This is one of the better Halaal establishments on Durban. Food is on par with other franchises in the group. Have onky been for breakfast and the food was fine. Service was fair.
Love Fego coffee and just adore the relaxed bookstore vibe. The food does not disappoint. My only gripe is that the service can be a bit sleepy at times and the place is pretty cramped, not pram or wheelchair "comfortable" so to speak.
Very welcoming and friendly.
Value for money.
Great coffee and a very relaxing ambience.
I would go back and l would recommend.
Thanks management and staff.
A refreshing change. Great to get good service and relax on a comfortable couch.
We went down to Fego on a Tuesday afternoon for a quick lunch. The setting is typical to any Fego. It’s set within the mall and sort of spills out into the corridor. Fego attracts the patronage of students, moms with kids and the odd business lunch. Because it opens out into the bustle of the mall it is pretty noisy and very casual.
The menu is really extensive for what is supposed to typically be a coffee shop. I would expect a place like this to have a few light meal options and that’s it. Instead there all manner of sandwich type options, light healthier options would be the wraps and salads. They also have a breakfast menu. Then there are full meal type options. There are also all kinds of gourmet coffees and frappes to choose from.
We went for the chicken wrap (R62), crumbed chicken strip Panini (R58), both served with either chips or salad. To drink we had what’s penned on the menu as ‘original lemonade’ with a watermelon and berry flavour each (R27).
Fego generally have huge portions, the Panini was no different. I quite enjoyed the flavours of the Panini; the crumbed chicken was seasoned very well and not dry in the least. With the addition of the chips it’s too much for the average appetite. Their chips are yummy; they are thin and crispy without the dryness of a certain fast food chain. The chicken wrap is just light enough and the feta paste makes it work. Again the chicken was seasoned to perfection and juicy.
The meal was satisfactory by coffee shop standards except for the lemonade. It is way too sweet and the synthetic taste of both flavours are overpowering.
Recommended: the chicken basket is always good so are the tramezzinis especially the Cajun chicken variation.
