Butcher combined with a restaurant and a Biltong counter. Best steak ever. Unbelievable good. The owner and the stuff is so friendly and cheering. I really recommend it! Update! Be careful the Biltong is highly addictive. Best I've got in 2 weeks holiday. Absolutely gorgeous

Came here after letting out from the stadium because we were starving. I wasn't expecting much because restaurants in huge touristy areas take a hard swing either left or right and are just simply good or bad but this restaurant was amazing. I at first also thought that this was just a butcher shop but it was also a restaurant. The service was really good, our server was really nice and made sure to make sure we were doing alright despite how busy it was. We started by guzzling water and then had a bottle of wine with a Caesar Salad. The only thing I didn't like about the salad was that the olives weren't pitted. Besides that the salad tasted great, the dressing wasn't too overwhelming and it wasn't too dry. We then shared the Lamb Chops and they were so juicy and well-cooked. I at first was disappointed that there wasn't a sauce or aioli with the lamb but it really didn't need it because the lamb was juicy and not too gamey. The fries and the coleslaw were also really good, the cabbage didn't have too much sauce or mayo and was nicely cut. The food was amazing and the service was good - this restaurant is definitely worth a try!

Where ever we go we want absolutely to try local places and this was was perfect! Pretty close to our accommodation, easy to find and even if it's an hybrid between a butcher shop and a restaurant it's particularly nice. Wide choice of different cuts of meat and side dishes, we took 3 sirloin steaks and they were perfect! Sweet fried potatoes were simply amazing! Our waiter was super kind and nice, definitely recommended!

THE GOOD: Steaks are very tasty and good Service was good THE NOT SO GOOD: No wine by the glass Strange set up We popped into here for a quick lunch. The food was good and so was the service. Just seems like a strange set up as you don't know if it is a butcher trying to be a restaurant or restaurant trying to be a butcher and a shop. But besides this strange feeling, I would eat here again. The service was very attentive and I enjoyed my steak. Although it did come out as rare instead of medium rare, I would always prefer it this way than overcooked. The fries that came with the steaks were also cooked very nicely. I just wish they had real mayonnaise instead of the salad cream. What was disappointing was not having any wine by the glass. Especially popping in for lunch, sometimes just one glass of wine is desired with a steak and not to share a whole bottle. Something they should look at for the future. Overall the prices are what you expect in Cape Town, on the expensive side to the rest of the country but still pretty good value for money compared to eating a steak in the UK.

High quality meats, incredible service in a nice atmosphere. The only criticism I can offer is that their burgers are too big, literally. There is so much meat in it, it's hard to eat.

Solid casual place, really friendly staff. You can mix and match from items on the menu, and also items you pick right from the meat display. They braai to order. Good beers too! Would go again, would recommend.

Really enjoyed the meal. Had the perfect cut of sirloin and grilled to perfection. Staff very friendly and efficient. Went for their 2 for 1 special and it was worth every bite. Such value for money. Will be going back to experience the other specials very soon.

What a great concept. We walked in to view the menu, ended up buying biltong and sauces (and would have bought more / meat if we lived in the area), then stayed for dinner after not being overly impressed with the competition on the strip. Excellent service from very friendly staff. I have never received a meal so quickly after ordering (in a sit-down restaurant) as here - literally 10 minutes from order to table, and the restaurant was full! Delicious food, I look forward to returning 🤤

Great restaurant with good prices! They currently have 1+1 for specific dishes, we paid 189R for two 350g sirloin steaks! Also it’s a butchery with great selection, and their biltong is AMAZING! We buy there biltong several times a week.

The Butcher Man is not only a butchery but a restaurant as well. Since I've been on a plant based diet and it seems somewhat difficult to find good food. The Butcher Man has a vegan burger option and it tastes amazing! The menu for those animal eaters covers a wide range of foods, so if you are in green point, looking for a place to eat, the Butcher Man is a great place.

One of the few places open on Christmas Day, this place is a jewel. The service was great and the food was delicious. The owner came by our table to share helpful suggestions and things to do in Cape Town. I highly recommend The Butcher Man.

Excellent service and really tasty food. I had the beef burger which was super delicious. The rest of the menu also looks great and they had a good selection of meat for sale in the butchery section.

Don’t let the looks mislead you! Sure, it’s a no frills place, but sometimes you just want a steak. And this is a no-nonsense place to eat a bloody tasty steak! Besides, the level of service is exceptional.

The Buthcher Man is not only a great restaurant with the best steak in Cape Town. It's Butchery is also world class. I bought the Picanha and Sirloin from them and it was amazing.

Every week I order my meat from the master butchers at The Butcher Man cut to my specification. The quality of the meat and service is world class.

The food is ok but it's quite expensive, even their tiny cool drinks are over priced. I would go again when they reduce they prices! But for now il pass. Service is nice though

There was not much to be faulted here. Service was efficient and the steak was done how I wanted it. Generally quite a good experience and I was in and out pretty quickly.

Service could have been better but the food was good. The restaurant itself was quite nice and intimate and they did a good job keeping the butcher separate, really doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in a butcher at all. I would return but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

I cannot help myself from rating this restaurant a 5, it was honestly amazing and my favorite restaurant in he city! The food was drop dead amazing and both myself and cookie loved every moment here. The steak was succulent, tender and roared with flavours! The side salad was well sized and had every you need to have an amazing salad, to the point that it could have been a normal salad ordered as a main. Their signature burger was amazing, the patty was beautiful, tender and the flavour screamed with every bite. I can’t fault this place in anyway. Amazing amazing amazing!

Butchery come restaurant. First off the place is modern and slick, not something you expect from a traditional butchery. Sitting down we got to mull over the menu with some complimentary biltong.... a first - and certainly a nice touch. I ordered a cappuccino, being a fan of the Deluxe brand of coffee. I expected a nicely balanced, well rounded coffee and it certainly delivered on that. I’m glad that a butchery could pull off a decent cappuccino. <br/><br/>For the main event I ordered the 300g burger which is listed as one of their signature dishes. Also up for tasting the 200g rump. <br/><br/>My epic burger arrived plated on large pretty blue ceramic plate. The patty on the burger was just excellent, juicy packed full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I can’t touch this burger with any other comment except “wow, impressed”. <br/>I would also like to add that they have the best sweet potato fries I’ve tasted since being in CPT! Crunchy exterior soft interior and seasoned well. It’s just perfect. <br/><br/>The 200g steak was tender and seasoned well and from the flavor of the meat you can tell the beef used is of an exceptionally high standard. Excellent meat, excellent service in an excellent setting. Well done for nailing it on the head. I rate the Butcher Man as best burger in CPT.<br/>

Bad service and to be cautious...my parents tried it and after bill cane they were charged for extras such as biltong which they never had. When queried lame excuses by waitress...soon after manager appeared with correct bill. I think the owner needs to “reshuffle” his staff a bit...

Really disappointed with the quality an taste of the patties used. It has the consistency of rubber. <br/>It is comparable to the patties served at school cafeterias.

Small but cosy setting. Friendly staff and speedy service. <br/><br/>Burgers were cooked to perfection. My sis and I both had the bacon & cheese burger while my brother had the big boy burger. The Butcher Man.. Holds true to their name. We were treated to a meaty evening and absolute winner for any Banter. <br/><br/>On arrival I strolled through the butcher shop and looked at the meat offered at the butchery. Meats were all cut and ready for your anytime braai. The fillets were well packed and ready for a family braai. There were also delicious chicken skewers marinated and braai ready! Needless to say this butchery is braai perfect... As us South Africans love to do! <br/><br/>As we were being seated at our tables we got some biltong and droewors to nibble on... Mmmm yum! <br/><br/>And so the evening of tasting began... With lamb cutlets which in my opinion one of the best I've had! We then went on to Chalmar Rib Eye and Fillet slices cooked to perfect and seasoned amazingly. I spoke to the owner and asked about the seasoning and he said simple is the way to go.. So a good salt and pepper was the key! The different cuts of meat that I had viewed earlier were now plated before me and wow great quality.<br/><br/>So then the mini burgers arrived we got to taste however they sell the regular portions on the menu... The Wagyu burger and Chicken with Cheese burgers came and Wagyu was a winner for sure and I must say the meat was delicious and soft and just melted in my mouth, not being a burger person this one is definitely going to be a repeat cheat ;)) The next set of mini burgers were the Sirloin Prego and bacon and cheese burger ... By this time I was popping full! So delicious I at least tried and again something that runs through ever tasting was the quality of the meat associated with the care taken in the preparation. <br/><br/>Hands down if you love meat like I definitely cannot live without mmmmm do stop in and you won't regret it. <br/><br/>The restaurant went from super busy to busy to super busy on a Wednesday night ... Thank you Butcher Man for great food and service and Zomato for promoting such an awesome place. <br/><br/>If you in a hurry or just want to eat at home shop in to the butcher for the perfect meal at home.

Nothing- and I mean nothing- beats a well cooked medium rare steak with a good glass of wine.. and that my friends, is exactly what you'll find at this fine establishment!<br/><br/>I went to the Butcher Man as part of a zomato meet up and got to taste a rather wide range off their menu. To cut a long story short, let me just say that everything I ate was good. Some were great, but nothing came close to just average.<br/><br/>We started with lamb chops and tasters of the fillet, followed by 4 sliders. Their chicken burger was shockingly delicious, and although stuffed to the brim, I finished off the steak prego far too easily. Between their beef burgers, the wagyu wins every time. Their bacon and cheese burger was tasty, yes, but the patty reminded me a little too much of a ready-made pop-in-the-oven one, and that was a tad off putting.<br/><br/>All in all, probably some of the best meat you'll find in town, with the added bonus of buying some extra steak to take home from their butchery section and cook later in the week!<br/><br/>Only mild disappointment was the lack of something sweet after dinner.. I ended it off with a sweet cuppacino, but sweet tooth's be ready to make alternate arrangements for an after-meal treat.<br/>

Last night I experienced a meal of meaty deliciousness at The Butcher Man that can be compared to no other! Zomato treated us to a meetup that comprised of several tasters of tender, succulent, perfectly spiced and perfectly cooked meats. The lamb cutlets and sirloin steak prego were my absolute favourites, but I couldn't fault their waygu beef burger, fillet steak or chicken and cheese burger either. The sweet potato fries as an accompaniment are ideal.<br/><br/>The restaurant itself looks more like a deli/butchery where you can choose from an enormous selection of meats to take home to braai (something I will definitely be doing in the near future), but the sit-in dining area had a great atmosphere and our hosts were exceptionally helpful and friendly. A great experience all round!

A meat lovers paradise in a great location ! Simple menu which is well executed . And the beauty of this place is that if there's a cut of meat you really enjoyed , you can head into the butchery and take some home with you !

So last night a group of foodies and I were treated to an absolute MEAT FEAST thanks to Zomato Reviewer. From the outside, you think it's a fancy butchery, but once you step inside, you realise it's way more than that. From a butchery, to a deli, to a restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, and our waiter, Andile, took great care of us for the night. We started off with droewors and biltong to taste, and it DID NOT stop from there. Braaied lamb chops, to rib eye, to fillet, to sliders of Waygu Beef, bacon and cheese and a chicken and mature cheese burger,and then still ended off with the spicy prego roll. Needless to say, they absolutely outdid themselves, in terms of taste, preparation, quality of produce and service. I've woken up this morning, and I'm genuinely still full, but so happy that I got to experience such a great meetup and a gem in Cape Town.

The Butcher Man take two. I've come back here after the management asked me to return after they addressed some feedback I had. Fantastic customer service, this place is really dedicated to improvement and excellent service. <br/>The staff were absolutely professional and welcoming. Our waiter Tapiwe (I hope that spelling is right) was great, really made us feel comfortable and important. <br/>I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection, medium rare of course. It was well seasoned, but subtle enough to let the flavor of the meat be the star of the show. My partner had the Butcher Man Ribeye, which was flavorful and well cooked medium rare. <br/>The chips were crispy and hot. Also, the meals come with a side of slaw, which is the one of the best slaws I've ever had. <br/>Highly recommended for any carnivore.

Very good steak. <br/><br/>The real deal! Simply seasoned with salt and pepper and accompanied with a great slaw and a choice between well prepared sides! <br/>Definitely one for the books.

The restaurant has undergone a renovation which makes it look a lot more like a butchery-cum-restaurant. The menu items are what you would find at a classic steak place. I had the rib eye with chips. It was cooked perfectly and the basting sauce was a nice finish. It is family friendly and the service is good

Needed some really good burger patties for a recent function and got hold of The Butcher Man - the best burger patties that I have had in ages. Friendly service, exceptional quality and a phenomenal product. I would recommend them any day !!!

Great butchery if you'd like to buy some quality meats or biltong. They have a small section where you can sit down to eat. <br/><br/>We both ate burgers, and they tasted really great, but weren't the best that I've had. <br/><br/>They're in the process of revamping the restaurant part of the shop, so perhaps give it a skip until then.

Popped in today after smelling the Boerewors being Braai'ed outside! <br/>Wow nothing beats the smell of Boerewors on a Braai. Made us so hungry that we had to go in and order a Boerewors roll! <br/>R50 for a LARGE well seasoned & perfectly prepared Boerewors roll with a generous portion of freshly prepared fries. The Peri Peri sauce is phenomenal! <br/>The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The butchery was spotless & the meat was of the finest quality. <br/>I am excited to return after the revamp at the end of November!

Modern take on the traditional butcher shop: top cut meats and a sit down option. Excellent burgers, packed with flavour.<br/><br/>Disappointed that they have opted to only stock their homemade biltong, which is substandard and undermines what is otherwise a decent overall offering.

I absolutely loved this little place! It's one of the best concepts I have had the pleasure of eating in. <br/><br/>The butchery has a wide range of products available. You choose your cut and have it grilled. Choose a side dish and that's it. It's absolutely brilliant. <br/><br/>

We went to the Butcherman in December last year, after a good review from my parents. However, we as a family were extremely disappointed.  I had emailed them with this exact comment, they replied saying that the owner would respond but three months later we have still not heard back. <br/><br/>Understandably it was a busy weekend with the 7s Rugby Tournament but service was incredibly poor. We understand that we could not reserve seats so we waited for a table to clear and the waitron confirmed that we may have the table when the other patrons had left. That being said we waited and instead a couple, who had asked us if we were waiting, then proceeded to take our table. I understand that rude and intolerable patrons are not your concern, however there was a clear lack of management. And instead of causing a scene and ruining what we had hoped would be a good meal and an enjoyable time we left. <br/><br/>We then took our food as take-aways and after asking the waitron if all our food was there-- and named everything we had ordered, the waitron confirmed that our order was correct and accounted for. Only after we had walked to the park and opened the parcel did we discover that 3 of our meals were missing. The meals were on the receipt, we then walked back only to find out that for whatever reason our orders hadn't gone through and we had to wait for the rest of our food to be made. <br/><br/>In addition to poor service and incomplete orders we then discovered the second time around that the burgers we had ordered and paid for were incorrect. We received 2 beef burgers as opposed to the Butcher Man burgers, which we had ordered and paid for. <br/><br/>Again, we understand that being a busy weekend things can be rather chaotic but this does not excuse poor management or service. Restaurants such as yourself should be better prepared for occasions such as these. I hope that in the future issues such as these will be resolved.

We stopped for brunch En-route to the Cape Town Stadium. One of the best brisket on rye we have had. Perfectly succulent and generous portion of brisket. The Rye bread was fresh and the gherkins were crunchy -@ served on a wooden board. We would've preferred some butter paper over the wooden board for hygiene purposes. Once we lifted the sandwich off the board there was no putting down so all good. Crispy yummy fries. Pity they don't serve hot drinks but they don't mind patrons going next door to Giovanni's and bringing in cuppacinos. Great service. you can pick your own steak from the butcher and they prepare this to your preference and charge a cooking fee. #deliciousbrisket

Great concept but a little disappointed in the end. Our meat came cooked quite towards the medium side, despite asking for rare or medium rare. The cuts were great but the cooking was just a bit too much. Highly recommend the lamb though, which came to perfection.

Undoubtedly the best steak I've had in Cape Town. The concept works well and service was offered with a smile. I will definitely get my supplies for the next braai here.

My parents had been raving about The Butcher Man for some time now, so I thought I'd check it out with them last night. I had high expectations of this place because of what my parents were saying...<br/><br/>The actual place and concept is fantastic! They have a stunning selection of fine cut meats - you can pick and choose your cut of meat and have it grilled on site for a fee of R 30. I chose the most delicious piece of sirloin steak, which only costed me R35 - add the grilling fee and my entire meal came to R65! My parents chose the specials of the day: prego steak roll (R 85) and 100% beef burger (R 65), which they were so chuffed with - taste and price wise. I on the other hand was left feeling a bit disappointed with my meal. The lady behind the grill never asked me how I'd like my steak done and when it arrived, it was served with crisps and a delicious coleslaw, but the steak was a let down. The steak could've done with more seasoning or they could've added a basting sauce.<br/><br/>I intend going back soon and hoping to be more satisfied than with my first visit. I want to love the place because it is amazing!

I love this concept. Sometimes you wanna eat, but you don't want to go anywhere too hectic, and you really don't want to cook. This butchery sells you your meat, and charges a grilling fee to have it cooked and served to you then and there, however you like it. If I can recommend something I would say that this is definitely the only place I can afford to eat a wagyu fillet, which they cook really well. Their burger patties are great, as is pretty much anything you choose to have grilled. Definitely the place to go for a casual, quick and delicious supper.

What a discovery!! Walk past this place and decided to go in and find something to eat!! Got one of the best burgers!! So juicy and full of flavour!!! And for the best price!! Will definitely return!!

Being allergic to sulphur dioxide means I now buy my meat at the butcher man. Meat is excellent. I love the way it's packaged. No preservatives or the bad guys. I love their selection. You should also try the duck breasts. They are the best and so easy to cook at home. <br/>I've also eaten there for their burger - very delicious because the meat is of such premium quality. <br/>Hygienic, clean, great design - a pleasure to shop there.

This boutique butcher has the finest cuts and best quality meat in the area! You can select meat to have prepared for you or simply choose off their delicious menu. Portions sizes are big and it is totally worth every penny! I also love their home made bastings, if you love hot stuff you MUST try the Peri Peri! ??

So much meat. So good. Each cut is cut with care, and fair prices mean it's a more than worthy alternative to standard supermarket cuts (so go and try it, cost is definitely not a deterrent).<br/>Besides the standard cuts, you're likely to find some more niche cuts as well. The staff really strive to meet every need the customer may have and the environment is clean and stylish without stooping to gimmick.<br/>Also a functioning restaurant, and they stock great biltong and braai accessories!

Awesome butchery! A meat lovers paradise. Just what the area needed. Always fresh meats and well presented! Their fresh meat display looks amazing and very inviting.With an in house take away and sit down counter. The butchery looks and feels clean when you walk in. You will find almost any cut or type of meat there. Also a variety of rabbit meats, great sausages and pork bangers to die for.They even sell Black Pudding for the UK folk. I tried the black pudding and its very good! This is one shop I always visit when in the area.
