Second time dining here and it was a absolutely amazing. The service and food is unmatched; and the ambiance is just perfect. Can highly recommend and will definitely be back again soon!

Really good food, they don't have wine pairing and the choice only by glas was slim, tried two cocktails, unfortunately not good. Would still recommend the food.

What a gem! Very unsuspecting entry but quickly opens up into a magical location. Rich history, beautiful setting, great service, and UNBELIEVABLE food! Nice wine selection as well. Perfect for a romantic evening away from the crowds.

The Smoked Cauliflower and the Gnocchi was delicious. Great atmosphere.

Hidden away down a beautiful walkway, this intimate restaurant offers tables inside or outside under the pergola decorated with string lights. The set menu was amazing and a gastronomical experience that incorporated a range of tastes and ingredients. Dishes are for sharing and even though portions could be small, it adds up to being completely stuffed. I loved it here!

Truly interesting food combinations. Great service. Highly accommodating to the vegans and vegetarian in our group. Stellar service. Oh, and Max the cat may visit you during the meal🐈

Absolutely outstanding - I've been back four or five times now amd it's consistently one of the best dining experiences I've had. Beautiful dishes prepared witb the utmost care and attention to detail (try the gnocchi, it is PHENOMENAL), outstanding service and an excellent wine selection, at a price point that won't rip an unduly large hole in your wallet. Simply cannot recommend this marvelous establishment enough, 10/10, no notes.

Charming location and tasty food. We went for a lunch break in Stellenbosh on a sunny day. The table was perfectly sitting under the grape vine. Being quite hungry we opted for a full chef menu, 7 tapas per person. Each plate had a unique combination of flavours, all very enjoyable. The place is probably very nice also for dinners, we definitely have to go back for an evening culinary experience.

We did the cheffs menue. A very good experience. One to do again on a special occasion. Waiter very friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere.

This delightful pub/restaurant is hidden down an alley which opens up into a cool oasis in downtown Stellenbosch. The menu is limited but interesting, albeit a little pricey. The vine which spreads over the courtyard is apparently the oldest one in the area, it certainly adds a Mediterranean feel.

Very delicious tapas to share. The great thing is that you can choose the tapas menu so that you don’t need to choose the individual tapas dishes. Ordering the challah bread is a must, you won’t regret it!

What a phenomenal dinner. We had the chefs tasting menu and added the kale salad. The beef was sensational. All the wines were superb. No room for dessert but greedy husband insisted on the blow torched at your table creme brûlée which was divine. Too much wine for me and left my handbag - our lovely waiter jogged three blocks after us to deliver it. Legend.

A real gem of a restaurant. The food is Devine. We shared the chefs menu which was generous in size. The service was attentive and friendly. The venue was a real supeise walking down the alley into the courtyard with a pretty vine over the tables. Definitely worth the visit.

We tried the 7 course tasting menu and really enjoyed the various plates. The flame grilled sirloin, fried fish, potato gnocchi, pork belly bao and roasted cauliflower was defs our favs 🤩 The dark chocolate Cremeaux didn't disappoint 🍫🤤 In the centre of the outdoor restaurant there is a tree and the theme carries throughout the decor with a greenhouse and industrial feel. 🌿 Service was on point 👌

We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Spek & Bone. I wanted to book something a bit different for dinner with my family and Spek & Bone did not disappoint. We had a great table outside under the vines, all lit with fairy lights and candles which provided a wonderful atmosphere. We ordered almost all the dishes on the menu and pretty much all of them were amazing! We particularly loved the Silverfish and Seafood Curry. The steak was beautiful, tartiflette and gnocchi were amazing too, if a bit rich. Some dishes seemed a tiny bit too salty but this was easily resolved with lots of wine! This restaurant is really something special and different for Stellenbosch, don't miss it. Great service. Not cheap, but worth every cent!

This is my current favourite restaurant in the Cape. It is a casual eatery offering the most delicious small plate dishes. Each one is so delicious that you hope someone turns there head so you can lick the plates! The idea is to share the dishes so that you can taste quite a few of them. In fact it is best to invite a few friends so that you can work your way through the menu. It is a relaxed wonderful setting. The manager Jacques is the ultimate host. He welcomes you and is on hand to answer any questions and will guide you through the menu and choices with your waiter. The wine list blew me away. I love my wine and for me to find a menu where I have not heard of half the wines is heavenly. I had amazing wines on both visits. I love Spek en Bone. What a great addition to the family of restaurants owned by Bertus Basson and Marelie.

What an interesting find! Not pretentious cuisine but rather hearty and delicious. Unusual (but pricey) wine list, tapas were all so different but so tasty. Some very different menu choices. Tried sweet and sour pig tails and the grilled squid and raw fish tuna tacos. Very enjoyable tapas meal and lovely setting. The friendly playful cat outside was a bonus to the evening.

Jam packed full of flavour. Every single dish was mind blowing & unique in itself. The sautéed potato gnocchi & wild mushrooms was heavenly. All the flavor so robustly beautiful. We had 4 small plates & 2 desserts. Thank you for a incredible culinary adventure. Thank you Bertus for sharing your palate with us.

This was my second visit to Spek &Bone, I just want to make mention of how blown away I was. Two of my guests are vegan and there wasn’t a lot they could eat on the menu, together with our totally awesome waiter MK and the innovative chef, they put together some very delicious vegan friendly meals and desserts with no fuss at all! I will keep coming back! Love this restaurant so much!

Chef Bertus has done it again. Delicious food, perfect wine list and a great vibe and atmosphere. Every dish we ate and shared with friends was a treat.

Lekker atmosfeer, awsome disse, maar sal nie aanbeveel vir groep van 16 mense nie, veral nie 'n set menu nie. Baie moeilik om te bepaal watter porsie grootte jou deel is veral as daarslegs drie bordjies in die rondte gaan. Het wel lekker gekuier.
