WOW! A full score. You can't make me happier when craftsmanship and creativity come together. What a pleasant surprise! Ended up here unexpectedly, we wanted a restaurant with fine dining close to our stay. And that's it! What a beautifully designed restaurant in a truly spectacular setting, with a view on Simonsberg. The fact that this decor and environment is inspiring is fully evident from the creativity of the chefs! What a beautiful dishes, visually a feast for the eyes, making each dish a work of art. The quality of the food is excellent and also excellently prepared. The dishes are so tasty and balanced, truly beautiful! Just as breathtaking as the view and the interior of the restaurant. Pure perfection. Never over the top. These people know their trade. As well as the rest of the staff. Kitchen, service, everything runs smoothly, there is good communication. All in all, this restaurant guarantees an enjoyable experience! Go for the full eight course experience, I would say! Definitely worth at least one #Michelin star #finedining #hautecuisine

A very affordable fine dining experience! We went there for lunch to enjoy the beautiful view the restaurant has to offer. It was pretty empty at noon but it filled up afterwards. The staff is very nice and the interior is decorated with taste. We went for the reduced tasting menu which already had 5 different meals and two starters. All meals are carefully presented and there’s a real attention to the sauces, which were all really tasty. The wine pairing was interesting but I didn’t understand why the only white wine was proposed between three reds. But we got to taste the house wines which is why we were there. The price is very affordable as the menu + pairing only cost us 100 EUR each. We’ll be back for the full tasting menu!

Absolutely outstanding top notch restaurant that would surely earn at least 1 Michelin star if not 2! Be sure to try the 7 course menu with their wine pairings (Quoin Rock and Knorhoek. The venue is also beautifully designed overlooking the valley.

Our dining experience at Gåte was nothing short of extraordinary. The elegant decor and breathtaking views of the vineyard provided an enchanting backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The innovative and beautifully plated dishes took our taste buds on a culinary journey, showcasing the skillful artistry of the talented chefs. Each course surprised and delighted us, blending unique flavors and textures effortlessly and to complement our meal, the sommelier expertly paired each course with superb local wines, enhancing the flavors and creating a harmonious experience.

A very nice and pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The service is immaculate and the venue is pristine. It is expensive ranging from an average spend of R800- R1200 per person but you’re not coming here for value, you’re coming here for an experience. We were treated very well by Noel and Amos during the lunch ceremony. Very tasty flavors, interesting dishes, almost artistic I would say. The venue is clean and upper class. Well furnished with an extraordinary view. We went wine tasting afterwards and the service was friendly and entertaining. I bought too much wine but couldn’t resist. The blends are really good. The white blend is possibly the best of all with a floral nose and great palate.

Great service, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere and architecture. We loved the live classical music playing in the background. I do not recommend the vegan menu, the food was arranged beautifully and interpreted with finesse but overall lacked those expected bursts of flavor (only the grilled melon and dessert were great). The regular menu was absolutely delicious though.

Words cannot describe the culinary delights that you’ll experience. From the moment we arrived we were taken aback by the sheer beauty of the views from the restaurant. the the huge glass bi-folding doors opened onto the manicured gardens with a spectacular view of the nearby mountain range in all its glory. The food is what we came for & we were not disappointed, the five course tasting menu with wine pairing was divine. From the very first offering of a fresh bread with smoked honey we knew that it was going to be an innovative dining experience. From seafood to risotto & beef we could not find any fault with the dishes, the quality & attention to detail was second to none. Our sommelier paired each course with a wine from the estate, he was super friendly, knowledgeable & had some great stories about the wines. I can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences that we have ever had. I can highly recommend anyone to come for a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Exquisite food, amazing setting, view and atmosphere! To start, we were part of a group that maybe wasn’t suited for the fine dining setting (large group of friends who hadn’t seen each other in a long time, so we were very loud and did get asked to keep it respectful to other guests - I thought this was fair given the restaurant). Then the food started and wow!! It was amazing! Incredibly tastes, nice variation on conveying the flavours, and beautifully served. As mentioned, the staff truly did their very best to bring an amazing experience. We did make the mistake of not confirming the wine being poured and I feel we got duped into drinking a wine significantly more expensive than what we thought we ordered. Did not take away from the experience and we will be back!

Beautiful, high end fine dining experience situated on Quoin Rock wine estate. The restaurant offers beautiful views with and ala carte and set menu offering. The dishes are innovative and plated beautifully. Menu prices are on the higher $$$ end for restaurants in the area. A special date night venue or special occasion meal.
