Ate here today upon returning to Durban and the food and service couldnt be better.The staff was welcoming as we walked in,sat down and until we left and always checked up on the table. ●Oysters were really amazing ●garlic butter snails(from the juicy and delicious snails to the garlic butter it was in this dish was simply perfect and as someone that loved snails it's hard to come by a restaurant that makes it right) ●line fish/catch of the day(catch of the day was a Cape salmon,the fish itself was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the sides which where chips,butternut and creamed spinach was perfect as well) ●lamb curry(the rice itself was perfectly cooked and had a aroma to it,the curry itself from the moment it hit the table you could smell all the spices already,the meat would melt in your mouth and the the flavour from the curry itself was really great,a perfect curry) ●sambal side(could really taste the freshness in it and was seasoned perfectly as well) ●chutney side(went well with all dishes ordered and was a great item to add sweetness) ●tartar sauce side(creamy and Rich and went well with the dish it was meant for) Overall a really great restaurant and atmosphere,a definite try If you are in the area.

I had the pleasure of dining at Lord Prawn restaurant while on seafood cravings. I've never been so happy, the food was dancing on my mouth. The drinks were satisfying, the food, to die for, and the sauces sealed the deal for me. If you're a seafood lover visiting the Durban, Umhlanga area, don't miss out coz you'll never have better. The rice was bland and the chips was to dry on the inside Service. 5⭐️ Ambiance 3⭐️ C: seating is very close together. So you literally can hear the next tables conversation. It’s very rowdy .

A superb dinner, good service and a nice vibe. No wonder they've been going for 48 years! My only gripe is the fact that I did not see a note on the menu regarding a gratuity charge. Neither did I notice it on the bill ( rather small print) and landed up giving a massive tip in error. While this is my fault, I'm a pensioner and this became a very expensive dinner for me. I was treating a friend.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant to have lunch at. The service is great and the food is absolutely scrumptious. The owner Gerhard also welcomed us personally and shared his expertise of food and sauces which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely go back there for another meal. Thank you for a great time.

As a visitor to Durban, it was great to find a place that appears well supported by the locals. Lord Prawn has been going since 1975, and I can see why. There is an element of nostalgia to this place, a head waiter takes all the orders and the rest of the wait staff see to the tables. The service was on point and extremely accommodating on all points. If it ain’t broke, leave it the hell alone. We came for prawns and we were not disappointed, plump and succulent. Portion sizes were ample and price points reasonable. My only crit would be the battered fish which was on the thin side and as a result was over cooked. Overall though, a great experience and a place we would happily return to without a second thought.

Views is another 5 🌟 🌟 Good food and good views nice vibe. Am a return customer! Prawn curry (not for the faint hearted 😊) Always enjoy the kingklip and veggies. They just need to make a plan regarding power source on the outside of the establishment.

Delicious food! Prawns were falling out of the shell. Kingklip fish was seasoned to perfection. Overall, the seafood was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend. Will be back!

I am a Durban lady who now lives in Cape Town. Since I have been living in Cape Town since 2011, I have gone every seafood restaurant to get the perfect Crayfish Thermador that is perfect. I am not fussy, I am extremely particular! So when I say this is my favorite restaurant, I seriously mean it. The first thing I do when I land in Durban is go with my parents for dinner. First experience at this quaint and homey restaurant. I absolutely loved it. Glad to see vegetarian options catered and the food was delicious. Good service too! Would love to go back.

Last night was my second time. We literally asked 4 times for our waiter, the food left much to be desired. I had the fishermans platter, the prawns were tasteless, the waiter didnt ask whether I would like my calamari grilled/fried and brought it grilled and for desert I ate the most horrid and tasteless tiramasu. Not worth it for the price, I do not recommend this place and nor will I go back. One last thing, when checking the bill, they automatically charge gratuity but it's hidden in between other items of food and unless you carefully scrutinize you will most likely give a tip on top of a tip. I think that this is in poor taste and that Lord Prawn should be more upfront about this.

We ordered the kingklip and Prawn combo and Calamari and Prawn combo prawns looked more steamed than grilled. No colour, bland. "Peri Peri" sauce was bland and no flavor and definitely not spicy. Altogether the food was tasteless and disappointing as a local resident. Not rushing back.

A restaurant with a buzz - food was fresh and delicious...took a while to get our 2nd portion of prawns, but at least that (hopefully) means all is made fresh and to order. Worth a visit and treat! #KevFabFood

It was my first time there definetly won't be my last, was greeted on arrival by a very friendly waiter (did not get his name) great service, perfect environment awesome food, I am very impressed will definetly recommend to others for sure, I am in the industry and I can safely say WOW to my entire experience from arrival to departure it was just fantastic you guys have definetly got me as a regular, I know this isn't much of a review, I don't personally like doing reviews but to share my experience is better��� just plain awesome THANK YOU.

What a lovely place. The staff is fantastic. They gave us a table even though we had not booked for new years. They taught my grandson how to eat prawns seeing that none of us eats prawns. They will definitely see us again. Thank you all from the bottom from my heart.

Great food and ambiance. Waiters are very very Welcoming and friendly. Went out of their way for my gfs birthday . I recommend this restaurant to all.
