Giovanni / Nicolas are utterly focused, passionate, professional and totally in control of an eatery / coffee-shop / people-collector (!) that, frankly, has no equal, at all, in Cape Town. Or, anywhere in S A.
Food / coffee / merchandise quality is top-level and meticulously maintained. It would be unthinkable to visit Cape Town without spending an appreciable amount of time at Giovanni's. You have been warned: miss out on Giovanni's to your absolute detriment! :-)

What a lovely deli! Absolutely my favorite. Nothing I would change. Giovannis has been one of my families favorites for many years and whenever we are in Cape Town we visit multiple times without a shadow of a doubt. Hundies recommend.

Casual and easy great choices swift service all very friendly. I enjoyed a croissant perfectly baked with some honey glazed gammon. Hit the spot.
Well, what to say about Giovanni’s, simply the best food corner in CPT by far. This small gastronomic delight is very well located in Green Point and allows you to eat in or take Away. The variety of their products is incredible as well as the cooked dishes. Be ready to comeback :-)
Great Cappuccino and the freshest croissants. You can hear how fresh they are when someone next to you takes a bite!!! Order them from the counter rather than in the deli. The deli is amazing, lots of imported and local delicacies to choose from. Sandwiches are fresh and a great place to pop in if you on the move and need to get something quick but at the same time quality.
Giovanni’s, a popular green point institution, has been around for decades and is still a popular choice among locals for a number of reasons. The relaxed low-key restaurant serves quality food and great coffee, accompanied with freshly baked goods such as croissants and bread (extremely hard to ignore when it’s hot out the oven and served in baskets right next to the food deli). The Trendy spot on green point main road is where you will find a buzz any time of the day. The selection of food on offer at the deli is great for a quick bite or takeaway for midweek meals or dinner parties. Giovanni’s also has wide range of international foods on offer, wine and fresh flowers, making it a perfect One stop shop. The service is always friendly and you’ll never be disappointed 👍🏻
Gios food is semi famous among local Capetonians from their pesto dishes to their perfectly cooked chicken perfect for lunch or dinner (or a healthy snack) and if you're feeling not so healthy their cheese cake is the best and creamiest in the world!

A buffet type deli where you choose what you want from a selection of options and pay by weight. I love this place and all the food I’ve tried has all been brilliant. It all has a really authentic and home cooked taste. My favourite is the beetroot quinoa and veg masala. The only thing is the seating situation isn’t very comfortable and sometimes you have to stand it sit on a railing.
A friend brought me here to build a sandwich, and I was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were all fresh and there was such a wide variety of amazing things that making a choice was difficult (in a very good way). The bread was amazing and my sandwich was phenomenal.

Love the Amsterdammers, taste like Hertzoggies, but better! The rugby is also on. Somewhat expensive on bakery & cured meats by 30% compared to similar delicatessens. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly busy staff, great selections - a perfect well established local.
You know the best part of feasting late at night just before loadshedding is Giovanni's. This is the best part.....
When I went to pay, there were two till ladles giggling with such an effectuous giggle that I had to start laughing with them. I asked what it was about, but they said it was to long to explain. Understanding that I said, "Don't you know that I am being picked up by my friend right now, and he is going to ask why I am crying with laughter?" My reason would reply, "I don't actually know! ".
This was the best giggle I had in a long time. Not only is the food excellent and service fantastic, but it is your second home. 10,0000/10 🌟 ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIOVANNI'S 👌🏼 .....# I still don't know what the giggles were about 🤔🤣

I've come to rely on it for all my meals and desserts, and their coffee, food, and treats are undeniably fantastic. This place is truly a gem in Cape Town, and it never disappoints.
This local spot served as my family’s daily go-to grocery store while living in Cape Town. The coffee was great, but it’s the local flavor and vibe that really won us over. It’s clearly a staple for many and we think of this place often as synonymous with our South Africa experience.
I have known this place for 31 years, living 2 meters away and always go there for ready meals and delicious snacks. My favourite was cheese blinzers, now no longer in stock. But the coffee and food. OMG you must go to believe.
This is one of my favorite places in CT. The bar section is great to have a coffee and watch everything that is happening here (which is a lot). You can just pick whatever you want from the deli section and they make a sandwich out of it for you. And also the premade food is just really good. I came here on a daily basis when I was staying in Green Point.
So many locals kept mentioning Giovanni’s as a must, so I finally went to stop by the deli to get a to-go sandwich. And WOOWWW the hype is valid and well deserved. I was blown away with the choices, the freshness of everything, and how amazing the sandwich I ordered was. I loved being able to customize it and grab a few sides too.
I've been there three weekends in a row, and I think that somes it up perfectly. Incredible food and ready-made meals. Also, their house blend of coffee is insanely good, and they come in pod versions as well
