So here is a treasure of a restaurant tucked away off Westbrook beach which happily is frequented not only by visitors but by droves of locals - which says a lot. Over many years the quality and standards have never faltered. This is not an establishment for a quick meal. You want to sit here, on the veranda if possible, and gaze at the beautiful ocean view while feasting - or, if in the evening listening to the sound of the ocean. You think smoked salmon pancakes as a starter a bit ordinary? Think again with this fusion take with freshly made pancakes made for your order. This is a starter that you just want to go on and on. The curries come in three “strengths” but the emphasis remains on flavours and tastes rather than on raw “heat”. Cannot wait for the next visit to this gem run by the most wonderful husband and wife team with Mrs as master chef and Mr looking after front of house. Those personal touches shine through everything.
Another hidden gem in Westbrook. 10 🌠’s for their ocean view, Just breath taking.
Their menu is something else not your average restaurant menu very unique. Food was amazing from their presentation to taste. Very welcoming and lovely atmosphere, however food took forever to arrive but was well worth the wait at the end.
Came here for lunch with friends on a rainy day, this place has a seaview..
Lovely owner, friendly and helpful. It was a very pleasant afternoon.
We shared a anti pasti platter for starter. Great for sharing.
Mains were served piping hot, i had the fish and chips and it was really amazing, i really enjoyed it.
Their burgers are a big hit with the locals i hear.
And i couldnt help but notice the huge grilled prawns the table next to us ordered. Yum.
Dessert, highly recommend the nougat cheesecake, it was divine, and the chocomint ice cream.
Overall, it was a very good experience, service is great, food is great, the people were great.
I will definitely come back again.
Wow, what a great place with a great view and fantastic service. The duck was about the best I have ever had. Hubby had the lamb curry (hot) and said it was very good and not too hot. Great place to eat!!!!!
Relaxed atmosphere with interesting decor. Very friendly staff always eager to help. Slightly pricy but for the portions and quality it is well worth it. I was also very pleased to find out that they have a specialized vegetarian menu.
Amazing food, great lamb curry and duck dish. Also incredible and attentive service. Thanks so much Andile and Mzo, will definitely be back soon!
Had the best curry was fantastic, my hubby had the Salmon Crepes define great deck nice waiters , awesome
Owner we will be back very soon !!!
Had lunch here a few weeks ago with my family. A lovely restaurant overlooking the beach, with amazing interior decor. I chose the Balti spiced prawn stuffed chicken breast, served with rice, a delicious coriander type of sauce and battered julienne carrots as garnish. This dish was a winner for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was quite impressed with the presentation. My mum and aunt both chose the parmesan chicken fillet, which was good as well. A bit on the pricey side but food is delicious and portion sizes good. Would like to go back to try some of the other dishes.
Best lamb curry i have ever had, friendly and great service. Andile was brilliant! We loved every moment. I cant wait to go back. We recommend making a booking. This lovely little resturant will surprise you.
Wonderful setting and very good food - had Dorado as catch of the day with tempura prawns as starter - finished with peanut and caramel ice cream - my family also had a hamburger and seafood salad as mains - will definitely go again - prices slightly expensive but good quality food.
The pictures don't do justice to the amazing flavour of the food. I really enjoyed what I ordered: prawn curry, balti chicken and affogatto dessert. I'd highly recommend this restaurant and waitress who was absolutely friendly - Thobeka
I cannot say enough good things about this place. Food; great, service; well done, atmosphere, super cute boho chic.
My dad and I were staying at a bed a breakfast nearby and hopped here for a late lunch. They were only open for a rugby game, but allowed us in to eat. The food was quite good. It was great to look out at the beach from the window. They also have a lovely outdoor patio, but it was too cold to venture out.
The owner. WOW! We were unable to connect to Bolt to call a driver to take us back to our hotel, and he took us there himself. Totally going above and beyond to help us. What a wonderful guy, Rusell, thank you so much! We've made it home safely, thanks in part to you.
Highly recommend dining here.

Spice is amazing! Such a hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone was so friendly. So much care went into preparing our food and there is an amazing view as well!
Will definitely be returning.
Absolutely awesome views, inside, outside seating. Great vibe and a walk across the road the be on the beach literally. Great menu with lunch specials as well. I went for the lamb curry and this was so tasty, hot, full of flavor and well presented. Was absolutely great even the dessert - amarula chocolate mousse to die for. Sunday lunch well spent with friends.
Beautiful venue, view and food to match. Nothing to fault
Great place. Amazing views and food for lunch in the sunshine. Night time dinner on the patio just as good. Will definitely go back again
Rainy day when we went, not that it was off putting. The view from our table overlooking the ocean and seeing the whales was epic. Not to forget why we went.... the scrumptious meal and pud after. Delish indeed. A little gem tucked away north of Durban. A scenic drive to whet your appetite. A def must go again and again......
Great food, beautiful atmosphere plus the added benefit of a 180 degree sea view. What more can you ask for?
NEW POST 29/9/22 Had a reunion at Spice, this past weekend. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Definitely a place for me on my next visit
This is the best place I’ve eaten at since I got to Durban. We ordered the peri peri chicken livers (creamy rich and spicy), mango and duck salad (perfect balance of texture and sweet/savory) and the lemon sesame chicken (so many flavors!). The kids got the spaghetti and fish and chips. I’ve never seen them clean their plate like they did here. Mint chocolate chip ice cream was fresh and very minty. The apple crisp and macadamia nougat cheesecake hit the spot. Our server Siya was delightful. Overall a delicious experience with excellent service.
