This place was elegantly decorated with high ceilings and glass walls. The staffs were friendly and we ordered their weekly dinner special. Their food was good value and quality. My chicken schnitzel was slightly burnt and a bit salty but overall enjoyable. Their beef stroganoff was quite tasty as well.

Highly recommend this restaurant. The food is always of good quality. My wife had the Sunday lunch special and I had the chicken strips with the 3 different dips and the meat and chicken was soft and tasty. We also enjoy the cakes from Harpers, one of the best ones is the Baklava cheesecake. The service is top notch and the variety of food available is impressive as well. Great experience.

I love the calmness of the environment, it’s such a nice place for any time of the day. Dinner vibes are so awesome slow and relaxing.

When my dad was alive, this was his go to spot with friends. My mom and I have now carried on the tradition of having regular coffee dates there, especially with my son. The staff here are by far some of the best and loveliest people I have ever met. So much so that I miss them if I do not go there for a couple of days. Their food is to die for. Not only is it well priced, but you can taste the love and care put in each meal. A truly wonderful hidden gem. They also put a ton of care into kid options! They frequently give my son a gingerbread to take home. They’ve also given my son a coloring in page and some pens because he was having a bit of a meltdown. That level of service is so rare!

Lovely treat after a hectic week. The staff was most friendly, mochaccino delicious and carrot cake scrumptious.

My wife and I came here for a Friday lunch. The food is top quality. We ordered two pizzas and both tasted amazing. One small compliant on the food is that the pizza base was very slightly under done, only if it was in the oven 30 seconds longer. Another issue is the service was very slow. The restaurant wasn't completely full so we thought we would be in and out within an hour. However, we were there for almost 2 hours. Overall, we would definitely come back and try something else on the menu. If the service is better then I will change it to 5 stars.

I recently had the pleasure of having breakfast at Harper's Restaurant which was a delightful experience, with efficient, friendly yet unintrusive service. The menu's wide variety caters to diverse tastes, and the breakfast options are both delicious and perfectly portioned. I had the Calypso and my egg was poached exactly as I had requested. My fellow dinners had the Giusto and one of the speciality omelettes. All complimented the deliciousness of their meals. The coffee is of high quality, complementing the meal perfectly. The only drawback is the somewhat hidden location behind escalators, but once found, Harper's becomes a charming spot for social gatherings. Overall, it's a fabulous dining experience that combines excellent service, delicious breakfast, and a versatile menu and relaxing ambience. Highly recommended.

WOW. The Mango chicken curry was superb. The strawberry roulade was heavenly. Genuinely one of the best meals I've ever eaten out. And spot on service from Precious as well. 5 stars all day long.

Weekly cocktail special. Had the chicken trinchado...to die for! The waitress helped me with a 2-pin plug to charge my flat battery. Service was great. Nice aesthetic.

What a phenomenal Restaurant. Service and food is 10 out of 10. Waiters are trained and such a pleasure to deal with. The Manager is an absolute star she has such a great personality and ensures everything is to the customers satisfaction. Well done highly recommend Harpers Eastgate.

It was excellent. My pasta was bland but the manager came and fixed the issue and all was good. My siater enjoyed her quasadilla 10/10. The service was superb. Just that the girl did not introduce herself but minor issue because she was great. Saw on my reciept her name was Monica. It was a pleasant experience. Will recommend to anyone

The food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly. We were a group of about 20, and we all received our food at the same time. The restaurant is family-friendly, and catered for everyone's individual needs.

Heard about Harper's through friends and we immediately decided to go try it out last night but sadly it was closed because we went late. We found ourselves in Eastgate this afternoon and decided to pay them a visit. This is such a lovely restaurant. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The drinks and food are a 10 out of 10! We had the focaccia bread for starters. We decided to go Mexican for today. We ordered Tacos and Quesadillas. The cocktails were out of this world. The place is very beautiful and cosy. Great spot to grab a breakfast, do brunch or a dinner. Loved it! ❤️

Excellent service, great food and very comfortable. Staying across the road in a hotel we were looking for a better breakfast offering. Harpers delivered. The waitress and staff were all very pleasant and professional. A great breakfast. Recommended.

Beautifully decorated space. Located in the corner basement of Eastgate so foot traffic and congestion is minimal, unlike the food court in the mall. The staff handle reservations professionally and explain all the specials upon arrival. Good menu that caters to all dietary requirements. Well worth a visit!

Food was good. The bad service dampened the entire experience. I tried to have a private conversation with the lady who was providing bad service and she was quite defensive and saw nothing wrong with her attitude<br/><br/>

Food is normally good but the Sunday lunch is really not up to standard. Chicken was dry and roast beef drenched in peculiar sauce. Butternut undercooked and tasteless.

23.08.2018 Harpers is situated a bit out of the way from the other eateries, with easy access from the parking lot. We came here as the first stop as part of the Food and Home Meander. So for our Starters we had the Melanzane Parmigiana – layers of Brinjal, Napoletana sauce, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, baked and served with a garden salad.<br/><br/>Beautifully presented but the Melanzane was overcooked, and the salad was fresh and tasty. Starters were paired with your choice of Durbanville Hills Wine Sauvignon Blanc 2017 or Merlot 2017. It’s a lovely little spot, and great service, would like to go back and try other items off the menu and their desserts look yummy.

Went for a casual lunch with my parents. Food was average although what I ordered, the flap jack stack was seriously a stack so portion was good. However what puts me off is that this place charges R15 for a hot water and lemon. Considering all it consists of is government juice and half a slice of lemon that's completely overpriced in fact how can you charge for this. But thank you for the waiter for giving us a heads up where some places don't tell you until you pay.

Harpers is an absolute gem we never knew about and found by pure luck. The style, decor and ambiance are absolutely unique and inviting. We loved it and are definitely going again. The service is good and everyone is friendly as well.<br/><br/>The food was fantastic and our expectations were met and more; the match of flavours, food types and ingredients are perfect; making this a must place to eat if you in east gate shopping centre.<br/><br/>Our rating: modern, quint and a must.

We had brunch here one Saturday. The service good and the food fantastic. I had the Thai sandwich which was surprisingly good and the other meals also were good with healthy portion sizes.

Wow, the last time I went to Harper's was when I was still in Primary School. Mom and I would often go for Sunday brunch and the standard meal would be the Avo and Bacon Welsh Rarebit. So in old tradition, maybe 15 years later, I decided to have this famous Harper's dish.<br/><br/>Funny, it was even better than I remembered it. Served on healthy bread, layers of bacon and avo covered in a cheesy sauce. Baked and served hot. It really is a great alternative to the usual breakfast. They have various fillings, so you have no excuse not to try the Welsh Rarebits. I was rather hungry, so I added a 150g chicken breast and it worked really well together.<br/><br/>I remember Harper's from the days of Stuttafords, but now this legendary restaurant has found a new home in the new section of Eastgate. Even better, it has a new 2018 look. That said, it's still as charming, cozy and classy as the original Harper's. I was shocked to hear they first opened in 1979.<br/><br/>Basil, the owner told me they are now able to open for dinner service as they aren't situated in Stuttafords. And you can still order a breakfast if you come later in the evening.<br/><br/>I had the famous Mozart cake and felt like I had committed the biggest single of all - but it was so worth it. A layered cake with chocolate flakes and a creamy hazelnut centre. Absolutely delicious. I had it with a nice warm cappuccino. (If you just feel like a sweet treat while shopping in the buzzing Eastgate - this is the perfect hide away spot)<br/><br/>The waiters were friendly and the restaurant was fresh and clean. I liked the open air feeling and the detailed light features.<br/><br/>Next time you in Eastgate - pop into Harper's and have a slice of old school tradition served with a modern twist.

This is one of my favourite places to go to when I want to have an enjoyable light meal in a relaxed setting.<br/>The food is always great and the staff friendly and accommodating.<br/>It does get really busy and crowded so best to make a reservation if you want a booth seat.<br/><br/>Update: Haven't been to Harpers in a while and you know what... nothing has changed, food and service is still excellent. This is a place worth going to again and again...<br/><br/>

I took my boyfriend here, as they re opened and the reviews were so good. <br/>The atmosphere, the chilled, classy vibe was awesome. The food was delicious 😬👌🏻 I loved the biscuits with the cappuccinos and the cappuccino was delicious.

I havent been to the new Harpers and arrived early to meet a friend. I felt I was inside a Home Improvement magazine as I could wait on a stylish couch for my friend. Total class and style ❤️ My friend and I started with Americano cafe. Not sure if it was the pretty mugs, but the coffee was the best ever. Thereafter we ordered a quince feta and spinach and a salad. To top it off they gave us a mustard salad dressing. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. I realized then restaurant was packed to the brim and wow who can resist such tasty food and glamouros environment. An absolute treat!

The food was really good, and the menu covers an extensive range of foods meeting a variety of tastes. Additionally, we received amazing service from Blessed. He made everyone feel comfortable and made great conversation, 5/5 for his service.

Excellent service, excellent setting. Our waiters name was Blessed, he knows the menu off by heart. He recommended our food and all I can say is Wow!! The restaurant has very nice cutlery and crockery. If you're planning to order their past you must really come with an empty tummy. Their food is way too cheap for the quality, venue and atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and they work as a team, you won't have dirty plates on your tables, just because your waiter is busy. Definitely my new fav spot 😍👌🏽👌🏽

I absolutely love this place. Breakfast is delicious, the salmon boat is to die for and the Mozart cake, WOW! I could eat it at least once a week 🙊My favourite brunch spot at the moment 👌

Service was lovely , our waiter, Blessed, flagged us down and we had to enter based on his enthusiasm and effort. <br/>What a beautiful place, with an old-world charm. It almost feels like you're at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. <br/>We ordered scones, which were huge and delicious , and cappuccinos that were perfect. <br/>It's a pity about the location, nevertheless we will be back.

Me and my husband we both ordered cake, I chose the carrot one and he had the mozzart. They both were perfect 👏 Not too sweet ... just perfect. The service was very good 😆 we will definitely go back

This place is definitely a hidden gem, it took some time to find the restaurant as it was hidden at the back of the shops. The interior design of Harpers is beautiful and classy. The ambience was also great as it was peaceful.<br/><br/>I loved their variety of foods, from Tacos to Pasta's. They have it all. There are also quite a selection of vegetarian foods, the food was different and great for a change. Staff was friendly and service was fast as well.

The salmon baked potato was really good 👌 Light, flakely and perfectly seasoned with crispy skin - a clear winner of a dish. #recommended. 😊

So happy this amazing place has reopened. A beautiful new interior and upgrades made to the old classic! We got served by a friendly waiter called Blessed who was at the restaurant when they were still in the old shop. He recognized us immediately and clearly remembered our drink orders. For breakfast I had the scrambled eggs, peppers, bacon and spinach on ciabatta. The plate was as full as it could get. To finish we ordered the scones that were baked perfectly and super fresh! <br/>Amazing experience!

Good for a lunch once you get tired of shopping :) Usually they are quite busy on weekends-try not to sit at the tables placed in the middle as waiters and customers constantly squeezing past your chair. Had a chicken mayo tramezzini here, was good. Also tried the Welsh rarebit on toast - very rich but quite tasty. Service was ok.

It is so convenient being located in Eastgate the new restaurant is so light and bright. The service is good and everyone is very helpful. I tried the chicken kebabs the were tiny I understand they are cheap but make them more expensive so they are larger and don't dry out. The prego was very average the burger was great and very tasty <br/>Some dishes are great and others not so good

Harpers has been redesigned and relocated from its previous Stutterfords days into a contemporary cafe with chic decor and a spacious layout, creating a lovely atmosphere for a leisurely dining experience. The menu has a variety of options to select... the portion size is substantial and is well presented. The cappuccinos are GREAT and the shortbread cookies that come with it, even better! Recommended is the pear and Gorgonzola salad! Such a delicious combination (and semi-healthy too😉). The service is generally good and is definitely a nice addition to the (limited) cafes in Eastgate.

YAY, one of my favourite places has happily reopened. Bit out of the way still some of the old staff where on hand to offer friendly banter. <br/>We only had a breakfast and it was excellent and we will be going back.

Good food reasonably priced, service was a little slow though and no manager to check if everything was ok. That is so important esp for a newly opened establishment

Finally, a high class place has been located in a clearly visible and attractive location (close to the gym). The service and delivery just feels like the Harper's of old and the traditional Bangers and Mash well that was really colourful, so colourful that there were too many flavours. The strawberry juice, well that was refreshing...

Over the moon that one of our old favourites has re-opened. The new layout & ambience are inviting & the flavours are superb. Nice n fresh toated sarmies & flavour of the beef burger takes us back to the early days of the Black Steer steakhouse in Yeoville. Will definitely return to sample more of their menu.

Unfortunately we only popped in for some coffee and a hazelnut latte. Which was great. Definitely will be going back to eat there. Atmosphere was awesome and the staff were incredibly nice and friendly. Really cool place

We were excited to hear that our "old" favourite spot has 're opened. The restaurant is unfortunately quite hidden and the waitress stood outside waving to show everyone where the entrance is,but once inside this beautifully decorated spot is just great. The food variety is outstanding and the quality great. The service both in the kitchen and the waitress was slow and she did disappear for a long while and we had to flag down another waiter to take our food order. The staff hang around at the entrance or at the till side which I hope will change. I will definitely come back soon and recommend it to everyone
