Always a lovely time here, and for pub food is doesn't let you down. Will continue to be coming back. However, don't order the vegetarian platter - it's very fatty and over priced.

As a Stellenbosch student I frequently visit The Happy Oak. There's an awesome vibe in the summer and winter, they have a fun quiz night on Tuesdays, loads of TV's and big screens for sports enthusiasts and a great craft beer bar upstairs. As a Maties student you can also join the Maties Beer Appreciation Society and get 2 craft draughts each day at only R15! Okay, maybe that makes me a bit bias. You will never regret going there!
Amazing place if you're a pub vibe person. Great beer selection with staff that are interactive and are always fast with their orders. Their "Mini Breakfast" is perfect for a quick on-the-go bite early for around R25, and a great lunch is the chicken budget burger for R42. Great on rugby nights too and a lovely upstairs private area for venues.
Awesome, chilled vibe with a great variety of food and drinks at affordable prices. The service is a bit slow but other than that, the happy oak is an awesome place to grab a few drinks with friends

This place is a must if you're a student in Stellies! They have plenty of outdoor seating for summer days and it's always bustling inside. There's hardly ever a time when you don't bump into someone you know here! They serve great food that satisfies any cravings you might have and the cocktails are great too.
This place has been engraved in my youth. Ever since I have been a foolish and wide eyed student this place has held nothing but promise for me.
Be it to watch the premier league or a intentional rugby game, this has always been the place to be. They stock all sorts of beers, ales, lagers, pilsners, IPA's and even the odd stout or 10.
By all means, if you are a visitor to Stellenbosch, this is the place to visit. Be sure to have a local craft beer what visiting, they have one of the best selections in town.
Always a favourite. Food is amazing. Drinks are amazing. Never a dull moment at Happy Oak. Best place for any sport and the SPECIALS are ridiculous!!! Whether you go solo or in a group you are guaranteed an amazing time. I've been visiting this place since 2014 and not once have I ever had or heard of anyone having a complaint 💪💪💪

Great old English style pub with an outside courtyard ideal for students and working class adults alike. The atmosphere is happy, there are always drink specials and great music too. Noteworthy sport is always shown here too.
Great pub with good prices and large beer selection (craft beers, too!) Mostly student crowd (did someone say beer discount?), live sports on TV, and tasty grub. Can get VERY busy, especially on days like St. Patric's.
A great spot for students and the new Beer Appreciation Society upstairs is awesome with a wide range of craft beers.
Good specials are often offered and it is always a good time spent there.

Has a great vibe, safe and pretty fun. Great food and most importantly there's a projector upstairs where you can watch sports. There are also TV screens everywhere so if you are looking for the best place to watch your Rugby or Soccer with other sports enthusiasts look no further.
Great atmosphere! The best for watching Champions League Football or and other sport fixtures (preference for soccer). Several different TVs in separated sections allow multiple games to be screened simultaneously so you can go there and not have to worry about missing your team play. Upstairs has a lounge area with a pool table, while downstairs has the main bar, two other rooms and an outdoor section with numerous tables, each with TVs. The food is decent and reasonably priced - good pub food (don't expect gourmet meals). I have many great memories from this place.
The pub food was absolutely delicious! Nice place for a party if you're in the mood, or to watch sport. Spacious, with covered outdoor area and indoor areas. Lots of students obviously, since it is close to the Stellenbosch campuses.
