded coffee and it certainly delivered on that. I’m glad that a butchery could pull off a decent cappuccino.
For the main event I ordered the 300g burger which is listed as one of their signature dishes. Also up for tasting the 200g rump.
My epic burger arrived plated on large pretty blue ceramic plate. The patty on the burger was just excellent, juicy packed full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I can’t touch this burger with any other comment except “wow, impressed”.
I would also like to add that they have the best sweet potato fries I’ve tasted since being in CPT! Crunchy exterior soft interior and seasoned well. It’s just perfect.
The 200g steak was tender and seasoned well and from the flavor of the meat you can tell the beef used is of an exceptionally high standard. Excellent meat, excellent service in an excellent setting. Well done for nailing it on the head. I rate the Butcher Man as best burger in CPT.
We went several times to buy great meat for the braai or we had diner there.

All I can say is the sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had!!!! Wow 😍😍😍😍 The rest of the meal was ok - nothing I would rush back for other than those fries 🍟

Burgers were cooked to perfection. My sis and I both had the bacon & cheese burger while my brother had the big boy burger. We were pleasantly surprised by the flavor and portion size.

The Butcher Man.. Holds true to their name. We were treated to a meaty evening and absolute winner for any Banter.
On arrival I strolled through the butcher shop and looked at the meat offered at the butchery. Meats were all cut and ready for your anytime braai. The fillets were well packed and ready for a family braai. There were also delicious chicken skewers marinated and braai ready! Needless to say this butchery is braai perfect... As us South Africans love to do!
As we were being seated at our tables we got some biltong and droewors to nibble on... Mmmm yum!
And so the evening of tasting began... With lamb cutlets which in my opinion one of the best I've had! We then went on to Chalmar Rib Eye and Fillet slices cooked to perfect and seasoned amazingly. I spoke to the owner and asked about the seasoning and he said simple is the way to go.. So a good salt and pepper was the key! The different cuts of meat that I had viewed earlier were now plated before me and wow great quality.
So then the mini burgers arrived we got to taste however they sell the regular portions on the menu... The Wagyu burger and Chicken with Cheese burgers came and Wagyu was a winner for sure and I must say the meat was delicious and soft and just melted in my mouth, not being a burger person this one is definitely going to be a repeat cheat ;)) The next set of mini burgers were the Sirloin Prego and bacon and cheese burger ... By this time I was popping full! So delicious I at least tried and again something that runs through ever tasting was the quality of the meat associated with the care taken in the preparation.
Hands down if you love meat like I definitely cannot live without mmmmm do stop in and you won't regret it.
The restaurant went from super busy to busy to super busy on a Wednesday night ... Thank you Butcher Man for great food and service and Zomato for promoting such an awesome place.

Nothing- and I mean nothing- beats a well cooked medium rare steak with a good glass of wine.. and that my friends, is exactly what you'll find at this fine establishment!
I went to the Butcher Man as part of a zomato meet up and got to taste a rather wide range off their menu. To cut a long story short, let me just say that everything I ate was good. Some were great, but nothing came close to just average.
We started with lamb chops and tasters of the fillet, followed by 4 sliders. Their chicken burger was shockingly delicious, and although stuffed to the brim, I finished off the steak prego far too easily. Between their beef burgers, the wagyu wins every time. Their bacon and cheese burger was tasty, yes, but the patty reminded me a little too much of a ready-made pop-in-the-oven one, and that was a tad off putting.
All in all, probably some of the best meat you'll find in town, with the added bonus of buying some extra steak to take home from their butchery section and cook later in the week!
Only mild disappointment was the lack of something sweet after dinner.. I ended it off with a sweet cuppacino, but sweet tooth's be ready to make alternate arrangements for an after-meal treat.

Last night I experienced a meal of meaty deliciousness at The Butcher Man that can be compared to no other! Zomato treated us to a meetup that comprised of several tasters of tender, succulent, perfectly spiced and perfectly cooked meats. The lamb cutlets and sirloin steak prego were my absolute favourites, but I couldn't fault their waygu beef burger, fillet steak or chicken and cheese burger either. The sweet potato fries as an accompaniment are ideal.
The restaurant itself looks more like a deli/butchery where you can choose from an enormous selection of meats to take home to braai (something I will definitely be doing in the near future), but the sit-in dining area had a great atmosphere and our hosts were exceptionally helpful and friendly. A great experience all round!
Butcher combined with a restaurant and a Biltong counter. Best steak ever. Unbelievable good. The owner and the stuff is so friendly and cheering. I really recommend it!

Came here after letting out from the stadium because we were starving. I wasn't expecting much because restaurants in huge touristy areas take a hard swing either left or right and are just simply good or bad but this restaurant was amazing. I at first also thought that this was just a butcher shop but it was also a restaurant. The service was really good, our server was really nice and made sure to make sure we were doing alright despite how busy it was.
We started by guzzling water and then had a bottle of wine with a Caesar Salad. The only thing I didn't like about the salad was that the olives weren't pitted. Besides that the salad tasted great, the dressing wasn't too overwhelming and it wasn't too dry. We then shared the Lamb Chops and they were so juicy and well-cooked. I at first was disappointed that there wasn't a sauce or aioli with the lamb but it really didn't need it because the lamb was juicy and not too gamey. The fries and the coleslaw were also really good, the cabbage didn't have too much sauce or mayo and was nicely cut. The food was amazing and the service was good - this restaurant is definitely worth a try!

Where ever we go we want absolutely to try local places and this was was perfect! Pretty close to our accommodation, easy to find and even if it's an hybrid between a butcher shop and a restaurant it's particularly nice. Wide choice of different cuts of meat and side dishes, we took 3 sirloin steaks and they were perfect! Sweet fried potatoes were simply amazing! Our waiter was super kind and nice, definitely recommended!

Strange set up
We popped into here for a quick lunch. The food was good and so was the service. Just seems like a strange set up as you don't know if it is a butcher trying to be a restaurant or restaurant trying to be a butcher and a shop. But besides this strange feeling, I would eat here again. The service was very attentive and I enjoyed my steak. Although it did come out as rare instead of medium rare, I would always prefer it this way than overcooked. The fries that came with the steaks were also cooked very nicely. I just wish they had real mayonnaise instead of the salad cream.
What was disappointing was not having any wine by the glass. Especially popping in for lunch, sometimes just one glass of wine is desired with a steak and not to share a whole bottle. Something they should look at for the future.
Overall the prices are what you expect in Cape Town, on the expensive side to the rest of the country but still pretty good value for money compared to eating a steak in the UK.
High quality meats, incredible service in a nice atmosphere. The only criticism I can offer is that their burgers are too big, literally. There is so much meat in it, it's hard to eat.
I've been here here two times within 3 days with my friend and we had among others some Rump Steak, Wine, Sirloin, Lamb Cutlets and Greek Salad. Very delicious! Very good value for money! See you again!

Solid casual place, really friendly staff. You can mix and match from items on the menu, and also items you pick right from the meat display. They braai to order. Good beers too! Would go again, would recommend.
Really enjoyed the meal. Had the perfect cut of sirloin and grilled to perfection. Staff very friendly and efficient. Went for their 2 for 1 special and it was worth every bite. Such value for money. Will be going back to experience the other specials very soon.
What a great concept. We walked in to view the menu, ended up buying biltong and sauces (and would have bought more / meat if we lived in the area), then stayed for dinner after not being overly impressed with the competition on the strip.
Excellent service from very friendly staff.
I have never received a meal so quickly after ordering (in a sit-down restaurant) as here - literally 10 minutes from order to table, and the restaurant was full!
