Review Jungle Sushi And Teppanyaki - Bedfordview

Tony
This place offers tasty and affordable sushi (buy one get one free daily specials). I went there for dinner on Saturday evening with a friend and they weren't so busy. Their Japanese oysters were really well made and delicious. The teppanyaki chicken was a little salty but pairs well with white rice. The noodles was made with soy sauce so it didn't pair too well with the salty chicken. The teppanyaki chef was really friendly and had great showmanship. It was very entertaining watching him do his craft. Only negative experience I had was the slow service. Our waitress was scarcely present throughout our meal and never asked about our food once. We needed serviettes, the menu again, order more food etc but always had to fight to get her attention šŸ˜… Update: went back and got more sushi and their Salmon salad is amazing.

Out of the all the Sushi Restaurants I have been to, this is the place with the highest quality of šŸ£ Sushi around Johannesburg. A lot of nice side dishes too. We always get the boat platter and a soup whilst ordering. It was a pity they reduced the size of the menu. But it is still top quality.

I had a lovely time here. There is currently a buy 1 get 1 free special, so as usual, we had as much as we could stomach. Easy to find parking and the waitress that I had was attentive and friendly. The sushi could use bigger pieces of sushi and sometimes do skimp on a few of the pieces. The tiger rolls and tempura prawns are the assorted menu are really delicious. If you want your sinuses cleared then the wasabi parcel will definitely do that. The handrolls were really tasty. Overall good experience. Follow me on Instagram: @deli_kasi

I have visited many times over the years and always considered Jungle one of my favorite hidden gems. The food is always excellent quality and the service is great. If you get a good table, you even get a very entertaining show from the skilled cooks at the teppan bar or the sushi bar. It's always a lot of fun.

When a recommendation for all-you-can-eat sushi was fully booked we decided to try Jungle as an alternative. When we arrived we were hesitant as it was very quiet and we almost thought it must be for a reason. Well I am so happy we decided to give it a chance. The waitress was sweet and pleasant, the Sushi was delicious and so well presented. We got a lovers platter which was great value for money and with the buy one get one free we ended up eating as much as we could have at an all-you-can-eat but for far less. The drinks were well priced( best Rock Shandy I've ever had) and the Jasmine tea was moreish . I loved how everything was presented. I think we have found our local sushi spot and cannot wait to come back and try more dishes.

The sushi was really great and the service, was my first time visiting and I would definitely recommend them.
Teraia Sewnarain (Tey)
Amazing service and even better food. Love watching them cook right in front of you. Go all the time and have never been disappointed.

Ordered a sushi boat which was filling for two people, the quality of the sushi was good. The grapefruit tea was a little too sweet, had to ask for more hot water to dilute it. Good value for money! Keen to come back and try more dishes.
Alison Gasparini
What a delightful experience. The food was top notch, service was efficient and so friendly, and the atmosphere cozy and relaxing.
Mary Jane Mokoena
Very balanced combo from warmth of the waiters ,time taken to prepare and the actual taste ,overall the service was impressive for a minute .

Lovely sushi, good value for money, pleasant experience, peaceful atmosphere

The sushi at Jungle is by far the best sushi I have tasted. It's so fresh and made so well. Good value for money. Friendly staff!

Delicious food! Authentic and fresh. Had oysters for the first time! Tasted a variety of food and dessert. Everything was great.

Been going for years, best Sushi ever!!!!!

We have eaten at Jungle a few times. This time we decided to try their sushi, and once again there was nothing I could fault. We started with Chicken, sweet corn soup (it was so good I forgot to take a picture) With tempura prawns - with a ginger soy dipping sauce, and fragrant, coriander filled beef potstickers. Husband was determined to attempt one of their sushi boats, but they looked HUGE and I was determined to save space for dessert, so we shared the salmon sushi platter with extra salmon roses and spicy salmon inari - all were delicious and incredibly fresh! We ended off with their infamous pancake and deep fried ice cream. <br/><br/>The food was (as always) out of this world, service was great and the cost was totally reasonable! No wonder why theyā€™ve been in business for such a long time šŸ™‚

This is the best sushi restaurant in Johannesburg. The portion size is huge! The service is excellent. Maureen was super friendly. The food is absolutely divine! My husband and I love it here! Great, great, great! Thank you for making our experience with you so special and delicious.
Meryn Orlik
Once again we had the most delicious Japanese oysters! Even my 6 year old has 6 of them and begs us for ours šŸ˜‚ truly amazing and seriously only R12 each, what a treat! Now for some delectable teppanyaki prawns šŸ˜‹
Christy
One of the best Japanese restaurants Iā€™ve been to. The service is always really efficient and the staff is also extremely friendly. The food is also served at an acceptable pace. The main dishes that we tend to order would be the grilled eel- although this has deteriorated over time. I have noticed that many people tend to order the very classic sushis that one could get at other seafood restaurants- I highly recommend the special platters that are restaurant specials! The first one on the list (canā€™t remember the name) is one of my favorites.
Meyert
Definitely a hidden gem!ā¤ļø Their food and sushi is 10 out of 10 and they are well priced, the staff is polite, friendly and ready to help you, proper traditionally made food with no Fancy gimmicks. <br/>Had heard a lot of good reviews and they definitely lived up to the expectations!
Kev0&#039;s Food Adventures!
I eaten at jungle a few times and have always had a great meal, the sushi is always fresh and prices reasonable. Just a pity they donā€™t have ā€œreloadedā€ sushi, which seems to be the in thing nowadays.<br/><br/>I did find this time that the prawns were a bit ā€œpapā€ and that the batter could have been crispy. <br/><br/>Try the deep fried ice cream for an amazing desert!
Food Loving 101
This is my favorite sushi place by far, the staff is friendly and the food is great. My favorite thing to eat is the salmon salad. My family usually just orders a sushi boat which contains many different kinds of sushi and is delicious. They also have deep fried ice cream which is the best dessert ever. They also deep fry salmon fish heads if you are looking for something new to eat.

Have been to Jungle twice in the past few months and the food has been great every time. The sushi is generously sized, not so pretty and maybe a little too big, couldn't fit the pieces as a whole into my mouth. The Japanese oysters are a must try, they were delicious! The reason why I can't give a 4 or a 5 is because of the lack of service. My waitress was great but as a team there was none. It was not a busy day but I don't feel a customer should have to watch an entire staff of people playing on their phones at various tables. Also, we ordered a seafood udon soup which on my first visit was very good. I watched the chef place it in the order ready window and another waitress walked up and looked at it and when she realized it was not for her table, left it there. My waitress was pregnant and I am sure busy somewhere else and I timed how long it took for the soup to finally get to me. It was approximately 10 minutes. All staff saw it sitting there and did nothing. By the time it arrived, everything was overcooked. Rubbery prawns and fish and a hard boiled egg and soggy noodles. :(<br/>As I have stated, the food is great but service is really lacking. If management could be more visible and present, it could cause the staff to care more as well.

:-( :-( :-(. What an absolute pity! I used to frequent this place and it was really good. So after a long lapse - I decided to go check it out again. Omg ... how sad?! the food was awful. ā˜¹ļøšŸ˜žšŸ˜•šŸ™

We have eaten sushi here a few times and it is always excellent, and very good value for money compared to other sushi restaurants.<br/><br/>Highly recommended!

I love this place. The sushi is fresh. The Japanese oysters are sweet and tangy. (worth trying) They have a wide variety of interesting food. The Green Tea icecream is also very different (don't expect a sweet icecream) Beef tataki Salad was also quite tasty if you like rare beef. Overall this restaurant is great, had no issues with the service.

11.11.2017 This place has been on my list for quite some time especially since I've started eating alot more sushi of late. For a Saturday afternoon it was extremely quiet the entire time we were there. <br/><br/>They have quite an extensive menu with good variety. And the prices are also quite reasonable. Friendly staff greeted us on arrival and showed us to a table.<br/><br/>For starters I tried the Deep Fried Calamari, I was rather disappointed with this as it was really small pieces and mainly squid heads that were very chewy and tough. For mains I selected a few varieties of sushi. The Teriyaki Chicken, the Deep fried Prawn and the Dragon Roll. The Teriyaki one was probably my favourite out of all 3. The Sushi was good but fell apart very easily. <br/><br/>They are usually known for their Sushi Boats to share as it's a massive amount of Sushi. Maybe on my next visit I'll attempt that.

I have been here quite a few times and I must say this must be one of the better Japanese restaurants in Johannesburg. Their sushi is pretty good and the boats are definitely one of my favourites. Their teppanyaki and fried rice is pretty decent as well. As for desserts, deep fried ice cream has to be my favourite
Angelique
This place offers the best and freshest sushi. Love the platter options as well as the sushi boats for larger groups of people. Service is quick and staff are always friendly.
Blue Jiay
I never tire of this place.<br/>Their variety of sashimis on their sushi boats are great, great enough to come back again and again.<br/>So far the only place I found that serves butterfish sashimi - which, o my goodness, is mouth wateringly soft - something you can't get out of salmon or tuna.<br/>Their Japanese oysters: absolutely exquisite - refreshing, sweet and tangy. Even my brother who hates oysters, loved them.<br/>Their dobinmushi: a must have, satisfyingly refreshing yet rich in authentic flavour.<br/>Their tempenyaki: fun to watch, generous in portion and (black pepper fillet), tender, spicy and heavenly.<br/>Always had attentive and warm service - having had 2 birthdays in their private room and countless socials. Their private room, with the floor sinking in, offers plenty of privacy and space.

Loved Jungle....had wonderful Japanese oysters have to have it with an extra tequila shooter had edamame beans and teriyaki prawns all top class ....sushi had the small boat to share between 3 ppl more than enough had deep fried ice cream and fortune cookies all wonderful. 5star all the way. Service was good

Really enjoyed my time here. The service was amazing, the food delicious! And the place had a warm Japanese feel. I order platter of sushi. For R168 I got about 20 piece. It was worth the price. The portion sizes are very generous. We get to watch the chef make our food right in front of us, great experience. The restaurant itself is in Bedford view so a little far from home, but whenever I'm in the area I'd love to go back.
Teresa
I have heard alot of good things about this restaurant and decided to try a sushi lunch. I prefer vegetarian sushi and was disappointed that a vegetarian California roll consists of only cucumber and avo, making it rather tasteless and colorless. I was not impressed that the soy sauce was in an open ceramic jug on the table exposed to air and whatever bugs happen to be around. Needless to say the soy sauce tasted old. There was also an incident that a waiter dropped a glass following which the manager loudly reprimanded him - asking if he was drunk. Although the restaurant was basically empty, surely this was not necessary? With so many good sushi restaurants in this area, I do not think Jungle Sushi is making an effort to offer anything special.
Love2eat
Well constructed sushi but oh so expensive! Service is lacking - I am not sure management is aware of the customers consistent issues with bad service. I believe customers don't return and all that happens is prices go up - what a pity as the sushi is really good if you are prepared to pay the price.
Gary Greenberg
The sushi here is not bad however there is a limited selection for vegetarians unless you order teppanyaki. Nice ambiance by the grill and a good spot in the open centre. The service was average and could do with some attention.
Claire Wood
Excellent sushi. A good variety of fish beyond just the usual salmon and tuna. Very fresh and the portions are generous. Try the wasabi ice cream!
Megan Palm
Delightful little spot!We indulged in sushi for the evening and no complaints on the service, food or the price! Well done Jungle :)
Natalia Bonegio
Jungle Sushi is one of the better sushi places I've been to recently! <br/><br/>They have really interesting sushi choices, such as oyster sushi, which was delicious. The sushi boats are great for display, and you get a nice variety, too. Go with plans of sharing though, because those sushi boats are big!<br/><br/>The also do green tea ice-cream, which is authentic and delicious. The service was great, too!
Jasmine Chieh-Yu Ho
This is my second time coming to the Jungle. The food itself is not the grandest but if you if you want some fresh fish this is a right place is you are around the area. Try their dobinmushi the soup for a change, it is light and flavored with seafood and mushroom. For drinks the green frappe is a great option for hot summer weather. Their sushi portion is quite decent and sashimi is fresh fresh fresh!!! We have also tried their udon, the broth is light and fresh, but nothing grand about it. We were stuffed with food that we have to skipped the deep fried icecream. But definitely the next time.
Candice
I love their matcha (green tea) ice-cream. It's not too sweet and refreshing šŸƒ It also comes with 2 scoops which is perfect to share. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Been wanting to try Jungle for a long time, finally got the chance. Sushi is good and fresh plus they use the thinner white ginger which is great. The only thing I can fault is that the California rolls are not tight enough, battled to eat them as they kept falling apart. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.
Dean Baker
A fantastic meal... ! Japanese style oysters, sushi, teppanyaki and egg fried rice a must! Never had an average or bad meal.. service with a smile every time ! SILANI the best best waitress!
Kumaran Govindsamy
Tucked in this little corner is a gem. Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. Especially when it's prepared right in front of you. It did take a bit of time but worth the wait. Deep fried ice cream...must try!
Kitty
The food was not bad and price is okay but the service is lacking. The one waitress that has been there the longest, gave us lip when we complained we placed an order for 2 different people but they put all the sushi and sashimi on one plate for one person. She had such a bad attitude. That said the other guy waiter was friendlier and assisted us after. The old owners "Jungle" made everything great about the restaurant. He would walk around greeting everyone and interact with customers.New owners, nowhere to be seen. One really bad point is that their extractor fans need to be changed to stronger ones as after you come out of the restaurant, you smell like their kitchen. Smells greasy and stale.

Waiter got the order wrong. Ā He must not have been paying attention. Ā I wanted blackened tuna steak and got blackened beef steak. Ā He was apologetic and I ate the steak because I hate the thought of food going to waste. Ā It was superb and the portion was generous, served with fried rice and some steamed veggies. Ā Waiter offered to pay in the price difference but I refused because I don't want to take away money from someone who could use it. Ā The food is excellent. Ā Very fresh ingredients, but prices are higher than I like to pay. Ā I don't recommend that you order any of the soups, because the portion is minuscule and is served in teapots that look like a truck ran over them. Ā Other items on the menu have sizeable portions. This could be a great restaurant but our experience kind of soured it so I can't recommend. Ā And the owner (or manager, I don't know which), at least the one on duty then, doesn't go from table to table ensuring things are alright, but stands around staring at the teppanyaki grill. Ā What's up with that? Ā There are better Japanese options in Jo'burg.

Really money deal. Get the big ship platter. Very yummy and definitely get your money's worth. Fish was fresh. Have a lot of Japanese varieties

This is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants to come to in Johannesburg. Been to many but this place is always constantly good! To start off they have a seafood soup served in a tea pot (dobinmushi). These you only really find in authentic Jap restaurants. It's quite pricey but super worth it! Sushi is always fresh and rolls are made very well too. If you lucky they have oysters on special for 15 rand each. Very fresh and well worth it.

Newly refurbished, reasonably priced and great for a quick weekday meal.<br/>We had rhe noodles with chicken and bokchoy. We even had a waiter that told us that he knew and had tasted most of the items on the menu. Quite impressed.

The sushi is jungle is some of the best Johannesburg has to offer. It's tasty and they not stingy with the salmon :) If you're in the mood for sharing, the small boat (pictured here) is a real treat.
Heather Hook
One of my fave sushi spots in the East. Big open plan area with a sunken area with three teppanyaki counters seating about 10 at each counter. Decor is minimalist Asian style but sushi is to die for. Their "boats" come in three sizes and are literally, golden boats, featuring a variety of sushi. Owned by Mr Jungle (not sure if real name) a super friendly host and the service is generally good. This has to be one of my best finds in Johannesburg thus far. Highly recommended for sushi lovers :)
Stuart Thomson
Nice Japanese restaurant with clean lines and a simple feel. sushi and sashimi of a good standard. Service is in alignment with expectations, so what's stopping it from getting more than a four? I guess I think it's a little pricey, nor does it push the boundaries with respect to delivering something a little different from what is expected of a typical sushi place. No issues with returning again.
Daniella
I eat at jungle between 2-3 times a week and it's one of my favorite restaurants, the service is always great and so is the food, if it's your first time going, you can't go wrong with their sushi, prawn teppanyaki and my all time favorite beef tataki šŸ˜šŸ˜‰šŸ˜<br/>
Alexander Leppert
Best sushi I've tasted since going round Japan with the "spicy" sauce blasting your tastebuds with wonderful happiness. Highly recommend this restaurant and finish your meal of with their deep fried ice cream.
David Ferronha
The sushi at Jungle is delicious and there is a large variety to choose from. The Japanese oysters are fantastic , a must try!! <br/><br/>The service could do with some improvement on attentiveness but overall it was a delightful experience. <br/>
Genevieve Law
Sushi was delicious and fresh with the usual favourites and some chef specialities. The Japanese oysters have an unusual sweet taste and are a definitely ones to try out. Theres even something for the sweet toothed - the pancakes and fried ice cream were great. The only thing that lets this restaurant down is the almost non existent service.
Alexa Scola
Such a wonderful establishment!<br/>We had the beef egg fried rice and the spicy beef teppanyaki which were both really good. <br/>We also ended off the meal with deep fried ice cream - this was s true winner!<br/><br/>This place is vibey, relatively inexpensive and offers really quality food and service!
Johann Terblanche
Came here highly recommended to try the sushi. Must say the sushi was not bad at all. They are however quite expensive but they offer an interesting variety of sushi. We orderdered a self built platter and after finishing it we wanted another one exactly the same and the consistensy between them was not great. Second plate everything was much smaller and much skimpier.
Nicole
I've been going to Jungle for a very long time now and is still one of my best sushi places to go to.<br/>Their crab and cheese spring rolls are my best and some of the best I've tasted before, and the sushi is always fresh and well made.<br/>The prices are a little steep, but the boats work out very well for a nice mix of variety and options.Ā <br/>Worth a visit.

<br/>Review 2/update: I went with a friend for an early dinner last night. He ordered the beef teppanyaki and I had veg noodles. It took an hour for them to make the food which is downright ridiculous considering those dishes are rather simple to make. The restaurant was empty at the time we went so I don't know why it took that long. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Review 1: We decided to grab some noodles since we had a huge conversation about where to get the best beef noodles from. <br/><br/>We opted for Jungle sushi since we both had not been there before and had wanted to try it out for a while. The noodles were yummy! He had beef noodles and I had vegetable noodles. The flavors in them were amazing. <br/><br/>We had seen tons of reviews on here about the pancakes and had to give them a shot. Although slightly on the sweet side for my pallet, they were fantastic! I would say unless you're a big eater, you can easily share a portion between two people. <br/><br/>We also shared a matcha green tea iced latte since I love matcha! It was fairly tasty. <br/><br/>Staff were really friendly and attentive. And the environment is really peaceful with light classical music playing in the background. The only downfall is the service is a little slow. But nonetheless, it was a lovely experience and the food was worth the wait!
Annabel
Great Sushi, and very tasty Teppanyaki. The restaurant dĆ©corĀ is very average and the food a bit pricey, but they do make the best pancake and ice cream which you cannot get anywhere else in Gauteng. Try it.
Rose Marie Pereira
Good teppanyaki service is very slow so be prepared to wait. Last time we went there was a Sunday for lunch we were the only ones in the restaurant and it took ages to get our food! But having said that the food is good and the best is the delicious PANCAKES with ice cream worth the wait!!!
Fabio
Absolutely amazing food and service. 3 meals in one night and each one outstanding. Newly done decor adds to the delicious occasion. Recommended to all!!
Candace Gloag
I remember this establishment being wonderful when visiting as a child. I recently rediscovered it and have been dying to try it since. Walking in I was a little worried as the restaurant seemed bare and appeared to need updating/renovating. However the food was stunning. One could see the teppanyaki chief had years of experience, the food was presented beautifully and the flavours were amazing. By the end of the evening the chairs were filled and the vibe was merry. Jungle is a little more pricy then the competition but your belly will thank you
Zizke
Tucked away in an awful strip mall, but the most delicious sushi ever. I order sushi once a week and it is always exceptional. Order the avo maki and dragon rolls. Sashimi could be sliced thinner.
Karen Boshoff
Experiential Eating... sitting at the Teppanyaki bar just made me even more hungry after the 3rd course. Always been a special, authentic place... and I will continue to recommend it.
Ramiro Robalo
Jungle is the restaurant that made me fall in love with sushi. If you're hungry with a pocket of money this is the place to be. You wont be disappointed when it comes to sushi or Saki.Ā <br/>If you're up for something new, ask Jungle for some special oysters, he makes them himself and they are well worth it.Ā <br/>For the less adventurous the cheesy crab sticks will always be a winner.Ā <br/><br/>Once a month, every month.
Vivek Chinoy
Nice place <br/>Ok ambiance <br/>Wide variety of sushi available <br/>Our sushi took too long to come to the table <br/>But it was tasteful <br/>Moderately priced
Andrew
We went to jungle sushi and teppanyaki for lunch this past Saturday and it was a very pleasant experience.<br/><br/>We arrived to a very warm welcome by our waiter. He was friendly and very knowledgable of the menu. We order a pot of green tea and a coke as we were a party of 4. Those came quickly and we then ordered our food. <br/><br/>We ordered the medium boat which consisted of 14pcs assorted sashimi, 8pcs assorted nigiri, 10pcs rainbow roll, 16pcs maki, 8pcs California roll.<br/>The sashimi was mostly fresh, except for what I think was the butterfish. The sushi was good. The rice had a great constancy and didn't fall apart when dunked into the wasabi soya sauce. <br/><br/>I also ordered the deep fried tofu and and two handrolls, a prawn tempura handroll and a salmon handroll. These were delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed them. <br/><br/>We had a great time and the waiter was very helpful and on hand to help us when we needed.
Adrian Tiplady
I consider myself to be a sushi snob - and without doubt, this restaurant has the best sushi in South Africa, prepared by real sushi masters.
Jose De Carvalho
I met up with one of my chairpersons and P. We decided to have a social and just have a relaxing time. I must admit that the setting was nice. Sitting around the Tepenyake dude seeing him making the dish is quiet an experience, If you do that, just be careful that you do not fry your brows or any of your fingers and you can easily get distracted.. especially after a saki or two. LOL... <br/>Well we had a starter of oysters with some interesting dressing.. We asked for 6 oysters but they whack you with the price. We all decided to have tepenyake which was really tasty. The setting is pleasant and the service friendly. When making use of the toilets you have to go through this room where it seems the smokers go and my greatness you feel that you going into a dodgy place. But my experience here was nice. It's a good experience.. If you like sushi I would recommend you visit this place. .
Frankie
Definitely very overrated restaurant, we purely visited based on all the hype created around it. Whilst is a very upmarket restaurant, this pretty much indicates the price of meals. The service is slow, the sushi is fantastic, zero ambiance and extremely overpriced. Hokkaido in Norwood charges the equivalent for 8 pieces of sushi. Also the platters are incredibly overpriced, all you can eat is R140 elsewhere.
Catherine Au
I've had dinners here a couple of times. I think it's got great consistency in quality of food. <br/><br/>The service I would say is okay. <br/><br/>The atmosphere is much better after the renovations. <br/><br/>Personally recommend:<br/>Green tea/ mocha milkshake <br/>tempura platter (get a platter so u can have both seafood and vegetables) <br/>Deep fried tofu <br/>Inari salmon (battleship) <br/>Handrolls are good as well<br/><br/>Will definitely be coming back for more. <br/>
Maximillian Bajkay
Amazing salmon sashimi along with their salmon roses.<br/>Venue isn't too shabby either and in a great part of bedfordview.<br/>Staff can be slow on the take at at time.
Meraj Chhaya
I was curiously made aware of Jungle Sushi, which is essentially walking-distance from my house, by a Zomato ad.<br/><br/>My interest grew when I noticed that this restaurant offered unusual sushi choices: clam, marlin and red snapper. These are the exact sashimi portions I tried, in addition to cream cheese salmon california and salmon roses.<br/><br/>It was an interesting experience, the rice and clam were very good, but the salmon lacked taste.
Ruby Wang
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Johannesburg! The food is super tasty and the service is quick and friendly! Strongly recommend their sushi boats to all the sushi lovers out there!! :)
Andrea P. Diaz
I really like this place for a quick casual sushi night. The fish is always fresh, and their roll selection is great. Their fried rice was also delish. I've never tried their teppanyaki, but smells divine.
Merelda
Good but not amazing.<br/><br/>Jungle serves Sushi, Teppanyaki and some rice/noodle dishes. They have quite a cute deco, not tacky like most of the Eastern Asian restaurants. The service is friendly and the ambiance is pretty decent.<br/><br/>We ordered a Salmon platter, the portion was quite large given the price. The sushi rice is pleasant, but the salmon was a little warm and doesn't have the 'melt-in-mouth' effect. It might be because it was a really hot day and we were sitting by the tepanyaki table so everything is a little more heated around there.<br/>We also ordered the pepper steak, chicken and pineapple, chicken and mushroom tepanyaki. The chicken was soft but is slightly under-seasoned. The pepper steak was delicious, but got a little too pepper-y in the end. I was quite disappointed that starch had to be ordered separately, so I couldn't justify the price that we had to pay for it.<br/><br/>One plus side is that sometimes they have complementary deep-fried Salmon head. My friend also ordered the green tea milkshake which was very delicious and refreshing.<br/><br/>Bottomline: Everything is quite mediocre<br/><br/>Pros: Cute deco, free salmon head, big slices for sashimi<br/>Cons: Have to order starch on the side<br/><br/>p.s. For comparison, see my review for Yamitsuki (also sushi and tepanyaki) around the corner.
Leonidas Vonopartis
Best sushi I've had in the area, reasonable pricing and great service. Definitely a must go for Japanese cuisine. For this I have become a regular customer
Nicky Visentin
I come here often and I absolutely love it! The sushi melts in your mouth, the soups are packed with flavour, the teppanyaki is delicious and everything is filling. All the decor and setting lends itself to a very authentic and "Zen" feeling. Service is quick and friendly and the food is very reasonably priced. To top everything, there are chocolate dipped fortune cookies!! :D
Alvin Francis
The place is busy but after our experience we will not be coming back. Ordered the tempura prawns and they were heavy and tasteless. We ordered the salmon teppanyaki and medium t-bone. The orders came together but the steak was well done. Was told that they would redo the steak and would be done in 5min. 15min later I was done with the salmon and wifes steak still not on table. When we then said we rather just cancel the steak the manager says but it's only a minute away. Needless to say she was not going to cancel the order. They tried to make it up by offering a spring roll to us, but we declined. The food is bland and your much better off going to Watami in Edenvale for Japanese. Jungle might have a better setup but the food is not as good. And in our case the service also lacked.
